"Nice neighborhood with underground station"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Clean, spaciuse rooms, although a bit old but well maintained. At 1st we received a smaller room that expected and paid for "club room" but once we asked we were given the club room. I didnt like the fact of giving a smaller room unless I complain, a bit unprofessional but honestly very nice and helpful staff.

"Great location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The staff was always pleasant and our room was clean. The hotel building is very old. They have done their best to update but I think the rating should be two stars and not three. Rooms are very small but we only used it for sleeping. Hotel is only two short blocks to the Queensway Tube station. The breakfast buffet was adequate but nothing fancy. Two VERY small elevators service the building and run very slow, so expect to be patient in catching one up or down.

The University of London and the British Museum give Bloomsbury a bookish air. Charlotte Street offers good restaurants, while Tottenham Court Road has electronic stores to suit all budgets, and links to the 300 shops of buzzing Oxford Street. Trendy Soho is a few minutes away by foot. Full of local character, it offers interesting pubs, top restaurants, West End theatres and a rich, sometimes risqué nightlife.

Having stayed here several times before, I was happy to book in for a couple of nights for some work in London. The location on the Strand is ideal for me, right opposite the Coal Hole, which is a great little pub with good food and excellent choice of real ales, as well as being an easy walk to Covent Garden, West End, Holborn, and easy access to Templet, […] Embankment, Charing Cross or Covent Garden tube stations for travel slightly further afield. Having been refurbished, the room was very clean although slightly on the small side, but in reality big enough for my needs. Check in staff were friendly and helpful, and free wi-fi for the stay was much appreciated. Read more
"Delightful stay!"
The hotel is quite easy to locate and in a convenient part of town to Theatres and Museums near Charing Cross station. The room was incredibly clean, quiet and comfortable, and we'd recommend the breakfast!
"London Marathon stay"
Nice hotel, had a room on the back onto Exeter st. Nice and quiet, very central and great location. Close to plenty of restaurants and also useful coop and tesco express.Breakfast was ok too - a plentiful choice of cereals and cooked breakfast and porridge. Rooms are quite small but adequate. All in all ok considering walking up to the hotel all you […] see is scaffolding and dust sheets. Read more

Rooms could be a bit larger overall very satisfied.
"Strand palace"
Stayed at the hotel before and it has always been good however this time the room was very small the bed was extremely uncomftable and the toilet did not flush properly. When I reported the problems in the morning the reception staff seemed uninterested I got a very insincere apology not what I expected for the money paid.

"Strand palace, London"
I was a little disappointed in my room. There was no fridge, only plastic cups and I was not able to regulate the heating. The bathrobe though was lovely and the service excellent. Thanks
"Strand Palace"
I booked a superior club double I did not exspect a box room with the bed next to wall which made it dificult to get in or out of bed without disturbing your partner.I will say it was very clean but maybe I exspected to much .I would not recamend this hotel to any of my friends.I would like to say that I have stayed at this hotel on about 4 other accacions […] and that is why I chose this hotel and the rooms where better than this one. All the rooms have been totally refurbished since our last visit and we were upgraded to an Executive room as it was my birthday. We had stayed here about two years ago and they had obviously kept our details. The room was very modern in decor with a king-size bed. Complimentary newspapers and daily replenished water and fruit were a nice touch together […] with free internet and in-house movies. As well as 10% off all hotel charges booked to the room such as drinks and meals, the Executive package includes the exclusive use of a new Covent Garden breakfast room which is tastefully laid up with crisp white table-cloths and provided with excellent waiter service and therefore avoids the long queues at the weekend. Will definitely return. Read more

Seems we must pay over the top for London hotels, great location, service not that special, however the room was like a match box and very compact, for the price I beleive the room should be better. Would not stay again, Im sure I could find better in central London for the price.
Everything was fine except for the check in which was really slow. I gave up the first time and had to make a complaint the second try

"Strand Palace Hotel London, excellent location"
Good - friendly staff, good service, clean and well maintained, close to City, theatres and tourist sites. Bad - tiny room and petty charges for left luggage.
"Ideal for a central London stay - Strand Palace"
We stayed for one night in February. Reception was fast and welcoming, with clear directions to the room and offer of help with luggage. Room was small, as are most central London rooms, but there was plenty of storage space, and it was spotlessly clean. The position of the bed meant a bit of acrobatics to get in one side, but everything else was fine. […] Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and cooked food to a high standard. Service throughout our stay was very friendly and efficient. Close to Covent Garden, Victoria Embankment etc. Will definitely stay again. Read more

