We stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bath loft, which was like a condo. It had plenty of room for my family. The decor is a little out-dated but for all the extras, we didn't mind. The housekeeping staff was amazing. They even cleaned the kitchen from where I had heated food. I wasn't expecting that. The complimentary breakfast included hot and cold foods. Eggs […] and bacon or sausage and hashbrowns or home fries, and tortillas and beans, in addition to bagels, cereal, fruit etc. I was amazed and the food was delicious!!! What I was not expecting was the complimentary dinner, M-Th night. It included a hot meal with salad and up to 3 complimentary alcoholic beverages per person. I thought that was above and beyond. It saved us some money since the children were with us. Overall I was very pleased and would recommend Orangewood Suites to anyone. Especially if you are bringing the family. It was close to many restaurants and shopping. 10 minutes at the most to get anywhere you wanted to go. Give them a try for your next Austin trip. I chose this hotel because it was right across the street from the overbooked hotel where I had my conference. While the staff was courteous and the room was very adequate, I feel that for the rate I paid, it was not up to standards. When I arrived at the entrance I decided to drive around a bit because there was a gathering of shady characters in the […] parking lot. I came back, but decided to just go in because they weren't going anywhere. I drove to my room and right outside my patio was a guy working on his car with the hood and trunk open, and music on loud. He stayed there until the sun went down. I decided to check out the happy hour, but I am not exagerating, people at two tables were calling their friends to come down to the happy hour for free drinks and food. The people they were calling were not guests of the hotel because they were giving them directions. I got the impression that maybe these were local people staying at the hotel, which begs the question: why do they need to stay at a hotel? I have stayed at the Doubletree across the street, paid less, and been around a whole different crowd of people. If I am going to travel alone, I probably would not stay there again or recommend to anyone I know. Read more

Affordable, reliable comfort. Nice location right off of I-35. easy access to and from the property. The large loft units haven't lost any of their charm. The hotel was once Hawthorne Suites, but in the switch the hotels integrity remains the same.

Best bang for the buck. Older property but undergoing renovation. If you have a large family suggest the loft. Two full bedrooms and baths with a fully furnished regular kitchen downstairs. Convenient to UT and all other sights downtown. Excellent restaurant choices within walking distance.

I stay in hotels roughly 5 months out of the year for work, and had a very pleasant stay here. Room was a little stagnant, but cleared up when we turned the a/c on. Enjoyed the full sized refrigerator, and kitchen. Very close to downtown Austin. I plan to stay here during my next trip to Austin.

I had a two day job interview in Austin recently, so I needed a place to stay that was cheap and relatively close to the interview site. Orangewood Suites provided those things and more. Orangewood is a modified apartment complex, so the rooms are spacious and full of atypical amenities (like a full size refrigerator, stove, dishes and other kitchen […] utensils, sofa, patio, etc.). Because my interview kept me pretty busy, I didn't really use many of these extra features, but they were nice nonetheless. The bed was comfortable and clean, and the linens looked new and nice (no cheesy, cheap floral bedspread here). The only downside to Orangewood was that some parts of the room were a bit dated and worn down. Some of the appliances were old, and there was chipped paint or old fixtures in other parts of the room. These things were noticeable, but not so bad that they detracted from my experience. Orangewood Suites was an excellent choice since I wanted more than a motel or hotel room. I stayed one night, but it would be fine for an extended stay. The suite had a front closet with ironing board and iron. A small but full kitchen with stove, oven & microwave. Refrigerator, freezer with ice maker. Pantry closet. Even a cutting board + knives and […] dining utensils. Dining place for 2. Cups and plates and glasses for 2 people. Coffee maker with coffee and tea selection. The main room had a sliding divider so you can have guests and still have access to you own area for someone to sleep or change clothes, etc. The front living room with desk and nice executive chair, sofa with coffee table and a TV that swings around to view from bed. Large double sliding closet for clothes with full length mirror. King size bed with nice covers. Bathroom area had 7' vanity and mirrors, dresser drawers + 1500w blow dryer, medicine cabinet, adjoining comfort room with shower & tub. Towels were good quality and they even had wash cloths. Nice orange scented soap! Lots of lights and some dimmers to make it easy on the eyes. + small patio with 2 chairs. Excellent central climate control + the WiFi was good for my iPad. Everything worked except the small radio/alarm. I always set back-up so not a problem for me. The pool is small (and out of season) so go elsewhere if you need a real swim. We stayed here during SXSW festival. They were just putting up their sign so I don't think they have owned it long. From the minute you get there you have the sense that it is a family business and they put a lot of care into the renovation and your comfort. It was a great location. Very convenient to have the kitchenette with full size refrigerator […] and there was a little patio you could sit on. My one negative comment is that they have breakfast until 9 (I think it was) and we arrived at 9:02 as the guy was taking things back into the kitchen and he refused to even let us take a piece of bread off the tray. Good hotel likely built in the early 80s. Could use a hardware upgrade and new beds, but for the price it's what I'd expect. Great location, and a very friendly and helpful staff. Although I didn't use it, I did visit the exercise room and it only had three cardio machines and no resistance training equipment, in case that means something to you.

There is a temporary sign that is placed over the original sign and at night the old name shows through the new sign. There was howling dogs that barked all night. One of the tenants did have dogs because he was complaining to the desk staff that there was a fishing hook left in his room that his dogs could have been injured by. the entire room was in poor condition. the cleanliness was questionable. the furnishings and decor were severely dilapidated - it had clearly been many years since the hotel decor was updated or replaced. the room was extremely warm upon arrival - though the A/C worked fine was it was up and running. there was a leak above the shower/tub, with an audible […] drip. when we called the hotel front desk, they seemed largely indifferent to the problem. it was eventually fixed before the end of the evening, but it did take several hours for someone to show up. i would absolutely not recommend this hotel to anyone, and would under no circumstances consider staying here again. there are too many other superior hotels in the immediate area. Our stay was wonderful...rooms were very clean and comfortable. We would definetely stay there again. We arrived there and they had our reservations and was checked in with no problem. My experience reservation through expedia have been great I have used them before and have never had any problems on my reservations.

For the money, this hotel was acceptable. However, our suite needed a lot of maintenance. 1.) The tub in the downstairs bath had no stopper. Had to use a wash cloth to keep water in the tub. Reported to the front desk but never received a stopper. 2.)The kitchen ceiling light had a globe that was coming undone. 3.)Baseboards were missing in the […] bedroom area. 4.)Dials needed replacing on the stove. the beds were hard; carpet was torn; some of the fabric on the couch was stained and looked like something had been melted on it; the ice from the fridge tasted like mold and mildew; the room was only marginally clean; the desk staff were not friendly at all; stayed in this same chain in Dallas and ran into the same problem. We were quit impressed with the room,not knowing what we were getting in for because we had never heard of Hawthron Suites, but after checking in the room, it had central Air cond. with seperate thermostats for the up, and downstairs...the kitchen has it all,stove,micro.,ref.toaster, coffee maker, plus dishes, silverware,mugs, glasses etc everything […] your own kitchen has.
