The Gresham is a grand hotel in the heart of City Center. It's location could not be better for touring around the sights of Dublin. The common areas are elegant and upscale. The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our visit. This is a beautiful, historic hotel with super-comfy beds and the biggest bathtubs I've ever seen in a hotel. We loved it so much we ended up extending our stay! Within five minutes walk to Liffey River and 10 minutes to Temple Bar area---a very nice walk!

Wonderful classic hotel. This may or may not be the best hotel in Dublin, but to my mind it is the hotel to stay in ! The staff are even polishing the brass hand rails for the main steps at 7am in the morning.

I have been taking my mother to the Gresham for our yearly treat for Christmas for the last 4 years and have to say that this was the worst one ever. We spent one night there , the room was great and check in was fine. We had dinner in the resturant that night and the service really was bad , no one came to clear our table or ask if we needed anything […] else we had to keep asking for service. Next day we sat in the main room by the Christmas tree and although I got up twice to ask the waiters for service they never came near us , we waited 25 minutes and left and had lunch in Ann's Bakery down the street , which was amazing. Your team were not busy and cleared tables around us but never came to us to ask if we needed anything. I work in the food service industry and know that ignoring customers is definetley a way to lose business , maybe you don't need one nighters but there are plenty of hotels that do. We really had a very disapointing experience and although I am coming back again to Ireland from New York in March I am sorry to say that I will be giving the Gresham a miss. I thought the staff was great. Originally they had put me in a room in the front of the hotel but after one night I asked to be moved, it was way to noisey and Im not that light of a sleeper. I had to ask them for the first room to turn the heat on as the main control but not the tempature is controlled by the management. In the second room they had […] turned it on but turned it off at some point so my third night I was cold. Also on two occasions the water was luke warmn at best. The towel warmer in each room didnt work. The location of the hotel was pretty good but would rather stay closer to the action in D2. On thier website they make it sound like admitance to the gym outside is free but their was a 10 Euro charge. I do have to say that the staff was great but dont think that I would stay their again. Looking at the web site for the hotel you would believe that it was much nicer. I want to say it was clean. But the furniture looked like it was from the late 60's or 70's. Went into the bathroom to take a shower and the hot water was not working and the tub was falling apart. The entire front panel of the tube was coming off the tub. All of Dublin lay outside the front door, and I would consider the city more convenient for walking to as many sights as possible, .but be careful of some of the side streets off Upper O'Connell's Street, and Parnell Square after dark.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights as part of a belated honeymoon holiday. Our first room was well kept and beautiful, but did not have air conditioning. As it was quite warm the weekend of our stay, we asked if it would be possible the next day to switch rooms, even if it meant paying a little more. The staff were always professional, friendly, and quick to assist. The location is great for both touring and public transportation access, and the building is nicely furnished and historic. Pluses: the tourists buses stop around the corner from the hotel, which is fantastic. The airlink bus to the airport is 6 euros and stops by the hotel, which is fantastic as well. O'Connell street is an excellent location, if the weather is good and you enjoying walking then there are a lot of sites close by. Trinity College, the Dublin Writer's Museum, […] the Dublin City Gallery are definitely walkable to name a few. I was on the fourth floor facing the street and barely heard any traffic, although I was there during the week so perhaps weekends are louder. I'm a light sleeper so I always wear ear plugs, that could be why I wasn't bothered as well. The bathroom was lovely. The complimentary wireless was VERY nice to have. I found the hotel did not nickle and dime you, which was fantastic. The food in the Writer's Lounge was reasonably priced and VERY good. I didn't partake in the breakfast as it was expensive, so I went literally a few doors down to an all day breakfast place and had decent food for 6-ish euros. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful and you can buy Dublin City Tour bus tickets there for a euro off, 17 euros for a 48 hour pass which was excellent. I was able to control the temperature of the room which was nice. I was there in late April, early May 2012 so I didn't need air conditioning. Cons: My bed wasn't all that comfy. It felt lumpy like someone put potatoes in the mattress. It wasn't unbearable just kind of odd. That's my only con! Read more

The Gresham Hotel is in a great location its a pity I didn't stay there on my last three visits to Dublin. Its only two hundred metres to the Spire & Malls on the north of the Liffey River and approx. 10 mins walk to Grafton Mall. It is next door to the Savoy Movie Theatre (something you can do when it rains in Dublin which seems to be most of the time!). The Wi-Fi was quite good in the room and the satellite TV stations were numerous so plenty to do while you recover from your days activities. Location was perfect for our first time in Dublin. It's a lovely oasis from the bustle of O'Connell St. It was almost across the street from the bus to the airport which made everything very easy. Our twin room had a view of an ugly cement wall but the lovely bathroom, free wi-fi, and location made that irrelevant to us.
