"Great location for a quick business trip"
Everything was good - very happy.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was disappointed, frankly. Arriving at 10 p.m. from the USA there was no sign of life in the hotel forecourt so no help available with luggage. The key to the room didn't seem to work (probably my own fault) but when I went down to the lobby there was no sign of any staff member whatsoever. I waited a long time before being seated for breakfast (very […] expensive for what it was); no offer of a newspaper when I checked in, and when I left the table after breakfast all my dirty dishes were stacked in front of me. No offer of a second cup of coffee and no acknowledgement as I left. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in the heart of London"
I've tried many hotels in London over the years, but the Cavendish still offers the best combination of value, service and location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel centrally located in the heart of London's West end, Friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The rooms are nicely furnished, but small."
The breakfast is extremely expensive. Unfortunately there are no nearby alternatives. It is a large and impersonal hotel. The location is great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great experience with very efficient staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very elegant, clean and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful. Location was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The location was perfect."
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The location is just down the street from Piccadilly Circus as well as just a shot walk to the tube. Would stay here again for sure.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Is this really St.James ???"
I had walked past this hotel a few times and it seemed high end and appealing. Simple conclusion after 1 stay is that the building, room, and aesthetics qualities place it slightly above f.ex. Paddington Hilton or similar. The staff was very nice, but also they cannot perform miracles. Cannot believe that such poor aesthetics exist, this must be a turnaround […] project for the right new owner, since the location is approximately the best in London, and views are majestic. "Exceeded high expectations"
We were at the Cavendish for over a week and loved it. The location was exceptional, within walking distance of Picadilly Circus, Green Park, even Trafalgar Square. Easy access to underground and buses. Fortnum & Mason across the street for cream tea, Hatchard's book shop just around the corner. Lots of restaurants of all price ranges, plus grocery […] store and drug stores so anything you need is easily available. Hotel room had mini-fridge and water heater so one could eat breakfast in the room before heading out for the day. Lovely deep bathtub/shower and lots of amenities for NO additional cost. Very helpful staff. Loved our stay. Would stay again and recommend to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel in a Great Location!"
Location! Location! Location! This hotel is great and is walking distance to most of London's attractions! The Classic Room that I had was a bit small but is elegant, chic, cozy and clean! I would go back to this hotel when I come and visit London again with my kids!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Outstanding London Location"
Not knowing London, I just chose this hotel. It is tucked in on Jermyn Street one block off Piccadilly Circus. The lobby seems small but walk in a few steps and a beautiful marble reception area leads to a lounge then one more floor up is the restaurant. Classic Room was usual European city size. Tastefully decorated, comfortable bed and linens. Bathroom […] has room with space on the counter for items. Quality bath linens and soaps. Large desk area and good sized TV, accessible plugs. Restaurant food was excellent and hotel reasonably priced. Tesco Metro, Paxton&Whitfield Cheese, Rawleys and F&M are 1-2 blks away. Use Jermyn to avoid the Piccadilly crowds. We had an easy walk to the shows on the West End. The concierge, Mo, knew London and gave easy to follow directions. ALL the staff were superb in every encounter we had. The Tube had stops within two blocks east and west of the hotel with bus stops 1-4 blocks away. To our surprise Trafalgar Square was maybe 10-15 minutes walking. Would not consider staying anywhere else in London. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful Hotel in a Wonderful Location"
Stayed in a queen superior room for our honeymoon. The hotel really contributed to how much we loved our trip: The room was spacious, the bathroom was remodeled with a high-pressure shower, full tub, and modern fixtures, and the cleaning staff kept the place spotless. The hotel was located within a few minute walk of both Green and Piccadilly tube stops […] and has many restaurants and shops nearby. I really can't recommend it enough: we'll definitely be back! "Nice, friendly hotel in a prime location"
