I would highly recommend Hotel Triton. The room was nice and clean, if a little small. The location is convenient. The stand-out part of the experience was the customer service. Everyone at the Hotel Triton was wonderful and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. A great hotel with outstanding service!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect area of town to be a tourist. Easy access to most of the city. Great room, super friendly and helpful staff. Had a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The bathtub drain wouldn't -- significant drain jam. The air conditioner didn't work well. The 2nd day the staff said they couldn't fix the AC and moved us to an "upgrade", which was a room with a larger bed, but significantly smaller room size, much smaller bathroom, little closet space, and no full length mirror. The upgrade was disappointing. The […] hotel was old with new paint. It didn't feel like a Kimpton at all. I won't go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect spot location wise"
Staff was friendly and helpful. Second night was horrible. Facade of opposite building was cleaned from midnight till 5 or 6 a.m. Front desk's excuse was that they had not been informed!!!!!! Had breakfast one morning at Bistro Restaurant connected to Triton. Expensive and nothing outstanding. Hop-on Hop-off stop in front of the Hotel. "Great Hotel in a Great Location with Great Staff"
I stayed at Hotel Triton for only a day before moving to a larger hotel for a company conference. The hotel was fantastic! I had never been to SF and the staff was so helpful in telling me about all the sites to see and local eats to eat. They had a hosted wine reception from 5-6pm which was a great little touch. Also, they had a complementary bike […] on site for hotel guests, which I took complete advantage of. Having only a day and a half to site-see, I was able to take the bike for an early morning ride down to the Golden Gate Bridge. The room itself was kind of small and has a faint musty smell in the hallways-- but nothing to deter me. Besides being small, the room was so unique and definitely memorable (as was the entire hotel). The location was fantastic! Nestled right between Chinatown and Union Square, I had so many options nearby. I also walked 20-30 minutes down the the wharf and along the water (being a young woman by myself, I never felt unsafe) to see all the "tourist-y" spots. Also, I took the BART from SF Intern'l Airport to the Montgomery Street Station and the walk to the hotel was only a couple blocks, i definitely suggest doing this instead of taking an expensive cab. Loved the experience at Hotel Triton and would definitely go back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"quirky hotel in union square"
I stayed at this hotel for the first time in a few years. I checked in around 9pm so I got a 2nd floor room. Generally prefer rooms on higher floors, but the late check in was most likely the issue. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated and the decor looks like it had been changed since the my last stay. Heating/cooling is done through a combined […] window unit, which seems outdated but worked fine. Noise from the street wasn't too bad. Beds are firm. Didn't see a blow dryer in the room though I'm sure you could request one complimentary if needed. Very friendly front of house folks. Free coffee in the morning! Response by Hotel Triton, a Kimpton Hotel Hi Traveler ~ Thanks for sharing your post. We prefer the word "cozy" over small although we understand where you coming from. We are in a historical building and neighborhood that we feel adds to the charm that is San Francisco. They definitely did not the sq. ft. we enjoy today that is for sure. I hope you won't let this keep you from thinking of us again in the future. Till then,
"funky hotel, awesome customer service!"
