"Great for business"
Tremendous well maintained old hotel, large beautiful lobby, nice large upgraded hotel rooms, comfortable beds, and free internet... great access via walking to hocky games and baseball gamesGenuine Expedia guest review
"A fine Business Travel Option"
A fine place to visit. Wifi options availble to buy for multiple days, which is very nice. Desk is large enough to work on. Room is not huge more than reasonable. Feels like an older (not classic, just older) European hotel. The lobby is nice, and it's close the subway and many businesses. Overall, very reasonable. Wish it had a gym, though.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A grand hotel"
The staff is for the most part excellent. Evening concierge was unable or unwilling to provide details on local restaurants, everyone else was welcoming and helpful. This is a grand hotel with a great history and location. The bar/lounge is one of the more popular spots in Toronto with good drinks, food, and service.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Omni King Edward Hotel Thank you for posting this review. Although I was pleased to read that your overall experience with the hotel was positive, I am sorry that our Concierge was unable to provide any information about the local restaurants. Feedback has been shared with the department manager to ensure the consistent delivery of exceptional service to our guests. We look forward to welcoming you back. Sincerely, Jeff Waters General Manager
"A room with no view"
We got a "back room" with a view of a wall...not an ideal room choice. Is this the sort of room generally reserved for Hotels.com discount rated rooms? If so, that is a problem...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
they dont have cnbc-i was there on biz and that was surprising-hotel is out dated -no full length mirror in room-rooms were large thoughGenuine Expedia guest review

"wonderful staff but hotel is run down"
This hotel was listed as a 4 star hotel on this site. The hotel rooms: furniture, carpeting are worn out and run down. We were first given a worn out room with a kitchen. We asked to be changed to a room without a kitchen. The desk clerk was very helpful and gave us a new room without question. We were then given a "non-smoking" room which obviously […] had had smokers at some point. We could smell the cigarette smoke as soon as we entered. The carpet was worn and dirty. We were offered another room, but we were concerned that it may be worse and it was late and we were tired. We went into the bathroom. There was a dirty q tip on the floor under the sink and the sink had obviously not been cleaned. We called the front desk again. The man was very pleasant and offered us free parking or breakfast. The next morning we found a note of apology under our door and a free membership to the King Edward Club for the time we were there. While the staff and service was excellent, we would never stay at the King Edward again. It is too bad that this hotel has not been renovated and that there is little quality control-- it certainly has potential. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The New and the Grand Old."
I am an interior designer. I was visiting a client . Style and the latest and the greatest is my field. My young client lives in the Rosedale section and mentioned the new Four Seasons - very close to her home. We had dinner there at the new Daniel Boulod. The Four Seasons decor is very "today" and has fine materials and style. There is no large lobby […] area. The King Edward is more of an Old Guard Hotel with a beautifu lobby, not "brandy" new, but wonderful. The staff is superbly trained. We were upgraded to a large executive suite. The wake-up call was right on time. I had a linen cloth breakfast, beautifully served and they obliged me by getting me in and out in 20 minutes. My husband dined later, relaxed at his table and had the same quality experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Charmed then charged"
My fiance and I went to Toronto to see a concert at the Molson Amphitheater and decided to make a weekend out of it. Upon leaving, I thought my stay at this hotel had been fantastic. Everyone on the staff we had encountered had been VERY friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. The hotel is in a great location […] and right on several different transit lines to help you get anywhere in the city. But, when I got home, I found two additional charges on my credit card, totaling almost $100. We paid for our parking separately, didn't eat or drink anything in the room, didn't damage or destroy anything, and we didn't have guests. When I called to inquire about the charges, I was sent to a voicemail system that promised to call back in 48 hours. This is unacceptable and unexpected from what I thought was such a nice hotel! My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the King Edward's. Our room was very spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! "A grand old luxury hotel that's worth the money."
When I made the reservation on Expedia, it gave me the option for slightly more money to upgrade to a junior suite. Well, that was most certainly worth the extra dollars! My wife walked in and she said it looks bigger than her sister's apartment!! The King Edward was wonderful- about the only this missing in the room was a coffee maker. That would […] have been nice. Otherwise, the bed was very comfortable, the sofa and chairs in the sitting room were great and the a/c could bring the room temperature down to freezing in moments. The bathroom was gigantic, and if you like high pressure showers, this room is for you. The continental buffet breakfast in the Royal Club Lounge that came with this booking was fine. The Fairmont Clubs do give you a wider variety of choices but that shouldn't take anything away from the King Edward. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Staff was very attentive and professional, especially concierge and doorman.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very surprised as I've stayed here in years past. My room was not very clean and really dark. On my 2nd night I found the ceiling over the shower was leaking black water (I assume from the A/C?) so called the front desk to ask for another room to shower in. Within 30 min they found me a clean room to shower in but made no effort to apologize or provide […] good customer relations effort (comping my breakfast would have been a nice gesture). Upon checking out I told the front desk about the shower and less-than-clean room and he laughed and agreed that yes, they are having problems. Again, no customer service effort. "Nice but dated"
This hotel offers a great location and high quality service from the staff (typical Starwood :-). That said, it's getting very dated and even had a slightly _off_ smell in the public spaces (almost a musty smell). Granted I'm a bit sensitive to sights and smells, but it was enough to make me hold off from rating them a bit higher on my overall experience. "Great Hotel and Location in Toronto"
The hotel and hotel staff were exceptional, especially for the price. It was the price of a 3 star hotel, but the service of a 5. The location is perfect. Parking and restaurant prices exorberant, but given the room price, still worth it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Really, no Wi-Fi? In 2012?"
