"Incredible room but the executive "buffet"...?"
Everything was great about this room. The room was big enough the UFC could have installed an octagon in it. The only problem I actually had with this place is the executive breakfast. I thought a buffet was included from the description, well I guess it was basically a pastry/cereal/fruit breakfast that isn't worth the extra. But the rest of my stay […] was great. "close to downtown but rooms could use a bit of hel"
When my friends and i initially stepped in the rooms, we thought wow these look really nice, the TVs are outdated, they are the older box type TVs but in all reality we didn't have time to watch TV so it didn't matter. There was a hair dryer with ironing board and iron, all that was nice. Room service was not good, all 3 of my friends that stayed didn't […] get their rooms cleaned in the 2 days we were there. On the 3rd day when leaving they asked if we wanted room service, but then it was like really? WE ARE LEAVING what good is it now. We did tell the front desk, but i guess we weren't important. I don't know if i would stay here again. Makes you wonder how clean the sheets your on really are if they don't do room service every day. I can't say it was an excellent stay unfortunately, and i'm not a picky person. But it wasn't the worst I've stayed at either. So it was ok. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Historic Hotel/Rooms - Outdated & Uncomfortable"
We stayed at the Camino Real a number of years ago and really enjoyed the stay. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for this time around. The first problem was getting to the hotel. There was road construction and it was nearly impossible to get to the entrance. The area in downtown where the hotel is located is completely dead and very dark at night. […] The hotel lobby is beautiful; however, when you go up to the rooms it's a completely different story. I went to the front desk in the evening to check in and could barely hear the representative at the front desk due to the band in the bar. When we went to the room we discovered the beds were double beds and the bathroom was quite old, outdated and just didn't feel clean. The room was musty and again didn't feel clean. We would have asked for another room, but we had two others for family and they were exactly the same. Not only was the bed small, but it was as hard as a board. My husband and I were so uncomfortable and woke up feeling completely unrested. The rate was great - $68 per night - now I know why. For what is a very elegant upscale hotel, the parking is very reasonable - $6 per night. Georgeous hotel - horrible experience. We won't be staying here again unless they update their rooms. "historic hotel in old downtown"
I enjoy staying at this hotel every time I'm in El Paso. It's convenient to everything downtown - which is slowly improving and gaining more energy. The El Paso street markets are right outside and the Dome Bar in the lobby is the crown jewel. Convenient to downtown bars, restaurants and museums. Front desk service staff at times needs work on friendliness, […] and some updates to furniture and TV's in many rooms is needed. Parking is under the hotel and at the time of this post was $6. "Nice, historic hotel in downtown El Paso"
The hotel is beautiful and historic. The room amenities were a little dated (i.e. no flat screen tv, Nintendo 64), but the guest service was first class.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had a very pleasant stay. Big and spacious room. Very quiet and Sunday brunch was awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel has a distinct smell and very disappointed with quality for cost. No control of thermostat. Hotel lobby feels empty and lonely. Bar seems old and unwelcomingGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Camino Real Dome Bar is one of my favorite places in El Paso...beautiful and live music...So now that I have moved out of town and got a good deal, we were delighted to stay at the hotel. The beds were super comfortable with nice linens. The room was very nice and very clean. The only suggestion I can make is that the cleaning staff not knock on […] the door to take a survey about plans because once I am awake I can not go back to sleep, but it wasn't a big deal this time. Great deal via Hotels.com. Great hotel staff but room was a bit dated especially the TV but otherwise satisfactory.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is okay, they need to update there furniture and decorations. I have been at raggedy hotels with better TVs and better bedsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
While checking in I wasn't acknowledged for 5min, even though there were 2 employees helping just one person. Not a "hello", "just a moment", nothing. Once I was helped they were pleasant but I ended up waiting 30 mins for my room even though it was 8pm. The room had some charm with it's historic feel but it mainly needed a remodel. The room smelt moldy, […] the TV had lines on the screen, and the shower head sprayed all over the floor. furthermore, having internet was very important to me yet it barely worked. It was very comfortable, the food was delicious. The hotel bar was gorgoeus, I enjoyed it a lot. The secoon day when I asked the recepcionist about it, she recommendedmus to book at Internet for obtainng a cheaper rate. It would be more […] useful to be aware about that since the frst day. "Nice Old hotel"
