the first hotel room I have ever been in that did not have a window. At the continental breakfast, the attendant was watching everyone like a hawk. Maybe they were concerned that we would eat too much or steal the plasticware.

We were a little late getting into NO and they only had one room left. So, we were put in the Iberville suite which was just amassing. Green marble bathroom with a jucuzzi tub, four poster bed, French doors opened onto a forty foot balcony on the fourth floor that overlooked Decatur St. The rest of the hotel was charming and clean, the staff was freindly and efficent.

Excellent location, super friendly staff!! We loved this hotel. It does need a little updating and refreshing of the baseboards but overall we loved it! Restaurant across the street was awesome! Can't wait to go back!

the front staff was absolutely amazing...we were traveling with an elderly grandmother and the front staff watch over her so nicely. they assisted her to the hotle room when it was ready, made sure she was safe and confortable, checke din on her...the treated her and all of us like family. the front door bellman was also so kind and friendly. allowed us to sotre our bags before check in and after, never got upset when we needed to get to our secured bags several tiems...all 8 of us. gave us great recomendations to restaurants.

Been here many times over the last 21 years of visiting the city of New Orleans, and it never disappoints! This is a well designed, charming and comfortable boutique hotel. The staff are very professional and friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful with rooms that emulate first class old world charm. The rooms are lovely, the beds so comfortable, love the quality of everything. Staff very accomodating. Breakfast was lean, prices are kinda high, but the location was hard to beat! The rooms were a bit musty on the 4th floor (mildew smell in the carpet) but the little container gardens at the top were delightful. I will stay again! The front desk girls were great! W

Except for limited room service at the time of our visit (it was Cristmas Eve so understandable), our experience at the Bienville was wonderful! Because we were traveling with a kitten, being able to stay at an upper scale hotel with her made the holiday special. The previous visit to New Orleans I stayed at the Sheraton. I found the Bienville much warmer and more convenient to the sites and restaurants than the Sheraton, plus it was less money AND took pets for a reasonable fee. The hotel was also quiet. If I had one complaint, it's that the valet didn't keep my car locked, and where it was parked in the garage any stranger had access when the valet was inside. In fact, my husband and I accessed the trunk and stood there for several minutes without anyone noticing.

Great location. Walking distance to Jackson Square and Farmer's Market, and Harrah's. Easy access to public transportation. Hotel staff was excellent especially Cynthia at the front desk. Very cheerful and professional. Nice restaurant connected to the hotel and great eating establishments everywhere you turn. Would stay here again without hesitation. Very nice boutique hotel. Had a room that faced the street and didn't hear outside noise.

really wonderful hotel. Rooms were very nice and clean. breakfast was great for my husband however it was a little heavy for me-no fruit or non dairy options. Coffee was fresh and hot. Miss Ahn was very nice, kept the coffee cups full and was helpful. One of the best nights I've had in New Orleans.

The king bed was very comfortable but the pillows were terrible. The A/C is either heat or cold. The TV worked well; everything worked well. The mugs in our room looked like they had never been cleaned as they had dried oatmeal or something in them; very disgusting. The maids took our wash cloths and didn't leave new ones... The baseboards in the bathroom were also kind of dirty. But for the price and the location, the room was ok and comfortable. Unfortunately, our room didn't have windows, so we had no view at all, but it was kinda of nice since it cut out all noise from the street. I would recommend this place, but would also say to look around before booking.

When we checked in, the desk clerk told us our "standard" king room did not have a window. We selected standard because the price was better, and we knew we would be out and about almost all the time. Not having a window was very disconcerting. You couldn't look out to see if there was sunshine or clouds or precipitation. I've had rooms in NOLA and elsewhere that looked out on brick walls or pretty unattractive sights, yet you had connectivity with the world. In order to look out a window from our room at Bienville House, you had to travel about two-thirds of a football field through winding hallways. This time, the hotel's promotion of itself to the reserving public was essentially a lie. There was no explanation that standard meant windowless. The cleaning staff took our bath soap after the first night and left us with only small hand soaps. The hand soaps almost required C4 explosives to unwrap. One day, the cleaning folks failed to clean our room. Since we had reused our towels and washcloths for two nights already, we had put them on the floor indicating our desire for clean ones. The fact that they didn't clean meant we had no clean ones for the next day. We called the front desk to get this resolved, and it took them three tries to get it done. There was inadequate seating in the room, too.

