My family and I had a wonderful vacation experience @ the JW Marriott. Upon entering the hotel driveway, there was an unexpected surprise where there were several flamingos lounging in a lake. The restaurants Rockwood Grill & Mikado were amazing as well as the views of the property. We stayed there on july 2014.And its not what we expected for $350 a night for premium view room (with taxes and fees).Reserved 2 rooms,requested to be next to each other and close to elevator(because of 2 babies),instead got one on 8th floor and other one on 5th and both as far as possible from elevator.Room was clean,but more like 3 star hotel room.Unable […] to go to the pool area because they forgot to give us wrist bracelets.Finally at the pool,ask to rent a Cabana and was told its $500 for full day include drinks.So we got one and was waiting for waiter about an hour to get some drinks(outside was 110 degree).After 1 hour of waiting manager shows up and saying that someone already reserved the Cabana 1 month ago so we should live(us,4 adults 1 kid and 2 babies).Finally we managed to stay at cabana for same price but only 1 round of drinks included.Paidanother $300 for drinks.Easy checkout by tv wasn't working,so waited in line for check out.They are charging $17 a day for self parking,but no space available.The only thing I liked about JW Marriott is Lobby.From my personal experience,I will not recommend this resort to anyone.Spent over $5,000 in hotel includes 2 rooms for 3 nights,and after i got home,i found out that my card was charged another $1,200(5 transactions I've never have).I hope it will help you make decision for your next trip. We stayed here for a weekend getaway in June. I had stayed at this resort 3 times for conventions but staying for leisure really made the experience special. We stayed at a first floor room where the balcony was facing the lake. In the morning, we woken up by the wonderful cries of swans (black and white) and ducks... The showers are VERY small. The shower heads are large and terrible. The food was okay. The servers in the restaurants were nice, but look out when you check out golf clubs for the 18 hole putting course! One lady was very nice, the second day....oh boy! She was very rude. There were 16 yr old white kids drinking, did not get carded at all & no I am not just throwing the race card out there; the indifference in staff service was apparent from day one! "Boy This Place Needs a Décor and Staff Update"
We stayed at the hotel for Coachella 2014 after spending many years at the pool after the festival. Sadly, the resort fell far short of our expectations, especially at $500 per night. In fact, I would go as far to say that this is one of the worst luxury destination resorts I have ever stayed at. The rooms, while large, do not appear to have been updated […] since the 1980s. The staff varies from reasonably helpful to highly unprofessional and condescending. The restaurants are lousy and offered only buffet, not a la carte. In addition, they have mostly large tables, so were unable to seat people quickly, even if we were willing to share with strangers. On the very limited positive side, the pool is still very nice and the drinks contain generous amounts of alcohol. Also, when my fiancé left her wallet and passport in the room safe, security Fed Ex'd everything to us within 24 hours at no charge. I debated on writing this review but here it is...We usually love staying at the JW Marriott in Desert Springs when we attend the BNP Paribas tennis tournament each year. Our last stay was in March 2014. Its our favorite hotel to stay at. Not so much this time! On our second night, I picked a towel off the bathroom floor ... to find a very large COCKROACH […] under it! Disgusting is the only word that comes to mind! My husband took the critter down to the front desk to complain. The front desk gal, who was also the night manager, offered us a free breakfast. Really..a free breakfast?! Another gal at the desk tried to tell him that they were 'indigenous' to the area, as if we are supposed to be okay with having a large cockroach in our room. I don't know if they ar e indigenous, I really don't care. We stay at many 4-5 star hotels and would never expect it be to be OK to find roaches in our guest room...Not in a hotel of this class! My husband got us moved to another room and one night taken off our bill but only after a lengthy discussion. We were very disappointed on how the front desk staff handled the situation especially since we are repeat customers. We will NEVER stay here again unfortunately.
