"Location and comfort!"
The staff is amazing! Location is great! The rooms are a bit small, but very functional and nice! A/C worked great, room service was great! Would stay again. I would recommend to the hotel that they get "blackout" blinds.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Fun place with a terrific location! Right around the corner from Union Square shopping, at the gate of Chinatown and within walking distance of North Beach.Overall a neat place for a weekend getaway, run by a fun and helpful staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The AC was broken and the room was stuffy/hot! Called but the maintenance man was not there so we asked for a fan but they didn't not have any available. There best suggestion was to open the window which we did, but it wasn't until late at night when that helped to cool the room. So getting ready during the evening was pretty bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Hotel was adorable and staff was great! Loved the wine reception! The sangria was perfect. My only issue was the AC window unit in the room was broken. It was a hot night so we set it to the highest cold we could and it was still hot even at midnight. Called front desk for options and they brought a fan. The fan worked amazing and was able to sleep. "Steps to China Town"
Great location, close to Cable Cars, Union Square, great shopping and you walk out the door to the entrance to China Town. The staff was very helpfull and informative. Another great deal is their free bikes. They have two 5 spead bikes in great condition and we took advantage of that, it's a great way to experience the water front. They have great bike […] paths down that way. The rooms were on the small side but they were clean and the bed was very comfortable, the most important thing for me! "Great location, fabulous staff!"
Really enjoyed our stay at the Triton. Great location -- we could walk to almost everything and public transportation is close by as well. The staff was beyond fabulous -- always had great restaurant suggestions for us and could point us in the right direction for sight seeing adventures. Loved the decor and atmosphere at the hotel -- it was fun and […] upbeat. Coffee/tea in the morning, cookies in the afternoon and wine in the evening -- always that extra littel something that made the stay special. Staff was great with our kids too. "Cute hotel, right outside Chinatown"
I stayed one night at the hotel and I wish I could have stayed weeks. It's cute, friendly staff, rooms have what you need and the location was perfect. Right outside Chinatown, a few minute walk from union square and 15 minutes by foot from pier 39. There is a wine happy hour from 5-6 daily which was a great way to meet other couples and guests. "Good but not great."
I've stayed at many Kimpton hotels, and this one is just a bit less than what you would expect from that hotel group. There is nothing wrong with the hotel. Just little things--there was no safe in my room, the cleaning service didn't leave me fresh glasses, there was no book with details about the hotel, etc. The staff were all gracious and helpful […] and the location is great. But if you want the full Kimpton experience in San Francisco I recommend Palomar or Monaco or Harbor Court before Triton. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"SF marathon weekend"
The hotel is definitely above average for SF - but the room was small (aren't they all in SF) and the air conditioner did not do much for us on an unusually warm July weekend. The room was elegant and clean. The lobby and its festivities - wine tasting, cold water, fire place and seating were very nice. The hotel itself was clean, valet was a bit slow, […] but the staff was very nice and always helpful. (Gave us good directions and places to go for food.) Overall 8 1/2 out of 10. "Great boutique hotel in perfect location!"
A few friends and I stayed here for a weekend and loved it. The front desk service was wonderful. It's a funky boutique hotel with a free 5 pm happy hour everyday for guests. "Stylish and Fun Hotel in San Francisco"
The Kimpton Group's stylish and fun Triton Hotel sits right across from San Francisco's scenic Chinatown Gate and just a few blocks of premier shopping from Union Square. Room quite hot on arrival and the a/c was ineffective - filter had not been cleaned for quite some time. But even after cleaning the filter, the unit didn't cool the room. Bathroom fan did not work. Room was clean - so more of a maintenance issue than a housekeeping problem No in-room coffee.Genuine Expedia guest review
The behind the desk staff was WONDERFUL! They were so helpful and told my husband and I all the non-touristy places to go on our honeymoon! I expected a high quality Kimpton hotel but found Triton shabby. Don't get me wrong, the style was whimsical, the staff outstanding and everything was clean and well maintained. We much prefer the location of this Kimpton property to the Union Square locations with its easy access to Chinatown and North Beach. The staff is friendly and helpful. Kimpton kills it, loved the location and the colorful decor. The bed was comfy and the size of the room was great for San Francisco. The people watching from the window and the restaurants below were great. If you want too many options of things to do and places to eat, you will be happy.Genuine Expedia guest review
I would highly recommend Hotel Triton. The room was nice and clean, if a little small. The location is convenient. The stand-out part of the experience was the customer service. The bathtub drain wouldn't -- significant drain jam. The air conditioner didn't work well. "Great Hotel in a Great Location with Great Staff"
I stayed at Hotel Triton for only a day before moving to a larger hotel for a company conference. The hotel was fantastic! I had never been to SF and the staff was so helpful in telling me about all the sites to see and local eats to eat. They had a hosted wine reception from 5-6pm which was a great little touch. Also, they had a complementary bike […] on site for hotel guests, which I took complete advantage of. Having only a day and a half to site-see, I was able to take the bike for an early morning ride down to the Golden Gate Bridge. The room itself was kind of small and has a faint musty smell in the hallways-- but nothing to deter me. Besides being small, the room was so unique and definitely memorable (as was the entire hotel). The location was fantastic! Nestled right between Chinatown and Union Square, I had so many options nearby. I also walked 20-30 minutes down the the wharf and along the water (being a young woman by myself, I never felt unsafe) to see all the "tourist-y" spots. Also, I took the BART from SF Intern'l Airport to the Montgomery Street Station and the walk to the hotel was only a couple blocks, i definitely suggest doing this instead of taking an expensive cab. "quirky hotel in union square"
I stayed at this hotel for the first time in a few years. I checked in around 9pm so I got a 2nd floor room. Generally prefer rooms on higher floors, but the late check in was most likely the issue. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated and the decor looks like it had been changed since the my last stay. Heating/cooling is done through a combined […] window unit, which seems outdated but worked fine. Noise from the street wasn't too bad. Beds are firm. Didn't see a blow dryer in the room though I'm sure you could request one complimentary if needed. Very friendly front of house folks. Free coffee in the morning! Response by Hotel Triton, a Kimpton Hotel Hi Traveler ~ Thanks for sharing your post. We prefer the word "cozy" over small although we understand where you coming from. "Good place to stay"
Had a nice two night stay here in Feb 2014. Location is right by Chinatown and a short walk from the Financial District. Good restaurants within walking distance (Le Central for an old-school French bistro, House of Nanking and R&G for great Chinese food) and a Starbucks right across the street. What stands out most was the friendliness of the staff; […] very willing to help and offer suggestions, and also greeted me with a glass of merlot upon arrival (which was right after the nightly wine tasting).
