An excellent 360 degree view of Athens from the bar and restaurant on the top floor. A high quality hotel available on that day at a very reasonable price. As hills all around only suitable for the fit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Delightful hotel, a real complement to your stay"
I had the most wonderful stay at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Athens. The location was convenient, the staff were incredibly helpful and polite and the view was phenomenal. I was only disturbed by the large American travelling party that have no regard for other people and made quite a bit of noise in the late hours. The surrounding […] area has numerous shops, bars and restaurants. You have everything you need in perfect reach. I would love to stay at the St George again and hope to in the very near future. "5* it may not be, but definetely worth a return"
This hotel may not be truly be a 5* hotel however the location is fantastic. Roof top views of Athens and its suburbs and of course the Acropolis. Walking distance (no more than 5 minutes) to Kolonaki, which bustles with good restaurants, cafes and shops. We stayed in February, weather was spring like (for UK residents!) and the roads were lined with […] fruit bearing trees. An enchanting location and we will be returning. "Really not 5 star"
The rooms that claim to be 'courtyard view' ....do not be fooled there is no courtyard as such - there is a central well that houses all the chambermaid trolleys so if you are lucky enough to have your window open - these will wake you each morning at 0730!! These rooms are also very small and dark - hardly any natural light at all The rooms are very […] tired, decor shabby, showers didn't work properly in all 3 rooms we ended up in! Wireless internet was crazy overpriced and hardly ever worked Only thing going for this hotel is its location and views (we ended up paying extra to move in to an acropolis room) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Schönes Hotel in bester Lage"
Schade! Vielleicht weil er nicht beheizbar ist!? Very good in the Web presentation but doesn't meet the expectations we had. A rum that was renovated, a water boiler and a sink tab that were leaking, we didn't get clean towels every day and the card opening the door was dysfunctional. The stuff was not as professional as we expected especially during the check in that was around 22.00. The area might […] have a nice view but the room tha we got had no access to it maybe due to the fact that we booked it in a lower price. The area has no free parking space at all and the hotels parking kosta 25 euros per day. No slippers available in the rum. Well the only positive was the easy access to Kolonaki area. Response by St George Lycabettus Hotel Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. Please allow me to assure you that at the St George Lycabettus Hotel our guests come first. Our highly trained team is at your disposal to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The hotel is checked continuously for maintenance and hygiene; thank you for noting the tap issue which has been actioned. Linen and towels are of course changed daily unless our guests wish to take part in our "green scheme" which is explained on cards in each room. The rooms and suites are described in a detailed manner on our website to ensure our guests understand the room type and extras they are booking. Our interior rooms have no balcony sand are priced accordingly; the Acropolis view rooms and suites with private balconies have a higher rate. The exclusive area of Kolonaki has very little parking - the hotel provides an indoor garage at a competitive rate for the area. We always work hard to keep prices at a commutative rate to offer value and a high level of service to our guests. During your stay, we are only too pleased to accommodate your requests for extras such as slippers when required. We hope this assures you of our commitment to each valued guest, Kind regards, The Management Team

Rummen är på sin höjd värda 3 stjärnor. Väldigt nedgånget och knappast modernt. Skum lukt på vårt våningsplan. "Ok hotell i bra läge..."
No privacy alltså..suck.

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Not sure if we were placed in an old room, but the facility was average at best. The front desk greeted us with a cold reception upon arrival and then as mentioned the quality of room wasn't what we expected. All in all the hotel worked for our mere 1 night needs while visiting Athens.
"Poor value and poor location"
10/20/14 CarolinaBecky Wake Forest, Nc
This hotel does NOT deserve its 5 star rating. While it is not horrible, neither is it worth the prices they charge as it doesn't really deliver value. First, if you do not have a car, the location is terrible. The rooftop restaurant/breakfast room has a fabulous view of the Acropolis and the neighborhood and you can get some rooms with the same Acropolis view with an upgrade but it is in a residential neighborhood several steep blocks from Kolonaki Square and is not near ANY public transportation. Everything involves a steep climb up or down unless you rely on taxis. The hotel says it is a "boutique" hotel focusing on style. In reality, while the lobby is lovely as is the restaurant, our room was a bit worn and not particularly stylish. Carpet was spotted and dirty; decor was certainly not particularly stylish. The sliding closet doors stuck and had to be yanked along to stay on track. There were a couple of big modern chairs and a drum table holding a tea service but they simply became obstacles that crowded the room. The multi-spray shower really only worked as a hand-held; while there were many nozzles, they were all plugged up. When we first checked in they gave us a very smoky room; we went back and asked for a non-smoking room and the receptionist was curt and fairly unhelpful. I told her (since it was early on a Saturday morning) that we'd be willing to wait; she gave me a second room that was also clearly a smoking room. I went back down and asked again if they had non-smoking rooms as I am allergic. She grudgingly gave us a room then and low and behold, we ended up on what was clearly labeled a non-smoking floor. Why didn't she give us that in the first place. She was very unhelpful. The room we did get could have been cleaner; it had toothpaste dried on the metal toothbrush holder and the drinking glasses in the bathroom had dried toothpaste on them too. On the other hand, the breakfast is a buffet offering a broad variety of items including smoked salmon, pastries, fried eggs, bacon, sausages, Greek things, nice croissants and breads, an array of fruits and cereals. Coffee is brought in a pot to the table so you can have plenty of hot coffee. The staff works hard. The wait staff in the lobby bar where you can get meals too was very pleasant (the restaurant was closed that night for a special function). This hotel has lots of tour groups so it is not exactly "boutique". Not horrible but not worth it either.
"One night stay"
10/20/14 xenical Scotland
I question the use of the word "boutique". We were staying for one night before joining Star Clippers for a cruise. For one night our room was more than acceptable but it did look onto a wall, with a bathroom which was tired and needed a revamp. We had dinner in their restaurant which had magnificent views over Athens and the meal was very good but the value was helped with a voucher for 20% off and a very good euro exchange rate. Without these bonuses it would have been a tad overpriced. The staff were excellent, most helpful and thoughtful, they pushed up my overall rating of this hotel.

