Great hotel. Updated and perfect location. The property is a historic hotel, well maintained. Rooms are good size.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Classy hotel on bourbon str, good jazz lounge"
Classy hotel right on Bourbon street.Has very nice jazz lounge with good jazz. Environment around hotel somewhat seedy,Bourbon Street has many drinking establishments and many nude clubs , definitely not for kidsGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel Peter, thank you for your compliments on the live jazz at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse and for your comments on the hotel. We’re pleased to share that there is plenty of family-friendly activities in New Orleans including the Audubon Aquarium, Zoo and Insectarium plus swamp tours, bike rentals and more! And each summer our French Quarter Fling Package includes discounts to these kinds of attractions. We hope you will consider staying with us again soon.
"Location Location Location"
The hotel was nice. Location is the BEST thing about this hotel. It is literally on Bourbon. Has PJ's Coffee (very good) and another restaurant we didn't get to try but looked nice. Our AC wasn't working but once I made the call someone came to fix it within 15 minutes. The double beds are I think a full size, so not too big for two adults. Overall […] it was very nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bourbon Street 5 star gem"
This is a great hotel right on Bourbon Street. It was great central place to stay, it was a bit loud at times due to outside party goers, but I knew that was going to be a problem based on the location. I had very little issues sleeping and the bed was very comfy. The rooms are not large but not too small either. If I had to nitpick my gripe is with […] charging for bottled water in your room, would be nice to have the first bottle free at least. Hotel is similar to other Sonesta’s and it’s a fun place to stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great place to stay!"
If your experience is to take in Bourbon Street spirits, your in a great place. The rooms & location is excellent. The only issue I had on my stay was that the room temperature wasn't the greatest & w/ little to no control, climate control is difficult especially when it gets closer to summer.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel Thank you for reviewing our hotel and recommending us for the ideal French Quarter experience. We are sorry that you felt the room temperature was not comfortable and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will be sure to resolve this issue soon. On your future travels please consider one of our Sonesta properties in the U.S. and abroad.
Overall very nice. Guess I was confused about the bed size from the web site. We were given a Queen bed. Thought it would be a King. And, they did not get into clean the room while we were out so had to make bed ourselves.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I really enjoyed the Royal Synesta. Location is perfect. Fun to the right! Great good to the left. Service was immaculate. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants the perfect stay while partying in the French Quarters.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old but nice hotel; great Jazz bar!"
Hotel was an old school nice but $40 to park! It also took way too long to check in but after that the experience was great. Fortunately one of the highest rated Jazz venues is in the hotel and they didn't disappoint. Great experience!Genuine Expedia guest review

Overall it was a great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loud but to be expected on Bourbon Street. Great location near everything...Genuine Expedia guest review
A little expensive for the actual accommodations, the room wasn't available at the time it was supposed to be, but walked across the street and passed the time. After all, it was Bourbon Street!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right in the middle of the french quarter"
The service at this hotel is stellar. Everyone is so nice and really make you feel like you are well taken care of.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was ok, view was not good, several unauthorized, unexplained charges for several hundred dollars were made to my credit card before i ever checked in that have never been credited back to my account, and loud hollering in the hallway all night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to where you want to be"
Everything was incredibly great. The only problem I encountered was that my TV did not work. But I wasn't too worried about it since I was busy enjoying what the area around the hotel had to offer. The hotel itself was grandiose and amazing in every way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Location Was Great"
I had never done the Mardi Gras thing so when I decided to do it this year I wanted a hotel in the French Quarter where I would not have to drive or walk to far so even though the room and parking were very spendy I booked here. The room was extremely tiny. Maybe they're all like this in this area but I was very disappointed. Also no coffee maker and […] they charge $45 a night for parking. I did the experience so I can take it off of my bucket list and I don't plan on returning but if I do I won't be staying here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in the French Quarter"
Great location for everything. A bit noisy at night with Bourbon Street right there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient access to French Quarter"
Overall, the stay was satisfactory. The room accomodations were a little smaller than depicted on the website, but clean and comfortable. Our request to have a "street view" was a little dissapointing as the room overlooked a lower balcony, so only the rooftop was visible. Our reservation included a request for pet accomodations. Although the hotel […] allows pets, it does not have any designated onsite facilities for pet care. I was also overcharged on the pet fee at a daily rate instead of a "stay" rate. "Just what I needed!"
