"Free Expresso at teh Expresso hotel"
Free coffee is a nice touch. Hotel is starting to be in need of renovations. Not bad but far from great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Restaurant & Bar?"
I recently stayed at Hotel Espresso with my boyfriend. We arrived in Montreal around dinnertime and were hoping to get a drink and maybe something to eat at the hotel bar. We walked in the bar area, and no one was around. We stood there for three or four minutes and realized no one was coming to serve us - so we left. Otherwise, the accommodations were […] typical of an older hotel. Nothing overly special. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Needs a major update"
The best thing about Hotel Espresso is the proximity to Chez La Mere Michel. A wonderful restaurant not to be missed within a 5 minute walk from the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"terrible first impression"
The hotel did make changes and fixed our initial issues, however, no one should have ever been given the room we were. Lights were not working, wifi in room didn't work, missing an ironing board, the ceiling in the bathroom shower was crumbling with mold, and the toilet didn't flush well. After complaining the next morning, we were upgraded to a nicer […] room, but they should have never rented it out in the condition it was in. Staff was friendly and accommodating, but I wouldn't recommend again. Also, the hotel is a layover for the sickly indigenous people of the northern part of Canada, so the lobby is full of patients waiting to get medical treatment at the nearby medical center, it almost looked like a welfare hotel at first glance when you walked in. "good hotel for the price"
The staff was professional and efficient. My request for a room with two beds was granted. We had the buffet for dinner which was the only negative aspect of our visit there. The quality and condition of the food (dry and tasteless) left something to be desired. There were out of the norm people usually present in the lobby. Later we learned they were […] Cree Indians being brought to Montreal for medical attention after the loss of their hospital in a fire back in their village in the James Bay area. It was not a problem.. I wish them well while their hospital is being rebuilt. The room was in good condition, large, light and the beds comfortable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just a one night stay on way thru Montreal"
Renovated room was nice and hotel was close enough to walk to different places in downtown MontrealGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very professionally staffed, with an OK restaurant. I e-mailed the hotel after my stay & they didn't respond which was disappointing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"can be a nightmare..or a dream"
First night we got a horrible room. Running toilet. Mildew in the bathroom. Broken coffee machine. swollen and flaking ceiling in the room and bathroom. Drunken patrons on the floor partying with doors open , fuzzy TV. and old desktop that was humming. Horrible night The staff reacted with care and swiftness. Cindy gets special mention. Upon complaining...bath […] fixed, pot replaced within 30 min. When she found out about the ceiling, she gave us another room. Night and day!! totally renovated....granite sink..gleaming faucets, keurigg coffee machine, great coffee, working tv, intact ceiling, clean and bright room with comfortable bed and accessories. LESSON: ask to see the room!! Having taken care of that...the hotel is well located in downtown. Very convenient to get to everywhere. Staff very very helpful..from the front desk to the maintenance person. My rating reflects the average review of the first room and second. The first is less than 1..the second room 4.5 Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"great location near Concordia, Atwater and downtow"
We found this Hotel an ideal location. It was close to our son, near Atwater as wel as Concordia and only a short drive from Mt Royal, McGill and Downtown Montreal. The room was clean as was the gym and pool. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience which is one we hope to repeat on our next trip to Montreal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Ok hotel. Rooms were clean and beds big and comfortable. Wifi did not work in my room. I used the business center on 2nd floor. Don't expect anything new or exciting here, just a clean standard hotel ....you could do worse in Montreal.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Brought friends to Montreal"
I stay here many times before always positive and this time Was no differentGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great value!!! Our room was beautifully upgraded and clean , staff was very nice . Great value for the money . It was little far from old town - about 30 min walk but still manageable . We enjoyed the stay very muchGenuine Expedia guest review
Rooms were full of dust because the floors were wooden rather than carpet. Absolutely against staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"clean, good service"
It was a fine stay, close to a bar section of town and not too far from one of the main drags. On hind sight a little closer to Old Montreal would have been preferable, though the metro wasn't far and was very easy to use.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not bad if you just want to stay a night for a hockey game, otherwise it's too far away for the more fun Old Montreal stuff. Awful room service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It is definitely a not 4 star hotel!!"
