I thought this was a hotel for homeless people when I first walked in because there were about a dozen people hanging around the lobby and wasn't sure if they were guests at the hotel. the hotel lobby, and halls were dark and in relative poor condition. the room, however, was very nice. bed was awesome and slept very well.

Hotel was a quick walk to Habs game. Parking was very good and service with very friendly and informative employees was exceptional. Room was very clean and beds were very comfortable. Only negative was the bathroom as leaks in toilet and shower.

Except for the blatant arrogance of the French desk clerks seeping through when checking in and checking out because I spoke English, the Espresso hotel gets better with each visit. I was excited to find a hotel for a great price in a great location with consistently good guest ratings. What I found when I got there was a great location, an overpriced hotel considering what I got, and an overall very dirty hotel that I would not return to. I was disgusted by the condition an lack of cleanliness of the room. I did not have a renovated […] room, and that might account for the condition of the room (i.e. worn out furniture) but does not excuse the filthy condition of the room. This is a very very decent to great place to stay. For the cost per night, this hotel I would say is ABOVE standard. They given me a newly decorated room that had an excellent bed and really modern and comfortable room. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay -- for sure!

The hotel was worn out. we left hotel room at 10 AM, came back at 4 PM to find our room hasn't been cleaned yet. There was a hole in the bathroom door, it looks like someone puched it but then it was fixed with different color of paint. There was a stain in the comforter. Even though the location is convenient, I won't stay here again

We were a little concerned about what to expect from this hotel due to mixed reviews but fortunately we got a newly remodeled room and it was delightful. Very modern, spacious, comfortable and clean. Overall, a perfectly fine experience. Not fancy but no ugly surprises. Great staff. Great coffee. Restaurant buffet was sad but if you ordered off the menu the food was fresh and well prepared. The dining area is a bit neglected but that's because there is a street full of wonderful restaurants a block away. I wouldn't choose this hotel for the pool, […] either. The hallways and common spaces are not nearly as nice as the rooms. Our room was great. Comfortable, clean and the hard wood floors were a welcome change. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. The location is just a couple of blocks away from St. Catherine street and 5-10 mins away by car to Old Port/ Old Montreal. You can leave your car at the parking area even after you checked out. We highly recommend this place for its price and location.

The lobby is deceiving because you would think the rest of the hotel was as nice. Once we went up to the 5th floor, there was a stench of urine or old beer (or both) that greets you as you exit. Our room was all the way to the end of the hall so we had to endure the smell every time we came or went from our room. On our 2nd day, we had no new towels […] from housekeeping to replace the ones we had used that morning. We had to ask at the front desk and they did replace them quickly. The hotel was quite a ways from anywhere we wanted to visit and did a large amount of walking. One night we asked the front desk where the closest place was to get ice cream and no one seemed to know. We had many loud people in the rooms around us... slamming of doors at all hours. We will not revisit this hotel on our next stay in Montreal. Read more

Extremely noisy thru the night, staff won't move a finger to prevent guests from disturbing other guests thru the night. Lots of students running and yelling thru the hallways. In the other hand, the hotel is nicely located near downtown and near restaurants, convenience stores, etc.

Went to Montreal for a Canadiens game and stayed one night at the Hotel Espresso. Only a block away from the Bell Centre, 5 min walk. Really like the free wifi available throughout the hotel. Overall solid hotel

Typical hotel checked me into a room below a floor under construction, couldn't sleep. But they moved me to a nicer room (they have those!) which was clean and quiet. The location is central for downtown but removed from nightlife, etc. Very reasonable price would stay again.

Had to stay in Montreal for a month as was treated like a king. Staff are wonderful, rooms are huge. Just a bit noisy from either ice machines or air conditioning. Hopefully in time they can spruce up the hallways with new tiles or carpets and put in a quieter system.

Hotel Espresso is a basic hotel. No frills, but certainly adequate. It's locations and inside parking made it a great hotel for attending events at the Bell Centre.

As a group of American students taking advantage of a post-new Years rate, this place was amazing. Right in the middle of downtown Montreal, this place was perfect for a couple of party-crazy college students. Free shots of espresso and cups of coffee 24 hours a day kept us going for a straight week. Definitely recommend this place!

The locatioin of the hotel is prime. You can walk to the train station and downtown, shopping area within 15 mins tops. The hotel overall is okay, but if your a couple wanting to 3-4 star treatment, this hotel is not for you. Its an okay hotel if your a bunch of guys just crashing.