The central location, yet on a quiet street, was ideal. It is an older hotel with fairly small rooms, but the staff is friendly and attentive. The GBP22.50 plus 20%VAT for breakfast was too high. The hotel also nickel and dimed for other services. The guests were 80% tourists, albeit better-off tourists. This hotel is the perfect balance--ideal location, […] great service, but with little stuffiness or pretension. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Professional pleasant staff. Located in center of London only 10 minute walk from Piccadilly Circus. Very convenient to everything. Near Tesco Supermarket and wonderful restaurants. Rooms small compared to American standard but well appointed and comfortable. Made us feel special on our anniversary. Room service excellent. Great concierge. All around, […] highly recommended. Super location for all the major sights. Easy access to tube. Room a little small. Wonderful service. Helpful and knowledgeable concierge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was clean, well maintained, and in a great location, located close to many London attractions. The staff was also very helpful and courteous. I'd definitely recommend a stay here!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is a great choice if you want an affordable option in Central London. We had two separate stays of 2 and 3 nights. The first standard double room we had was on the 6th floor. The room was very small and had a limited view. The other standard double room we had was on the 12th floor. It was larger and had a great view but we didn't like the […] fact it had a connecting door to the room next door. We could hear the folks next door. Both rooms were beautifully decorated, extremely clean and very comfortable. The water pressure in the shower could have been better, especially in the first room. "Great hotel in a fantastic location"
Fantastic location, nicely furnished rooms. Would highly recommend to all. Close to Green Park and Picadilly tube stations...which are very convenient to rest of london and beyond. Lots of coffee shops near by for breakfast -- try Pauls (so yummy).Genuine Expedia guest review

I liked the hotel very much, the only drawback was the size of the room, rather small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in central London"
This is a great hotel in the center of London. It is located on a quiet street and the air conditioning system is also pretty quiet. We never heard any sound from the adjacent rooms. The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly. They offer free English breakfast: there is good buffet and you can also order various things from a small menu […] free of charge. The wireless Internet is free in the restaurant; they tell you the code at breakfast and you can then get online with the same code in your room, so you don't need to pay for it. The hotel location is great. It is between Green Park and Piccadilly tube stations on the Piccadilly line, which is the line that goes to Heathrow. It only takes a few minutes to get to either station. Basically, it's within walking distance of nearly all the places you will want to visit and see. The only downside is the size of the room: it's pretty small. However, it's also reasonably priced and you'll likely only come there to sleep at night, so it's not really an issue. I would happily stay at this hotel again and certainly recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Thanks for the B'day cake and stay"
The hotel was clean, friendly and very convenient for what my son and I wanted to do for his birthday while in London. The staff was very helpful in giving reviews of places we wanted to visit. (Richard/Concierge). My son arrived very late. Receptionist (Kat) left a note for my son to receive a key and also made a special note that it was his birthday […] the next day. The hotel sent a very nice chocolate cake. It made his day. Bellhop (Fabio) was very helpful with directions and helping me organize a ride to my onward destination in England. Overall, I stay was fantastic. The hotel was convenient to Underground and walking. The room was comfortable, clean and had very good internet reception. Top marks overall. "Great location and service. Uncomfortable bed"
I was visiting London on business. The cavendish proved to be convenient due to its location in close proximity to the Tube as well as a range of restaraunts that are open late. The staff were welcoming and very cooperative. My only gripe with the hotel was comfort. I have been in hotels all over the world and I tend to like soft beds. The Cavendishs […] bed was unacceptably soft so soft that if u slept on the edge u tend to fall off. Even after asking for a wooden plank to be placed under the bed it was still uncomfortable. "Excellent hotel with great staff"
The Cavendish is well located and very comfortable. The kitchen is excellent. It's worth buying breakfast in advance if you are a breakfast person, as the menu and ingredients are high quality. "Fabulous hotel, great rates"
The Cavendish turned out to be an almost perfect hotel experience at a very reasonable rate. The location (right off Picadilly Circus, across from Fortnum and Mason) could not have been bettered and was ideal when some public transportation was not available over the Christmas holidays. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, offering advice and […] promprt service even when booking extras not offered or even in competition with those of the hotel. The restaurant food was delicious. The hotel itself has been recently updated, and the rooms were extremely comfortable -- my only (minor) complaint was the size of the closets. We will definitely return to the Cavendish on our next visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful Hotel in Perfect Location"
Beautiful hotel in the perfect location. Close to Piccadilly Circus, the parks, the tube and plenty of places to eat. "Walking Distance to Attractions and Restaurants"
Westminster area. Within walking distance to Picadilly, Leicester Square (restaurants, casinos, movies) Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. Fabulous service. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, upgrading recommended if staying 4 or more nights. Very clean. Bathrooms large. Will return for business or leisure travel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice but not for me."