We really enjoyed our stay...a walk and Po'boy on bustling Bourbon, the Audubon Zoo, a Creole/Cajun cooking class, a ferry ride and lunch at the Dry Dock café, French pastries, Harrah's, the Lafayette cemetery, Preservation Hall, jazz on lower French quarter, Audubon Aquarium, shopping and food, food Jambalaya, Gumbo, fish---- food (very diverse outside the French quarter). Free concerts at the St. Louise Cathedral were a plus. Hotel restaurant, Latitude 29, was so awesome, we ate there twice! The candy shop next door was delicious! Very helpful people with lots of smiles. We had a blast.

The only issue we had was the floor was a little un-level in our room, therefore, the bed felt un-level. However, it is a very old building that has its structural issues, so that has to be considered. Other than that the location was great, the room was VERY clean, the staff was VERY nice and we had a great time! We would definitely stay here again.

My stay at the Bienville House was very enjoyable. The location is fantastic- in walking distance from everything in the French Quarter and a little over half a mile to the conference center. The Riverwalk was right across the street with a nice view. The hotel was not a new, modern style hotel- it was older, historic and lots of character- which I love! The room was clean, bed slept well, and the bathroom/shower was nice. Also, prices were really reasonable (it was November), and I would definitely stay here when visiting New Orleans again. A few drawbacks- parking was $32/night, but expensive parking seems to be the case for most places in New Orleans. The first day the computers were down in the hotel, which made checking in and getting room keys a bit difficult- not sure if that is a frequent thing.

Staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel is very clean. Perfect location if you are wanting to hang around the French Quarter, the riverfront, or Uptown/Garden district. Parking is a little steep but that's the norm if parking at a hotel in the French Quarter. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a lovely hotel conveniently located in the French Quarter. The staff are friendly and helpful. When I finally got into my room it was really nice and clean. My big problem was they chose a big holiday weekend to change the locks. It created chaos with the guests. It was frustrating and took a lot of my holiday time.

I was surprised of how our room looked. It was absolutely gorgeous!!!!! It looked better than on the website. Location was perfect,not too close to all the hustle and bustle of bourbon but not too far either. There's also the nice little asian lady who takes care of the breakfast area who was so sweet and attentive. She made us feel so welcomed. The only problem was that this hotel does not have individual heater and air. It's controlled centrally . So it was so cold in our room that I had to wear a jacket to sleep. I almost thought about going out to buy a little heater. But overall, I love this hotel. Highly recommended it.

Great staff in a great location. The hotel is a bit old, only has one elevator (which is OK for guests, but is also the elevator used by the Bellman bringing up bags for newly arriving guests), but, the rooms are well appointed and it's in the French Quarter. Just a few blocks from Cafe Du Monde and Jackson Square, a couple of blocks to Bourbon St, and steps from the river. The Staff attention to detail and knowledge of the area makes this a top choice for me when visiting The Big Easy.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed staying in this hotel. It is a basic hotel, without a restaurant and bar; but is an idea staging area for enjoying the French Quarter. No housekeeping until after 4pm on first night, breakfast was lacking even for Continental, staff was amazing helpful and friendly, valet parking and check I was super. The bed was about 4 feet off the floor and a challenge to get up on. Cost was reasonable but I did not like an interior room. I would stay there again!

For a couple who were first time visitors to New Orleans, this boutique hotel delivered on all fronts. At the edge of the French quarter but 5 minute walk from bourbon st. craziness/street cars and river. Cynthia at the front desk was beyond wonderful and accommodating. For the price, compared to other hotels we reviewed prior to booking, Bienville House is a great value. We had an approx. 400sq ft. room with a balcony for less than other hotels with smaller rooms and poorer locations. Nice continental breakfast spread.

Had a great time, Location was ideal for what we were in town for. Cynthia at the front desk was a great help. Room clean,need updating but comfortable. Would stay there again. Breakfast left a lot to be desired.

We stayed for a quick overnight trip and Bienville House was perfect for our needs. It has perfect proximity to everything in the Quarter and Frenchmen Street where you find great music. You can either drive to the Warehouse district where parking isn't an issue or you can hop in a pedicab.

This small gem of a hotel was just right. The staff is very friendly and helpful But I would say the one major drawback is the lack of a dining facility. Every morning we would have to hunt for a good breakfast when it would be much easier to dine right in your hotel. The other thing is the freight train issue. Seems that every night about 3:00 am a freight train passes right near by the hotel with whistles bellowing in the night. If you are a sound sleeper this is not a problem ;-)

Location was perfect, by the river and walking distance to great food and shopping but not in the middle of all the Bourbon Street craziness.
