"One wedding that seemed more like a party."
06/26/14 Britton S Citrus Heights, California
There are a lot of things that go into picking a hotel to stay at. My personal criteria is simple: a clean room, a roof over my head, a shower, and a bed to sleep in. During a much heated debate on "where to stay" for a massive family exodus (we were traveling to Martinsburg for a wedding of which most of the wedding guests had to travel from California), it was decided that this hotel will be ground zero for the guests of this wedding. We could not have picked a better hotel. The location did happen to be close to the wedding but it was also in a great location within the city. It is close to several food locations, close to the freeway so you can get your "sight seeing" on, and if you really felt like it you could go shopping at the mall that is a stones throw away. The rooms were clean and the service staff was wonderful. Whenever I encountered any of them, they would make sure that I had everything I needed. The little restaurant that was in the hotel was nice and the staff were fun to talk to. I recommend the Sunday Brunch. Its a little more expensive than the standard breakfast and lunch but you get a wider selection of food including fresh made waffles, fried chicken, BBQ ribs and some other nice food assortments that you will have to go there to see for yourself. The room I had was a "2 room suite" which was perfect for my use. I had regular guests (other people attending the wedding) that would stop in and go over various things for the wedding (car pool, rehearsal dinner plans, etc.) and the separate space between my bedroom and this "sitting room" was perfect. I honestly don't know if I will ever have the opportunity to go back East anytime soon, but I do know that I will be staying at this hotel if it is possible.
"Business Trip to Martinsburg"
06/25/14 Michael R Raleigh
The only 3 star hotel I could find in Martinsburg was the Holiday Inn which they advertise as a quaint, quiet hotel in a small city. It was on I-81 and the noise from the interstate truck traffic was horrific. My room smelled of musty A/C and the room service food, was, well, enough to keep me up all night. I guess families traveling on summer vacation can put up with this, but it is anything but a business hotel.
"Good choice if you find yourself in Martinsburg, WV"

After driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and part of the Skyline, we needed to find a hotel that had a room for us and my friend's two dogs. The Holiday Inn fit the bill; the room was clean and we were put on the floor where the lobby was located, which helped with the dogs. The only suggestion I can make is to call the hotel directly, as trying to book through the Holiday Inn main number was nearly impossible. Part of the problem was using a cell phone while traveling, which meant being cut off repeatedly, but kudos to the customer service guy who called back several times to make our reservation. He ultimately was cut off for good, but he sure did try.
"Nothing's Been Done"

I reviewed this property last fall. At that time I said it needed a complete makeover. Nothing has been done. The air in the halls are stifling. They do not pump A/C into the halls. Trying to save $? Hardly anyone eats in the restaurant either. Either new ownership or new management is necessary. I'm guessing it's the ownership, because management wouldn't make it so uncomfortable for guests. We had such a sweet young lady at check-in, too. It's a shame they are letting this property go as they have.
"Traveling around DC"

My family and I stayed here last night. The hotel is clean and in an easy location. The staff s very friendly and helpful when we needed extra blankets. We will definitely stay here again. It wasn't too far from DC
"Was very convenient to where we need to be"

The hotel was clean and people were very polite and helpful. we had the barking dog in the next room when we first checked in. We went to the front desk and they gave us a new room without any problem and were very nice about it

The hotel room was comfortable, the breakfast was included and tasty, but the staff was not interested in our needs or comfort. I told them my husband has difficulty walking, and they placed us in a room at the top of a ramp. When I asked for something easier to walk to, the desk clerk was pretty indifferent. So was the manager who heard the whole thing. I also did not feel there was much of any recognition of my platinum elite status with IHG. I did finally find that by parking near a door into another floor, we could access the elevator to our floor and the room was then not on an upslope. We would not return to this hotel.
"Great place to stay!!!!"
04/17/14 Lisa L Charleston, West Virginia
I travel to this area usually once or twice a year and I have never stayed here. This came as a recommendation from my husband who had stayed there last year and was very pleased by the accomodations and the friendly staff. I was only able to stay one night but everything was great. The location is perfect! I would like to thank Sandie Ridenour for all her help as well. I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the area.
"Just a Getaway"

I had a peaceful time. The staff was great, the restuarant and lounge was nice. Everything was close by. Harpersferry is worth the trip as well, the other stores are close. Movies are close, and many other places to eat are near by.
"A comfortable hotel"

I stay at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg for business when I'm in that town. The staff at the hotel are responsive and accommodating. It is nice to be greeted with a smile by staff when arriving. The rooms are large and spacious and the climate control is quiet and keeps the rooms at an even temperature. The rooms are also very clean and the pillows quite soft. The hotel has a restaurant on the ground floor that is actually quite good. I had the Delmonico steak, which was cooked to perfection. The waitstaff were quite pleasing as well. The breakfasts, however, are not included in the price of the room. While the stay is quite comfortable, two suggestions would make the hotel more pleasing: 1.) The coffee both offered on the ground floor by the restaurant and in the room, is quite weak. One of my least favorite things about traveling is having to wake up to weak coffee. 2.) The internet access, while free, is quite spotty. In addition, you are required to put in your password several times throughout the day to reconnect. This flaw was a little irritating. However, the hotel would get high marks for cleanliness and other comforts.
