The rooms at the Beacon are on the small side -- but still serviceable and tidy. But the bathroom was a real disappointment. The fixtures are older, with no space on the vanity for more than a toothbrush, old, small, rough towels, and not many of them. My hand towels were never replaced after the first day (the used ones were taken away). Tioletries […] were similarly cut-rate quality. This hotel doesn't care about customers. I reserved a room with one bed and was given a double bed room (14) next to the engine room, so noisy that it has no place in any hotel. When I asked for another room I was told 'No'. This hotel is in an unsafe area near the YMCA where alot of homeless and drug problems persist. We booked this hotel for a business trip and found the hotel staff unhelpful from the moment we walked in and they just watched us struggle to get through the doors with our film equipment without helping. After a rude man helped me check in they finally helped us bring our bags to the room. Later when we asked for some water they charged us $4 a bottle […] for what we later learned was reused water bottles filled with tap water. They charge $35 for overnight parking and their room service is grossly overpriced. And of course when our food arrived we were given free water when they charged us the night before. I would never stay at this hotel again. I find the rooms very small and the bathrooms are tiny. The bathrooms have a small pedestal sink. The rest of the room is, in my opinion, the size of a European hotel room.

Over night stay for my boyfriend's birthday celebration. The hotel was very nice, everything clean, everyone welcoming. There's a picture of out bed, which I thought was really cute! My only trouble was that they charged me an extra $4 for a bottle of water. The hotel shut the A/C off for the winter season however in late November it was warm and the hotel was burning up. The room was 80+ degrees and now way of turning the AC. Front desk had no solution other that to open the window, which was only allowed to be opened about 2 inches. Unfortunately, the construction across the street is loud and made this stay a very unpleasant one. The work started between 6:30 - 6:45 each morning and was really loud. When I told the front desk, they just shrugged and said the city gave them a permit to start early. A warning when I checked in and/or made the reservation would have been nice. pleasantly surprised when upgraded to a suite because it was my birthday but I was shocked when I found a cold bottle of champagne in the suite. This hotel is in a great location, easy walk to food, sightseeing, and metro stations. The staff at check in were very nice and helpful, they gave us info on how to get around and places we should see. The rooms were spotless and spacious, and very new looking. When we come back to dc we will stay here again.

Staff people were very courteous and the place was clean. Great location and very reasonably priced. They had posters all over announcing their "sky bar" so I got all exited about getting a glass of wine with a view, but it was closed - they should take their posters down when they close the sky bar.

If you are looking for somewhere clean with no frills this is for u. The elevator doesn't work so you have to carry your bags up 3+ flights of stairs. Awesome flatscreen TV with no cable. I only staued for one night than moved to the Hilton.

Friendly staff, spacious rooms, reasonable rates. And if you are hungry at night, you can call for pizza delivery located near the hotel (which does not have 24-hour room service). No complaints. Would stay there again.

There are 2 reasons I didn't give the hotel 5 stars. The first being that when I booked the hotel, I booked a King Suite. When we got there the staff was great and the hotel was beautiful BUT when we opened the door to the room there was 2 double beds and no King! So i went to tell them the mistake and of course there were no King Suites left and we […] had to take a queen with no price cut at all. It wasn't a huge deal but its the point of it. The second reason the hotel didn't get 5 stars from me was that there was no continental breakfast and the lowest breakfast option for some scrambled eggs was 15 dollars! I'm not poor or starving but really? I just think a hotel of that caliber can do a nice breakfast. Other than that it was great and the room had some nice amenities (VOSS water and great bathroom toiletries). The staff was great and the type of guests as well, except for the party going on across the hall that filled the hallway with marijuana smoke but security took care of that too haha. I travel alot and I have NEVER felt so disrespected from hotel personel ever before, they where extreamly rude.
