This hotel was listed as a 4 star hotel on this site. The hotel rooms: furniture, carpeting are worn out and run down. We were first given a worn out room with a kitchen. We asked to be changed to a room without a kitchen. The desk clerk was very helpful and gave us a new room without question. We were then given a "non-smoking" room which obviously […] had had smokers at some point. We could smell the cigarette smoke as soon as we entered. The carpet was worn and dirty. We were offered another room, but we were concerned that it may be worse and it was late and we were tired. We went into the bathroom. There was a dirty q tip on the floor under the sink and the sink had obviously not been cleaned. We called the front desk again. The man was very pleasant and offered us free parking or breakfast. The next morning we found a note of apology under our door and a free membership to the King Edward Club for the time we were there. While the staff and service was excellent, we would never stay at the King Edward again. It is too bad that this hotel has not been renovated and that there is little quality control-- it certainly has potential. Read more

I am an interior designer. I was visiting a client . Style and the latest and the greatest is my field. My young client lives in the Rosedale section and mentioned the new Four Seasons - very close to her home. We had dinner there at the new Daniel Boulod. The Four Seasons decor is very "today" and has fine materials and style. There is no large lobby […] area.The King Edward is more of an Old Guard Hotel with a beautifu lobby, not "brandy" new, but wonderful. The staff is superbly trained. We were upgraded to a large executive suite. The wake-up call was right on time. I had a linen cloth breakfast, beautifully served and they obliged me by getting me in and out in 20 minutes. Room was impeccably clean, comfortable, quiet, elegant. Bathroom was perfectly renovated like a luxurious spa. Excellent quality toiletries. iPod docking station was nice to be able to personalize the atmosphere with our own music. Staff were friendly and helpful.

My fiance and I went to Toronto to see a concert at the Molson Amphitheater and decided to make a weekend out of it. Upon leaving, I thought my stay at this hotel had been fantastic. Everyone on the staff we had encountered had been VERY friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is in a great location […] and right on several different transit lines to help you get anywhere in the city. But, when I got home, I found two additional charges on my credit card, totaling almost $100. We paid for our parking separately, didn't eat or drink anything in the room, didn't damage or destroy anything, and we didn't have guests. When I called to inquire about the charges, I was sent to a voicemail system that promised to call back in 48 hours. This is unacceptable and unexpected from what I thought was such a nice hotel! My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the King Edward's. Our room was very spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! The location of the King Edward is perfect for many restaurants. All within walking distance too. We look forward to visiting Toronto and staying at the King Edward again!

When I made the reservation on Expedia, it gave me the option for slightly more money to upgrade to a junior suite. Well, that was most certainly worth the extra dollars! Otherwise, the bed was very comfortable, the sofa and chairs in the sitting room were great and the a/c could bring the room temperature down to freezing in moments. The bathroom was gigantic, and if you like high pressure showers, this room is for you. The continental buffet breakfast in the Royal Club Lounge that came with this booking was fine. The Fairmont Clubs do give you a wider variety of choices but that shouldn't take anything away from the King Edward. Read more

Very surprised as I've stayed here in years past. My room was not very clean and really dark. On my 2nd night I found the ceiling over the shower was leaking black water (I assume from the A/C?) so called the front desk to ask for another room to shower in. Within 30 min they found me a clean room to shower in but made no effort to apologize or provide […] good customer relations effort (comping my breakfast would have been a nice gesture). My wife and I had a great time at this hotel however our bathroom was the only complaint we had. It was tiny and we both could not fit in it together to get ready to go out. Also, the lights took forever to warm up and get bright enough to see...good thing we weren't in a hurry. The hotel was originally built in the late 1800's and update in the '20s. I don't think it's had much work done since then. That said, the overall design is ornate and opulent.
