Great room rate, cordial staff. Great restaurant and easy access to London for world business travellers.

The Corus was a good value for the money - especially after walking into some of the other private hotels in the area....the room was clean and spacious by European standards. The towels were a little worn as was the carpet and the upholstered furniture - but the bed had crisp linens and the bath was very clean. With little time spent in the room, I would consider staying there again for the price.

"Nice location, not much else"
The lobby and public areas were very posh -- new marble and carpets, and a doorman in a top hat! But the layout of the hotel was very odd -- we had to navigate a seemingly interminable hallway, passing thru 8 to 10 fire doors to get to our room. The room, as expected in London, was tiny, but what was disappointing was the upkeep. It was clean, but just […] not built, perhaps, to US standards of newness and durability. Bathroom floor tiles were cracked and bent, the TV was small and old, and we could never figure out the air conditioning, if it even existed. I understand they are under renovation, and maybe newly renovated rooms will help. I would stay there again if I had the need, but it was a bit disappointing, considering the price. "Nice hotel, near tube station"
This is a good location, right near tube stop. Renovations going on here but overall nice place. Rooms are decent size but on smaller size but all of London is like this. More expensive hotel I think, have to pay for the extras like gym and spa, etc. Once it is fixed up completely will be a great hotel. "great neighborhood, hotel under construction."
Although this hotel was under some major construction and caused a fire alarm to go off and everyone had to evacuate (even with only a towel on). I still would give it 3.8- 4 stars and would book again d/t the great location. The tube station was only one block away. Also there are a wide variety of stores (coffee shops, starbucks, whole foods, cafes, […] clothing shoe stores, banks, etc..) the service was good enough. "Decent hotel stay"
compared to priced I saw when trying to find a place to stay, I think we got a good hotel for the price we payed, especially since we were out the entire day. The bathroom could use better ventilation. The size of the room was tight, but probably normal for a London hotel at the price range. It was comfortable and clean, with room to stretch. The lobby […] was really nice and had a good buffet breakfast and nice looking spa/gym (we picked this hotel because of the gym and pool, but ended up spending our entire time out in town so never used the facilities). Just off a busy street so it's quiet but close to restaurants, cafes, underground and bus stops. There's even a Whole Foods nearby if you want to buy snacks from a grocery store to save money on restaurants. I wouldn't call it a destination hotel, but if your intent is to be out in town exploring London, then this hotel is just fine. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a "Do-Again""
Hotels.com really blew it this time. This hotel was under major construction and the parking area was also closed for repair. This meant $50 a day for parking in addition to the hotel costs. The entire place was being painted, our air conditioning did not work, and the room was the smallest that I have ever stayed in anywhere. High cost, bad rooms, […] and hotels.com did nothing to let me know. I give them both a "POOR". Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Glad I Booked"
I stayed in a single room at this hotel, and though it was smaller than perhaps what I am used to in the US, the room was plenty big for what I needed to do. It had a bed, a chair with table, a desk, a wardrobe, and a suitcase holder. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location is as good as it gets-- very close to the tube stop, right […] around the corner from the high street, but still far enough away from all the noise. I definitely recommend this place for anyone needing a safe, clean, very convenient place to stay while visiting London! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Worst so-called four-star hotel."
