Just got back from honeymooning at the Kauai Marriott Resort - it was AWESOME! The hotel is nice and clean, great staff, GREAT pool. It was never too crowded to find a lounge chair by the pool - not too many young kids, wonderful pool/beach chairs and towels. Location of the hotel is awesome too - right between the awesome beaches and towns on the south […] shore and the fun activities and beaches on the east and north shores. This Mariott Beach and Resort was a great place to stay. The pool is huge and beautiful with the beach right next to it. The resort is pretty big, but it didn't seem like there was a lot of people there when we were there (Sept). One thing to note is that the parking fee is included in with the resort fee. The best place to stay in Kauai for a worry free holiday. The atmosphere is low key, and the proximity of the pool to the beach just can't be beat. Many rooms have gorgeous views and the staff is pleasant but not intrusive. The location just south of the airport might make you concerned about noise from air traffic but it's amazingly quiet. The only […] air traffic you hear is the helicopter tour helos that fly over the hotel on their way south. The location is also great for reaching other parts of the island. It's a short drive south to Poipu, though a longer (but enjoyable) drive to the North Shore (Princeville) and really not that far to the West Side. The beach is usually uncrowded and always clean. Great location if you plan to drive around the island and sight see. There is a direct entrance to the resort from Lihue airport and a complimentary airport shuttle runs frequently. Grounds were beautifully maintained. Pool is large and there are multiple hot tubs so you have personal space. I was pretty pleased with overall experience with this hotel, except for the followings. I booked a "standard" room initially. The room was facing the rear of hotel with constant background motor running noise of some sort, no balcony, and quite small. Also, the part of bathroom that contained toilet was so small that I could not close the bathroom […] door without the door bumping into my legs. After spending a night, we decided to upgrade to the partial ocean view, which made our vacation experience so much more pleasant. Overall, the rooms are pretty clean with modern furnitures/decor. The pool is magnificent (heated water that you can comfortably swim in the evening) with about 5 hot zacuzzi pools. There is a separate swimming pool for little kids with a mini water slide. We had a great time for a seven night stay with four teenagers. The difference here that was apparent as soon as we arrived, was the friendliest and helpfulness of the hotel staff. The food and beverage staff especially was so nice and would ask us everyday how we were doing, took interest in and asked about our family every day, and gave us great tips […] and suggestions on what, and how to do things most effectively and efficiently on the island. We are a retired couple, first trip to Kauai and wanted to experience various areas of the island. The hotel is located in a bay on east side (not a full-on ocean view, but nice!) and neutral to all areas of island - north, south, east, west. We LOVED the huge swimming pool and it never felt crowded even with the many children....and it provided plenty of lounge chairs! The hotel has a neatly manicured grass area with palm trees and lounge chairs in front of the beach. PERFECT for enjoying the amenities of the beach without actually being in the sand!! Food/drinks on property pricey, but to be expected in Hawaii. There are grocery stores nearby to bring in food/drinks for your room since there is a small refrigerator provided. If there was a downside, we didn't feel town of Lihue offered many restaurants but we found a short drive to beach towns five miles north or south filled our need. There is absolutely no staff available to answer any questions. Hotel needs an activity director to inform guest on things happening at the hotel . There is no Hawaiin themed ambiance or music playing to give you that Hawaiin feel.

A killer pool. Actually it is so desirable they require you get an armband to be allowed in. The hotel is beautiful. The architecture leaves you wanting more if you are very particular; however, most will feel one is in paradise. The sushi restaurant is top notch, so don't bother driving into town, as is Duke's Restaurant. People who stay at other hotels […] and locals actually come to eat at Duke's. And on top of it all no entre with salad bar included is more than $30. The drinks are very reasonable too. The only surprise was an additional $25/day "resort fee" due at booking that covered parking, WIFI, and two "free" Mai Tai's. A recommended stay. Looking forward to staying there again. Read more

The front desk is courteous and responds to our call (AC not working) promptly. The room has a spectacular view. However the daily housekeeping service is not AWFUL. Cookstop, microwave, floors are not cleaned. There are visible food crumbs on cookstop and in the microwave that are left there until WE cleaned it ourselves. They don't even tidy up the […] family room. Pillows are left all over on the floor. They did not pick up the pillows and place them back on sofa. We even did our dishes everyday and did not leave any dishes in the sink at all. It was very disappointing especially this room is part of the Ritz-Carlton vacation destination club. I have enjoyed staying at this hotel on several occasions. The recent renovations have refreshed everything, keeping the elegant structure looking and feeling new. I ate at the restaurant, but the food is over priced and merely so-so for the most part. The snack shop by the pool serves tasty sandwiches and fresh vegetables for lunch, and it has a small-but-nice […] selection of draft beers. I sometimes wonder how so many large koi can thrive in the koi pond, which is actually a fairly extensive "lazy river" that meanders in the central area of the property. Juvenile guests love feeding the koi almost as much as the adult guests enjoy watching the fish swarm during feeding time! The hotel staff is clearly well-trained. The rooms are simply hotel rooms, but the bathrooms are fairly spacious and the television in my room had good picture quality. The bedding is absolutely wonderful, silky soft, and cozy. If this is your first time on Kauai, you should definitely try to stay here. We booked our ocean view room on Expedia and it was not only reasonably priced but came with some of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen in my life. Everything on the resort is just beautifully crafted and the vibe is so positive and relaxed. That said, if this is *not* […] your first time on Kauai or if you are looking to spend more of your time outside of the room than in, then there are definitely cheaper alternatives out there. The memories we made there are truly once-in-a-lifetime and completely unforgettable. Our only regret when we left was that we couldn't stay longer. Oh, and the check-in was a little bit of a hassle. The 'Elite' side was not clearly marked and while the check-in lines get a bit congested, the Elite side is rarely serving more than one person. And we, being of the lowly 'regular' class of people were asked by a rather bristly patron to move to the back of the storage class line with the rest of the untouchables. The only thing designating this as the 'Elite' line was a rather inconspicuous mat. I get it, you want your Elite customers to feel appreciated but in practice it just makes you look wildly inefficient having one line five or six groups deep and another line practically empty. Oh! One last thing! DO be nice to the island kittens that live near Kahili tower. They're total sweethearts We will miss them almost as much as the island itself. Read more
