"Great History, Excellent Hotel"
Excellent decor in the hotel with a very comfortable room. We stayed in the "historic" Mary Lake Suite and found it to be great. The staff was extremely helpful and the breakfast was a perfect start to busy days exploring the city. Excellent place to stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute, comfortable hotel experience"
The hotel was very cute. It is in an old victorian home and very comfortable. Breakfast was OK but the service is outstanding and it very quaint. Perfect for a short stay in the city. In a very cute neighborhood as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great vintage San Francisco experience"
The St Anne is located in a very convenient area of the city, very near to Japan town It's got a wonderful relaxed, small-hotel feel to it and is the perfect base for a visit to the City. Furnishings are simple, but it's all there, well maintained, and attractive.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful Old Hotel"
It is a beautiful old hotel. We had a fireplace in our room and a duralog was provided each night. There is sherry and cookies each evening. Coffee hot chocolate and tea are available all day in the spectacular sitting room. The sitting room has two fireplaces, newspapers, tons of old period furniture, and lots of room to lounge and relax. We went on […] the haunted tour that meets right at the hotel and learned a lot about SF history and had a lot of fun. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a beautiful hotel in a fun area of town. It is like stepping back in time to the Victorian Era with all of the carved wood and velvet drapes. The common areas are great to relax in and plan your day. Even though we were there in July it was coolish and the fireplaces gave a welcoming atmosphere. The grand stairway was fun to use to see the landings […] of each floor. Of course there is an elevator too. I loved the bench in it! I cannot say enough about the great staff. They were always so helpful and friendly even to the extent of walking us outside to get oriented to where to go. Thanks Michael! Coming from very warm weather in Georgia I was concerned about the lack of AC, however there was no need for air-conditioning. We slept very well with the window open each night. My only area of "needs improvement" would be the bathroom of my particular room. However, I can say that it was serviceable and clean. The breakfast was very good and the coffee tasty. I would stay there again. Almost forgot to mention the complimentary car service to down town each morning - that is a terrific perk! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Experience Doesn't Live Up to Name"
Queen Anne Hotel in San Francisco sounds romantic and alluring. The reality is that it's seen better days. The furniture in the room is old and beaten up, walls thin - a bit sad. The main floor is a bit nicer and the staff are friendly. Breakfast is forgettable. It's walkable to Fillmore and Japan Town, but these are not tourist destinations. We would […] not recommend, there are better places in San Francisco. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Very historic. Only issue was the location was a good distance from the Warf. We really enjoyed this hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"spend a night in an historic San Fran hotel"
The breakfast is complimentary every day. If your not super picky you will be pleased. They had hardboiled eggs, sausage, a waffle maker and an assortment of breads, pastries, and cereals available every morning. We found it to be very convenient and it was nice to not have to walk somewhere in the city for breakfast. Also we were able to take turns […] eating while one was in the room with the baby which was an added bonus. The rooms have Direct TV, the Wifi is very good for a building over 100 years old. Every afternoon they set out complimentary Sherry and cookies which were very yummy. This encourages patrons to relax and hang out in front of the fireplaces in the lobby. The decor is VERY victorian but beautiful to those that can appreciate it. Staff is friendly and responsive to our needs. It was the only hotel on a long road trip style vacation that had the crib waiting for us in the room. All other hotels had to be reminded multiple times. Convenient location. We highly recommend taking advantage of the MUNI system in San Francisco, it will save your legs. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Pleased with price, location, cleanliness and staff. Major negative - awful mattress resulting in little sleep and back pain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This is my 3rd time here, as before great weekend"
The Queen Anne has always been a nice hotel with a great staff, and all of the little things that make the stay pleasant. Even though it was a very hot day, 80 downtown, the Inner Richmond had a nice sea breeze, open windows made the hotel pleasant even without A/C. Breakfast has lots of choices, good coffee.Genuine Expedia guest review
The building, room, and hotel are attractive. The staff are cheerful and helpful. Its a bright spot in SF and I'd definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Quaint Victorian, central location"
Enjoyed our stay at this hotel, we chose this hotel to stay in on our trip to SF to take in a Giants baseball game. Was an easy Muni ride location to AT&T Park, also took a trip over to Fisherman's Wharf. Central location of hotel made all within easy Muni ride. Not so easy for a walking trip. "Haven in the Heights"
It was my first time at the Queen Anne, but they received me like a lost cousin returning home, especially Darlene who welcomed me warmly. Situated in a quiet and dignified neighborhood (on the bus line), the hotel is adjacent to a great little market. I stocked up on luscious avocados. The Queen Anne offers a gracious breakfast buffet in the dining […] room. Hot coffee is available in the parlor where interesting guests may sit and engage in fireside chats. "Not good for business travelers"
