"Beautiful Hotel"
It's in the financial district, but there's easy access to city center by metro. The only complaint is that it was difficult to get train tickets at the station and the hotel could not print them for us. Everything else was fine!

"I'll be back"
The carpet in the room was worn out in one spot, but aside from that it was a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely nice & helpful. They offerd to bring us breakfast at 530am even tho the kitchen didn't open until 730 because we had an early flight & would be missing the breakfast buffet. They were also very helpful with directions to every place we wanted to go to & it's next to the one of the metro lines so getting there from the airport was extremely simple. it's a hotel that still has that classic feel to it & the food was delicious. Definitely looking forward to staying here again whenever I return to Madrid.

"Great location, used to be a wonder but now OLD"
The hotel has a great location, and it was a great hotel but it is aging. The rooms are out of date, the rugs are in terrible condition (although some have been replaced with wood flooring). The staff is pretty helpful with some exceptions.

"It´s a scam."
They announce the hotel as a 5 star and is not even a 3 star. If you expect to be at a good hotel, don´t come to this one. Facilities are old and dirty. Rooms are not renovated, carpets are at least 25 years old and ripped. Beds are very old and uncomfortable and bathrooms are in bad shape with hair dryers of the seventies, that burn your hands when used. The worst experience ever.

The room needed updates. For the price I expected more and I was surprised to learn that it cost an extra 20 euros per day to use the pool (pictured as part of the hotel) because it's inside the hotel "spa".

was absolutely brilliant, high standards throughout the hotel. sadly we were only there for a short stay. it's perfectly located in the city. only fault I could pick was the beds, was suppose to be a double bed, but was 2 single beds together instead. other then that the hotel was perfect. had options that catered to my coeliac diet so all around great hotel. highly recommend it.

"In need of revamping"
We've stayed at the Miguel Angel several times in the past and it is clear to us that the hotel needs a major revamp. Our rooms were confortable and the linens fine but the rugs are in shreds, desintegrating. Breakfast was great and the service all around excellent. I hope they take care of this soon, it would be a pity to watch this hotel ruin.

"Borderline 5 star but very conveniently located"
Located right beside a Metro station which allows easy access to all of central Madrid. Clean with pleasant staff but rooms small and rather tired and old fashioned. One major gripe is that you have to pay an extra 20 Euros per day to use their pool/spa which is rather a con for a supposed 5 star hotel. Summary: fine as a business hotel, great for somewhere to sleep whilst visiting Madrid but rather characterless and nothing to enjoy in the hotel inself

"Comfortable and Welcoming"
Very comfortable room! Had a great night's sleep and felt very welcomed. The carpet was in need of replacement and the shower went from hot to cold very quickly constantly but the aircon kept us cool and the room felt spacious and the large windows gave the room a lot of light. The breakfast was very good with an array of cold and hot food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall an incredibly well-run hotel and comfortable stay. Will be returning again in the hopefully near future.

"Like a time capsule....in a bad way."
Hotel is well past its prime. It needs to be totally redesigned and updated. The floral smell in reception is awful. The gym has no equipment. The pool is not much larger than a postage stamp. The carpets are very worn and the fabric on the walls is simply gross. The breakfast room smells like a book that hasn't been opened in a century. The wifi works well.

"Trading on former glories"
Can't fail to be impressed when you walk into the grand marble reception area. Approaching the desk, we encountered, at best, disinterested service. Room not quite ready, we were asked to take a seat for five minutes. Approaching some ten minutes later Esther barked at us to sit and wait. When she came over to us a moment later, the key was handed over and before I could say "what time's breakfast?" She was gone. Poor start. Our room was tired. Some might say shabby. On opening the wardrobe we found water running down from the ceiling into it. A call to reception had a repair man in a moment. He decided it couldn't be fixed and Esther was on the phone, offering to move us. She said the bellboy would join us and move our luggage to our new, superior room. When he joined us he gave us a new key. And left. No offer to move the luggage. That summed up our stay. Lots of promise that it didn't really deliver. Iron and ironing board had to be requested from reception. It was like something from the 60s. Bedside radio (not working) was the push button variety that Sean Connery might have come across staying in Blowfelt's lair circa 1965. Woodwork chipped throughout. Toilet plumbing hanging off. Just shabby. For the money we paid, and it wasn't cheap, I expected better.

We spent 4 nights in Madrid while attending a family birthday celebration. We choose this hotel as the whole package (flights and hotel) were very reasonably priced, and the proximity of the hotel was close to other family members.

"Trip to watch Liverpool"
Stayed here on trip to watch Liverpool play Real Madrid , hotel was perfect for bernabue stadium 15 minute walk . Hotel bar really expensive 20 euros for a lager , vodka lemonade ,we used the local bars around corner so much cheaper and tapas thrown in .hotel next door to underground easy to get around , would stay here again but would not use bar at these prices which is a shame

"Nice hotel suited to business occasions"
Very handy for metro, the concierge was brilliant as was Villar the breakfast waiter, which made our stay memorable. Rooms were clean the hotel is looking a bit tired but overall was satisfactory for a short break.

"Not worth the 5 Star badge."
We booked 2 rooms for a leisure break especially for the hotel's Spa as it has been rated as one of the top 5 in Madrid. Check in was good, Staff friendly but we were never told at check in on the closure of the Gym and Spa as it was their summer holiday ! We had to find out the next day when we wanted to use the facilities that it was closed. We were not offered any alternative use of such facilities nearby either until 3 days into our stay when we had to ask if there were such facilities nearby. The rooms were decent but need renovating even though we had asked for their "newly renovated" rooms at check in. The bar and cafe staff poor understanding of English so ordering was difficult unless spanish was spoken. One afternoon, we sat outside but had to look for the waiter and go the bar counter to order drinks and snacks. The breakfast was fair but very expensive for what it was. The meal at M29 restaurant was also expensive and not value for money. Overall very expensive for meals, food and parking combine this with the service, very poor value. Check out was very poor, just presented with bill to check and asked for my credit card. No smile, no questions asked about our stay, not asked if we need transport or assistance with our luggage. Have travelled extensively over the last 30 years and this is by far the worst experience received from a 5 star hotel. I would rate this an overall 3 Star at best. Will not stay here again nor recommend the hotel.
