The hotel room was extremely small, but clean and well kept. The design was nice and all the furnishings were nice. Our room was near the elevator and we could hear the dinging throughout the night which was very annoying. We could also hear our neighbors and people in the hallway talking due to the extremely thin walls. Stockton Ave closed for construction...frustrating because no one noted it. This was my first time in a SF hotel and did not know there was a parking charge for hotel parking. This hotel is right in the middle of San Francisco!!! It is close to everything. Bathroom is a little small, but it did not matter a lot. If you have a car use the valet parking. Traffic in San Francisco, especially around the hotel is crazy. Parking is not too bad, $36 per day. Parking outside costs about$3.50 per hour. WE LOVED IT!

Hotel Union Square is ideally located for someone wanting to be right in the thick of Union Square hubbub. Nice feel to the hotel, not generic. The beds were comfy and the rooms clean and well-appointed. Warning, if you are sensitive to noise, bring earplugs or this may not be the hotel for you.

Cable car was out front on Powell street, Union Square and Macy's, one block away, ice skating rink one block away, Starbucks on every corner, Huge indoor lovely mall on Market and Powell 2 blocks away. Lovely stay. Concierge was extremely helpful and very personable. Wine bar at 5:00.

The Hotel Union Square is in the perfect location for shopping and convenience. The hotel is in the process of upgrading - but not so that it is overwhelming for guests. Unfortunalely the walls are paper think and you could here TV, talking, everything. We were woken up in 4:30 am Talking and then TV went on and we called front desk and TV still did not go off. Our son and daughterin law were in another room and were woken up their first night at 2:30 am to talking. They put padded headboards on the beds so I am sure […] they hope that helps. I am not sure I would be able to stay there again as I got so little sleep. Other than that we liked the hotel and location. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location in the in Union Square and very close to Macy's and Westfield mall. Very clean rooms, but they are a bit small. The bathrooms are small, with an extremely small sink and no vanity which is not very conveinient for four women. Overall it was a good stay and would stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel multiple times; room decor is nice, but there rooms vary from large with street windows (cable car/street noise), to much smaller interior rooms with a 'window' to a fire-escape. Beds are good, lights, internet, TV etc. all in good shape.

The fee for parking was $36 which I assumed would be for 24 hours similar to other hotels in the area. I checked in around 6pm and was told parking was only covered until 2pm the next day. Make sure when you consider the cost of the room, you add on the exorbitant price of parking.

The biggest complaints I read prior to staying here were small rooms and noise. First of all, I got the Executive King. It was worth paying a little more in my opinion, for a better experience. I saw a small room as I walked by, and it did indeed look really small, but our executive King was perfect. Plenty of room, large bed, lots of space to move […] around. Next, the noise. We were on the 5th floor, and yes, we still heard the street noises, and I suppose if you were on the first floor, it would be worse. But come on, this is SMACK DAB in the middle of the busiest part of the city - I expected noise. It was nothing I couldn't tolerate and in fact, the hustle and bustle is part of the charm of staying in Union Square. The fan in the room blocked it out enough to have no trouble sleeping. Certainly a great location near everything, I parked the car and never used it again. The hotel itself is old-ish, but nicely upkept and I actually though it was charming. Perfect location if you want to explore downtown SF. Close to good restaurants and street animations. Safe at night. The hotel is very charming with a film noir decor. The bad thing is: the room was very cold until they finally turned on the heat system after our 4th night. The room was also very noisy due to construction work outside the hotel.

A unique little boutique hotel right in the middle of everything. It's noisy outside (street noise from the trolley and outside hustle and bustle) but quiet inside, nice and a bit funky. I visited San Francisco for a conference at Market Street. This hotel was very conveniently located close to Union Square, around many other major hotels and in the heart of the shopping area. The room was equipped with a window unit which yield a constant, annoying humming sound. This made it difficult to sleep. You honestly can't beat the location, you are steps away from the mall, restuarants and the Bart. But the rooms are incredibly small, although updated the window ac kept making a clicking noise that was bothersome, the mattress was uncomfortable as well. For the price I feel you are just paying for location.
