it was enjoyable the room was clean, staff was accomodating. The upgrade to an interior room off of the patio was very nice, too mbad we didn't bring our swimsuits!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"near perfect holiday visit"
Outstanding. Convenient, beautifully decorated for holidays, great club floor and staff, PJs is perfect addition. Room is very nice. You really don't miss a beat. One exception club room keys did not work in the elevators and room keys wit working for both of our rooms by second day into our four day stay. Needs to be addressed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable and fun !"
Great comfortable hotel in the middle of French quarter, right in the middle of Partying Bourbon street. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not for you! We loved the restaurant, "Revolution", and the pool was heated in winter. Jazz club was also happening at night. We had a great Time!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely Old Hotel, But A Little Loud"
If you want to be on Bourbon Street, this is an ideal location. We are not 20-something's though, so we requested a quieter room. We never heard a peep out of Bourbon Sttreet, but because the hotel is older, we heard everything else -toilets flushing right above us, doors closing (or slamming) in the hallway, showers turning on, etc. I do know the front […] desk has complimentary ear plugs though-they gave us some when we checked in. Now, not much of this bothered me - I appreciate that I was in an older building and I like the New York-type of environment, so I wasn't too aggravated. Either that, or I was too tired to care. Lol! They do have balcony rooms for those that want to be in the action on Bourbon Street. The staff, when we interacted with them, could not have been nicer. We brought along my 5 lb pup, who pranced through the lobby each day, and the staff always greeted us with a pet or a smile. Lots going on in and around the hotel, gearing up for a bowl game, a wedding and who knows what else- all handled with friendly faces. If you choose to bring your dog, be prepared to walk him/her at least two blocks to a patch of bushes-we never found anything closer (maybe you will). We weren't given much help in this area. That's the only caveat I can offer. Overall, i would rate this hotel a 4.5, because it's much older, and it's showing its age. But that's also part of the history and charm. The lovely lobby and fabulously-dressed staff added to the grandeur of the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location, Very Nice Hotel"
Overall our stay was great. The Hotel staff was very helpful and the hotel is very well maintained though obviously older. My only VERY MINOR suggestion is that they could offer coffee in the room as many hotels do today. It was a hassle having to throw on clothes to go down to the café for just coffee.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Royal Sonesta date"
My husband and I were able to enjoy the hotel and bourbon for the night while our son was at his paw paw's house. We had such a wonderful time in New Orleans and at the hotel. We were very excited to see the Christmas decorations were still up and were able to enjoy them also. We even got lucky and missed the rain! Thank you for a great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stay was great. Hotel staff was perfect right down to loving our lab.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Place/Great Location"
Loved Royal Sonesta. Great room with balcony over looking Bourbon St. We appreciated being moved from a side street to the front street. Unplanned parade by U of Louisiana-Lafayette was an added bonus. Great having the Music Legends Park across the street & PJ's was great for a quick breakfast or late snack. "Anniversary in the French Quarter"
They are going through a renovation, but the service was great, the location is the best, and they upgraded us to a room with a balcony over the courtyard pool. It was a great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bourbon. Street and Blues"
Excellent jazz rooms dining and locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have always hear how friendly folks are in New Orleans. That was not the case with the Royal Sonesta. In fact, the desk clerks were cold and bordering on rude. In addition, I had booked a room with a King size bed. I know hotels sometimes can't give you what you booked, but they put me in a queen size room with no mention of the downgrade. The hotel […] is on Bourbon Street - so be prepared for a lot of noise late into the night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I didn't like the fact I paid for a king bed room and I got a double queen handicap room. My wife was very disappointed about thatGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We travel to New Orleans frequently but this is the first time we've stayed at the Royal Sonesta. It's a very nice hotel, with fabulous customer service all around and you can't beat the location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great French Quarter hotel"
This is one of our favorite French Quarter hotels! The Royal Sonesta provides a central location to the city's activities, with great restaurant choices within walking distance. I do think that coffee pot in the room is a must, though, otherwise, a great hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very overpriced for what yu get! I had to pay extra for coffeemaker in the room. It was not replenished for my entire stay. The staff is very friendly. Do not stya on the street side if you are a light sleeper. The hotel is nice but needs updating. The wallpaper is peeling. The jazz bar room has great entertainment.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Thanksgiving Non-Traditional Celebration"
