"Charm in an old historic hotel"
It was a deal at $150 per night. Pleasant experience and we'll return. However the cozy small room may not be for everyone. This is an old buidling which requires much upkeep. The management is doing a good job trying to keep up with the demands an older building requires. Parking is convenient and hotel is an easy walk to some great restaurants. We […] enjoyed being away from the congestion of downtown Santa Barbara. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Look out for traffic noise"
We had a "mountain view" queen which was small but comfortable. The problem with the hotel is that you are on the busy Coast Village Road as we were or on the back with the sound of the 101 freeway. A lot of truck refrigerator noise during the night. Still a good place and the late night dessert at the restaurant was terrific.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Did not deliver as promised"
The hotel itself is a lovely hotel in a lovely setting, but we were not given the room I booked. I asked for a room with just a shower and an ada toilet and that was promised such in the confirmation. We were given a room with a tub/shower combo and the lowest toilet ever. The bed was soooo high that I could not get into it without a stool. The hotel […] had given their one and only stool to someone else and brough a step-stool for me to use.. Considering the prices they normally charge the # of TV stations was very limited. At check-in I asked about the room and showed my confirmation, listing the above requirements, and was told they did not have that available.....was offered a room with a bedroom up a flight of stairs from the main room....not good for a person with back and knee problems. On the other hand the in-house restaurant was nice and the staff was very helpful and pleasant and the food good. The decor of the hotel was lovely and so is Montecito itself. But, I would not go back to that hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming small hotel with wonderful ambience."
It was our second stay and this time we took friends. We all loved it and hope to return. The dining room is excellent and always full -- a favourite spot of locals too. The rooms, though small, are well-maintanied and very comfortable. Montecito is a pretty community; Santa Barbara is a perfect holiday spot!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For $190 dollars I wouldn't stay again. A maid came into our room 6 different times in the morning, even with a "do not disturb" sign hanging. Not to mention the loudest drilling and matinence in the rooms above us. Smallest bathroom ever, dated looking rooms. Wasn't all that impressed to be honest.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Couples or business travel ok."
Way too close to the freeway. Too far from the ocean.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great old inn"
service great. food at restaurant as good as any in SB.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything was perfect, from the valet parking (only $7 a day), excellent front desk. We (my daughter and I ) were able to pay for an upgrade to a room with 2 queens (Think there are very few).. "Much cheaper than the near-by Biltmore Hotel"
Hotel was clean and had very friendly staff. Walls were kind of thin or perhaps the neighbors next door were just loud but thank God they went to sleep at a reasonable time. The location was right off the freeway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice small hotel in a charming location."
A small hotel with relatively small bedrooms and small baths but very charming. The complimentary continental breakfast is buffet style in a room looking out at Montecito. The hotel is well located for walks in the village and down to the beach. It is a short drive to Santa Barbara for those looking for more action.Genuine Expedia guest review
Extremely nice staff, very helpful with reccommendations. Would stay again. This was t the first stay of our drive up the PCH.Genuine Expedia guest review
Thought we were staying at a more plush hotel. Rooms and bathrooms were very small. Very quaint though!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice couple getaway!"
It is a lovely small, boutique hotel. Very clean, friendly & quaint. Our only disappointment would be the breakfast which is so basic & not a very big variety of food choices.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Why stay anywhere else?"
This is a wonderful old hotel, recently refurbished, right in the heart of beautiful Montecito. It's a very short drive from Santa Barbara and also a short walk to the beach. The attached restaurant (not owned by the hotel) is quite good and we saw it has been rated as the best in Montecito, so we went out and walked the town, checked out the menus […] at the other restaurants, and ended up eating there, where we were very, very pleased. Charlie Chaplin once owned this hotel and they cleverly carry a Chaplin them through their decor. Nice touch! We'd definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent! As good or better than 25 years ago."
Just spent our 25th anniversary there since we had spent our wedding night in the same hotel. When the hotel staff found out, we received an upgrade on our room AND a complimentary bottle of wine. We loved the mountain view; excellent service. The restaurant also excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It is a charming, rickety old tub with an accordian elevator door and an Alice in Wonderland staircase, where one expects to meet Peter Rabbit on the landing. The room and bathroom were small but comfortable--a Granny's house feeling...Excellent lunch and dinner restaurant, but a depressing "buffet" breakfast with coffee in paper cups and Danish pastries […] in plastic wrap, which spoil and cheapen the retro atmosphere. Elegant, inviting rose marble lobby with grand fireplace. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Right off the fwy in cozy town of Montecito, CA"
Great service from valet to check in. The hotel has an old world charm and wonderful restaurant. You can walk everywhere to charming shops or just take a leisurely stroll. The rooms are small and and comfortable with every amenity you might need. Close to Santa Barbara , quiet and romantic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice experience"
Don't stay in many boutique-style hotels, so this was a new experience. Very nice place. The only drawback was the lack of AC perhaps, although it was cool enough with the window open. I enjoyed the stay overall.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite! A real treat and extremely comfortable. We enjoyed our stay. I just wish it was longer.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Old, but charming"
The hotel location is very convenient to local shops and nice restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, our room was old and had a stale smell. There were no airconditioners in the rooms. Open windows help, but noise from nearby freeway kept me awake all night. Next time I'll try to get a luxury room. They are updated, bigger and […] have very beautiful bathrooms. Unfortunately, they are expensive, but Montecito Inn runs deals on those rooms from time to time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

charming hotel. the bed was very compfortable! we took the stairs opposed to elevator it ran a little slow. disappointed that the cafe and bar both closed in the late afternoon and reopened at 5;30, so if you want a little snack or drink they did have coffee and fruit...Genuine Expedia guest review

"Like a very nice boutique hotel."