Major swaths of the Hotel, including the wing in which my room was located were undergoing major renovations. Workers could be heard drilling, hammering and talking in the early morning causing great disruption to all hotel gues. The elevator bank nearest my room was shut down which required me to carry heavy baggage for several hundred feet to the […] nearest working elevator. The room was very small and rather drab. This ranks as the worst so-called four-star hotel I have ever stayed in. The photos are rather misleading. The only redeeming quality was the professionalism of the reception and other desk staff, who did not wince under the withering abuse they received from other dissatisfied and disgusted hotel guests. "Good location, tiny rooms"
Extremely small rooms and beds, but clean. Hotel still undergoing some construction and very old hallways (hotel entry/bar is nice and new, hallways not so much). Very convenient to subway & easy to get around.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to subway"
The room has not been updated at all and was in poor condition. Also, they were updating the hallways during my stay and I was not made aware of this at the time of booking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Still a work in progress"
I suspected that renovations would still be progress, which was fine, we weren't going to be around in the day, but our room still had a number of problems. The phone didn't work (they fixed that immediately), and the tub backed up (they fixed that the 2nd day), and the shower curtain wasn't large enough for the tub which meant it was impossible to […] take a shower without getting water all over the floor. The Internet wireless worked for web access, but not for email (from iPad, iPhone, etc.). They were aware of that problem, but it didn't get fixed while we were there. To their credit, the things they could fix they did fix quickly and other than the above, the condition of the room was good. The location is great, with lots of resturants nearby and near several of the major museums. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 4 star hotel"
Concierge charges 1 GBP per bag to hold them after checkout. After gettting my bag I asked whether they can order a cab for me. The guy told me to just get a cab outside the hotel. The free wifi was slow and unstable. You will need a new access code every 12 hours. The bathroom has a bathtub and shower but the thermostat for the shower wasn't working […] properly. The toilet was located at a narrow corner and may be a problem to fit some people. I will never use this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel for the price"
For the price, it was a great hotel. * The tube (subway) was a block away. * Plenty of nearby shopping. * Great staff * Small room, but that is why the price is lower. * Restaurant (I didn't try it) * in room tea and coffee service I will stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great location for this budget hotel"
We got a great rate for this hotel which is located in the posh Kensington area of London. We knew they were doing renovations at the hotel for the Olympic season which started promptly at 8am (hey at least it was a trust worthy wake up service...). The toilet still had feces in it when we checked in which made us believe they don't really clean daily […] or it would have been seen/noticed. Other than this the stay was worth the cost. "Great location, basic room."
I booked this coupled with a flight. It was a good deal price wise. The room was a bit musty. They are remodeling and I was in a room not yet remodeled (thus the good price). The bed was acceptable, but a small twin and I am tall. No refrigerator. I bought milk and a soda at the store and sat it on the window sill. Great location. The drinks in the […] bar are weak and overpriced, comparing to other spots I went during my trip. Charged for the paper (which didn't come every day) and to leave my bag with the bellhop for 4 hours the day I left. As I said, good value for what I paid, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. "Definitely Disappointing."
The first impression one has upon entering this hotel is that it's upscale. I think I was scheduled for one of their least expensive rooms, but that truly shouldn't impact the quality as much as it did. There was hair in the bathroom, the bed was wobbly, the walls were paper thin (I could hear my neighbor stirring tea very clearly, every footfall on […] the stairs could be felt and heard, and the housekeeping kept opening and loudly shutting a cupboard door right next to my room incessantly in the mornings before 8am). Their internet is infuriatingly slow, which impacted my ability to do work. The only redeeming factors were that the hotel staff are very professional and the location is pretty great. "Very good loction. Close to Underground Station"
The location of this hotel is excellent. The lobby and bar area is very nice, but our room was quite small and was in need of refurbishment. There were workers making improvements but didn't see what they were actually doing, just heard a lot of constgruction sounds such as pounding, jack hammers etc. We were not able to use our pre-paid phone card […] and the hotel wanted to charge by the minute as well as a hook up fee. "Kensington Clos - A bargain"
The hotel is undergoing renovations in anticipation of the Olympics. The rooms are small, probably to pack more people in for the Games. The carpet in the hallways could use replacement. For the price I paid, it was a good deal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid until construction done."