I have stayed at the Sonesta several times and the lobby and staff are always great. I was a bit disappointed in the room as it needs some cleaning/updating, especially in the bathroom (shower had mold and the trim on head of the shower had detached from the wall). Otherwise, love this hotel. Love the coffee in the lobby, love professionalism of everyone. […] Very convenient, but sometimes loud, location...but you're in NOLA! "Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street October 2014"
Nice Place, a little pricey but that's what being on Bourbon Street is all about. Great location right in the middle of the action. Always watch your back for beggars and potential bad guys cause that comes with the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great overall: location, staff, amenities"
Great location, on Bourbon and near all the restaurants and bars we wanted to try. Closer to Canal than Frenchman street. Beds are small, so it was a tighter fit for all four of us in a double bed room. Our room by the courtyard was peaceful with a nice view. Beautiful pool (though it was too cold outside for us to go in). Nice gym facilities (one of […] our group used it everyday) and good breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. The front desk also let us split the hotel bill four ways and we could all pay at separate times depending on when we left the room (very accommodating for groups of friends). Would stay here again. "Loved this hotel!"
Staff was very friendly. Gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne when I mentioned it was our Anniversary. The restaurant at the hotel was under renovations so there was some light hammering going on but not complaints.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Quite hotel on Bourbon Street"
We had a very nice room but I was concerned about the possible noise level at night being on Bourbon Street. We had a court facing room and it was extremely quite. The only problem was a failure to service our room on a very busy Sunday. The staff is very friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Overall very nice with a one disappointment."
Beautiful hotel. Very comfortable room. Clean, nice sized, well-appointed and equipped. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Only disappointment - I wasn't able to connect to the internet and wasn't able to reach anyone at the front desk for assistance. Wonderful stay. Very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
We had a wonderful room that opened to a balcony and allowed us to look out over Bourban Street. Hotel is overpriced for what you get. Small room, noisy street outside (no room available on quieter inside). No maid service on second day so requested towels, which arrived 7 hours later after a second call. Staff not very friendly with requests or questions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Bourbon Street Experience"
Fantastic stay right on Bourbon St. Friendly staff and amazing restaurants & entertainment. Clean, spacious room with first class furnishings. A little difficult to get to due to the blocking off of Bourbon St. and the $40 parking fee is a bit steep for hotel guests in my opinion, but overall it was a great stay. Pet friendly too!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel on Bourbon"
This was a lovely hotel. At check in, the desk clerk was very accomodating when I asked for a room in a quieter location. The parking valets were very helpful from the moment I arrived and until my departure. One of them took care to give me good directions to the interstate so that I could avoid local construction and street closings. The room was […] beautiful. Bourbon street is mostly fun, but it is noisy and the stench of vomit and other smelly things is inescapable. I only stayed here because the convention I was attending was here. "Good location, but get a room away from Bourbon."
Great location, but Bourbon street is very noisy into the night...get a room away from Bourbon if you plan to sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
At first sight, this hotel looks good, the chandeliers are eyecatching. On closer inspection, the decor is shabby and bedroom furniture mismatched. Breakfast on the first morning was poor. We asked for English breakfast tea but were served Earl Grey. The kitchen had run out of the tea we wanted but nobody bothered to say that a substitute had been served […] and would it be acceptable. I hate Earl Grey. When our omelettes finally arrived, they were lukewarm and served on cold plates. Very poor. Third morning, as my wife was getting dressed, a workman appeared at the window. The management forgot to warn us that work was being done that day. I reported it to reception but did not get an apology. We asked for a street view room but to see the street, you had to stand on a chair. We did not find that the street noise particularly bothersome, being on the fifth floor Sorry to be quite negative, so I will give thanks yo the lady who serviced our room and the gentleman at the concierge desk who knew everything The final gripe was that our room cards did not work one day.