I was really pleased with this hotel where I stayed for a conference. The room was larger than expected (I have stayed previously and some have been small), clean, comfortable and well decorated in a simple, contemporary style. Excellent location on a busy road yet my room was quiet. Good breakfast with a choice of fresh fruit. No complaints at all, […] will book again for the conference next year. Read more

"Strand Palace Hotel London"
Fabulous public areas. Excellent service and friendly staff. I look forward to seeing the re-furbished outer shell of the hotel. The room was small for a double but adequate for my 2 night stay

"Great breakfast!"
Our room was facing inward rather than on to the street so lovely and quiet. The window was a bit rickety when we opened it, most likely the reason for the scaffolding on the outside. The breakfast was great, and all the staff were exceptionally friendly and very efficient in the restaurant. Such a central and convenient location too. Would stay here […] again. Read more

"In the heart of things"
Excellent location for theatreland and covent garden. Clean and comfortable. Lots of options for food and drink in hotel and if not suitable, many others nearby,
"The Strand Palace London"
As usual my stay at this hotel was excellent-convienent within the best areas/places of London. I always enjoy staying in this hotel
"Strand Palace"
The club room we stayed in was well appointed and maintained. All staff were friendly and helpful. I would have preferred not to have been charged £2 per each item of luggage i wanted to leave in the hotels keeping while i had one last look round Covent Garden before catching my train home.
"A room for the night"
Stayed in a room for one. Clever use of space but no room to swing a cat. Luckily, I left the cat at home. Got the munchies at 3am in the morning and room service brought up the best club sandwich ever!

"Strand Palace Hotel"
Very pleasant stay - staff friendly and helpful. Reception most efficient and breakfast was excellent.
"Strand Palace, London"
Although our first impressions were excellent - early check-in, good room, pleasant and clean -we were very unhappy later when a good night's sleep was impossible. The state of the single- glazed window frame let draughts into the room and did nothing to alleviate the noise of traffic. The frame was very loose with large gaps. Added to that, work started […] on the building across the road at around midnight to assemble a covered walkway on the pavement. This was to protect pedestrians from the next part of the work, to clean the exterior of the building, which started around 6 am. Whilst the hotel had no control about the work, the state of the windows IS their responsibility. Our sleep would have been far less disturbed if double or even triple glazing had been fitted. The Strand Palace was, clean, busy and rarther big, but, clean friendly and idealy situated for Theatres, I was delighted bacause of the cheaper rate I paid. The Savoy is situated accross the Street, ideal for a pre Theatre cocktail !

clean, good central location.i would use this hotel again
"Strand Palace Nov 2011"
Plus points..... Wonderful building and decor. Great location. Excellent staff and service throughout. High Quality and plentiful food. Brasserie exemplary. Minus points..... Room too small, too hot, not enough ventilation. Breakfast Room too hot. I think paid too much for room !!
"Clean but....."
I did enjoy my stay and it was incredibly spotlessly clean and to some degree comfortable, but it was tainted by the lack of suitable sound proofing and Air conditioning. I was kept awake one night by a snorer in a neighbouring room and a late night TV watcher on another night. A Fan was provided but it didnt make a difference. I had inner courtyard […] facing room which didnt really have any kind of view and the window boards would only let a small amount of light in. Probably would not choose again unless they had different rooms, but to be fair the staff were pleasant and as I said before the rooms were spotlessly clean . Read more

"The Strand Palace Hotel - Great position"
This hotel if an efficient functional hotel that does what it says on the tin. Great position, fast, polite and efficient staff. Never going to be the best or biggest rooms in the world but they are comfortable, value for money, the basics are all there and the hotel does a good breakfast.

"Theatre Break weekend."
From the welcoming smile of the Receptionist to the polite attitude of the Staff who served at meal times it was a pleasure to stay at the Strand Palace. Being so close to the variety of theatres I find it to be an ideal base and the brisk walk to the Embankment and the other sites in Westminster make it a "healthy"space after a great breakfast.

Our room had been recently refurbished - well pleased with room, staff, food ,service etc. Have stayed there before and will do so again.
We found this hotel met all our needs for a lovely weekend stay. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The safety aspect was important to us, being two females, and we found this in both the hotel and the surrounding area. We would recommend everything about the hotel and area.
