"Brilliant hotel, really close to the NEC."
We spent 5 nights at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport whilst visiting Crufts at the NEC. We are repeat visitors having stayed here 5 or 6 times now. The staff are really attentive and professional, from reception to bar to restaurant to housekeeping. As the hotel is so close to the NEC and dog-friendly it is so reassuring to us that the stay there is also always pleasant. We will be back later this year.

"disappointing location and room"
I was lead to believe from the address (which includes Birmingham Airport on your website, ie not just the hotel name) that I could walk to this hotel from the airport terminal as it was at the airport but it transpired I needed to get a taxi which cost £12. Also there was no iron in the room (which might be as it is only a three star hotel) and as this is marketed as a hotel airport I would imagine it might be frequented by other business users who require an iron The room also had a very peculiar smell (room 115). Overall I would not recommend this hotel and won't use it again as it was poor value for money.

Room was in area that was being refurbished and the room was old and half refurbished. Decor was unfinished and it looked rough. Definitely situated in the old part of the hotel.

"good but room was freezing"

Very disappointed at breakfast. Asked waitress for Earl Grey tea. 10 mins later still no tea. Called waitress over and asked where our tea was. Response was ' Oh we haven't got any and went to leave. Not impressed with that!!

"OK but not OK enough!"
We stayed at this Hotel twice in one month. On the first occasion we stayed and parked for 1 week. On the 2nd occasion we stayed just one night. The first time we stayed in a ground floor room that was in need of an update. On the 2nd we were in a 1st floor re-furbished room that was better. The staff here were good but the facilities were not. The food was poor but expensive as was the drink. Couldn't understand how the one night stay with parking cost more than the week parking plus one night!!!! We were charged £8 for parking the one night!! but nothing for the week. Madness!!!

"Convenient hotel for NEC and LG Arena"
This hotel was exactly as I expected, good basic facilities and excellent cleanliness. My only gripes were that the room was a little cold initially but the oil filled radiator , once switched on, soon had it nice and toasty. I also wasn't overly impressed with the bed, felt like my head was lower than my feet and a dip in the middle. However, room (standard double) was small but perfectly formed, linen all of good quality and shower was excellent. We used the complimentary shuttle bus to get to and from the LG Arena which was fantastic, make sure you exit show promptly though as the last shuttle from the NEC / LG Arena is 11.15 and rather popular!

We were at a 3 day show at the NEC and apart from the many roundabouts and scanty road signs had a wonderful stay. Excellent hotel - super friendly staff. Good food (restaurant stays open until 9.30pm) Perfect

"never again !!"
check in was ok, room was lovely. however seeing as it was only my wife and I staying why was the settee set up as a bed ? drinks are beyond expensive ! nearly £12 for a pint of average lager and a glass of average Rose wine is taking the mickey ! the bar area was taken over by a wedding reception ?? didnt feel comfortable when we sat down for a drink at all. especially later on when they started fighting which then spilled out onto the entrance steps where we were having a cigarette. this was frightening to say the least. Breakfast was good, although we did have to wait for a while before we got a drink.

"Tired looking hotel with nice staff"
Very tired in/out. Rooms are very small, old textiles yet Im very pleased to say room cleanless was very clean. Tea making facilities in a room was a great adition. Due yo restaurant & bar bring open plan the whole downstairs smelled of vinegar as good served wasnt nice. The reception staff is an asset to this hotel friendly yet professional. Parking should be free for residents instead it will cost you £8 extra.

"Surprisingly good."
Staff were extremely attentive and friendly, far beyond my expectations. Dinner was OK, breakfast was awesome. The bed was superbly comfortable and the room provided everything I needed. It's an airport hotel, so the neighbourhood is not too inviting, though I found a little woodland walk near the hotel in the early morning.

"Great room but upset about Parking Charge"
Stay was really good. It was more than adaquete for our needs as it was a stop over after a late engagement. The knly downside was had tonpay 8.50 to use their own car park which is silly seeing as 99% of hotels have free parking.

"Mixed level of service"
This was a hotel booked for a 2 night business trip for 5 people and everyone had different experiences. Some people were made to wait whilst checking in (and there were plenty of people on the desk) whilst the rest of the group had a very good check in process. The same mixed level of service continued with the car parking ticket, the restaurant and the people on the reception desk when there was an issue with the key card. Location is good and the hotel is in good condition. No ironing board as standard but housekeeping were quick to bring one up.

"Will not stay at this location again!"
I travel to many locations and hotels and this by far was the worst hotel room I have experienced. The wing of the hotel was antiquated and in need of an update. The door to the room did not close properly. The hose connecting the water to the shower head was missing. Overall the room was old, poorly lit, small and very expensive. When I made these comments to the gentleman at the front desk in the morning, he duly made note of the room number and rated it a 7 of 10. I commented that it should be revised to a 3! The bar area was acceptable and the staff in the bar were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was mediocre at best.

"Great overnight stay"
I made my booking while at the airport and it was confirmed within a minute. With a quiet room, large comfortable bed, air-conditioning, free WiFi, and plenty of sockets, this is just the kind of place you need after a long flight. There is a free regular shuttle bus service that connects the Inn to Birmingham International Train Station. The only thing that might concern some people is that they require you to put down your card details, but I haven't run into any problems from it so far.

"Not bad at all"
We stayed here as we were going to watch some cricket at edgbaston. Free shuttle bus every half hour from the hotel to airport train station and train to new street was only 15 mins with last one returning just after 11pm. Hotel was a little tired but appeared to be undergoing some renovations. All in all a nice hotel and handy for the centre despite being an a airport hotel. We'll definitely stay again.

Good location, easy to find. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. room was big enough. Bathroom was very clean but shower was weak. Restaurant breakfast buffet was excellent. "Airport hotel convenient for Solihull & surrounds"
The hotel has been nicely redecorated with a pleasing decor in the rooms (which was very clean). The air conditioning was not working making the room very hot and a duvet wholly unnecessary. We did not have breakfast there but drove to nearby Knowle (10 minutes away) to visit a coffee house so cannot comment on the food.

Not happy, the air con in the room had a service fault so we had to go to reception, on the way we got stuck in a boiling hot lift for about 15 mins. got charged £8.50 for parking. On top of that the receptionist went on like what happened to me and my 6 year old son was the most normal thing in the world. I wont stay at this hotel again. Ever.

"A good Nights Sleep in the Holiday Inn"
The hotel is an Art Deco vintage building that is in need of some TLC. Nevertheless, well compensated by a bright and enthusiastic team at all levels, from management all the way through to housekeeping service. What a great team. The chief has got a great menu and the beer is cold. Spa facilities are great so don't forget to take your cossy, and sports kit. Wifi is free and very stable. Just needs a few grand spent out in a coat of paint and some TLC. Good price, good location for me and comfy beds.

Few issues the toilet door wouldn't close properly or lock. The Aircon was old fashioned sounded like a Jetfighter on the max setting... Its a bit of a distant to the main city centre its around 6 miles..

"Good location - ideal shuttle"
Stayed here for 3 nights whilst exhibiting at the NEC - excellent breakfast buffet and the FREE shuttle to the station was ideal for getting to and from the NEC. We ate at the hotel every evening and the food good from the lounge menu and restaurant - the evening meal buffet was a bit hit and miss. I stayed in two rooms - one refurbished one older - both had comfy beds and were fit for purpose. The biggest plus here was the staff - EXCELLENT - very friendly, they recognised us and looked after our group really well.

What positive remarks you can make on the cleanliness of the rooms were then only let down by the £8.50 car park charge and the very poor quality service and food and lack of heating the rooms.
