We stayed in the hotel when visiting relatives nearby, so the real draw of the hotel for us was its location. That said, if it was dreadful we wouldn't stay there. The place is a lot bigger than you would think, which seems to put reception and the breakfast under some stress at busy times. Breakfast tiem can be a bit of a bun fight. We found some glitches... […] the luggage trollies are too wide to go through the double doors along the corridors (it means you have to open both doors to get through, which is pretty difficult if you're on your own). Sometimes, one of the doors has its lever-locks engaged so you have to sort that out in order to get luggage through. There is no lift, so too bad if you have luggage and are assigned an upstairs room. The rooms are pleasant enough but the double beds are a little small in our opinion. But the facilities are good: bar food is tasty and nicely presented; the leisure centre is excellent; there is plenty of space with tables, chairs and sofas around the reception foyer; and there is convenient parking adjacent to the entrance with ample overspill parking. The proximity to Cambridge city centre is a plus - it's about 10 minutes in the car to get in, and it's very convenient for the Cambridge Science Park. We'd stay there again, and would recommend the hotel to friends if they were looking for a moderately good hotel in this location. Read more

There was no lift! The hotel is three floors, but there is no lift! There are several sets of heavy doors that one must push there way through. The staff were very helpful, but this is *not* the place to go if you have anyone in your party that is frail or in a wheel chair.

This hotel has a very convenient location, just on the north side of the A14 north of Cambridge city centre (I didn't want to visit the city centre). I was surprised at how busy the hotel was: it seemed to be popular with groups, conferences or training sessions. It has good amenities - like a sports club and spa - and courtyards, even a small play […] area for children. But, on the downside, I found the reception desk to be slow, and the hotel had poked the wrong bill under my guest room door: the correct name and my room number but the wrong address and the wrong billing details. Then there was the bed: too narrow, and free-standing on rollers so it moved if you tried to sit up and read - very annoying. Lastly, the bar staff seemed to have to deliver any meals ordered in the bar / lounge area; and that meant they had to leave the bar unattended while customers were queuing up for drinks. I had to check out a day earlier. Their policy is to charge for the full rate but than they also wanted to charge me an early cancellation fee of 50 UK pounds. I asked for the manager and demanded to waive the fee. After a longer discussion he agreed to do so. A very beautiful facility! Very clean, comfortable, and quiet. Unfortunately this was offset by several factors: The attitude of the front desk operators was very poor. The surrounding neighborhood was beautiful but not convenient. The bus stop was not easy to find hidden in a neighboring villiage. The meals at the hotel were tripple the price of comparable […] food in town. There were no places to eat that were close to the hotel. There were no washing machines for clothes. The exercise facility was packed with locals with not much room left for for guests. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay and not go out to the town, this is an excellent choice. If you want a place that is conveniently located near Cambridge, this is not a good choice. A car would be a suitable option but parking in town is almost impossible. It is very over priced with regard to its location and convenience. Many students and their families use this facility for grad parties, etc. It is a great place for this purpose and for locals with transportation. Hotel easy to find from main road, & 5-10 minute drive to Cambridge centre; not too hard to get around. Extremely bad service @reception desk for check-in & out. After contacting hotel before arrival to arrange cot & room for young baby; when we arrived the hotel allocated room upstairs -no lift to access upstairs- no good for pram! Also no cot, as […] had been arranged. Room bill had charges applied from someone else without hotel checking name signed on bill for a large amount of money. Fire alarm test sounded @9.30am; ridiculously early for a hotel- woke us up. Rooms a good standard & clean. But as per all hotels of this type the walls are paper-thin & woken by returning guests very late at night. Breakfast is not worth the money. The price goes up if not booked at check-in & extortionate if served in room. Go into Cambridge to find lovely cafes with home cooked breakfasts for half the price. Health suite:- pool is good size & there is jacuzzi, steam room & sauna. However both the changing room & pool area filthy- rubbish all over the floor & loungers from food wrappers. Absolutely disgusting! Hotel does not compare to others in star rating & needs a serious overhaul for service & attitude. We will not stay here again but will go back to Cambridge- very charming & quaint- lovely shopping, site-seeing, good restaurants & punting on the river. Read more

The room was fine - clean, spacious and comfortably furnished, but it was really cold and the air con is pre-set, so made no difference. The room service menu is limited and there is a lot of deep fried, breaded, cheese laden options and not a single option for a steak or a chicken breast for the health conscious. There is no breakfast roon service […] option. The gym does not open until 6.30am. For a hotel that says it caters for the business traveller, the service is very poor at an extortionate room rate. The car park is badly lit and the pavements uneven, so getting your luggage into the hotel is difficult. There is no lift so you have to carry cases up the stairs. Not ideal. Read more

The staff were less than friendly, took ages to check-in. They wanted £14 per day for WiFii and were not too interested in comments that this was extortionate. The shower was not clean and the water pressure very low and warm. This was previously a good hotel but has gone downhill. Very sad.

I enjoyed a lot the day I spent in Cambridge. The hotel is conveniently located close to downtown. The healthcare facilities are excellent. I enjoyed specially the pool. I had dinner at the bar. I travelled to Cambridge by car and the easy car parking at hotel was very convenient.

Book your beauty treatments before arrival as they get booked very quickly, therefore could not have a treatment (I did ring them to book a treatment before departing London but was put on hold by a male member of the spa staff and was forgotten about, and heard all their conversation for 10 mins, the call cost me 10p a minute. Lots of car park space (free). Bus stop to Cambridge centre was 8 minute walk and the Citi 8 bus went straight to the heart of Cambridge (15-20 mins). The staff were helpful - but many of the problems could be avoided with proper management. The rooms lack insulation or soundproofing - you are likely to be very cold here in the winter. Trying to get online was confusing - you get false messages on the screen telling you to get a password from reception, when in fact you don't. I had to get a chair, […] because the armchair in the room wasn't suitable for working at a desk. This seems odd for a so-called business hotel. They tried to charge me for a phone call which I didn't make. Finally, the restaurant looks like bad news. The pasta was overcooked and accompanied by some rotten lamb's lettuce. When I pointed it out, I was told the lettuce was "for decoration". They did then give me a mixed salad for nothing. This is not a place to stay without a car. This hotel is quite adequete but a bit expensive for a basic bed and breakfast. The onsite bar is also very expensive for what you get and they don't have a very good selection of beers. They only have Stella, Guiness, Carling etc ;the basic beer you can get anywhere. I chose this hotel as its very convenient for the Science Park and quite reasonably priced. The hotel is a typical 4* business hotel with a gym and swimming pool. The only downside is the cooked breakfast, which was not nice at all when I've stayed there on 2 occasions, and you're lucky if you get offered tea and coffee with it.