Very nice hotel. Clean, friendly and helpful staff with a very good location. My disappointment was the late check-in especially for international arrivals which are usually there early. We arrived at appx 1100 am and were still made to wait until 3pm for a room. We spent the entire time hanging out in the lobby because we were too tired to travel anywhere […] at that point so our first day was a total waste of time ( we were only staying 4 nights). There is also no refrigerator in the room (just a mini bar) and the bathroom has no counter space. It is a nice hotel but personally I would not stay there again. "Shocked beyond belief!"
I was expecting a nice "4 Star" Hotel, but we got was, in my opinion a 5 1/2 star hotel! I don't know what else anyone could ask for to keep it from having a 5 star rating! There is an in-room expresso maker with different types of coffee, a HUGE tub in the extravagantly appointed bathroom (complete with 2 luxurious robes AND slippers, a bose surround […] sound ipod dock with remote control and a fantastically comfortable king-sized bed with wonderfully soft lines, pillows and comfortors. I couldn't think of anythig else I would have needed that wasn't already in the room. The hotel staff were friendly & professional - 2 concierge staff at the desk who were able to connect us to the tours we wanted, complete with maps and personal directions and recommendations for theater & dinner! I booked at the Cavendish because it looked nice on Hotels.com, but I will INTENTIONALLY book again! Great place, close to everthing you may want to see in London! "Pleasant hotel, good value."
Very functional hotel that is well located. Employees are polite, rooms are clean. This is not a 5 star hotel in appearance but for the value and location it performs very well.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Classy Quiet Hotel"
The room was very modern and clean. The shower was good and the hair dryer way above par for Europe. I accidentally left a diamond ring by the sink one day and it was just where I left it when I returned. The TV was a little temperamental (though very nice) and I wished the wifi was free, but everything else was highly satisfactory.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location, perfect stay"
Great experience. I contacted the front desk after landing at LHR (night flight from NY) and by the time I got there a room was ready (10:30am) for me to use and change for my business lunch. Located on the southern side of Mayfairand 5 min. walk from Picadilly Circus it was perfect for walking to the tube or to the bars and clubs I went to. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon 31 years ago and then again the past 3 yrs. for a day or two. We like it much better than 31 yrs. ago because it's much more comfortable and hip! "A renovated, green hotel with some quirks"
This is by and large a decent hotel with recently renovated contemporary aesthetic and affordable rates. The rooms are quite small with not much of a view, particularly the ones you will find for a 'deal' on Expedia. But it's an urban hotel so that's usually what you get. The location is pretty ideal if you want to visit a lot of neighborhoods in London. I […] do have a couple cautionary tales for anyone considering the Cavendish: 1. Water pressure is poor, so if you just love a great powerful shower you'll be disappointed. This is part of their green initiative, which also includes turning lights off in hallways when not used. It takes a few seconds to come on, so when you exit the elevator or your room you'll be in the dark for a few seconds before the lights flicker on. 2. You cannot really log on to their wifi system from an iPhone or iPad. The flash popups they use to get online simply don't show up on apple devices. That said, I was able to access a couple websites from my iPhone without logging in, but not my email or facebook. There is a Starbucks a block away though that has excellent internet access for free. 3. Their “airport transfer service” is really just them calling you a cab. 4. Absolutely positively DO NOT get the breakfast package. It’s literally the worst thing I ate in London and the staff is literally dying to get you out of there. 5. Their electrical system is not ‘universal’ but they will loan you an outlet adapter for a deposit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
