The room itself was smaller than a standard room in Vegas. The hotel overall could use some updating as you can see the wear and tear.My daughter stayed in another room and ordered room service on 2 separate days, the 1st time her husband did not write down a tip as he assumed with the $3.50 serv chg per order and additional fee not including the tax […] covered it, so the next time they ordered room service it was 30 minutes late and upon calling they were told 10 minutes, their breakfast was cold and scrambled eggs hard you could pick up in one piece. We will not be staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old, Charming, Great Location, Noisy"
It's a charming, old hotel. Great service. Perfect location in the middle of everything in the French Quarter. Old, slow elevators are kind of a bummer, but inevitable in this area. Also, don't expect a quiet night, especially if your room is near the elevators. Drunk people getting off the elevators and yelling/laughing all night long. Otherwise, a […] great stay. "Great but a little pricey on weekends"
A nice hotel the only thing off was some sort of mattress pad that felt like a plastic sheet so you wake up from the sound when you move at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Overpriced, even with the big discount"
Room wasn't ready at check-in time, so had to have the manager find me a room. Keys that worked would randomly quit working. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls. Bellman was supposed to bring up a key for the minibar and never showed. Toilet was really hard to flush. The room was just very dated. At $215 a night, I realize that's a big discount from […] the regular rate, but I still feel it was overpriced for a dated room. With the exception of Joe the valet runner, the service was just average. Usually service in NOLA is over the top and it just wasn't. This hotel would've been better suited for a younger crowd (and I'm only 39). The room filtered out very little noise from neighbors partying down the hallway and Bourbon Street (and I was on the Bienville side) - and they start picking up garbage before 5 a.m. and you can hear it all from the room. Slept very little to none. We enjoyed people watching from the balcony, but it's a very tight space. I never once had a bellman offer to carry or unload our bags upon arrival or departure. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it for someone there for any reason other than to party. I've been to NOLA many many times and I won't stay at the Royal Sonesta again. We are excited to share with you that hotel-wide renovations and service upgrades are planned for next year which will address many of your concerns of your recent stay. We hope that you will give us another try after the renovations.
RIght on Bourbon Street but quiet, elegant. Safe valet garage parking for a fee but driving in the French District is crazy. Lovely dormer room, cozy. Outdoor pool area looked lovely but a bit to breezy plus we ran out of time.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel Thank you for choosing to stay at the Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans and taking the time to share this feedback. We are very happy to read that you had such a wonderful time! Please remember us for your next getaway or special occasion.
"Right on Bourbon Street"
Great location. Located directly on Bourbon Street. Nice pool.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everyone was So friendly. But the parking you have to past for even if you stay at the hotel and it's very expensive we stayed one night and it was over $45.00 dollar. But u would still go again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Right on Bourbon Street!"
You cannot get closer to the action of Boubon Street. We used the valet for our car, it was a little pricey, but that is what you can expect in downtown New Orleans where space is at a premium. Check in was a breeze, we went up to our room, took in the beautifully decorated room, then headed out to Bourbon Street for a night on the town. Do not worry […] about security. They make sure they check every person that walks into the hotel in the evening for a room key. We chose an interior room because some of the reviews said the street side was a little noisy. We slept peacefully and headed out the following morning for bignets at Cafe DuMonde, which is just a few blocks away. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel has it all"
This hotel was recommended to us by friends who had stayed there before. It was convenient to everything in the French Quarter, we loved the restaurant Desires for breakfast and the Jazz lounge in the hotel. All staff was very helpful and accommodating. We also enjoyed the pool in the afternoon after walking around all morning. Would stay here for sure […] when we come back to visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Will stay again"
Our son lives and works in the French Quarter so the Royal Sonesta is a very convenient place for us to stay. Everything was wonderful. The only complaint is that there was almost nowhere to park for dropping us off. Makes things a bit chaotic and a long walk with luggage.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel Cindy, we are so happy to accommodate you when you’re in town visiting your son! Please know for future visits that we have a lower lobby for you to be dropped off safely with your luggage. You can access the lower lobby via Conti or Bienville Streets and take the elevator directly up to our main lobby where you check-in. This should cut your walk in half! We can’t wait to welcome you back and hope you have another wonderful stay next time.
Had a great time, nice saltwater pool, excellent service team, real well manneredGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfy. ..customer srvc not great"
The location is great for French Quarter fun. Nostalgia of Royal Sonesta and the music in the bar was FANTASTIC. The room was super comfy, great bed very well design and amenities. Enjoyed the robes.. You hear bourbon st in the room but to me that was part of why we stayed at that hotel... We slept great. We spend more for a balcony w beautiful French […] doors.. our view was blocked by another balcony so we viewed an empty street. But were able to hear the music and fun on bourbon. I called to move one room over (and pay extra if needed) Front desk assured me of a call back, which never came. I tried again but same story....little disappointed but oh well. Each time we left the garage there was an issue with our ticket. The communication was lost between the front desk and the garage. I was charged an extra day and each day had to prove we paid before leaving... no one ever had a proper solution....a lot of finger pointing between reception and garage.... we tried all that was told nothing worked. "The neon lights are bright on Bourbon Street"
This place had all the right things going for it. The only thing that wasn't perfect was we reserved a room with a king bed and got a room with two double beds. It was so pleasant, though, that we let it go and enjoyed the room. I'd return in a heartbeat!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Please to stay in French quarter"
Everything was fine except if you have drunk loud neighbors next door...paper thin walls but I guess that is to be expected in French quarter. Very helpful staff...ask for the rooms off bourbon street.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel John, we appreciate your helpful comments about your recent stay with us, and we are sorry that you were disturbed by some other guests. In the future, please do not hesitate to contact the front desk or security on any excessive noise concerns. Our staff is quick to react and can even do a room change if necessary. "Very Good Classic Old Hotel"
It the heart of it all on Bourbon Street. A very classic old hotel with modern updates. Very comfortable and clean and knowledgeable staff. We welcome you to stay at one of our Sonesta Hotels again soon, located in the U.S. and abroad.