Beautiful hotel but no Wi-Fi. For someone travelling internationally for work that makes it impossible to stay here. Lost one star in the review and not recommended for this reason only.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would definitely go back"
Before visiting I read some of the reviews about the lack of updated furniture. I personally did not see anything wrong with the furniture in the room. It's a 100 year old hotel and it was beautiful. They even had an iPod dock/alarm clock. My only complaint is that you needed to pay for internet in the room which was a bit annoying. However, if need […] be you could always use the free wifi in the lobby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel was centrally located in the financial district . I went to Toronto to do some Christmas shopping at the Eatons Ctr and it was very close to the hotel. Hotel needs a reno. But excellent stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I had a great time at this hotel however our bathroom was the only complaint we had. It was tiny and we both could not fit in it together to get ready to go out. Also, the lights took forever to warm up and get bright enough to see...good thing we weren't in a hurry. Also, we had 3 drinks in the hotel lobby bar which were rediculously priced! […] In saying that, the room was nice, bed comfortable and great location to get around downtown Toronto. We'll go back...just ask for a different room hopefully with a bigger bathroom and hit one of the local establishments for cocktails. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK hotel, but it's obviously seen better days"
The hotel was originally built in the late 1800's and update in the '20s. I don't think it's had much work done since then. That said, the overall design is ornate and opulent. Hotel front desk was an issue both times I interacted with them. Long wait to check in, even though there was only two people ahead of me. The clerk tried to give me a lower […] standard room than what my company paid for, and when I complained she acquiesced and gave me the King bed (instead of a queen Murphy bed) that was purchased. Room was large and expansive, but same upkeep (or lack thereof) as the downstairs. When I tried to check-in to my flight online, the front desk didn't mention that the printer didn't work! I'd probably stay there again because it's close to the office I support, but not for any other reason. There are too many other hotels in downtown Toronto to not check them out. the room cld have been a little bigger, the tv wasnt well placed in the room ....internet should be free in the rooms we are in 2011 ! but over all the room was clean and i really enjoyed my stay not much complaints...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I recommend staying here for a wedding, a big reunion or some other event where you're willing to drop some coin. As most elitist 4-star hotels, they haven't figured out that normal travelers actually like free breakfast, free wifi and the amenities that you're now seeing in most 3-stars. I like the King Edward for it's location, but for the money I […] will stay elsewhere. It's not a bad hotel, but i'm just not into the Victorian looking decor. I like somewhere more hip-modern. I think it's a nice hotel, the staff is very on point and friendly. I was shocked that there were no ice machines on the floor, but whenever I called for ice, it literally was there in under 5 min from the time i hung up the phone. I got great check-in service from a young lady named Toya and the concierge gave nice tips on places to check out in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Would stay here again for sure"
Our experience with the Le Meridien King Edward was excellent. We stayed in a deluxe king room which had 10' ceilings, was spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. All of the room appointments were first rate. The air conditioning unit was almost silent which is a rare pleasure. The closest thing to a downside was that because the room was below […] the 11th floor the view was of the brick building across the alley. "Le Meridien King Edward-Undisclosed Construction"
PROS: Overall we enjoyed our stay. It was a nice hotel that was located in a great location in the Toronto area. We felt safe walking around at different times of the day/evening and it was easily accessible to public transportation. CON: It came as a great surprise to us when we finally arrived to find a notice at the check-in desk announcing ongoing […] construction at the hotel. When questioned, the staff explained that this was long standing and happening near by but wouldn't be of a bother to us. One might argue against this at 7:30 in the morning. Not overly troubling to my stay but I would have liked to have known in advance. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is historically beautiful. Although tired in a few spots, overall still stunning and comfortable and you can't beat the pre-renovation price. My gf & I went to Toronto for our birthday weekend and the hotel was simply perfect. Great location near all kinds of awesome restaurants. Super friendly staff. It was amazing. "Great location and attention to clients"
The Le Meridien King Edward hotel is in the business district, close to train and metro station, accessible to highway and a myriad of restaurants and services. While the lobby of the hotel harkens to an era of grandeur the hotel is remodeling older rooms to provide a more modern look and convenience. I got a good rate on the hotel through hotels.com […] and was treated correctly - offered a lower floor remodeled room without a view per se. The bed was wonderful, the bathroom although recently done had very poor lighting. I stayed for breakfast and was glad I did. I was impressed the waiter who chatted amicably with a family who was visiting the area, exchanging stories on places to visit. I was offered excellent advice for a nearby restaurant by the concierge and directions and general help by the very, very nice bell staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Right on the tram line on King St. Within a 15 minute walk to Eaton Centre shopping, 20 to 25 min. to CN Tour (or a 10 min. tram ride). Nice older hotel with large rooms, lobby with wi-fi. They do charge for internet in the room, and for parking. We'd stay there again if we revisited Toronto.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
