"Central location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Excellent location in the centre of Leuven, so close to shops /restaurants etc. Underground parking next to hotel, tricky to find due to roadworks but receptionist provided easy directions. Within walking distance if arriving by train.

"good but expensive"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 30, 2012
Like all other hotels during Seafood Expo The Sheraton charges top prices. The quality and choice in the Club Lounge didn't reflect the high room charges
"Comfortable, contemporary room"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 30, 2012
This was my first stay at the Sandton. Very close to the Metro and mainlines stations (Central) and a short walk to the Grand Place. Very friendly and efficient staff - I checked in and out really quickly. My room was quiet, contemporary and had a massive bed (must have been a superking). Didn't have the breakfast as this was more than my allowed subsitance rate. I would stay at the Sandton again.

A heart-shaped ring road defines Brussels’ city core, and most of its visitor attractions. Within these limits, the centre consists of two distinct halves. To the west is the Lower Town, a tangle of medieval streets centred on the Grand Place, a vast cobbled square surrounded by ornate Flemish buildings. To the east is the newer and more aristocratic Upper Town, a zone of palaces and parks, grand museums, and gothic churches.

Good business hotel by Brussels standards; well-run and clean and efficient, if a bit bland. E20 charge for daily wifi is basically extortion, but at least the rooms are clean and the staff polite

"Good Location - nice hotel"
Very handy location near Grande Platz and central station. Good breakfast. Internet a bit slow. Overall good value.

"Good location but small rooms"
Hotel is ideally located just 2 minutes walk from the central station. Friendly staff. Rooms are ok but miss some amenities for a 5 stars.
"Not so five star hotel"
This hotel was probably a five hotel 30 years ago. However, nowadays it is old, decaying and could do with a lick of paint. The location is very good, as it is close to the Grand Place and the central train station. The rooms are OK clean but dated, the staff are friendly enough. This hotel is probably a three star standard now. Be careful, they charge […] you for items from the minibar even if you just pick something up and put it back......there are no signs to warn guests of this! Read more
"Poor Bar and Staff"
Staff not helpful but good location.
"Real disappointment"
All the peripheral bars, club and facilities attached to the hotel were closed. Rooms were too small and in desperate need of refreshing.

