At the end if the Waikiki strip with a very short walk to the beach. Diamond Head is up the street, we actually walked there due to limited parking space availability at the site. As for the room, it was clean and roomy. Didn't have any issues. Parked the car on the street nearby to avoid the $25 + tax valet only parking at the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location. Friendly staff. Hotel was a bit dated but I actually preferred this hotel over the Hilton that we stayed at later in the week bc of the location. Valet scratched our rental car but it was taken care of immediately. Would definitely come back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"awesome long weekend!"
So happy with the hotel it was walking distance to Waikiki beach, cafes, shops, parks and zoo! No need to rent a car from Honolulu airport it's accessible by public bus (take route 19/20 towards Waikiki beach $2.50/person... make sure you have change) the hotel has a very limited parking space (pricey too!) so if you want to drive north just rent a […] car for the whole day for less than $50 (few blocks from the hotel). We were given a room upgrade for free! with lanai overlooking the cityview, mountain/volcano, part of the ocean view and zoo. Yes we can't wait to go back to Hawaii and yes we are staying in Queen Kapiolani Hotel again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"clean comfy a little loud however"
The rooms and service were clean and efficient. Stayed here 1 night when my apartment was getting serviced. The windows are not great at keeping sound out but after about 11 and before 6 the surrounding area was fairly quiet. The bed was good quality and the bathroom has new finishes... A good place to crash that is not a full resort like elsewhere […] in Waikiki. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Affordable stay near Waikiki"
Excellent location. Half the price of nearby hotels. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean. Got an upgrade with a microwave. This helped us eat in several times thus helping us save money. Very near to diamond head. Waikiki beach is walkable. Across from Honolulu zoo. Great view of beach and Diamond Head. Wireless connection was little […] spotty in the room. Daily 25$ parking fee was little high (but every hotel in the area charge similar amounts). Close to highway. Rooms could use an upgrade of carpet/paints. Beds were too soft and in due for a replacement. Overall great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for what was needed"
Great view, in the quieter spot of Waikiki. Was for my last 3 days of my trip and used it to relax. Great price for Waikiki. Enjoyed my stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great vacation getaway"
Hotel room was great, very roomy. Close yo the Zoo, Waikiki Beach, Waikiki Shell and many eateries within walking distance. Great view if Diamond head from our room. Only downside we had was hardly opened our curtains because other hotels on either side can see right in our room , and the parking fees suck at $25 a day. These hotels really should make […] pArking no more than $10 a day for guests. The parking itself is really discouraging many of us local Kamaaina from taking staycations here. I'm all for supporting our local economy, but they need to support us too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We definitely enjoyed our stay at Queen Kapiolani. It was close to everything we wanted to see and had all the amenities we needed. I will warn you though the wifi is super slow, vale parking is expensive, and the conditioner wasn't that great (I appreciate my hair feeling really clean after the beach). Other than that, no complaints!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly Staff & convenient Location"
We needed a centrally located hotel because we combined a family vacation with taking our daughter to college @ UH Manoa. The friendly staff @ the hotel made up for some deficits in amenities (small pool, messy deck area, small bathrooms & complicated room A/C). Our Diamondhead view included the ocean as well. Our room was very quiet-never heard any […] other guests or TV/bathroom noise.Within walking distance of beach & stores. Valet parking was pricey @ $25/day but we never had to wait long for our car. Really liked our room because we could hear the animals across the street @ the Honolulu Zoo (birds & primates) in the morning from the balcony seating. We would stay here again! A nice place to stay for vacation, beach 1 block away, abc stores, cafes close by, rental car parking fee way to high so we parked at another hotel's garage 2 blocks away. Beach toys and event staff are very nice. We would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Ice machines were broken. Bathroom in lobby smelled like sewage. Wonderful valet staff. Loved the surf shop guy. Wonderful location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"HIGH PRICE FOR SMALL ROOM"

"No A/C & very loud, mom & 2 yr old didn't sleep"
This hotel seemed great until we realized that the windows don't fully shut and there was no air conditioning. It was so uncomfortably hot in our room that even with the windows fully open, it wasn't cool enough for our family to sleep. The location seemed great until we heard the noise from the neighborhood in our room. It was so loud that even if […] we were able to get over the heat, the sound would keep us awake. The service was excellent. The bellmen in particular are fantastic. The front desk upon check in was ridiculously slow - only 3 people in line and we waited about 25 minutes with a newborn and a 2 yr old.. The bellman waited for us with our massive amount of luggage near the elevator the whole time since we didn't know what room he could bring it to. If this hotel upgraded to central A/C and replaced their windows with sound proof ones, this would be a great hotel. As it is, I would not recommend anyone to stay here. Being able to sleep is really the number one requirement of a hotel room. We might have had better luck sleeping on the beach. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would definitely come back to this hotel"
Everything was clean and neat. Lobby is beautiful and open, with many services such as rental gear, chocolate, tours, etc. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Only 2 blocks from the beach. Many close shops and cafés/restaurants with good, healthy food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and excellent service"