The staff was very hospitable; it felt like a small, boutique hotel. The room was very comfortable and the lobby was lovely. I highly recommend this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
A very nice (old) hotel over all. However, there was no air conditioning and our room was really warm. The room was very nice, but for the money I'd rather stay somewhere a little more modern.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I loved it, and the best thing are the whole stafff,in every thing, very polite , very helpful, breakfast was just fine essential, but not much, the coffee was amazing , specially they have a booth all day long which was great, the valllet parking was very goood, but little bit expensive 8$ per night, specially you are going to tip them each time i […] pick the car, I enjoyed also enjoyed the jaccuzy. "Wonderful small hotel close to everything."
Wonderful location to all of Coast Village Road shops and restaurants. Because the hotel is older, it can get a bit loud in the mornings with maids, guests checking out etc. The restaurant downstairs was excellent! Entire staff was quite professional and friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
We injoyed our stay at the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful as well as valet service. Cafe Montecito excellant, will recomend to all. Would have enjoyed air conditioning to cool off room. Would stay again. Enjoyed the history of C. Chaplin and the folk lore...fun.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful heritage but disappointing"
The hotel is located next to a freeway and a frequently used railway line. The rooms are not air conditioned therefore noise can be a problem as well as heat. Our room had one window and overlooked a roof and there was no cross draft. The room and the bathroom, although attractive and well appointed, were small. We were generally thrilled with our stay in Montecito, but the days we were there were warm and our room had no air conditioning. Even with the window open, the ventilation was very poor, and the noise from the street below was loud. The staff was spectacular, interesting and very good-natured. The original room I had was very stuffy and I asked if there was an A/C room. Yes, there was but at a much greater price. "Hotel in a sad, sad state"
I have been staying in Santa Barbara and at the Monteceito Inn for more than a decade. I can't believe how badly the hotel has gone down hill. The rooms just seem dirty, the shutters are broken and need to be replaced, as do the bedspreads, and lamps. The hotel seems to get louder and louder becasue it is sitting on top of the freeway. I hate to say […] it, but we will never stay here again. Great location, great memories but it needs a complete overhaul and obviously the owners are not interested in investing in this property. Pros: Beautiful hotel, very friendly and accommodating staff. Quaint history and well maintained charm. Very clean and quality amenities. Loved the pool at night! I felt at home instantly. Our room on 2nd floor had no A/C; had to keep window open and restaurant next door was banging dishes 'till 4am, apparently doing a big cleaning. "Charming Boutique Hotel"
Charming, well maintained hotel in a great location. Also enjoyed the complimentary breakfast-nice assortment of items along with a pleasant location. My only issue with this hotel is that our room did not have air conditioning. Our room had one window which faced a very noisy restaurant. Every time they would unload the dish washer or wash the dishses […] (all night long) it was terrible. We had to close our window to sleep and then the room was warm. "Excellent place to stay"
The overnight stay was fantastic. It is a short 5 minute walk down to the beach. Ideally located with numerous breakfast, lunch and dinner options within a short couple minutes of walking. "Great charming hotel"
My husband and I had a short stop in Santa Barbara on our trip South from the Palo Alto area. I had read the reviews of the Montecito Inn and we were prepared for some of the somewhat negative reviews which I believe helped improve the enjoyment of our stay. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again, as well as recommend it. The hotel is very charming, […] with character and style. yes it is older, however, we loved that. The staff was welcoming and attentive. We checked in at 9:00 pm and one would never know that it was late in the evening as all staff were energetic and wonderful. We love charming Montecito and had a lovely late dinner at Lucky's next door. We were prepared for the room to be a little warm, although the ceiling fan worked very well to cool things off. We also kept our window open for ventiliation, in spite of some freeway noise that dimmed throughout the night, so we were able to sleep just fine. In the morning we walked a few blocks to the ocean and beach. Complimentary continental breakfast and 24 hour coffee and tea were also offered. There is also a small nice pool and work out area. On our next visit we will probably splurge a bit more and book a front facing room with double windows. We look forward to returning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Old Hollywood Glamour"
This was a great hotel to stay at, I spent my honeymoon here. I grew up in Santa Barbara/ Montecito area and this was as good as going home. This hotel has a wonderful rich golden age of hollywood history and has preserved it beautifully. the pool area is a dream and I swear if you listen close enough you can hear the stars of yesteryear like Humphrey […] Bogart calling from the window of bathroom upstairs to Betty BacalI. I have seen some complaints about the hotels perserving it's history e.g. the "old style elevator" and the ceiling fans, any tacky people that have to have the latest modern conveniences shouldn't even visit this hotel much less this city because they just don't get it and they probably never will!