This hotel has potential, but until their remodel is done I would avoid. Since construction is going on 8am-5pm, we were given free WiFi, which is nice but you really are in a construction zone. Protective plastic in the hallways, furniture being assembled in the lobby, construction workers everywhere, etc... We had to change rooms the first night because […] the water for all the toilets had been shut off. In our next room the TV didn't work and we asked to see about it being fixed while we we're at dinner. Came back 3 hours later to find they hadn't even checked on it. When maintainance did come, he tried to fix and couldn't. Told us we could change rooms. Since it was 11pm we didn't. Next morning at checkout I mentioned that the TV wasn't fixed, only to find out that they had disruptived service everywhere in the hotel, so changing rooms wouldn't have helped anyway (glad we didn't make the move for nothing). Apparently desk staff knew no one could get TV, but just kept sending the poor maintainance man around to work on a problem he couldn't fix, just to make it seem like they were trying. That morning while we were checking out, alot of people were complaining. We were still charged to hold our luggage too, even after all the problems we encountered Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Kensington Close Hotel-you get what you pay for"
Hotel is in great area, right off Kensington High street, full of fun shops and cafes/restaurants. "in the words of Monty Python "Run away, run away""
No, no, no, no, no. Do not do it. I read the reviews, went anyway, and regretted it. This hotel is a disaster. The construction, the marginal staff etc it is not worth the discounted price. First of all, they are rushing through a construction job. My room still had tape where they had painted on the appliances. The bathroom is ill-configured. Who has […] heard of a shower stall that has doors and does not shut--water everywhere!!??. Friday night a went to the bar and had the rudest service from the bartender who was in such a hurry to leave that she was just plain NASTY I mean really mean. Sunday morning I was woken up by drilling, hammering, on the wall next to me head. Then I got the bill--they charged me 15 pounds (over 20 bucks) for a breakfast the told me was free. If I had known it cost me that I would have NEVER eaten there. This hotel is NOT WORTH IT. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The price was right. The hotel is currently under going renovation. The clerk was upfront and state dthat construction was between 8am and 5pm. Those hours suited me as I was there for business. "Bedrooms are painfully small!!!"
- Bedrooms are so small you cant actually walk around bed properly. one night, I slammed my knee off the bathroom door at the end of the bed. its a sliding door! And I dangerously nearly fell over my luggage as its in the middle of the room. no were else to put. - staff in bar are painfully slow and talk in there own foreign language. - £13 pound for […] breakfast???? lovely muffin man breakfast place up the road. yummy. -renovation works start at eight but not so bad at weekends, - clean hotel - clean bedroom - nice, slightly dated leisure centre, still nice. - really close to underground stop (kensington high st) - nice neighbourhood SURELY THERE MUST BE BETTER VALUE OUT THERE. "Kensington Close Hotel & Spa - a work in progress"
Very pleased with my time here - single rooms are always small - but very nicely re-done. Hotel under renovation and looks very promising when complete. "Not impressed"
The fact there was no wi fi at various times is not acceptable in a 4star hotel. Drilling is not pleasant in the middle of the afternoon when trying to rest. Maintenance has to be done very discreetly or the hotel should be closed. Also, since the hotel is in the middle of London, England, the english should be perfect on all forms at all times!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Some problems, but great price"
Hotel is being refurbished (for the Olympics?), my room was new and clean, public areas are vast, you can use the swimming pool, great value for very reasonable price. On the minus side, there is noise in the morning due to works in progress, the phone is noisy. Overall, I do recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Go Somewhere Else!!"
I'm not usually a fussy traveler, but there should be some basic level of customer service that you should expect at a 4star hotel. Bring your own shampoo, conditioner and soap. The soap is paper thin and not at all appealing. Bring kleenix, as none is provided. There is NO wifi in the hotel, even if they tell you there is. There are not enough electric […] outlets, so bring an extension cord. And, the WORST thing is, the hotel is undergoing renovations so unless they pay you to come and stay....STAY AWAY. It is NOISY from early in the morning till late at night. None of the hotel staff speak English. Most of them are from Russia and THEY ARE RUDE, even when you are trying hard to be nice. The only thing going on for this hotel, is the hotel next door, or the fact that it is within walking distance, (About 2 blks,) from High Street shopping. I would NEVER recommend it, and will not go back. And this hotel doesn't have a Business Office, so it's not for the business traveler. Stay at the hotel next door.