"Location was redeeming feature"
The hotel has an excellent location which made up for the other factors which had fallen below expectations. We had high expectations on booking the hotel, however, a few points were disappointing namely: Rooms are in need of a renovation. OPur room was a non-smoking one, however, had a strong tobacco odour. We complained to reception who didn't seem […] to take us very seriously but agreed in the end to transfer us to another room (even though the hotel wasn't full). The next room was smelling equally as bad of stale tabacco. Given we were only staying for 1 night we put up with it. I was quite shocked to learn to have a tea making facilities in the room meant paying an additonal 8 Euros, something I hadn't encountered before even in the cheapest hotels! I'd expect this to be complimentary given the hotels star rating and the amount you pay for as room. I find the principle of paying extra for what is normally included in your room very poor indeed. Bathroom was a little old with leaking shower. As mentioned overall the hotel served it's purpose given it's excellent location, however, in hindsight I believe we could have got better value for money at an alternate nearby hotel. Read more
Lovely Hotel with a great location. Breakfast far too expensive 30 Euros each but loads of cafes and bars nearby to eat in. Very clean and well presented, lovely would go back. Just one thing car park very costly 25 Euros to park overnight can park in the nearby car parks for a lot less and just a small walk, would go back though spotless!
"Royal Windsor Hotel in Brussels"
We had a short stay booked and stayed only two nights. The exterior and interior of the hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly though I was expecting them to be rude after reading some reviews before my stay. Fortunately for us the staff were very accomodating. Location of the hotel was perfect - moments to the Central station and short walk to the […] grand place. There was a bit of noise in the evening but I didn't mind so much as we were there only two nights and it just made me feel that people were obviously having a good time but that was the only fault. "Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place"
Checked us in to our room even though we were very early which was great. Very convenient location but not right on the Grand Place which was good as it would have been noisy at night. Very comfortable room ['Superior' which for them is 'Standard'] with everything you would expect + a bit more. We did not breakfast at the hotel as too expensive but […] plenty of other places are nearby; but we had a drink in the bar which was very pleasant if expensive. Read more
"Great hotel"
Great hotel. Great area. Minor problem of wood rot in the bathroom (203). Pleasant staff.
"Excellent hotel, I would definately recommend."
I arrived at this hotel with my partner having recieved a very good deal for a one night stay, and was pleasantly suprised when we were upgraded to an executive suite (having booked a superior room). The suite was lovely with excellent views of the grand place - which was especially beautiful when lit up at night time. We ordered room service, which […] was lovely. All staff we're very friendly and went out of their way to help. Additionally, this hotel accepted dogs (for a small additional charge, cheaper than many others) which was the main reason we booked in to this hotel. We will definately be returning soon. Read more
"Amazing Hotel, Location second to none!"
Booked the hotel on a whim on a Friday afternoon as we'd never been to Brussels before and it turned out to be the perfect place to explore from. Staff were fantastic and facilities were spot on. Two small things that we figured out fairly quickly-the hotel restaurant is lovely, but I would go into town to eat for better value for money and also, don't […] bother using their parking as there is an excellent interparking underground car park in the square 1 minute round the corner that saved us 30 Euros during our stay! "Royal Windsor - Great Location, Good Quality"
The hotel is readily reached from the exit to the main line "Brussels Centraal" Station. The Metro exit is a tortuous route away. The hotel is a very good standard. Try and get a room that is at the front. The rear overlooks the fire exit. Breakfast is exorbitantly expensive. So, go out to a Cafe. Air Conditioning controls had no effect, but we were […] not uncomfiortable. Staff are very riendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean and good quality. Our second stay here and no regrets. Read more
"Royal Windsor - not a 5 star hotel"
- I booked 2 rooms with this hotel, one of the rooms given to me has a faulty safe, nothing was done after we called the reception to complain, the next day we went to the reception and was told by the staff that there was no record of complaint! and yet they did not plan to fix the room safe, the hotel staff told us that we have got 2 rooms and the […] safe in other room is working, I do not expect this kind of attitude in a 5 star hotel. I have paid full price for both rooms so I should have a working safe in BOTH rooms! -you have to pay for coffee/tea facilities in your room, no bedroom slipper -soap holder in my bathroom was rusty -the cushion placed on top of our bed looks dirty, I can see dust on it -the only thing I like about this hotel is its location, other than that I was quite disappointed with this "5 star" hotel Read more
"Very good location"
Hotel was in a convenient location, right next to Brussels central station. Hotel was good, although the room needed some maintenance. We were supposed to get a "Bussiness Premier Room" as part of an offer, but I don't think that was the case. It was just a standard double room. Neighbourhood was very noisy.
"Royal Windsor - 5 star disappointment"
I walked passed this hotel a few times during my last stay in Brussels, and it looked rather nice, so when I saw they had a reduced rate (about a third normal rate) I decided to stay. They are 5 star rated hotel, and have most of the facilities one would expect, however the actual standard of the rooms inclusions falls far short. The regular tea/coffee […] that is near universal in hotels was an optional extra (at a cost), the toiletries were basic, and the shampoo/conditioner was terrible. No turn down service, no mint, no special touches. There was no minibar price list in the room, and I had to request one. The room cleaning seemed to have been rushed as there were other things not quite up to the standard I would expect. The service was perfunctory, far below the standard one expects. Breakfast was an extra, at about 3 times the rate of other hotels I've stayed in, in Brussels and was the usual disappointing melange of American/Continental/English, lacking in originality, thought or true local flavour. After this experience, I will probably look at a nice local 3 star or pension for my next visit. The facilities might be fewer, but the service and friendliness is likely to make up for it. Read more
"Royal Windsor Hotel Grand'Place"
This hotel's location is excellent as it is so close to the must see sights in Brussels Central. Besides, the hotel room is clean and spacious. The reception is also very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel
"Royal Windsor Hotel Grand'Place"
We have visited Brussels three times and always have stayed at the Royal Windsor. The hotel is located at the centre of Grand Place which makes it very easy access to the Grand Square, cafe's, restaurants, bars and plenty of shops specialing in 'Chocolates'. It's a great location if you like all those things.... have a great stay!
"Lovely hotel great location."
The Royal Windsor is an elegant, nicely appointed hotel. The service was excellent. The location was convenient and walking distance to all of the sites. I am pleased that I decided to stay at this hotel during our visit to Brussels

"Very Good Roayal Windsor"
Very convenient to Brussels Centraal station and just 100 metres from Grand Place. All Hotel staff trained to be friendly and helpful (exception was a surly check-out receptionist). Bathroom plumbing is a little tired - wastes need to be purged and shower updated - but acceptable.Hotel Restaurant kitchen was extremely slow. Breakfast was excellent range […] and good quality buffet. Very good internet access. Many high quality restaurants nearby. Very good hotel. Just some modernisation and it could be excellent. "Royal Windsor Hotel.Grand 'Place"
The staff in this hotel would not lift their head to say good morning/evening etc. They treat you as if they are better than you, the carpet in the bedroom was disgusting the way it was stained. No face cloths and the bear minimum of toiletries and this is supposed to be a 5* Hotel, I would class it a 3*+
"Beware of additional costs"
Beware that even though it is suggested that breakfast is NOT included, they will charge you per person. I was shocked to learn two coffees and a croissant was to cost me and my partner the same rate as the room! Be careful, to say that the breakfast is overpriced is a vast understatement and my impression is that they are trying to catch customers […] out. Parking is also not included but the price is reasonable for the location. Overall, a good hotel with pleasant staff and a great location. The rooms were small however and they was some maintenance that we were not made aware of. Read more
"Royal Windsor Hotel Grand Place- Brussels"
The hotel is in an easy position to move around the centre, closely situated to the Grand Place where you may find yourself spending most of your time. The room wasn't quite what I would call 5star- more like 3 or 4, no luxury at all (which is surely the point to 5 star??) At night the room became too hot through the heating, even with the thermostat […] turned right down (it was snowing for most of the weekend, but we still had the window open!) We asked at the desk about getting a taxi for our return to the train station and they simply gave us a number instead of making the phonecall on our behalf, or through their system. The cab number didn't work- or the cab company didn't want to answer it because it was a foreign number, so was pointless. The customer service desk also told us we didn't have to book for a meal at the restaurant at the Atomium, yet when we got there were told you have to book one week in advance- so not particularly helpful there either. However because it was easy to move around from it was ideal as a place to stay and get out to see Brussels. Overall things were satisfactory, but didn't contain that 5 star sparkle at all. Read more
"Great location by the Grand Place"
Room was small and a little bit shabby so not really 5 star. Did not think they should charge for tea and coffee making facilities in the room! Otherwise very comfortable. Central location, and friendy, helpful staff. Did not try the bar or restaurant as it was always empty and there are so many places nearby.
"Great service but don't touch the minibar"
Enough said. The prices are pretty outrageous and not well advertised. 6 EUR for a minutemaid and 5 EUR for a mini water. Telephone call prices were pretty extreme also. Nice hotel and great staff, just steer clear of some of the extras