This hotel could be a 2 1/2 star, but not a 4 star as it is indicated. Long lines for check-in/ check out, old, low maintenance, and you do not get the cozy feeling in the rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great service, decore is dated."
Everything was great with our stay. The service was some of the best I've ever had. How often do you get a free gourmet coffee at check in and check out? The only problem is that the rooms look quite dated. Overall I would stay again as the price was reasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the greatest hotel"
The room was runned down..dresser drawers were missing the hardware, the chairs in the room were ripped and falling apart. The 2nd guest bed comforter was stained.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is not 5 stars hotel, but other than that, every was great. It worth every penny you pay with excellent location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very clean and good condition. Easy to access to downtown area.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel Espresso was fine. If you are used to spending $130 and getting an elegant room, you may be disappointed. The room fixtures are a little cheap and some appeared dirty. But overall, it was good enough for the two days I spent in Montreal. Would I go back: yea, probably. The staff was nice and helpful and it met my cleanliness standards even if […] it was less than I'm accustomed to getting for $130. But it was in the middle of the city, so you get what you pay for. Breakfast and parking was not included. The breakfast buffet was ~$14 and did not look very good, so I didn't have it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"This hotel almost ruined our entire vacation"
This hotel is located in a seedy neighborhood. The outside has graffiti on it, and the front area looks like a methadone clinic in an inner city. We had an 8 foot conversion van that we needed to park which their garage could not accommodate. Instead of trying to problem solve for us, the very rude girl at the front desk kept just saying she didn't […] know what we could do. There were parking spaces out front, but she said we were not allowed to park there even if we paid their exorbitant rate of $22 per night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location. Staff needs to clean"
The hotel is great if you intend to spend your time in downtown Montreal. That said, the rooms definitely left something to be desired. The furniture had nicks and scratches, the baseboard molding looked like it had not to cleaned in a year, the walls had dirt marks all over them, and the grout/ caulking in the shower was covered with mold. Lastly, […] the wi-fi was TERRIBLE. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good for staying one or two nights"
I only stayed one night when I arrived in Montreal. I liked the fact that the bus from the airport has a stop really close to the hotel. Metro is also within walking distance which is important. It's not a bad place to stay if you want a place a bit cheaper and you like to walk around the shopping area. My only gripe was that the toilet did not flush […] well. This would've been more of an issue if I had stayed longer. For a little finer experience of Montreal, I would stay in the Old Montreal area which is what I did for the rest of my stay there. This place is perfect for one or two nights stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My daughter and I spent three nights here while visiting montreal for the first time. Check in was fast and pleasant, we were offered coffee while we checked in. Our room was much better than I had expected, I'm assuming newly renovated, clean and welcoming. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linens were fresh and clean. We used the pool which […] again was clean with plenty of towels and chairs to sit out on. The neighbourhood felt safe and the hotel is only a short walk to the two subway lines which was very convenient for us although most tourist areas for shopping, entertainment etc was within a mile or so with plenty of restaurants, cafes along the way. The hotel has good basic amenities and spacious comfortable rooms in a good location for a great price. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close walk to Bell Centre"
The location of this hotel was fabulous! We were able To park in a garage and walk to our show at the Bell CentreGenuine Expedia guest review
I thought the location of the hotel was excellent. Near several streets in downtown Montreal and a walking distance to all. By the way if you plan on visiting Montreal get ready cause there will be a LOT of walking. I recommend the hotel only if everybody checking in are males. Not family friendly. Every time I would enter or leave the hotel the front […] lobby would be filled random people that where not staying at the hotel. It was just weird. Did not bother me, but would not want my children around that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

