You cannot stay closeer to the airport. You walk from the Hotel elevator across to the the departure gates. Staff was very helpful with directions on using the train to get into the city.

The staff were very friendly and courteous. Good location for shopping as well as for lovers of art. All major fashion brands are represented in the neighbourhood. The hotel appeared old from the outside but it is sparkling clean inside.

We liked the hotel and would stay there again. Staff was accommodating and helpful during our stay. Hotel and rooms were clean. Rooms were spacious. The room options are confusing. We reserved 3 standard rooms, one of them had a kitchen for the same price but no silverware/china/pots. We did not spend Euro 15 for breakfast there. A butcher and baker are in walking distance and serve breakfast there too. Several restaurants nearby. Commuter rail to Duesseldorf not too far away.

The hotel has rooms in several buildings in the area. That means that you will not necesseraly get a room at the building with the reception an breakfast rest/café. The room we got was surprisingly big. Dont expect 5 star room, but with the great location I would stay at this hotel again.

I thought it was very good and would not hesitate to stay there again. Entry to train station just outside the door. Very easy access to the Essen... Autotechnica which is why we were there. I will never come back !!! The location is central but unsafe and surrounded by drunk and homeless people who are very aggressive. The sanitary standard around the hotel compound is awful, it smells like a public restroom. The Queen size beds only come with twin sheets, not international standard at all. Not even alarm clocks or any kind of time devices […] in the rooms, no IPad or music device either. The coffee in the lobby got removed over the weekend. So no coffee for people who are staying over the weekend then!! One telephone call to the US will be charged with $ 1.30 per minute. That is outrageous and not 2012 at all. Very rough towels and no cosmetic products but soap in the rooms. No bellman or any help offered while checking in. This stay in an apparently 4 star hotel was the worst experience since a long long time. Any red roof motel can do better !!!!!!! Read more

I had to visit Dusseldorf for a trade show. The hotel was a great cost effective place to stay right across from the main train station, small shopping district nearby. The train ride was about 30 minutes into Dusseldorf.

I loved the location of this hotel. Literally right across the street from the main train station and in the middle of the city center and shopping. The rooms are large and comfortable as are the bathrooms. The daily breakfast featured many items. I will stay there again and highly recommend it to all who want to be in the center of it all!

Chose the Movenpick Hotel due to it's proximity to the main railway station as we were travelling from Dusseldorf and on to Witten with an overnight stay in Essen to take in the Red Dot Museum at Zollverein (which was excellent). Our room on the 3rd floor was fine but we couldn't get the Air Conditioning to go lower than 19 degrees so the room was quite […] stuffy. We opened the windows but because the room was front-facing there was quite a lot of noise from the street below. The area in front of the hotel is unfortunately 'inhabited' by a posse of early/all-day drinkers who appear to use the adjacent subway underpass for a toilet. Obviously this is not the hotels fault but it does detract from the overall impression. The reception staff were friendly and spoke English but the girl on reception when we arrived seemed at a loss when asked to recommend somewhere to eat and/or have a beer. Perhaps they could be better trained-up on the local eateries? All in all I would recommend the Movenpick - but only if you need to be near the station like we did. Read more

Et helt greit sentrumsnært hotell - verken mer eller mindre. Ettersom vi bestilte gjennom hotels.com var ikke frokost inkludert og det ville de ha EUR 19,- pr dag pr pers. På 3 døgn ville det blitt EUR 114,- ekstra for oss 2... Nett kostet også ekstra, de fylte ikke opp minibar og fakturerte derfor dobbelt da de mente vi hadde tatt det samme neste dag. Bra hotell med super beliggenhet. Det var stille på rommet til tross for plasseringen midt i sentrum. Intet negativt å bemerke og et helt greit 4 stjerners hotell. Kommer nok tilbake.

Für Nutzung der Bahn/S-Bahn optimal gelegen. Mit PKW schlecht, da nur 3 Kurzparkplätze vor der Tür. Öffentl. Garage ist 200 m entfernt und befindet sich dzt. in Restaurierung. Lautes Umfeld. Einfache Zimmer. EZ aussagem. meistens sehr klein. Restaurantkarte sehr übersichtlich. Personal bemüht - an der Rezeption auch kompetent und freundlich.

Hotellet är ett typiskt tyskt 4-stjärnigt hotell. Ett hotell med ett antal år på nacken, men väl underhålet och i gott skick, om man kan bortse från "80-tals inredningen", dock skall sägas att matsalen var nyrenoverad i mycket smakfull stil. Hotellet har ett ypperligt läge, och servicen var oklanderlig. Bland det bästa du kan få i Essen.

... Zimmer im 5. Stock sehr laut. Bis nach 2.00 Uhr nachts ein Wummern und Klopfen von den Waschmaschinen und Wäschetrocknern, die in den benachbarten Servicezimmern liefen. Mein Tipp: Diese Zimmer beim Check-in unbedingt vermeiden. Ansonsten ein gutes Hotel mit bequemen Betten und reichhaltigem Frühstücksbuffet.

Wij gingen naar Essen om de kerstmarkt te bezoeken. Deze begon direct voor de deur van het hotel. Het ontbijt was goed en uitgebreid. Het hotel bezit een bar waar je gezellig wat kan drinken
