I.was just staying the night with my friend vefidr taking him to the airport early in the morning. The hotel was nice but hidden behind scaffolding because of a renovation. The lady at check in was pushy and rushing us even though we were the only ones there. When it was time to show us how to get to our room she was unhappy when the other lady at the […] concierge desk left to help another couple. When we returned to the desk for some dinner suggestions they weren't very helpful when they heard I wasn't a Japanese food fan. Upon our return after dinner we decided to go to bed. When getting ready a couple next door checked in whither a small child. The foreign couple kept knocking on the adjoining room door and trying to open it. They were very loud with people and management was even louder when they went to the room. The beds were not comfortable and should be replaced with new ones. Upon checkout at 4am the man working the desk was nowhere to be found although food wrappers and soda cans were on the desk. We had to yell "hello" a few rimes before he came out of the back office to rudely help us, as if we woke him up from a nap. coming in and out if the room. T Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Elegant with a few rough spots"
There are a few problems with this hotel, and many good things about it. Problems: First,The bed in the executive suite was very small for two people. I ended up sleeping on the sofa couch in the living room of our suite. Second, the hotel is a bit out of the way. It's more than a mile from Union Square and father from other destinations. On the positive […] side, the architecture and furnishings are delightful. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was timely and had all the essentials. The room was ready on arrival. The executive suite had two TV's. The heating in winter was very effective. The hotel is near public transportation (bus), but not the Bart. A computer was available to print boarding passes etc. Delicious cookies and sherry was served in the afternoon, and coffee was available 24-hrs per day. The room was quite. The lobby living room was spacious, comfortable, beautiful, and heated by several live fire places. On balance, I would strongly recommend this hotel. However, if you are a large person and two are going to sleep in the bed it might not be the best unless you are in the executive suite which has an extra bed in the couch. "We will come back."
We received supra service from staff: quiet room, luggage storage, information, help with shuttle to San Jose. Fillmore St is 4 blocks away and recommend the Fresca, Peruvian restaurant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location-plenty of charm!"
a beautiful old Victorian in a great location.Staff very friendly and courteous. Lobby was beautiful and cozy for sitting and reading. Only minor problem was lack of internet signal in room on top floor- to sporadic/unreliable. But overall a super place to stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My favorite place to stay in San Francisco….great hotel, great hospitality, great atmosphere! The Christmas display is lovely!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is well placed and staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is a bit large and dim in places, and I personally would prefer more tables with fewer seats at them, more personably arranged. The breakfast do-it-yourself waffles were great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful Queen Anne antiques & woodwork- Lots of hospitality- Enjoyed our stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to J town, SF sights and care home"
Gently aged Victorian style hotel in quiet location with delightful Xmas decoration, breakfast, and helpful employees. Reminded me of my London stay. A change from inpersonal recent hotels. Helped book airport shuttle and stored luggage after checkout until time to leave for airport. Convenient to SF sites and my relative's assisted care home.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"exactly as advertised"
Staff was very friendly and helpful. My wife left behind her wedding ring and we got a call just a couple of hours after we had left that they had it and we were able to get back and pick it up. We did not even realize it was gone yet. Originally, had concerns about location but they were unfounded. Located in a quiet area(good) about 4 blocks from […] the cable car. Additionally, they offered a car in the morning to take you at no charge to your first stop of the day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Convenient, and comfortable."
Very pleasant. and atmospheric. Room needed a paint job, but otherwise very clean and attractive and an up-to-date bathroom. Staff were great and very helpful. So was breakfast and afternoon sherry. A short bus ride from several places of interest.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very welcoming hotel in a lovely neighborhood"
The Queen Anne is a nicely maintained older, small hotel with period furnishings. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. It is a bit out of the commercial area, yet still walkable to downtown (2 miles to embarcadero). The location is quiet, yet there are many nice restaurants nearby. I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"better place for couples than families"
Staff was good, room was ok,bit of a hike to everythingGenuine Expedia guest review
Why don't any of these reviews say that this hotel is HAUNTED? After booking I discovered a number of websites detailing paranormal activity at the Queen Anne. Hotel is fairly comfortable with nice employees, but I was completely creeped out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great looking hotel"
Stayed only one night, but found the interior so fascinating and historical. Loved the decor. We would stay there again for sentimental reasons.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great time, and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed the historical information about the hotel as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a truly outstanding hotel. The staff is always friendly and smiling. We had purchased a 13 night stay and had to leave 4 days early because of a death in the family and the management gave us a full refund and could not have been more cooperative and understanding. There is a concierge who is there is assist with all kinds of matters. The breakfast […] is not great but it is certainly above acceptable. The location is excellent unless you're going to spend all your time in downtown. We stayed here last year and we will come back again next year. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Full of history, nice common rooms but no air con"
Stayed two nights at the Queen Anne this week after a week in San Fran earlier this month. The fires, old world decor and always available coffee/tea are great. The Japantown area is very safe and near to the wonderful Filmore Street coffee shops ('Jane' especially). We like to walk so found it easy to walk to Union Square or the Fisherman's Wharf area. […] We used the Muni bus system from here without a problem. However the room was a little stuffy as there was no air con and I couldn't open a window. Also the complimentary breakfast I found very poor. The tables were too large - the hotel would be better served to have some more 2- and 4-people tables. When we arrived at 8.45 (breakfast ends at 9) there was a rush and getting food was a scramble. Some chopped fruit and yoghurt would be a welcome addition to the breads, cereal and whole fruit. Overall good. However, the bed mattress needs to be replaced. They are well worn and very soft and not comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful with place to see and eat. "a happy place"