For the price, not bad. It was incredibly cheap and served its purpose. Not the best, not the friendliest staff, but it had amazing location and the room was fine, mini fridge included.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wasn't sure what to expect because of the mixed reviews.. One thing we made sure at check in was to ask for a renovated room (based on other reviews) and the staff mentioned that all rooms were renovated.. Sure enough went in and found a nice clean room... Wifi wasn't the greatest on all the floors, but at the reception it was good and pretty fast.. […] staff was good, helpful and accommodating.. cannot beat the location.. short walk to old Montreal as well as the International Jazz festival.. we reached the hotel around 1:45 PM and they gave us a room right away.. Didn't try the restaurant.. On the down side had to pay additional 22 USD for unlimited in/out parking for a day (which we were expecting anyways)... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not go great Hotel on a great downtown location"
First day, the AC didn't work and next day they fixed the AC , which apparently was a very easy fix!! Next four days , we had problems with Light , Takes forever to flush ( you gotta flush like few times ) and you will be taking a bath on a pool of water , if your wife takes bath first. Bath Towels stinks ( literally )! Shower tub is so small and […] not clean. Overall, not so great hotel on an excellant location. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, close to the core of downtown Montreal"

"Very conveniently located"
Rooms have been recently renovated and were in excellent condition. Staff was also very friendly and helpful. Look forward to staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was booking a trip for a large party for a bachelor's party. I booked four rooms in total to fit eleven rowdy, gaudy, and loud Bostonians. The staff were beyond accommodating, upgrading one of my rooms for no charge and switching rooms when we discovered one of the blocks of rooms had a faulty air conditioner (didn't blow out cold air.) They even […] got us a room on the same floor! They were helpful, insightful, and put up with a group as rambunctious as mine! We did notice some minor condition problems with the hotel, but soon discovered it was a symptom of of the city itself: Plumbing. The toilet in one room clogged and the drainage for the showers is lackluster unless you like a foot soak while you shower! Overall these were barely an inconvenience since the maintenance crew were always diligently solving any problem we came to them with. With free espresso in the lobby, a great sauna/pool combo as well as a moderately priced bar you really can't beat this place for a great stay literally two minutes away from an incredible and visually stunning area of Montreal. Also, it's right across the street from a police station and there are the friendliest officers present throughout the city. Frankly, I can't say enough nice things about this hotel for how great the stay was! There's also a currency exchange and a mini-store (with weird hours) right in the lobby that is truly the cherry to this sundae. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
location and in room PC with internet were the key reason I booked this hotel, PC in our room did not work and Bathroom door wouldn't shut, front desk staff was down right rude and would not respond to calls from room.Location was excellent lot of restaurants in the area, parking in hotel was a seprate chargeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was ok, but food is terrible"
It was decent for a 3 star hotel, but nothing special. The only real problem we had was that the breakfast buffet was totally inedible. I'm not overly picky, but everything was just bad. Even the hard boiled eggs tasted like leather. They cant even cook an egg??!! LOLGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel location is convenience. Room is spacious. But, should clean up better, my room table , counter top and lamps area I can see dust, it should clean up before we check in. Hopefully next time will be better.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice stay!!"
Close to everything - 3 minutes from Bell Centre! One block from St-Catherine's shopping/variety stores. Great spacious room. Two queens with nice fresh crispy white linens; hardwood floor; Samsung tv; your own fride - nice size; desk and chair; free wi-fi; parking downstairs $22 overnight; nice decor. Rest of building a but dated but lobby modern feel […] also fresh coffee at receptionist. Elevators quick. Great deal at $70+taxes on Expedia - last minutes deals. "Eh, Ok for the price"
For $75 per night, i was not expecting mutch. The lobby is decent but the hallways to the room were in desperate need of help (there was a rennovating sign that looked like it has been there forever). The rooms were big and the bed comfortable. There was no fitted sheet on the mattress so we had to keep fixing the sheets to cover it. The bathrooms were […] clean enough, but there was some mold/spots. All in all, ok for the money. I thought this was a hotel for homeless people when I first walked in because there were about a dozen people hanging around the lobby and wasn't sure if they were guests at the hotel. the hotel lobby, and halls were dark and in relative poor condition. the room, however, was very nice. bed was awesome and slept very well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
