"Charge you for everything."
Great location for the airport and access to DC. I've stayed at a lot of Hilton and Hilton partner hotels. I've been charged for parking before but never the full rate as if I wasn't a guest at the hotel. $26 a day. Then i get to my room and even simple internet, wired or wireless, cost $13 a day. The bathroom was tiny and the only source of ventilation […] was a tiny fan that didn't work. There was moisture damage on the walls in the bathroom. I was in an HHonors room also, which makes me wonder about the rest of the rooms. There was no complimentary breakfast either. The staff was very nice and the location is good for that area. I just dislike being charged for every little thing that they can think of. I've stayed at much cheaper places and not felt like the hotel was trying to bleed me dry. Parking garage is small, so don't visit if you have a big vehicle. I was forced to park in a restricted area, only because there it was a weekend and construction staff were gone. the security guard tried to make me leave, despite telling him I had coordinated with the front desk. Overall, this hotel was a great choice. We stayed here while we did a quick visit of D.C. tourist attractions and the Dover Nascar race. The room and hotel were clean. I called a few days ahead of time also because my flight was not landing until midnight and advised them I needed a late checkin. they said no worries. Overall disappointing. Lack of continental breakfast, or at the very least a one-time voucher or discount. High priced food & beverage from hotel options. Restaurant closed before dinner hours. Coming back from late night conferences & meetings, there are not many food options in the area, hotel doesn’t accommodate this by at the very least having some […] kind of appetizer menu in the bar. No snack vending machines. Small rooms. Everything is crammed with only room for walking. The bathroom is terribly small & very uncomfortable. The door wouldn’t open all the way without hitting the tub. Have to get in the bathroom & squeeze sideways to get the door to close. (Compared to a public restroom stall). While sitting on the toilet you could not close the door; knees in the way. More than one person could not be in the bathroom. NO FAN in the bathroom. Stains on bed comforter. Fridge & safe crammed in a cupboard, no microwave. See food accommodations above, can’t even warm something up. Can’t control heat; cold in the room most of the time. The room door would not shut without forcefully pulling or pushing. Staff: Some were nice, most were rude. Majority of staff were overwhelmed when there was more than one thing going on. If there was noise in the lobby there was a sense of irritability & rudeness from more than one staff member. I stay at this hotel once a year for a convention. I was pleased to see that the renovations were complete, at least in the areas I was in (corner room on 2nd floor, Plaza level, lobby). The bathrooms are still very tiny, and our bathroom door wouldn't stay closed all the way, but everything was newly redecorated and clean. This year we asked for a […] corner king, instead of two queens, and we had SO much more space! It was the same price as a room with two queens, through a hotel reservations website which you many have heard of (ahem), with about three times the floor space. Plus a decent sofa and coffee table. (I think the sofa pulled out into a bed, but we didn't need it. Would be handy for those sharing a room, but it was just me and my daughter this year.) Elevators are still slow, and the underground garage is still scary and difficult to maneuver a minivan in, but overall it was a lot nicer than last year. Front desk lady seemed a little testy on checkout, but we had a large convention there all week, there was a long line to check out, and they were probably a little tired of us by Sunday! I had a meeting to attend near the Crystal City metro stop. Other hotels are within a block of the metro, but pricier. This was a pleasant walking distance (less than 1/2 mile, and I enjoy walking before and after a long meeting). Can do the entire walk through the undeground shops if it's too cold outside.