The room I had was a bit smallish and an older hotel, but overall they made up for that with their service, friendliness, and the location was great. Directly across the street from the Honolulu Zoo, and a breathtaking view of Diamond head from the Pool and Bar balcony. All of the Staff were very friendly and the place felt very homey in very short […] time. A great value for the money. Their "TALK STORY" presentation in the lobby several days in the week was really nice, with an indepth discussion and presentation of the Island culture, history and very cool story of Queen Kapiolani herself and her place in Hawaiian history. It prompted us to then take a visit to Iolani Palace for even more details of the history of Hawaii and it's royalty and cultural history. Great stuff. We rode there from the hotel on rented Bicycles we got on the first floor at our hotel. Nice way to take in the area and stop by a great brewery called Honolulu Beerworks on the way back for lunch. all in all a really great time. Mahalo Nui Loa to all at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel. Great hotel, great price, great location!! Would definitely recommend! However not luxurious if that is what you are looking for. We spent most of our time out and about. "Perfect for beach access"
The picture of the pool shows umbrellas... no umbrellas. The pool was small, but there was shade and access to bar and restaurant. The zoo is right across the street and there were plenty of places to eat near the hotel. The beach is just up a block, but if you head left, you will find a better beach setting with grass and shade. Nice location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My wife and I were happy with our stay at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel. It was what we were looking after switching from a less open and airy hotel. Rooms are really average. Best price in Waikiki though. Beds bit soft but comfy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was satisfied with the service of the staff.Room was clean although it's old and lingering smell..I think it's from the old dirty carpet. No matter how much they vacuum ,the old stink smell is always there. They need to rip it off and freshen up.One more thing was the valet service. We we're out late one night and had to stop our car on the side of the […] road close to the hotel coz we couldn't get in the front where valet guys can see us.My husband has to call them and ask what is going on.They said, there was an event in the hotel that's why full of cars.We don't have a choice and woke up my 9 yrs. old sleeping and carry my 5 yrs. old going up to lobby. That one dissappointed me big time otherwise will stay there again.Kids love the pool though... Accomodations as expected for Waikiki area with some above average services. K**** with Valet services is the best!!! He went well above and beyond his duties to be friendly and helpful. Being a Hawaiian myself I really felt the spirit of Aloha with K and the staff. Front desk well above average and very friendly and helpful. "good value at the edge of Waikiki"
I am born and raised in Honolulu, and the Queen Kapiolani Hotel is perfect hotel if you want something clean, simple, on the edge of Waikiki Beach where the best beaches are. To be honest, the rest of Waikiki Hotels are nice but they are mobbed with lots of tourists. I think Queen Kapiolani Hotel puts you at walking distance to the beach, aquarium, […] Honolulu Zoo, and Kapiolani Park at the base of Diamond Head Crater. This is a good spot for beach, biking, and running. I also like the fact that the Honolulu Zoo (right across the street) has 24hr credit card-enabled parking meters. I did the in-and-out 24/7 valet car service for $24/day which was convenient since parking in Waikiki can be tricky. lastly, Kapahulu Ave is right up the road from the hotel with amazing local eateries like Rainbows Drive In, Ono Hawaiian Foods, Leonard's Bakery, and Sekiya's Japanese Restaurant Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, but not 4 Star"
I like the location and chose the hotel because of the location. Supposedly, the hotel just finished major renovation. However, when we checked in, the sliding doors of the closest easily came off the track. More importantly, the AC didn't work. The renovation project obviously did not include new AC units. When I called the front desk, a maintenance […] person showed up and repaired both items. Parking is available ($25/day) but is not operated by the hotel. The valets are friendly, but overall service is average. If the price is right, I would stay here again, only because of the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The Queen K is full of history and lovely staff. They have done some major remodeling and upgrading. Our bed was sooooo comfy and the tv and bathroom were brand new. "Beach, Zoo, Aquarium and Diamond Head"
If you are looking for a great place to stay for less, then staying at the Queen Kapiolani, should be the choice for you. The room we stayed in had a great view of Diamond head and a partial view of the beach. The room was large clean and comfortable with new large screen TV. The front office staff are very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping kept our […] room clean, they are also very friendly and helpful with information about the area. If you are planning on enjoying planned excursions then the Queen Kapiolani is the hotel. Most excursion companies pick-up and drop-off at the hotel. The hotel even has an excursion company located on the main floor of the building. A second company also has ocean toys for rent, ie body boards, snorkeling equipment, etc. A gift shop is also located on the property with all sorts of items. My wife and I were to busy exploring the area that we did not get a chance to enjoy the pool. While staying at Queen Kapiolani you are within walking distance to the Beach, Zoo, Aquarium and Diamond Head. A bus ride on the #24 bus will take you to Hanauma Bay, one of the best sites for snorkeling within the Hawaiian Islands. We would defiantly stay at Queen Kapiolani again. "You get what you pay for"
Things I did not like: Requesting and paying for a king size bed but getting double beds, being charged $100 upfront without being told when making the reservation (the charge is reimbursed at check-out, I am told), $25 a night parking fee (not too steep, but it felt like another hidden charge), smelly room (like stale smoke), poor upkeep of room (scratched […] paint on doors, very dated furniture and appliances), no fitted sheet on beds. "A wonderful experience"
The Queen Kapiolani is an older hotel but such a gem. The people really make it special. The front office staff, maids and everyone involved in this hotel put in an extra effort to smile and be helpful. We stayed in a corner room up high (1502) that had a wonderful view of Diamond Head which is very close (walking distance). It was showing it's age […] but we both enjoyed the views and the breezes. Never used the AC. Next time I'm going to get one of the rooms with a kitchen (which I didn't know they had) as i don't like eating out all the time. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