I came to New Orleans b/c I needed a break and a bit if renewal. I had always wanted to stay at the Sonesta so figured it was the perfect time. Great location and I could walk where ever I wanted to go. Room was spacious and super comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Extremely happy with our stay here!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great location, charm and ammenities"
great place to stay if you want to experience the French quarter in the heart of it all, with the charm of a vintage hotel with courtyard and pool deck, great tavern and restaurant on site with the entire strip of exciting places to visit within a very short walkGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bourbon St. hotel"
The hotel was great . Wonderful location great staff very helpful but this is the second time in 2 years we book a hotel thru expedia and requested a King bed paid for it and did not get it! This hotel said its only a request thru expedia that's why we didn't get it. I don't understand why when we book it we are given a choice and I paid the higher […] cost for the King room. I am very disappointed in this and will probably never book a hotel room again thru expedia. I will still use for airline tickets but will call hotel directly from now on to book my rooms myself to assure I have what I ordered and paid for, especially since this was the second time this happened. I even received an email the day before my trip confirming my reservation so I felt comfortable that it would not happen again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, good location."
Nice older hotel adequately updated. Lots of character.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right on Bourbon Street"
The location of the hotel could not be beat. It was right on Bourbon Street and we didn't need to take a taxi anywhere in the city. Obviously an older building that lent to its charm in no way was it in disrepair. The staff was extremely pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel right in the heart of the French Quarter. Room was roomy, clean and services were spot on. Love the doormen here! Everything is in walking distance so only used 1 taxi cab to get to the casino. Centrally located, great staff and a known hot spot to celebs!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is great, Burbon steet is out of control. Not for us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall, great place to stay. The TV signal was always going out which made it very frustrating for the time we were in our room relaxing. Also, could never get the room warm enough, even when turning the thermostat all the way on. Otherwise would recommend the stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The ice machines"
The ice machines never worked on the fifth floor, had to go all over for ice, and my wife needed Ice for her knee.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful hotel and excellent service, located right in the center of all the fun on Bourbon Street. Just a short walk to great restaurants and the trolley lines. We had a great time!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Near all the action"
Hotel was comfortable and well-appointed. Staff, helpful and available for questions. Coffee service in the attached P&J coffee bar was surly and slow. Always a long line. Overall, you have to be willing to wade through the crowds and sleep through the noise which lasts throughout the night. A great experience in NOLA.Genuine Expedia guest review
We recently stayed at the Royal Sonesta and was very pleased with facilities and staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice hotel. Steep price for the tiny rooms we were crammed in to. Also asked when we reserved far in advance to be next to our friends, who placed at the opposite end of the hall from us. Nice place, but next time I'll get more value staying elsewhere.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel has it all"
Excellent. Had to move to an interior facing room after first night because the street noise is LOUD. NO PROBLEM WITH NEW ROOM. GREAT JAZZ CLUB IN THE HOTEL. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"In the middle of if it all, yet very quiet."