The wifi internet connection is horrible. After trying to upload an excel spreadsheet for 45 minutes (while checking the news, which was slow to load, and youtube videos were impossible) I gave up and asked the front desk if there was an ethernet cable I could plug into. They allowed me to plug into the cable for the shared computer, which solved my […] problem. It was ok for one night, doing light work, but not for a serious business trip. Now on to the cleanliness: the floor towel and washcloth both had stains. They smelled clean, but a hotel at this price point especially should not have stained linens. One of the pillow cases smelled a little of mildew. The pillows weren't that comfortable, either. I will say, aesthetically, the place looks pretty cool if you're into old things (which I am). Breakfast was the typical expanded continental; if I were staying here for leisure, I would have breakfast at one of the places in the neighborhood instead. Overall, I won't be staying here again, and I wouldn't recommend the place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We would definitely stay at this hotel again. My husband loved the Victorian decor, which is different on each floor, and just wanted to hang around the lobby living room areas. The breakfast was well rounded, our beds were very comfortable, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I needed a massage and this hotel happens to be walking distance […] to one of the best massage venues in the city. "Balance act works well"
On arrival we liked the location, the lobby, and then wow, the parking was so close we could see it. My wife and I had to be in SF for mean little medical procedures so I wanted something close, less busy and fun. A great little corner store sits across the street open till 11:PM. That helped too. "Close to The Fillmore"
I came to San Francisco for a concert at The Fillmore. I have stayed in hotels in Japantown for that same reason, but this time they were all much more expensive, so I gave Queen Anne a try. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. Service at check-in was courteous and efficient, with a small tour of the amenities thrown in (a constant […] supply of freshly baked cookies, tea, and coffee and for guests). The décor is beautiful (and an interesting contrast with the gritty music at The Fillmore). The room was nice and clean, albeit a small and the beddings were not exactly the way I like them, but that is just the way hotels usually are. Overall an excellent experience and I would recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A beautiful, quiet spot in the city"
The Queen Anne was a great, romantic spot to stay for a night in the city. The location, although far from most attractions, is wonderful because the surrounding neighborhood is quiet, something hard to find over near Union Square in a hotel that is as small and charming as this one. It was right near Japantown, so my boyfriend and I had a great time […] exploring that area, and then just took cabs to go out at night. Our room was gorgeous, with a four poster bed and fireplace. The only thing that left something to be desired was the shower. But, everything else we loved. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice--but older hotel in Japantown"
I really like the Queen Anne and have stayed there many times. The service is great. The location is superb. It is an older building, with lots of quirks, so someone expecting a modern hotel with all the conveniences might be disappointed. My one gripe is that there are almost no electrical outlets. In order to plug in the charger on my laptop, I had […] to unplug the tv, and even then I had to sit in a chair near the outlet was on the other side of the room opposite the bed. I don't mind a few quirks, but some things need to be updated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Neglected place, stay away"
I was pretty much aware of the neighborhood and age of the hotel, but it was hard to get anything in San Francisco for that night at acceptable price. What I did not expect was total neglect on behalf of owners toward elementary things and conveniences, as well as their disregard toward guests' needs. The paint was falling and damaged in all of the […] hotel, many lamps in the restaurant were burned, wallpaper everywhere was peeling, things falling off or hanging loose here and there. Window frames, about 130 years old, perhaps had been painted over dozens of times and as a result do not open. One panel had been replaced but to operate it I used a book to hold it up - it was not repaired as a casement window, and had no counterweight. The bathroom tile lost grout long ago, and the room looked like it belonged in an early 20th century boarding house, not in a 3 star hotel. At the same time the common areas show traces of lost grandeur and the hotel could have looked OK given owners cared about it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The woman at the front desk was efficient but a little rude. And the review itself mentioned that the hotel had been recently renovated....hah! What part? This hotel has lots of dusty silk flower arrangements, un-vacuumed stained and soiled carpets, outdated, old worn synthetic bedspreads and upholstery and an ancient heating system....probably 40 years […] old. The good news was there was a reasonable parking lot across the street. This place was like the Bates Hotel. Would never go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Victorian Atmosphere"
My wife and I love to stay in historical hotels and the Queen Anne fits the bill. In the heart of San Francisco, it has the charm and ambiance of yesteryear, but doesn't skimp on the comforts that you expect from new and more expensive hotels.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Blah blah blah"
When we reserved our room we didn't request an accessible room but when we checked in that's what we got. We didn't need or ask for an accessible room. When I called the front desk they said it was an upgrade and it was a larger room. Since when is a accessible room considered an upgrade? We had just flew in from Southern CA that morning and went straight […] to 2 colleges to visit for my daughter. We were tired and at that point didn't feel like changing rooms. My daughter and I felt like we were sleeping in our grandmas house. The bed was kind of lumpy and we didn't find this hotel to be that great. The breakfast was decent. Overall, I didn't feel like we got a great value for what we paid. We were there to tour colleges so it wasn't a bad location. The parking is strange. It's an lot across the street that isn't labeled its for the hotel and its very small. If its full you are out of luck. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Plan to return for another stay."
