Delta Ottawa City Centre - Ottawa

Great location and our grandchildren loved the salt water pool. We parked and walked to all the sites on our list---the Parliament Buildings, the Royal Canadian Mint, the Currency Museum, Byward Market, Rideau Canal, restaurants and shopping. Would recommend it and will stay there again.

This hotel was very adequate. Everything was as expected - there were no additional amenities that would have earned it a higher rating. The room had a bed, tv, radio, wifi, and ironing board. Pretty sparse - not adequate for a longer stay - but for a getaway long weekend it sufficed.

The hotel description should mention that it is under construction. It does look like it will be quite nice once it's done. The rooms were already renovated and were quite nice, except that the bathroom is a little on the small side, and (this is a pet peeve of mine) the faucet for the sink is too close to the edge (i.e. the water runs too close to […] the edge), so that you can't actually wash your hands comfortably. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would have given the hotel a higher rating if the construction had been finished, and if the parking lot was better marked. Read more

I booked on line. When I checked in and asked if I could use my AMA card or my CARP I was told that it could not be used. I was not impressed that I also have to pay for parking even if I am a guest. This was not a happy experience. I have stayed in many hotels and was surprised that I had to pay for parking at this one.

I am used to hotels on both sides of the spectrum: ritzy five-stars and lowly motels. This stay, however, I will never forget. Coming to Ottawa for a three-day conference, I didn't know what to expect.. but found the hotel to have THE friendliest staff that worked with you to address your needs and concerns, SUPER-CLEAN rooms and hallways, and a breathtaking […] view of the city. The hotel staff can even provide a fridge and a microwave upon request and the parking fees are very reasonable (with an ability to leave and re-enter the garage for free using the parking pass). The hotel is very close to everything, being located in the heart of downtown Ottawa.. so walking (or driving) to restaurants and sights was a breeze. If you want to mail things out, the Post Office is about 5 blocks away and there is a mail drop system within the hotel with frequent pick-up times. I am genuinely impressed with the Delta Hotel and am absolutely infatuated with Ottawa! Highly recommended.. you won't regret your stay here. Read more

Parking was terrible for a truck, I had to park across the street for $25/night Major construction going on in the lower levels of hotel, very loud. My wife and I chose the Delta City Center Hotel for our stay in Ottawa because it was handy to the downtown area, and the rate quoted was attractive. What we didn't know at the time of booking was that the hotel was undergoing major construction and renovation, inside and out. On check-in, we found that there was no hotel directory in our room. This […] is the book that contains info about the hotel, location of hotel services, telephone charges (more on this later), and most importantly, safety information such as location of fire escape routes. We called the front desk about this, and they said they'd send a bellman up right away with a copy. The bellman never showed up, and we had to make the request again the next day in person at the front desk. The book was in our room that night, but it contained no information about the hotel at all - only advertisements for nearby restaurants. Even though construction wasn't taking place within 5 floors of our room, the carpets in our corridor were filthy with drywall/cement dust throughout our stay. The only evidence of cleaning we saw was when a housekeeping person was seen mopping the lobby floor outside the elevator a couple of times. The final insult was the charge for three LOCAL phone calls, at $1.00 + tax each, when we checked out. Most hotels spell out their telephone charges in their hotel directory, a copy of which is usually to be found in each room. However, we never received one of those books, so we had no way of knowing there would be a charge for local calls. All in all, we had a very disappointing stay at the Delta Ottawa City Centre. Changed rooms 3 times due to various problems, i.e: no water in shower or sink. Under reconstruction. Could not find where to park or even where to enter hotel. However, the staff did go out of their way to find us a room that was acceptable.

The hotel tried to keep open -- convention rooms were fine, but could have been used in connection with the Delta Hotel across the street. Gym was fine, too. But the cleaning staff for our room focused on bed, sink, pick up laundry on the floor onlly Not one day did the bug on the bathroom floor get removed; thus, the floor was not cleanned.

This hotel is very well located, has very comfortable rooms, a great swimming pool and very accommodating personnel. However, they are under renovation. And apparently, part of the workers staff stay at the hotel. The workers use the same elevators than the rest of the guests and it's obviously impossible to keep them clean. Not to mention the terrible […] construction noise that starts 8 am sharp on weekdays. Everything about this hotel was great except the construction. It was difficult to find the entrance at night, but once found the service was outstanding! While the hotel is under renovation, the rooms and the floors, at least those I saw, are not affected.

I was a bit concerned after reading a couple of other reviews but my mind was put to rest. Upon arrival, the staff were your typical Delta staff. All were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we were comfortable. The hotel was not quite up to Delta standards but they have just purchased this hotel and are just starting renovations. A very pleasant stay for 3 nights. Excellent service from all levels of personnel. We decided to change rooms and we were accomodated in no time. Situated close to Wellington and the Parlement and not to forget Sparks street. Self parking was easy. I'll recommend this hotel anytime.

The Delta Ottowa City Centre is situated two blocks from Canadian Parlament and nice places to eat and shop. Very nice rooms, pool, and workout facilites at you disposal. Enjoyed the stay very much.

The staff were very nice and helpful. We were disappointed when we got to our floor/room though. The conditions of the carpet and wall paper was quite old and run down. The room was very small. No comfortable chairs to sit in, just desk type chairs. The bathroom was so tiny that you could barely fit infront of the vanity. The pool was very cold and […] adults and kids were complaining. The pool area was not like the photo with plants and nice furniture. The squash court was dismal and old with paint coming off the walls. We didn't know exactly where the Delta Ottawa City Centre was in relation to our visit to the Winterlude Jaques Cartier park for the ice slides, but it was one of the few options for a family of 5 that had a pool, seemed to be reasonably close and reasonably priced. We were very pleased when we found it to be just across the bridge from Hull a little […] west of Parliament Hill and only 5 minutes from Jaques Cartier/Musum of Civilization, so very easy to get to. The check-in was fast (we did have to wait an hour for our room to be readied when we arrived at 2 PM) and the service pleasant. Everything was clean, nice soaps and bath accouterments, though the bathroom was small. We enjoyed the indoor pool -- a good feature when traveling with three kids under 9 years of age. Very satisfied overall. The only drawback was that parking is not included in the room rate, so it was a substantial additional charge to park overnight (the parking garage is not owned by the hotel, but spaces are reserved specifically for hotel guests). Stayed here for 2 days on the week-end. Friendly staff at the lobby and the restaurant. Great pool for kids. Room was clean, modern and had everything we needed for a short stay. Asked for a mini-fridge and received it within 5 minutes. Convenient location with parking and a Tim Horton's downstairs. The Downtown Delta is in a great location for anyone in town on business. The newly renovated lobby is bright, clean and modern, with lots of spaces to hold impromptu discussions. Hotel desk staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival and throughout my stay. My room was large and well appointed. I loved the concept of the "internet wall" located on […] the desk- with pull out cords to support various kinds of connectivity and a host of plugs for laptop, smart phones etc. They really gave some thought to this - best set-up for working I have every seen. Unfortunately some of the features (e.g.) projecting my laptop through the big flat screen, did not work. I assume this is still a work in progress. The only negative was the service in the dinning room. When I went in for breakfast the hostess pointed at a table for me to sit and said she would be right with me. I waited 20 minutes for service and finally had to set the table myself and go to the buffet to get food. The hostess was unapologetic and simply dropped a bill on my table. I had to ask for juice and coffee rather curtly to get any service. This instance aside, I would recommend it to any business traveller. Read more
