I have stayed here several times over the years and I love this place. The hotel is quiet and comfortable, and the location is within walking distance to anywhere in the Quarter. The staff are very kind and the hotel has a beautiful courtyard and pool. Coming back is like a hug from an old friend.

Our stay at the Bienville House was less than we expected for many reasons: 1. Called the day of arrival to inform them my daughter and her fiance, booked with us in a separate room, would arrive before us. When they arrived the front desk claimed no one had called or suggested we'd called Expedia. I hadn't. The inefficient staff had failed to deliver the message (I had even spelled my daughter's name for whoever I was talking with). 2. Internet connection in our room never really worked. I kept being told that they would get tech support on it and that tech support was calling "right away." They finally called once. Couldn't solve the problem, and never called back despite saying they would, trapping me in my windowless room for an hour on what was a lovely day in NOLA (though I had no way of knowing that since my room had no windows!). 3. Our room had no card on the back of the door with rates or, more ominously since it was (did I mention) windowless, NO MAP SHOWING THE CLOSEST EXIT IN CASE OF FIRE. I found that shocking and suspect the New Orleans Fire Marshall and Louisiana authorities would too. 4. For a couple of days of our stay there was a notice posted in front of the elevator to the effect that scam calls were "somehow" being put through to rooms and guests being asked for their credit card details. Nice that they notified us (though the notice had four, count them, grammatical and spelling errors, including spelling "problem" "promble")!!

We wanted to do something different for Mardi Gras 2015. We stayed at a brand name hotel last year and want to do a small boutique hotel this year. This was the place to stay. We had a great time. The staff was wonderful and very welcoming! The room was wonderful. We had a great time.

We had a very good stay at this hotel because the location was excellent for walking around the French Quarter, and the two bordering districts. Easily we could enjoy the super WWII museum, the cathedrals, galleries, and many streets of jazz and dining. The breakfast at the Bienville was simple continental style, but just a couple blocks away there were many choices of restaurants. Wifi was free and strong for guests. The pool at the hotel is an open air salt water pool, again beautiful in an old world way. If you want edgy modern style, this is not the hotel for you, but anyone who has enjoyed a stay in an old world European hotel will enjoy the Bienville. However, this does not seem like the right hotel for young families as they might want a bigger and indoor pool area.

Convenient location, our car was parked onsite which was a plus. The rooms were a good size and the heated pool area was beautiful. We enjoyed our stay in the French Quarter away from the craziness of Bourbon Street.

Our stay was very pleasant. Hotel staff was knowledgeable about the area and good places to ear. Location was perfect for the French Quarter as well hopping on the cable cars. the only problem we had was checking in - don't show up early, the check-in folks are not ready and seem to have issues communicating w/housekeepers. Concierge was wonderfully helpful.

Staff was amazing. Every employee we came across were extremely accomodating, cooperative and the definition of old school southern hospitality. So refreshing in a dying world of true customer service. Rooms were pleasant, but needed a little TLC, It was 73 high in the Quarter and the room felt like 90 with no access to lower the temperature. Room needed a new coat of paint and beds and pillows were soft and flat. A very nice continental breakfast was available each morning with fresh pastries and steaming hot coffee and the courtyard was beautiful. I will stay at the Bienville again. Just hope it's time for a nip and tuck soon. PS sunrooms are outside entry so for those who prefer an inside access to room I would not recommend Sunroom, however balcony rooms overlooking courtyard was so pleasant and helped opening doors for ventilation. Also, wonderful location especially if you're there for Mardi Gras no problem getting to and from hotel regardless of parade traffic.

The location was ideal for our one night visit to the French Quarter. Was easy walking distance to French Market, Jackson Square and along Royal St. We were upgraded to a suite which was enormous but had no windows. There was a rate mistake but a call to Hotels.com customer service corrected it quickly.

the first hotel room I have ever been in that did not have a window. At the continental breakfast, the attendant was watching everyone like a hawk. Maybe they were concerned that we would eat too much or steal the plasticware.

