The room is lackluster and poorly designed. The beds face the hallway which is very noisy and can be heard clearly in the room, while the kitchenette/leisure room faces the balcony. There was a family staying a few doors down from us with lots of kids and we heard them all night and very early in the morning. Upon arrival we wanted to order room service […] but there was no menu in the room. I had to call down for one and the staff seemed put out by having to bring one to me. The same thing happened in the morning when we realized the menu they finally brought us was only the dinner menu. So again, I had to call down and just had the restaurant staffer tell me over the phone what they offered for breakfast. Again, she seemed very dissinterested and annoyed that she had to answer my question. The tub was slightly dirty. The heat pump kept tripping the circuit breaker so there was effectively no heat. The front desk offered no help. When we mentioned it at checkout, there was no offer of compensation.

Do not be fooled by their name. They are NOT a resort. Our room was on the 7th floor. Great view of the bay.... horrible design. The beds are placed right by the door to the hallway, while the dining & living area is to the back. You could hear EVERYTHING in the hallway. Was pleasantly surprised by the very large suite and king sized bed. The desk clerk was amazingly friendly and helpful. Down side is that the bed is near the door to the room and we could hear everything going on out in the hall. But the overall experience was still very good.

Spacious rooms, a lovely bay view and a reasonable price, but there were enough weird things that I won't be back. I did also appreciate the warm indoor pool for my winter visit. The rooms were kind of dated and it was odd to walk directly into the bedroom to get to the living area. The bathrooms were in need of some updates and repairs, Toilet clogged up on us and the shower head was one of those horrible water saver jobs that stings as it hits you. We enjoyed our stay. The room was very...ROOMY! It was quite pleasant to have a family room area in which to visit and watch tv. I just wished I'd brought food to eat, rather than gone to eat out! Our room was disappointing, as it smelled musty and had a a very dated look. I went to hang my clothing, and the built in hangers were covered with a layer of dust and dirt at the top. The rooms have seen better days. I took dry cleaning plastic off of an outfit and left it on the floor and unwrapped a new toothbrush and left the wrapper on the counter. […] Both pieces of garbage were left by housekeeping. This is a nice resort, located on the bay away from all the hubbub. BUT………I had been here for dinner before and liked it, so thought I'd give it a try. We had a suite, we wanted two rooms because the kids were traveling with us, and that is a very nice feature--to be able to have to separate areas. The bay side is all windows, and not very weatherproofed. […] We had to turn the heat up all the way to keep that room warm, which left it too hot in the other room. It is really nice to have a mini-kitchen facility, just know that it's not like a timeshare and you need to bring all your dishes and utensils. The big draw for us was the swimming pool; although the water was warm, the pool room was also very drafty. As long as you're in the pool you're OK, but it was a short stay after getting out. The hot tub was overheated, couldn't put my foot in it. I think they took care of it after we asked a couple of times. I wish I could leave a better review; the resort is a very nice facility. We had a very pleasant room with a spectacular view. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the clerks at registration. The staff we encountered throughout our stay were polite and friendly. They were eager to respond to any request. The restaurant was very reasonable in price and the quality of the food was excellent. What more could you ask.

LOCATION: Hotel was located just North from the main VA Beach attractions, about a 10 minutes drive from the Neptune sculpture. A grocery was across the street, which we used not stock up on beach snacks and paper plates and plastic flatware. ACCOMMODATIONS: Rooms were large, living area was cozy, sink and microwave was provided, but no dinnerware. […] Most of the rooms over looked the beach, and offered a balcony of sorts to sit out on and enjoy the view. NO FREE WiFi. You have to pay $10/day for WiFi. Our room had a single Kingsize bed, and a queen size sofa bed. Kingsize mattress was hard and uncomfortable, even with the addition of a paper thin mattress pad. Ice maker at the end of the hallway, worked half of the time, with a persistent water puddle located right underneath it. SERVICE: Hotel staff was always friendly and very accommodating. Dining room was nice, quite, and the food was excellent. We were able to watch a beautiful sunset one of the nights. Wait staff was a little slow, but they were consistently friendly when ever they were at the table. Prices were reasonable, at no point did I feel like I was paying too much for what I was getting. OVERALL SATISFACTION: Even with the few negative comments, we'll more than likely come back for subsequent visits. The best thing about this hotel is the location. On the bay with views of the Bay Bridge. No crowds and the beach is very calm and safe. Also, their pool is open 24 hours for adults and 11 PM for kids. The beds are very comfortable and the air conditioning is the best. We can sit on the deck and watch the ships all day. Love this place.

Everything about the Hotel was fa-nominal except for the carpets. The staff was friendly and courteous. The location was great, it was nice and quiet. The only problem was the carpets were not clean at all. It didn't look as though the vacuum was run at all. So let me start off by saying this was our third time staying here. Here are a few perks of this hotel and the reason why you should stay here. #1: The location of the hotel. It is located on the bay (not the ocean). Very convenient to stores. #2: The indoor/outdoor pool. It is great if you have kids and if you go and stay in the cooler seasons, the […] indoor pool is heated. And it is not that deep. #3: The room. It was just enough for what we needed. #4: I like how they have a recycling bin the hotel. #5: The staff! They were very pleasant!! And now the downside. #1: Internet. You have to pay for internet. You either go downstairs or pay $10 a day for it. #2: The last time we stayed here, only one of the elevators were working that were near the pool. I felt bad for the people who were staying on the eighth floor considering those were the only elevators that went up to the floor. #3: The fridge that we had in the room was very hard to get into. All in all, yes the hotel is an older hotel, and yes the location is not oceanfront, but if you have small children, this place does the job. I have no problem of staying here again. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The amenities such as the restaurant, shop, and pool were great and very accommodating. The private beach was a bonus and helped to ease any discomforts we were experiencing. For example, our room was not impressive at all. The decor was worn and dated. When I checked in at 2:00, I asked if I would have a nice view. The desk person looked at me with a dismissive attitude and said of course. Well, my nice view was of the east parking lot, condo roofs and in the distance I could see the beach and water. The floor had bumps beneath the carpet to the extent I stumbled twice […] when going to my room. The room smelled musty and there was an obvious presence of mold in the shower. Toilet seat was stained. Internet: What internet? No help from the front desk. I was told to contact AT&T for help. This is not the service expected for a hotel proclaiming to be one of the best in Virginia Beach. Family owned seems to mean neglected. Food: The food service presented during the workshop I presented at the site was excellent. My audience and I were very impressed. Wait staff were very attentive to everything. I took advantage of dinner in the dining room and was very disappointed. The host led me to an outdoor seat and was babbling about something happening at 7. I did not pursue it further because it sounded like a cruise on the water and I was quite tired. I discovered after listening to the staff who were standing in a group and enjoying themselves that the dinner cruise was a reference to a special buffet that was going to be served at 7. We stayed for a 2 night jaunt to the beach before school started and the suite set up of the room was fantastic. The rooms were clean and layed out perfectly for a trip with several kids. The only drawback was the location in relation to the resort area. Sometimes the shower went from warm to extremely hot with no warning.
