The Orlando

High marks for this recently remodeled hotel. The staff was friendly and the beds were comfy. Parking was valet only, but their service was very fast. We got a great rate on Expedia and found the hotel to be an excellent value.

I stayed here for 5 nights while my friends were down the road at The Farmer's Daughter. I was weary of the neighborhood but the front desk staff assured me I would be safe walking to my friends' hotel & I definitely was. 3rd street is lined w/lots of restaurants so the street was often filled w/valets which made me feel safe even when walking at night. […] I'm from Chicago but I know that there's shady neighborhoods in other cities just like we have here but this was not a shady neighborhood! When I checked in, the front desk staff was extremely friendly. I made my way up to my 2nd floor room & it was huge (I later found out it was a handicap room). The bathroom was beautiful- I loved the magnifying mirror & toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath foam, shower cap, shoe shine cloth, & a pack containing a nail file, q-tips, hairband, & cotton squares). There were plenty of towels & a hair dryer as well. The window in my room had a view of the stairway leading up to the pool (next time I'll request a room w/a balcony or outdoor seating area). The room consisted of a comfy queen sized bed w/4 pillows, 2 end tables, alarm clock w/an ipod dock, desk, large armoire w/hangers, underbed drawers, sofa, coffee tables, HUGE tv, mini fridge w/fully stocked honor bar, & a coffee maker (complimentary YUMMY teas & coffee). Obviously, I was impressed. I checked in on a Wednesday night & there was some noise outside my room in the hall or another room which I think was coming from meeting rooms on the same floor. I'm not one to complain but I felt it was late & wanted to get some sleep so I considered calling the front desk, until I realized it was only 9:45pm (I was still on CST time so it was 11:45pm for me!). Every morning there was a newspaper hanging on my door & most nights there was a card w/the next day's forecast & 2 chocolates on my pillow- a perk many hotels have forgotten about but not The Orlando. Great location and the hotel is contemporary and clean. The value for price was fantastic! The parking is too pricie so the savings on the hotel is spent on parking! Location is great and plenty of restaurants and bars to in walking distance! 1-block away from the Beverly Center!

When we arrived we were greated by an Incredibly Friendly staff. This was the first time I have ever stayed in this hotel and was upgraded to a suite. Once we got to our room a staff member called to make sure our room was up to our standard. A level of customer service not offered anymore. I loved the Orlando - from check-in to check-out the staff went out of their way to be helpful and courteous. The location is amazing. Just off of 3rd st. in W. Hollywood - a very short walking distance to wonderful shops and restaurants (including Joan's on 3rd for great food & baked goods AND Kings Road Cafe for the best cup of coffee I have EVER […] had) My room was large and had every amenity I needed or wanted. The even directed me to the newly-opened onsite bar where I got a delicious glass of wine to take to my room. The only thing I didn't love was the valet entrance is very small and confusing, and the overnight parking fee is pretty expensive. We have stayed at The Orlando several times, but this was are best time yet. The rooms and bathrooms were updated. There is a new restaurant, The Churchill, which was very fun. It was trendy, loud, crowded and the food was good too! There are several restaurants within walking distance.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The room itself and atmosphere was good. I enjoyed all the decor and everything seemed to be very nice. The bed was pretty comfy but not great. I recently stayed here and upon check in my room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. I asked to be moved and it only got worse. Another guest was smoking herbal cigarettes and the smoke traveled into my room. I called the front desk and noone seemed to care.

Was all over happy with the hotel. Till after my check out. Paid for extra charges like valet room service ect. Have not even left the parking lot and hotel put a charge on my credit card for a smoking fee. It was a $200 fee for something I did not do or okay the charge. For those reason I will not return.

We have stayed there before and found the reno to be less convenient than the old rooms. The room is bigger but the bathroom is smaller. Construction all around which we did not know about. Strange noises upstairs in the middle of the night. Too bad because we like the location - convenient to our kid's house.

We used the "secret" hotel deal on expedia where you dont know the name until you book and pay, let me tell you it will be the last time i ever book a hotel without knowing what it is. The Orlando is a dirty little side street hotel that looked to be once a holiday inn or something along those lines...i would have been happy if it were a holiday inn […] as i believe they clean the rooms properly. The lifts and floors smell like strong sulfar...yes rotten egg gas.....thats the cloest i can come to explaining the horrible smell without having to think about it again and gag from the memory, literally when i stepped onto my floor i almost threw up. The room itself was also dirty, the only clean thing was the sheets....i hope, the walls and ceiling had mold and other "dirt" and basically i didnt take off my socks the entire trip as i didnt want to walk touching the floors with my bare skin....now you might think this guy is just a complainer but i can say this is only about my second review ever....im an expedia Elite VIP(whatever that means)and i had to write this review in hope someone else wont waste there money although being a "secret" hotel pick i suppose no one will know until its too late. Cleanliness was ok, and bathrooms and bedrooms are old despite the new comforters and ipod speakers. Definitely needs more improvements. Restaurant was busy and only had one person attending. Only recommend it for its location (near Beverly Center).