The hotel staff couldn't have been nicer and upon my late arrival, offered me a glass of wine and a few Google rubber duckies for my kids that are floating in the fountain outside of the hotel - very sweet gesture! The room was small but totally comfortable and very quirky. I loved the coffee and tea bar in the morning - complete with a delish local […] brew and soy milk and mighty teas. The location was great - right in the middle of tons of shopping and close to bars and restaurants. would definitely stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Mother/Daughter Trip to San Francisco"
My daughter and I had an wonderful experience at the Hotel Triton. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the wine hour each afternoon along with coffee and tea in the morning. The staff helped us schedule excursions and plan our sight seeing adventures. The location of this hotel is perfect for a stay in San Francisco. It is right next […] to the Chinatown Gate. You could walk to Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square, shopping, Fisherman's Wharf, etc. I would definitely stay at the hotel again. We loved the quirky decor! "Good place to stay"
Had a nice two night stay here in Feb 2014. Location is right by Chinatown and a short walk from the Financial District. Good restaurants within walking distance (Le Central for an old-school French bistro, House of Nanking and R&G for great Chinese food) and a Starbucks right across the street. What stands out most was the friendliness of the staff; […] very willing to help and offer suggestions, and also greeted me with a glass of merlot upon arrival (which was right after the nightly wine tasting). The room itself wasn't Four Seasons-style luxury, but was clean, stylish, and sizeable enough. Would stay here again for sure. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"a bit kooky but GREAT hotel"
We really enjoyed this hotel. It's a bit kooky, but there was NOTHING wrong with this hotel. We, literally, tried to find something to complain about (as a joke), and there was nothing. the entire staff was lovely. I was only there for maybe 10 hours (quick stop for business) but was very pleased and would love to spend a few more days next time to explore the neighborhood. The hotel was hip funky and awesomely San Francisco! My room was wallpapered with a Jack Kerouac novel, and I even got a goldfish sent to my room which was complimentary and gave me a pet away from home!. The hotel was right in Union square which was good for convenience. We did enjoy the wine reception and the front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The room was well decorated but tiny. "Fun visit to San Francisco"
I enjoy Kimton Hotels, especially the Triton in San Francisco. It's a good location, not far from Union Square and the Masonic Auditorium. The rooms are small but comfy and the price was reasonable for San Francisco. The only complaint is that the tv stations are only pay stations--no regular tv. But not a deal breaker! "Great location & staff"
Great location, 1/2 block from the entrance gate to China Town and a couple blocks to union square shopping. We toured SF on foot and easily walked through China Town, Lombard Crookest Street, the Wharf, Pier 39 & Telegraph Hill. Rooms small but adequate. Beds comfy, nice linens, tub had paint chips. Appreciated coffee in lobby in AM & ice water all […] day. Missed wine hour but thought it was a nice amenity. I needed 3 rooms since traveling with married children & was happy with this selection since rate was low ($105 Queen) + $50 expedia mobile App discount coupon code. If I was just booking one room for me & my husband, I probably would have chosen a nicer hotel for $20 more per night. They offered upgrade to Kings at check-in. Booked 2 rooms on expedia & a 3rd room on Triton website since website had AAA Rate that included valet parking (PAA rate code) not available on expedia. We did not drive in SF but needed car to visit more family outside the city, so in/out parking was nice. I am now a fan of Kimpton hotel chain as they are dog friendly with no extra charge. "tiny rooms and bed"
There were limited hotel rooms in San Francisco so I was pleased to stay at a Kimpton property. Unfortunately, the Hotel Triton did not live up to the Kimpton standard that I am used to. The bed was a super single and very uncomfortable. There was construction outside from 7PM until 4AM- the hotel was not very apologetic and unwilling to move my room. "Great location, friendly staff"
My wife and I flew cross country to celebrate our 25th anniversary in San Francisco. First time either of us had been there so relied on reviews when booking our stay at the Hotel Triton. Overall a fantastic choice. Great location next to the downtown shopping district and Chinatown, and only a 20-25 minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf area. The staff […] was super friendly and very helpful. Relied on the front desk a lot... directions for getting to Candlestick Park for a 49ers game, etc. Our room was not overly fancy but very clean. Each night when we returned it had been completely freshened up. Only small complaint was that the television was not the best but we still could watch ESPN and catch up on the day's sports news. Already planning a return trip next year when the new stadium opens and we will once again stay at the Hotel Triton. Just a great experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was our second stay at Triton. We always stay at a Kimpton when we visit San Francisco. This hotel has a fun atmosphere. This is a poorly renovated hotel. The rooms were tiny and very noisy. The elevators barely worked. I was there for 2 days and left my room at 7:30am on the first day and when I returned around noon, the room was still not cleaned. I paid almost $300 per night to stay at this mediocre hotel. "Cute hotel in busy downtown location."
Hotel was very fun and the staff was really great. We had an issue with some of the electronics in our room and they were on it right away. We even got a bottle of wine for the inconvenience. The best part about this hotel is the location, and it was also the worst part for us. If you book here, make sure you get a room on the back side on a high floor. […] I think this room was available on because nobody wanted to be over the busy street. There is LOTS of commercial activity on this street between one and three in the morning, and the people just don't care how loud they are. The bed was comfy, though and the room layout worked well. The amenities were nice, and I always love a nice, deep bathtub. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