We were a little late getting into NO and they only had one room left. So, we were put in the Iberville suite which was just amassing. Green marble bathroom with a jucuzzi tub, four poster bed, French doors opened onto a forty foot balcony on the fourth floor that overlooked Decatur St. The rest of the hotel was charming and clean, the staff was freindly and efficent.

the front staff was absolutely amazing...we were traveling with an elderly grandmother and the front staff watch over her so nicely. they assisted her to the hotle room when it was ready, made sure she was safe and confortable, checke din on her...the treated her and all of us like family. the front door bellman was also so kind and friendly. allowed us to sotre our bags before check in and after, never got upset when we needed to get to our secured bags several tiems...all 8 of us. gave us great recomendations to restaurants.

The rooms are lovely, the beds so comfortable, love the quality of everything. Staff very accomodating. Breakfast was lean, prices are kinda high, but the location was hard to beat! Except for limited room service at the time of our visit (it was Cristmas Eve so understandable), our experience at the Bienville was wonderful! Because we were traveling with a kitten, being able to stay at an upper scale hotel with her made the holiday special. The previous visit to New Orleans I stayed at the Sheraton. I found the Bienville much warmer and more convenient to the sites and restaurants than the Sheraton, plus it was less money AND took pets for a reasonable fee. The hotel was also quiet. If I had one complaint, it's that the valet didn't keep my car locked, and where it was parked in the garage any stranger had access when the valet was inside. In fact, my husband and I accessed the trunk and stood there for several minutes without anyone noticing.

Great location. Walking distance to Jackson Square and Farmer's Market, and Harrah's. Easy access to public transportation. Hotel staff was excellent especially Cynthia at the front desk. Very cheerful and professional. Nice restaurant connected to the hotel and great eating establishments everywhere you turn. Would stay here again without hesitation. Very nice boutique hotel. Had a room that faced the street and didn't hear outside noise.

The king bed was very comfortable but the pillows were terrible. The A/C is either heat or cold. The TV worked well; everything worked well. The mugs in our room looked like they had never been cleaned as they had dried oatmeal or something in them; very disgusting. The maids took our wash cloths and didn't leave new ones... The baseboards in the bathroom were also kind of dirty. But for the price and the location, the room was ok and comfortable. Unfortunately, our room didn't have windows, so we had no view at all, but it was kinda of nice since it cut out all noise from the street. I would recommend this place, but would also say to look around before booking.

When we checked in, the desk clerk told us our "standard" king room did not have a window. We selected standard because the price was better, and we knew we would be out and about almost all the time. Not having a window was very disconcerting. You couldn't look out to see if there was sunshine or clouds or precipitation. I've had rooms in NOLA and elsewhere that looked out on brick walls or pretty unattractive sights, yet you had connectivity with the world. In order to look out a window from our room at Bienville House, you had to travel about two-thirds of a football field through winding hallways. This time, the hotel's promotion of itself to the reserving public was essentially a lie. There was no explanation that standard meant windowless. The cleaning staff took our bath soap after the first night and left us with only small hand soaps. The hand soaps almost required C4 explosives to unwrap. One day, the cleaning folks failed to clean our room. Since we had reused our towels and washcloths for two nights already, we had put them on the floor indicating our desire for clean ones. The fact that they didn't clean meant we had no clean ones for the next day. We called the front desk to get this resolved, and it took them three tries to get it done. There was inadequate seating in the room, too.

We really enjoyed our stay...a walk and Po'boy on bustling Bourbon, the Audubon Zoo, a Creole/Cajun cooking class, a ferry ride and lunch at the Dry Dock café, French pastries, Harrah's, the Lafayette cemetery, Preservation Hall, jazz on lower French quarter, Audubon Aquarium, shopping and food, food Jambalaya, Gumbo, fish---- food (very diverse outside the French quarter). Free concerts at the St. Louise Cathedral were a plus. Hotel restaurant, Latitude 29, was so awesome, we ate there twice! The candy shop next door was delicious! Very helpful people with lots of smiles. We had a blast.

The only issue we had was the floor was a little un-level in our room, therefore, the bed felt un-level. However, it is a very old building that has its structural issues, so that has to be considered. Other than that the location was great, the room was VERY clean, the staff was VERY nice and we had a great time! We would definitely stay here again.