We only stayed one night while in SF for a medical appointment, but we would have liked to stay a little longer at the Queen Anne Hotel. The Queen Anne is not for someone seeking a modern hotel atmosphere, because of its older decor. However, if you enjoy a hotel with a personality and some old-style ambiance, you will find the Queen Anne a good alternative. Victorian decorations mostly over the top. Hotel ambience cute. Made us feel as if enjoying SF before the big quake in 1906. Accommodations OK-just average. "Nice quarky place"
This is a really interesting place. The architecture sets the mood. The people that helped us were really nice and committed to their job. They even offered a crib for our 9 month old and brought it all the way to our room. The continental breakfast is as good as any other hotel. Cleanliness was not a problem. "PRETTY ON THE OUTSIDE, NOT SO IN YOUR ROOM!"
NEVER AGAIN! In our room there was a foul smell... like sour milk. In the bathroom, the wall by the sink looked like someone had thrown up on it and there were long black hairs hanging on the walls of the bathrm. The bathrm light fixture had a foggy dirty film all over it. Initially I wiped the wall by the sink and cleaned the light since we were going […] to be there for 5 nights. But when I saw how filthy the towel was and then saw the rest of the walls, I called down to let them know of these issues. The concierge came up and I showed him the dirty towels and the smell. We were given another room across the hall. It was cleaner, but the walls in the bathroom were patched & poorly painted & the whole place, needs much work. The hot and cold water faucet in the bathroom was connected backwards so that the hot was really the cold water and visa versa. The lock on the window in our room was broken so the window would not close all the way and kept raising up on its own so all night we were cold & found we had no hot water in our shower the next morning. We called down and maintenance came up to replace the lock so the window would stay closed and said there must be a problem with the boiler because there was no hot water. Nothing was done about the sink faucet. The soapdish the maid left was the paper cover for the water glasses, and we only got ONE tiny bar of soap, so we had to keep moving it back and forth from the shower to the sink. I would never stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A comfortable but aging Diva"
The hotel is such exemplary Queen Anne that we joined an architecture tour there on the day we left. The only problems are minor . . . the front fell off the bathroom cabinet in our room and was left unrepaired during our whole five day stay. It would also be great if they put the food for the breakfast buffet on a large center round table instead of […] scattering it around the edges of the room which clogs up traffic and has guests bumping to each other trying to figure out where things are and getting to them. I.was just staying the night with my friend vefidr taking him to the airport early in the morning. The hotel was nice but hidden behind scaffolding because of a renovation. The lady at check in was pushy and rushing us even though we were the only ones there. When it was time to show us how to get to our room she was unhappy when the other lady at the […] concierge desk left to help another couple. When we returned to the desk for some dinner suggestions they weren't very helpful when they heard I wasn't a Japanese food fan. Upon our return after dinner we decided to go to bed. When getting ready a couple next door checked in whither a small child. The foreign couple kept knocking on the adjoining room door and trying to open it. They were very loud with people and management was even louder when they went to the room. The beds were not comfortable and should be replaced with new ones. Upon checkout at 4am the man working the desk was nowhere to be found although food wrappers and soda cans were on the desk. We had to yell "hello" a few rimes before he came out of the back office to rudely help us, as if we woke him up from a nap. coming in and out if the room. T Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Elegant with a few rough spots"
There are a few problems with this hotel, and many good things about it. Problems: First,The bed in the executive suite was very small for two people. I ended up sleeping on the sofa couch in the living room of our suite. Second, the hotel is a bit out of the way. It's more than a mile from Union Square and father from other destinations. On the positive […] side, the architecture and furnishings are delightful. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was timely and had all the essentials. The room was ready on arrival. The executive suite had two TV's. The heating in winter was very effective. The hotel is near public transportation (bus), but not the Bart. A computer was available to print boarding passes etc. Delicious cookies and sherry was served in the afternoon, and coffee was available 24-hrs per day. The room was quite. The lobby living room was spacious, comfortable, beautiful, and heated by several live fire places. On balance, I would strongly recommend this hotel. However, if you are a large person and two are going to sleep in the bed it might not be the best unless you are in the executive suite which has an extra bed in the couch.