This "bed and breakfast hotel" was a surprise and delight to both my husband and me. We chose it for price, location and parking availability. We were delighted to find great staff, delicious cookies at tea time, abundant breakfast and fascinating conversation with people from all over the world. The antique furnishings and paintings, inlaid wood floors, […] and availability of walking tours (Victorian architecture or ghosts) made for a wonderful stay in our old home town. "Nice but Off the Beaten Path"
The Queen Anne is a nice enough hotel but a little far away from most of the sights we were interested in seeing. We learned that San Francisco is not the easiest city to get a cab in and that sometimes made things a little challenging--- it would have been nice to have more within comfortable walking distance. Also, while our room itself was fine, […] there was no Air Conditioning and the street noise with the windows open was a bit much at times. I wish that the room had at least had a ceiling fan. The queen Anne hotel in Japantown had an old world feel. The rooms were large and clean and the beds were comfortable. We very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to those traveling on a budget. The parking was convienient and not as costly as other hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Queen Anne hotel"
Charming boutique hotel; wonderful concierge, Roberto, was extremely helpful. Easy walk to bus, cable car, but a little off the beaten path.Genuine Expedia guest review
25 years ago, croissants and Pete's coffee and the chronicle at our door in the morning. Bad coffee, and weak wifi nowadays. No one on staff seems to know good places to eat nearby. I recommend Ino sushi.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A step back in time"
Wonderful experience! So far away from the sterile hotel rooms of today. The decor was exceptional. Old world Louis XVI....fire places, big comfortable bed and large LG TV. The location is OK, not sure what prominet places you can walk to; is near Japan town....... Absolutely would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is wonderful. A unique experience for me. The only caveats is the address, which is just ok, but not great, and especially the breakfast, in my opinion could be much betterGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Lovely hotel! Cosy living room with fireplace. Breakfast above average. Staff service so-so. Quiet neighborhood, yet close to Japantown and Union Square.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I expected a lot more for the price. It was like staying at Great Aunt Emas House for the weekend. It was not elegant, just old, musty, and in need of repair.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Had a great time"
The room was great and roomy. The only thing I didn't like, was the parking. They charged $19, for a basic lot not a garage. Nor did it have a gate. If you get there late night it is hard to find a parking spot on the street or in the lot. I will go back soon just get there earlierGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"What a wonderful place"
What a wonderful place! The restoration of the hotel is beautiful and the atmosphere is so elegant and cozy. There is so much to see and do within waling distance. With a map that was provided, we had not […] problem getting where we wanted to go. Everyone is so friendly that you could ask anyone for directions. "A very charming hotel!"
We chose the Queen Anne for it's recommended atmosphere and we weren't disappointed. It is up on the hill away from some of the hustle and bustle but is withing walking distance of restaurants. We also chose to not drive on our sightseeing so instead walked a few blocks to hop on the cable car down to Fisherman's wharf. The hotel was clean and quietly […] elegant in a very old way. We have stayed in similar hotels before and have never found the same level of upkeep as we did at the Queen Anne. The lobby areas were cozy and beautiful and our room was large and comfortable. There was a wonderfulen blend of the old and the new with free wireless at the hotel and a flat screen tv in our room. The staff were helpful and friendly and we felt very welcome from the minute we stepped in the door. The breakfast which was included in our stay included a few hot offerings but mostly your typical continental breakfast items. We do wish they would have served it later into the morning as we like to sleep in while we are traveling and the breakfast on weekdays ended at 9. If you are looking for a unique and charming place to stay while in San Francisco and you love antiques and atmosphere, this would be a great choice for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Queen Anne Hotel - SF, CA"
Checked-in late, but front desk was welcoming. Asked for a late check-out the following day, which they happily said okay with no hesitation. "The Queen Anne made our San Fran trip perfect"
From the minute we walked into the hotel, we felt like we were given personal service, that we were important. The hotel wasn't cookie cutter, it had warmth, charm and personality. Breakfast each day was very good, there was coffee and water out all day long, and cookies and sherry in the afternoon.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is located near a quiet, residential neighborhood. A nightly Ghost Tour meets in the lobby. I highly recommend the tour, for $20 you get a 3 hour, entertaining & informative walking tour.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Lovely Aging Dowager"
The Queen Anne Hotel is still a grand lady perched on a San Francisco hill. The interior is beautiful with lovely Victorian decor and furnishings, but the carpets are a little worn, paint is chipped off in places on doors and woodwork. It could use - if not a whole a face lift - a bit of a touch-up. The breakfast was good, the location is unbeatable […] and the staff is warm, friendly and helpful. And the price was definitely right. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lots of character. Not too much sleep."
Great charming old hotel with lots of character. Great location between fun neighborhoods (Fillmore, Chestnut, Union Financial District, etc.). Staff is very friendly and helpful. The room heater is tough, because its not temperature controlled when its on, its just stays on. Making for an uncomfortably hot room at 2 am. Therefore regulating the room […] temp is hard. Also it's incredibly noisy outside of the room. Thin walls I suppose. Tough sleeping environment even on a comfortable bed. Just sleep when you get home and you'll be fine. "Great hotel without the hustle and bustle...."
The Queen Anne Hotel was a wonderful experience for us on our Valentine's Day vacation to San Francisco. The room was beautiful and the amenities were good. The continental breakfast was sufficient to save a restaurant visit for breakfast. The hotel was located near mass transit and within walking distance of local night life. It was close to Japantown […] and the cultural shops and buildings there. The neighborhood was clean and there weren't roaming transients asking for spare change. The Victorian architecture and interior design were beautiful. The main lobby and all floors were decorated in a very authentic style and it reminded me of the Haunted House ride at Dinseyland, without the ghosts!!!! Overall, a wonderful romantic stay.