I expected more from a 4 star hotel. Among other small things they desperately need trash cans in every elevator lobby. There was trash near every elevator late at night and every morning. Not at all a 4 star impression to see trash on the floor every dayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location in the heart of French District."
At check-in we asked for a quiet room off of Bourbon St. and we never heard any street noise. Only negative comment is no in-room coffee maker.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel Thank you for taking the time to share this important feedback. "Great Hotel, Great Location"
My wife and I stayed here for one night out in Downtown New Orleans. Located right on Bourbon Street it is hard not to appreciate everything about this hotel. Its well kept and holds its old time grandeur with its fancy lobby and bell hops. It's great to have a parking garage right underneath. There seems to be a lot of parking, we rode a motorcycle […] so our parking situation was a little different. The room was beautiful and looked right out onto Bourbon street. That has it's ups and downs. We were out late but Bourbon was alive for a lot longer than us. The only thing I didn't appreciate was there was a two inch gap under each of the doors from the room to the hallway. Lots of noises came in and out of that, which could get really annoying. Overall, this was a great hotel, with great service. If you're looking to spend a few nights out on Bourbon this is your place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Easy access to Bourbon Street"
Overall, this was a great hotel. The rooms are nice, although a bit small and are always clean. The hotel lobby is gorgeous and the staff is very friendly. The location is great to walk anywhere in the French Quarter and has a nice bar that opens onto Bourbon Street. Room service was delicious (I recommend the filet). Our room was on Conti St but close […] to Bourbon so we could hear the music, but the air conditioner drowned most of that out so we were able to sleep with no problem. Only problem was we booked a king room and ended up with a double bed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Booked a king got a queen"
Paid for a king got a queen. One elevator was broke so had to wait forever for an elevator. Besides that everything else was ok. Easy access to bourbon street. Parking was painless for a pickup truck. Hotel is easy to get to. Room was very small maybe 300sf. But it did have a mini bar!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Classy hotel on bourbon str, good jazz lounge"
Classy hotel right on Bourbon street.Has very nice jazz lounge with good jazz. Environment around hotel somewhat seedy,Bourbon Street has many drinking establishments and many nude clubs , definitely not for kidsGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Royal Sonesta Hotel Peter, thank you for your compliments on the live jazz at Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse and for your comments on the hotel. "Location Location Location"
The hotel was nice. Location is the BEST thing about this hotel. It is literally on Bourbon. Has PJ's Coffee (very good) and another restaurant we didn't get to try but looked nice. Our AC wasn't working but once I made the call someone came to fix it within 15 minutes. The double beds are I think a full size, so not too big for two adults. Overall […] it was very nice. "Bourbon Street 5 star gem"
This is a great hotel right on Bourbon Street. It was great central place to stay, it was a bit loud at times due to outside party goers, but I knew that was going to be a problem based on the location. I had very little issues sleeping and the bed was very comfy. The rooms are not large but not too small either. If I had to nitpick my gripe is with […] charging for bottled water in your room, would be nice to have the first bottle free at least. "Great place to stay!"
If your experience is to take in Bourbon Street spirits, your in a great place. The rooms & location is excellent. The only issue I had on my stay was that the room temperature wasn't the greatest & w/ little to no control, climate control is difficult especially when it gets closer to summer.Genuine Expedia guest review

Overall very nice. Guess I was confused about the bed size from the web site. We were given a Queen bed. Thought it would be a King. And, they did not get into clean the room while we were out so had to make bed ourselves.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old but nice hotel; great Jazz bar!"

"Right in the middle of the french quarter"
The service at this hotel is stellar. Everyone is so nice and really make you feel like you are well taken care of.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Close to where you want to be"
Everything was incredibly great. The only problem I encountered was that my TV did not work. But I wasn't too worried about it since I was busy enjoying what the area around the hotel had to offer. The hotel itself was grandiose and amazing in every way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Location Was Great"
I had never done the Mardi Gras thing so when I decided to do it this year I wanted a hotel in the French Quarter where I would not have to drive or walk to far so even though the room and parking were very spendy I booked here. The room was extremely tiny. Maybe they're all like this in this area but I was very disappointed. Also no coffee maker and […] they charge $45 a night for parking. I did the experience so I can take it off of my bucket list and I don't plan on returning but if I do I won't be staying here. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great location for everything. A bit noisy at night with Bourbon Street right there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient access to French Quarter"
Overall, the stay was satisfactory. The room accomodations were a little smaller than depicted on the website, but clean and comfortable. Our request to have a "street view" was a little dissapointing as the room overlooked a lower balcony, so only the rooftop was visible. Our reservation included a request for pet accomodations. Although the hotel […] allows pets, it does not have any designated onsite facilities for pet care. I was also overcharged on the pet fee at a daily rate instead of a "stay" rate.
