My only complaint was the pillows were too big and not comfortable. When I asked for a smaller one they brought me a lumpy one. (ugh). The food at the restaurant was good but the service was a bit slow. The heating was a bit difficult to get just right as you can't adjust it to a particular temperature.

Stayed at the Caimino Real with my 7 year old over Thanksgiving and was greated nicely, they put a refrigerator in my room and our beds were FANTATICALLY comfortable. Lots of pillows and veru comfortable. Only thing I did not like is they did not have any TV stations for kids (i.e. cartoon network, etc). Other than that hotel was great.

The Camino Real Hotel is a part of El Paso history. It's always been my first choice when visiting El Paso if I'm not staying with family. The downtown location is central and convenient whether you need to visit the west side or the east side of El Paso -- it's right in the middle and convenient to the freeway. The surrounding neighborhood may scare away some travelers. Although the city has made a lot of improvements to the area to bring some life back to the downtown area, it's still desolate, dirty-looking and not very appealing, day or night. Inside, the Dome bar is magnificent; a great place to meet up with friends or just relax and look up at the beautiful Tiffany cieling. The formal restaurant is superb and the informal, Azulejos, is excellent. The rest of the hotel is in desperate need of a major renovation, however. Although rooms are sizabel, broken windows, a myriad of extension cords circling the room and dingy looking bathrooms are more reminiscent of an econo-lodge than luxury boarding. There was a foul smell of sewage in the bathroom, and then waste water started coming up from the bathtub drain, leaving a trail of brown scum. When we asked to change rooms, however, the staff apologized and gave us another room (albeit smaller and no help moving our things). The elevators were frustrating. At times we waited more than 10 minutes to go down from our floor, with the "down" button periodically shutting itself off, presumably as down elevators passed our floor but did not stop. I would probably stay there again, but my fiance likely would not.

The hotel is old but clean. I had to be moved from the original room I had because of a loud drippy faucett in the bathroom. The layout of the room is not as conducive to business as some of the newer hotels (electrical outlet not placed close to the desk, etc.) but overall it was a pleasant stay in an old historic hotel located downtown. Much construction in that area now though.

We have stayed at the Camino Real Hotel in El Paso a number of times. We love the beautiful "Blue Dome" bar and the yummy food and superb service of the restaurants. Our rooms have always been clean, comfortable with elegant white curtains, lovely furniture, & great window views. This is the first time that the "fancy" restaurant and the bar were closed which was really disappointing. Then the service and food at the casual restaurant was really a let-down. Terrible. Guess we need to remember that on Sunday's do not come here. Too bad.

The staff at this hotel is very accomodating and the hotel itself is very nice. It is convenient for people who do not want to leave the hotel for dinner. Room service and the lobby restaurant are lacking in variety and quality for the price. The only thing that is shocking is the price you have to pay for the parking garage which is your only option. That and the elevators are the slowest ever. The rooms are roomy, maybe a little too roomy and are old looking. This may be because the entire hotel is very old but still a nice place to stay.

After driving for 3 days from Seattle we were happy to see comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. The maintenance man said they were having the satellite service fixed when he came to fix the tv in our room. This is a very old historic hotel and has lots of charm, cleanliness and the staff are very helpful. The food in the restaurant is overpriced however and the service is lacking. The breakfast buffet is worth it however. I did not realize how close we were to the border and the surrounding area is crowded with cheap border shops.

While the camino real is touted as a historic hotel, it should be noted that historic and just plain old, outdated, and unkept, are two different things. Having just recently stayed at the magnolia hotel in dallas and being blown away, i expected the same of the real. the room at the magnolia was slightly more, but it was EASILY twice as big, with a full kitchen, living area, and modern amenities. the real was tiny, stuffy, there were cracks and holes in every surface in the bathroom, and i had a wonderful view of.. nothing. i suppose if i were on vacation in the states from mexico, i MIGHT have been impressed, but, if i had to guess, the camino is struggling to keep the doors open at all. if i had to chose between the real, and the motel 6 i stayed in a week earlier, i'd stay in the motel 6, and it wasn't great.

The variety of choices at the breakfast buffet was appreciated and we enjoyed the mexican dishes such as chile colorado, the made to order omelets, fresh fruits and Starbucks coffee. The tiffany dome in the classy bar is worth a visit itself and reminded us some of the grand rooms found in Venice. Minor glitches such as elevator problems and outdated tile in the bathrooms are easy to overlook. Don't stay here for the neighborhood, but parking was easy and downtown is centrally located.