The Saint George has an unbeatable location, beautiful views and proximity to great sights and restaurants. Service remains excellent and breakfast is really wonderful. Likewise, the staff is excellent and caring. However, the hotel is overdue for a refurbishment. We stayed in our usual corner suite (same for many years) and I regret to say that it was pretty downtrodden. Also, a queen size bed should no longer be two single beds placed together. If it was not for the outstanding staff and location I would rate the StG "average". I really look forward to it returning to its great days.
"Nice but not quite expected. Glorious views"
10/17/14 Babbington25 Nottingham, United Kingdom
We stayed at the St George for 2 weeks, perhaps not normal as there was a constant stream of arrivals and departures from tours and cruises and we rarely saw the same guests at breakfast for more than two days. The hotel was billed as a boutique hotel with unusual fabrics and prints - in actuality, unless we missed something, and we did glimpse a lot of rooms being cleaned, the comforable rooms were furnished with the usual boring cream and brown with dark furniture familiar to me from many business trips throughout Europe and beyond. The room had all the usual amenities. We would have liked the facility to make tea - there was an elegant coffee machine but no kettle. However, our room on the fifth floor had one of the best views across to the Acropolis and we sat on the balcony looking over to the setting sun. If you can't get one of the rooms with a view, don't bother as many guests grumbled about their view of walls or a building site. OK if you only want a comfortable bed for a couple of nights. The hotel had a wonderful breakfast served on the sixth floor with the magnificent view. The restaurant is fine - good food but the menu doesn't change so after two or three meals we went out. All the staff were unfailingly helpful and kind, however busy. They are a real asset to the hotel. Just a word of warning. On one Saturday night there was a big wedding in the sixth floor restaurant. There was no notice of this and any guests wanting a meal were squashed into a small downstairs bar. We were on the fifth floor and the thudding music and dancing went on until the small hours followed by the staff moving the furniture around to set up the room for beakfast. There was no chance of sleep. So do ask about their plans. Access to other parts of Athens is down a steep hill but taxis are cheap and the hotel staff get them for you very quickly. All in all a good experience but only if you have one of the high rooms facing the Acropolis.
"Beware Room 521 - crappy view & smelly too"
10/16/14 OTR_Again_IM Iowa
The Good - SGL's breath-taking panoramic restaurant/bar views of Athens and the Acropolis from their roof top is the hotel's best feature. A small draft beer in the bar area cost 7 Euro but was acceptable considering the view of the Parthenon lite up at night. Their freee Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby. There is a small pool on the rooftop. The street and sidewalks in front of SGL are rather steep and not exactly pedestrian friendly. However there were a number of side streets with neighborhood cafes and shops close by. There was a very good local street-restaurant, Dexameni, located just behind the garage side of SGL we frequented. The Bad - unfortunately our tour company did not allow for an upgraded room option at the hotels they booked us in. However, I feel our 'interior courtyard view' room was not quit as advertised on SGL's website. Our 'large window to let natural light in and face either the hotel's courtyard/atrium' had ugly vines growing over a dirty window and our courtyard view was to stare out at a solid stark-white wall. Guess I'd have to agree with a previous reviewer, SGL's courtyard view is crap. However, you'll have the cost of upgrading 3 room levels before you get a decent view of the Acropolis. The Ugly - Ours was the usual old-style European room. Twin beds, small, cramped with barely room between the bed and wall to squeeze 2 large suitcases through; let alone find places off the floor to set both of them. When we arrived we thought it was funny the window was open on an almost 30C/90F day? So we closed it, unpacked and went siteseeing. When we got back we noticed a slight sewer smell in the room. Unfortunately, it was late, we'd unpacked, jetlag, had a Welcome Meeting to attend and were departing on a cruise the next morning (thank God), so didn't press the smell issue with management that evening. Also unfortunate, the sewer smell became considerably stronger as the night progressed. We info'd the desk when we checked out and they assured us they would take care of it. But if your room's window is open when you arrive at SGL, beware....

went with a tour group. very nice room, updated bathroom, breakfast was included with a large variety of foods. excellent view of Acropolis we had a farewell dinner included with our tour and the food was marvelous from the salad, main dish to the luscious chocolate dessert can walk to shopping plazas, if you are a walker, however a taxi can be taken for about 3.5 euro each way make sure to ask for a non smoking floor. we were on i believe the 2nd floor and I noticed the second night it was extremely smoky in hallway.
