The hotel was in a great location, and was very nice. They were out of the room type we origanally booked, so at check in they upgrade us to a suite. The room was very nice. The hotel service was awful though, and I think this ruined the entire experience. We chose to pay for valet parking since it was only a few dollars more than personal parking. When we wanted to leave there was no valet person outside. We went to the front desk and asked where he was and all they said was that we had to wait because he was probably getting a car. 20 minutes later there were multiple people outside waiting for valet, we went back to the front desk to say something but the person was on the phone and did not even acknowledge we were there, finally the valet came from inside the hotel and got everyones vehicle. I just think that it was ridiculous for what we paid for valet parking.

A nice hotel on Bourbon Street should be cleaner than Bourbon Street. I was hoping for a sanctuary from downtown New Orleans, but the entire hotel felt run down due to its location. Also, they didn't honor my reservation for 2 beds and gave me a single and a rollaway. I will not stay here again, and will think twice before booking another Wyndham property.

This was a great value in a very pretty hotel one block off Bourbon without the noise. We requested an interior room thinking at this low rate they would put us on the street, but front desk was extremely friendly and found an interior room. Hotel restaurant for breakfast one of the best; super bar; nice to have Red Fish restaurant connected to hotel. Would go again -- this coming from two who used to live there and who have visited dozens of times.

I stayed there over Halloween weekend - reading the review I expected a very nice hotel with great amenities. I walked into the room expecting it to look like the pictures on the website - instead of a charming New Orleans type room, it was a very basic room, not as comfortable as I would have expected. The carpets and bathrooms needed to be upgraded. There were many stains in the hallways and the rooms were noisy. There were no amenities - not even a coffee maker. My friends stayed at the Astor across the road and said it was wonderful. Next time - thats where I will stay.

The only disappointment was the fee for parking our truck, undisclosed at the check-in, and it was nearly $30 more per day. THAT was a bad way to inform us as it was slipped under our door the morning we were to check out. Otherwise, fantastic and wonderful hotel. Charles, the concierge, was fantastic!

You may choose to request an inside room vs one with a window if noise interferes with your sleep - noise at ALL hours. The hotel itself is conveniently located. Be prepared to have a missing coffee pot or iron or something. We had 2 different rooms and each was missing something we needed; however, the staff brought it up promptly. Also, I needed laundry service which is supposed to be same day service (during the week). I dropped my pants off on Sunday to have done on M and that never happened. I got them on T but they never charged me.

Cost $9.95 a day, which in this day and age a total requirement. They say that they are under contract with a provider from the previous owner, but like all contracts it can always be broken. They are just enjoying the benefit of charging you this price because they get a cut of the sur-charge. They seem to believe that since you are paying high dollar for your stay, that you wouldn't mind paying for your internet as well; while other chains offer it for free, example Holiday Inn.

I really enjoyed the hotel overall. The hotel bar was nice and the staff was friendly. The location was perfect. You walked out of the side door and were on Bourbon Street in 100 yards. I had two minor problems that weren't that big of a deal but wanted to let others know. We did not have an ice bucket in our room we called down to get one sent up, 2 hours went by and we received nothing. We called back down they said they would have one sent up. They then called back 30 minutes later saying they were out of ice bucks. (Don’t know how you are out of ice buckets) The next day we called again they still didn’t have any ice buckets and the night before we left they brought us an ice bucket. They had three elevators and only 1 worked each day. It took the one elevator forever to work and there were only 4 floors in the hotel

When we checked into the hotel, the room was very warm (85 dagrees, 99% humidity outside). Supposed the AC had just been turned on. Upon returning to the room at 2:00 AM, the room was still very hot and stuffy. Upon calling the desk, a key for another room with working AC was immediately delivered, but we had to move at 2:00 AM after a night on the town. A bellman's cart along with the key would have been helpful. Things do break down, but someone (maybe housekeeping) should have caught this earlier. At the beginning of our stay, only 2 of 3 elavators were working. Over Saturday and Sunday, only 1 of the 3 elevators was working. Hotel staff was very cordial. The room was generally well appointed, except there was only one chair in a large room with two beds. The Hotel is within a converted department store building, making for an odd layout. However, IMHO the historic nature of the building makes up for the lack of windows to the outside; most windows face a courtyard or atrium (so most need not fear Bourbon St. noise).

The hotel room was huge by New Orleans standards. It is one block from Bourbon Street and one block from Canal Street, where you may want to catch a street car. I would highly recommend asking for a room on a high floor facing the courtyard. We went up for Voodoo Fest and on Halloween night the party never stopped, which is fine for New Orleans but not fine if you want to sleep around 3,4,5,6 a.m. I can't stress that enough. The first couple of nights were fine with us, we liked the atmosphere, but by day 3 it was not so nice. Other than that, we will stay here again. The room and location cannot be beat!

I recommend this hotel the location is great, Bourbon St. is right outside the door, Canal street is a little over a block away and all of the other attractions are within walking distance. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. I booked an extra night just because I enjoyed the hotel and its location. The parking is $27 a day for self parking located directly across the street or $31 a day for valet. The only thing that was challenging was during any major event police block off the streets to control traffic and the street the hotel is on is one of the streets they block off every night so you have to prove to them you are staying at the hotel so make sure you have something on you to show that (room key) worked as proof. Again the hotel was great.

Check in went well, and the front desk and bellmen did a good job. The lobby has character and charm. The elevators were really slow...ok, but the hallways were exceedingly hot and humid (I saw a thermostat in the hall and it read 82 at one point). The rooms were cool and comfortable, but could have been cleaner. Maybe I'm a stickler, but there were several long hairs on the floor of the bathroom and on top of the nicely starched white blanket cover. Yuck. Also, there was no minibar, which would have been nice in a place where it is so hot. The pool area was nice and the bar service there was attentive. However, we tried to have a room service breakfast, and were told "someone would call us back." Twenty minutes (!) later, no one had called, so I called again and was told they didn't know why I hadn't been called but "would try to get someone to call us." Finally, someone did, and took our order, and the breakfast was very good, and the service nice. The same thing happened the next morning. The hairdryer in our room didn't work, and I called the desk who said housekeeping would bring me one, but no one ever came. The location was good, walking distance to many restaurants and clubs. However, the front facing rooms are loud because of the proximity to Bourbon St., so I would ask for a courtyard/pool facing room. I hate to leave a bad review, because I do think the people who were there to help did a good job, but they were understaffed and it showed. I would probably stay elsewhere next time.