"Royal Windsor- Brussels"
The location of the hotel is great, five mins walk from all atractions, shops, station etc. We found the hotel very noisy /the cleaner starts hoovering at 7,30- 8 am in the morning, you can hear that noise easily or you can listen the conversation between the housekeepers. Also we found the staff unfriendly and not helpfull.
"Royal windsor Hotel : great location"
Hotel has wonderful location just steps from Grand Place, and a host of restaurants. My room was average for this category , comfortable but not luxurious; decor /fixtured could do with updating.
"Royal Windsor Hotel Grand'Place, Brussels"

"not a 5 star anymore"
we thought it was going to be better, but the bathrooms were not very clean and the tile grout between the bathroom tiles, inside and outside the shower area was missing a lot, leaving open cracks (holes) in the wall. The shower curtains were blackish all around the lower part, the small wood area of the room was loose and squeeke as we walked over […] it. There was no coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board and/or iron on the room and for the price was a very simple and small room. Will not return if offer for free, thanks but no. Close to tourist are, but just that!!!!!!! Read more
"perfect location"
easy trans from gare central, perfect location for grand place and restaurants
"Small and expensive"
No water provided in the room and everything (EVERYthing!!) cost you extra (event a coffeemaker/hot water in your room....). Conveniently located to most of touristy places. Room is a size on the closet. Dirty carpet (worst then the airport security screening area). Shower didn't work. Will no go there next time in Brussels.

"Almost Perfect."
I stayed at the Royal Windsor for five nights and my stay was almost perfect. The location is awesome....it is a five minute walk to the Grand Place, a train station, and countless other attractions in the city. The hotel was clean and I felt the amenities were more than sufficient for the price I paid. My only issue with the hotel was the ridiculous […] amount I was charged for calling America. Before I placed the calls I called the front desk to ask how much it would cost a minute to call the States; I was told that although noone was aware of the exact rates. I pressed the matter by asking...."well it won't be like $5 a minute will it?". Imagine my suprise when I checked out and was charged @ $8 a minute to call the my family back home. To make the matters even worse, when I expressed my annoyance to the front desk staff about the high amount I was charged I was told "well everyone knows that it costs around that amount to make international calls". "Good Location"
Hotel was very close to the main attractions.
"Shoddy Customer Service"
I will not be returning to this hotel. The front desk staff were too preoccupied with a local television show that was filming to get me into my room after an overseas flight. Furthermore, they put a 100 euro hold on the credit card I provided at check in without so much as telling me. I only found out several days later when I saw it listed online […] as a pending charge (my room was pre-paid and I had no additional charges for anything at any point during my stay). Read more

"Noise a problem at the weekend"
I stayed here for a week at the end of March 2012. The hotel is situated in a great spot. It is well appointed and clean. However, the rooms facing the street (Duquesnoy) having single glazing and there was a lot of noise till the early morning from revellers over the weekend. I did't expect this for an expensive room!

"Review"
A bit noisy with the tourists celebrating in the street, but not the hotel's fault. Blame that on Belgium beer-and tourists. Excellent breakfast. Staff is efficient, helpful, and very pleasant.
"Great weekend"
Everything was great, location, service, quality. The only thing was the parking, €50 for two days and breakfast was €30 per day.
Breakfast buffet was very good. however, most of the food was out very quickly. still a great stay.
"Overall good hotel"
By European standards, this is a great hotel. Great location right across the street from train station and around corner from main square. One thing that made me a little upset was that that the interest was advertised as free and that is only for a wired connection. That didnt do me any good for my Ipad but if I wanted wireless it was 20 Euro more […] a day. I specifically looked for hotels with internet included in the price so felt a little scammed. Read more
