Bristol Hotel

Stayed one night to recuperate from the flight from US and do some Zurich sightseeing. The hotel is very conveniently located near train station and old town/shopping district. The hotel itself may need some facelift but the room was clean and the service was great. A very good value for the money given overall exorbitant Zurich hotel prices.

The Zurich Bristol is recently renovated, clean, and very conveniently located near the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The rooms are clean, neat, and generally comfortable. The bathroom is clean and had LOTS of water pressure (although a very small shower, like most European hotels.) We were on the 1st floor, so there was quite a bit of street noise, […] but they had electric hurricane style shutters on the window that kept most of the noise out when closed. The breakfast wasn't great, but was adequate. Hotel staff was friendly and attentive as needed. My only real complaint was that the mattresses were pretty low quality (felt springs jabbing me at times). I would definitely stay again for the price/cleanliness/location package. Read more

It is very close to the train station --5 -10 minutes walking. The hotel room is quite small but it is ok for two adults with 2 small bed. Hotel provides free internet. Room is clean. breakfast is included and nice.

Very conveniently located near the Zurich main station, it is about a 6 ~ 7 minute walk from platform number 16. It is a little tricky to locate, but is very close to Hotel Arlette. The hotel is very small but the rooms are decent sized and clean. Don't expect it to be a Marriott, but it has most things you need. No fridge or coffee maker in the room, […] but you do have a hair dryer and a nice shower (no bathtub). You can buy tea/coffee from the lobby for 3 chf and there are a whole bunch of restaurants and shops within a few minutes walking distance. The breakfast buffet (included in the stay) is fabulous. It is served from 6:30 to 10 am. Has bread, cereals, boiled eggs, various cheeses and jams, cold cuts, tea/coffee/milk, a variety of yoghurts, etc. The pillows in the room are too soft. The beds are comfortable. The staff is very friendly and speak fluent English. You can get a free safe to use (in the lobby) if you ask for it. The TV has many channels (30 to 40 are in English). If you have a lot of luggage, it can be an uncomfortable walk from the Main station to the hotel. Fare from the Main station to Zurich Airport is about 6 chf and takes 10 minutes (each way). Not worth using the hotel bus for around 23 chf per person (but the rate goes down with increasing number of people in the travel group). I would use this hotel again but the key points are clean, compact, decent, great value, fabulous breakfast, convenient location, friendly staff, no frills. Read more

Minimalist room, but beds were comfortable. Breakfast buffet was extremely limited. Good location. Hotel was pricey, but as we soon discovered, all of Zurich and Switzerland is extremely pricy. We had three, my husband, me and our daughter, and finding rooms for three is difficult, but the hotel room had adequate space.

The Bristol Hotel is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood in the "old city" section of Zurich and just a five-minute walk from the railroad station and Bahnhofstrasse. The staff was very pleasant and extremely helpful in recommending restaurants and arranging airport transportation.

This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in throughout our 17 day Europe trip and was probably the least nicely furnished. The bed was very low to the ground -- basically on a short platform and the bedside tables were practically on the floor. There were no bedside lamps and very little else in the room. We had two rooms, a triple and a double. The double was VERY small, reminiscent of a small cruise cabin. Towels were frayed, linens very old. No A/C which was fine, but no room darkening curtains. Only way to keep the light out was to put down the exterior blinds, which would stop any airflow.

We selected this hotel based on recommendation in Rick Steve's book on Switzerland. We were very pleased! The hotel was an easy walking distance from the train station. The lady at the reception desk was friendly and very accommodating. After a day of travel it was great to have friendy face to greet us.She booked a shuttle for us for the airport in […] the am. She gave us a map of Zurich and recommended some places to eat. Our room was spacious and vey clean. It was sould proof! We had two telephones and a new flat screen TV. The bathroom was big and supplied with ample number of towels. It had the best hair dryer of any hotel we have ever stayed in including 5 star hotels. The weather was hot in Zurich...rooms have a fan but no air conditioning. It was a bit warm. Breakfast was ready at 6:00 am.