This Is a very nice hotel... Has everything New Orleans offers. It has a jazz bar with some of the best performers in New Orleans nightly. The restaurant R'evolution was amazing.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Walking distance to everything"
We stayed at royal Sonesta for the rock and roll marathon. It was a very convienent location to the starting line. Hotel was in walking distance to everything we wanted to see. We had a balcony room with a great view. The restaurants attached to the hotel had wonderful service and very good food. Thank you for a fabulous experience. Will definitely […] return with our friends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed at this hotel 4 times previously and always enjoyed the stay and viewed it as an elegant sanctuary in the craziness of Bourbon St. When I signed up for the New Orleans Marathon and was looking at booking a hotel in the French Quarter to stay with my wife this was the natural choice. Unfortunately the stay was not a good one - from the […] doorman focusing on his texts as opposed to opening the door for guests to our room not being available till 90 minutes after check in time to a tiny box room (the hotel was full) that did not have functioning HVAC. The hotel seems more geared towards the conference crowd ... I would not recommend it for individual travelers and will be staying elsewhere in future Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Staff Needs More Training."
Nice hotel right on Bourbon street. Hotel is very very light on staff and therefore, do not expect any of the normal hotel everyday services, such as the basic "can I take your bags for you from the street into the hotel, or from the front desk up to your room" Also, if you book this hotel thru Expedia expect to be treated like a second class guest. […] During check out I asked the most common normal question that every guest staying at ANY HOTEL would ask. "COULD I PLEASE HAVE MY RECEIPT" The response you receive at this hotel is "Oh you can't get a receipt because you booked this hotel thru EXPEDIA. What ?? There must be something you can give me showing that I was actually here and showing that I have a ZERO balance due at this hotel. Their response was 'SORRY WE HAVE NOTHING TO GIVE YOU, YOU NEED TO CONTACT EXPEDIA" I guess the hotel must be of the opinion that I should have booked my stay thru them so therefore, they wanted to punish me. Totally ridiculous !!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
place was nice but the room had some extra tables in it. Almost like they were storing them in there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the hotel and very comfy bed and pillows. The fitness center is very small for such a big hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bourbon Street view"
Great location. Always wanted a room with balcony overlooking Bourbon Street. Check-in attendant was great in helping me get the room I wantedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful Hotel, Great Location"
Everything was great except for a minor issue the first night. They had put us in a room right next to the fitness center. Needless to say, we could hear everything including the people running on the treadmill which had waken us at 7:30 AM. They immediately offered to change our room which we took them up on, but why they would put guests next to an […] area that noise carries so well, baffled us. Especially when there are open rooms available. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel far exceeded all of our expectations. Staff was very knowledgeable and went out of their way to be accommodating. Make sure you ask for room on courtyard side as Bourbon St. is very loud long into the night. We have found our "go-to" hotel for New Orleans.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wonderful hotel in a fantastic location"
Confortable, clean place with a great friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location but small room"
Location is great for this hotel. The room we have was not only small but dated. We felt disappointed a bit. The staff was very responsive though.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was awesome. Great insure food and Music. I had heard if you get an outside room on Bourbon or Continue street it could get a little loud with the music, so I booked a request for an inside courtyard room and it was greatGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very comfortable stay in an excellent location"
The service was impeccable. Very friendly service. Everyone from the parking attendant to the valet, they were helpful and well informed. We were travelling with another couple who had a separate room. For some reason they had more pillows on their bed than we did and we would have like to have had, but that was minor. Our shower was also different. […] They had a regular stationary shower head and ours was one that could be hand-held and when held in place could be moved up and down on the wall. The bar it was anchored to, came off, but we were easily able to put it back with no issues. With the exception of these two minor things, our stay was comfortable and the location was perfect for being near the French Quarter and traveling down Magazine Street to the WWII Museum (I'd highly recommend it) and to Martinique Bistro for Christmas Eve dinner. Would definitely stay at the Royal Sonesta Hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Commode in our room would not flush. Reported, gentleman came and supposedly fixed it, but still had a very difficult flushing.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was very nice, right smack in the middle of Bourbon Street. The only draw back of that is the noise late at night. We really enjoyed our stay, only real dissatisfaction was the over priced parking per day for our car. Didn't realize it was going to be that much!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only bad part of our stay was leaving, thank you Royal SonestaGenuine Hotels.com guest review
