It’s changing rapidly as brand-new buildings supersede those barely a couple of decades old. South of the World Trade Centre roundabout, eye-catching chrome and glass high-rises pierce the skyline. I was not impressed at all. The hotel was not busy and certainly not fully booked yet the two rooms I booked did not get cleaned till the afternoon (every day)!! The cleaning was minimal. I had to ask for connecting rooms to be near my children; rooms were available but the staff would not allow us to take them and had to ask the manager!!!!

The hotel although somewhat dated is extemely functional for transport, taxis are never any problem infact there always a line of them waiting also the 2 biggest malls in the world are only a cuple of miles either side of the hotel namely "Mall of the Emirates" and "Dubai Mall". There are free shuttle buses to the sister hotel in the marina where you can pay a small fee to use the facilities

I stay at the Metropolitan on business regularily due to the location within Dubai (well located for Jebel Ali industrial area) The Hotel was one of the originals to be built and as such it is showing its age a little. Sits right on Sheikh Zayed Road and is surrounded by construction (although where in Dubai isn't?) Very popular with the ex-pat community and the Red Lion pub is always popular showing all the UK sport. Excellent fish (top floor) and Chinese restaurant (2nd floor) and 'al fresco' Italian in the garden area. Very popular nightclub with live music on site (Rattlesnake) but not suitable for the easily offended - you have been warned! Reasonable pool complex with swim up bar. You can also use the leisure facilities of it's 5* sister hotel (the Grand Habitoor) on Jemeira Beach for a small fee - well worth it! All in all if you are not looking for a top notch (expensive) hotel then it is worth considering the Metropolitan.

I recently stayed at this hotel in Dubai (Jan 4-6) and one of the days found the hotel to have NO power at all from early in the morn until 6ish in the evening. I thought this quite hopeless and the hotel didn't even have generator backup for their guests, so it was darkness all day. This hotel is a far way out from attractions and you need to get a cab to most things, which could jack up the price a little, be sure to ask about the shuttle bus to and from the hotel to the airport it's free!

Bon rapport qualité-prix. Bien situé et personnel accueillant
