Rates were cheap and all the staff were super friendly, but bathroom and room were very out-of-date and rooms facing parking made me nervous about security.

The room was acceptable,no bugs, but the area is seedy and there was broken glass in the lot indicating car break ins. Staff was nice and offered all they could for service given the condition and location of the hotel. So the place served the purpose which was a shower and a place to rest for the night.

Ive stayed in far worse hotels. no idea why it has a poor rating. you cant beat the price in the hampton area, never paid more than $65 for a king! only negative is doors on the outside but they have security walking around all night n hes very friendly

I usually like La Quinta motels. They are consistently clean and comfortable. Not this one!! There was live mold growing in the bathtub. The bathroom floor was sticky - gross! The carpet was dirty. Walls were dirty. And to top it off there were many, many people partying allllll night long. The front desk said they had 24 hour security guards walking […] the premises every 15 minutes....I think they decided to join the party. I complained at the front desk in the morning and she said she woulda credited our nights stay, but since I booked it with Hotels.com...they couldn't give me any credit. That was one of the dirtiest hotels we have ever stayed in. We checked out after 2 nights and went to the Holiday Inn express. We stay at La Quinta in the Tacoma/Seattle area often in Wa. state and have had great rooms and service. They are very clean and well kept. The La Quinta in Hampton Virginia was disguting and we will never stay there again.

I think because the hotel has been there for a number of years the quality has dwindled. The lobby was clean and the receptionist at the time of check in was was helpful and friendly. Once we entered the room, it was in order and neat. But we found stains on a blanket as well as foreign hair. The shower was clog with hair and we had to call for maintenance […] to clean it out. The photos that are displayed in the adverstisement of this establishment are very forgiving of the actual condition of the facilities. The room could have smelled fresher and been cleaner (there was hair from prior guest). The air conditioning unit made so much noise when in the compressor kicked in throughout the night that it disrupted my sleep. […] We requested an addition blanket and when it arrived it was covered in hair from either a previous guest or staff members. The light outside my room area was blown out so when I arrived back to the room in the evening I felt a little unsafe walking to my room door with my kids. It was very disappointing over all. The ladies at the front desk were very pleasant and worked hard. When we didn't like the musty smell of our first room, one of the ladies at the front desk didn't hesitate to put us in a different room. Just a couple minutes after asking, we were in a great new room. Thanks!

Hotel is a little run down and needs some TLC. It was clean otherwise, especially for a place that allows pets. We were traveling with our dog, which always makes it hard to find good hotels. The breakfast was your typical hotel breakfast foods; waffles, cereal, toast, english muffins, etc...

The night we stayed the police ushered us into our rooms while they conducted a K-9 drug sweep and after that several very loud hotel guests kept us from sleeping while they shouted conversations to each other right outside our room. Place is awful. Spots on carpet in room. Bed extremely uncomfortable. Hotel was built in 1985 and it shows. Elevator was filthy. Breakfast in the morning was a joke. The room was in the right price range as a brief restting spot for my family on the way to Virginia beach. The room is in major need of maintenance, and would not be on my list for a repeat visit. The tub in the room doesn't feel solid at all, as if the floor below it is shaky. No fan for the bathroom and getting towels from staff was a chore.

Depends on your expectations. The room was clean but very outdated..indoor/outdoor carpet was old & stained, phone was yellowed, burn marks on bathroom fixtures, 70s style bathroom tile & sink area, tight quarters to access toilet. On the positive, hotel was right off I64.