The rooms were a little bare, cold and there was minimal lighting. The location is awful, but the middle of downtown El Paso is not my favorite place to go anyways. It's a very beautiful older hotel, but I probably would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I went to see if could check in at 2 pm and was told that check in was at 3. Desk clerk did not even check to see if rooms were available. When I arrived at check-in counter there was only one clerk working. The line was 15 people deep since it was a Saturday evening and there was a wedding party at the hotel that night. I thought the hotel was very beautiful. The rooms need a little updating but they were very clean and nice. The staff lacks a little to be desired. "Weekend at Camino Real Hotel"
Most of it was not good. Only one of four clerks at the check-in counter was actually checking in the people standing in line, so it took longer than it should have. Later that evening, when I was leaving the garage, I was asked by the attendant where my parking pass was. I didn't have one. It should have been given to me when I checked in. When I returned […] that night, there was no ice in the ice machine on my floor nor on another floor I checked. I notified the front desk and a staff member brought me ice. On the second night, my key didn't work and had to be replaced. When I entered my room, it had not been cleaned up. AND, when I went to get ice, there still was none. I went to the front desk and someone had to get ice for me from the bar. After checking out the following morning, I went down to the garage only to find that a pipe had burst directly over my car, sending torrents of water on it! The manager offered to have the car washed but I opted to return it to the rental car company as is, in case there was damage. They thought there was probably some damage and I was charged $200. Luckily, a few days later, I was told that there was no damage and the $200 was credited back to my credit card. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Really enjoyed the evening spent at the hotel. All was very well maintained and the hotel managed to preserve the old style, architecture and woodwork with a nicely updated lobby and hotel room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The bathrooms have recently had tile stripped off the floors and now have a simple stained concrete finish, you know, like they probably have in prison cells. Paint coming off the walls, etc. The televisions are from the 70's. Apparently they haven't yet heard of HD.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will Definitely Stay Here Again - Loved this Hotel"
I had a reservation for a King room on the Executive Level....when we arrived at the hotel, the room was not available due to a wedding that had overbooked; HOWEVER, the staff did an AWESOME job upgrading us to a Master Suite at no additional charge. The hotel's appeal was its central location. And, in fact, it was near good restaurants and downtown. However, due to street closures occasioned by nearby street repair, the parking lot entrance was not readily visible, which was a real "bumber" for this weary traveler. Also, although I don't expect an older hotel to be in mint condition, and it wasn't, […] is too much to ask to have a shower which has a setting other than scald? "Disaster from the get-go!"
First, I booked an Executive Level King. When I got there, the staff have me a normal level queen. I immediately disputed this, but they said there was nothing they could do since they were "fully booked." It was 11pm, so I just wanted to sleep. Then, my room was old and dingy. It looked like it had gone through several bad/cheap remodels. The floors […] weren't particularly clean in the room or bathroom (I walked on towels the entire time). Next, we went to dinner at their in-house "upscale" restaurant. It was decent, but 1. Service for anything took FOREVER (40 mins to get our check!) and 2. They overcharged me from what I signed on the bill (and gratuity was already included!). I called the hotel manager to dispute the overcharges for the room and food, but - SURPRISE! - no one has called me back (3 days later). Overall, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST. (Granted, your experience may differ from mine...but probably not by much.) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great stay in a great hotel. I only have one complaint about the bartender at the Dome. He was obviously new and didn't recognize, or possibly hear, the drinks that I ordered. "Not what I had in mind..."
The first thing that caught my attention was that the elevators had a pungent chemical odor. Once we arrived on our floor the smell did not improve. When my son and I entered the room the experience went further down hill. The good news is that there was no longer a pungent chemical odor. The bad news; it was replaced by the lingering smell of cigarettes, […] which was confirmed by the presence of an ashtray, . Secondly, there was only a single bed in the room, when I had reserved double beds and a non-smoking room a month in advance. Once I had discovered the discrepancy I called the front desk immediately. Unfortunately they did not answer the phone after repeated attempts. At this point we were so tired from our days events that we decided to just live with it and go to sleep. The next morning when we checked out, I inquired if I incurred any incidentals on the credit card that I was required to give when I checked in. The person at the front desk informed me that I had not incurred any, and that she would void the $50 charge that was placed on the account. What hotel charges a credit card without approval from the card holder? I feel misled by the description of the hotel and the reservation specifics that I requested through Hotels.com. There has obviously been some attention given to the lobby of the hotel, but it's all window dressing.
