"Over Priced, low quality hotel."
This hotel was a huge disappointment to me. I normally stay at the Marriott but this time, I stayed at the Westin because of the location and the price through Expedia. My experience was not good. I have some food allergies, so I normally need a small refrigerator in my room. I asked 4 times for a refrigerator, each time, the people were friendly and […] said they would accommodate but the refrigerator was never delivered. Finally, at 8:30 pm, when I really wanted to get ready for bed, I called again and expressed my frustration, which finally resulted in a delivery of the fridge. From that point forward, there were many issues, the bathroom sink leaked, the maid did not deliver new cups for water, etc. The only thing that was reliable was the valet. "Great location and quiet room"
We loved the location of this Westin because it is very close to bus lines that took us to North Beach, Chinatown, Haight, and other tourist type locations. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the Ferry Building, and an even shorter walk to Union Square. There are numerous coffee and sandwich shops within a couple of blocks. We rarely heard any sounds from other guests, even though there seemed to be a lot of guests, based on the elevators and lobby area. The staff at the desk and at the concierge station were knowledgeable, courteous and quite helpful. We needed to book a last minute stay near the financial district of San Francisco, so we were expecting to pay through the nose. We were very happy to find the Westin looked comfortable and was reasonably priced. We saw that parking was $60/night, so we parked at a nearby lot and walked over. We had a beautiful city view, all the way to Alcatraz Island and the Bay Bridge in the distance. The room was spacious by SF standards and the bed linens were 100% cotton and very fresh. Although we could hear the elevator, the hotel provides a white noise machine that masked the sound just fine. We probably could have switched rooms if the sound bothered us, but we didn't want to give up our view! From the hotel, we were able to walk to Yerba Buena Gardens, which has a children's museum as well as other attractions. Many restaurants and museums are within walking distance. Everything was great except for the hotel bar. Bar staff treated my 22 year old children very rudely. Didn't wait on them and even commented on how they hated serving young people. I rated the room of 2 star due to the bathroom. Although I didn't spend most of my time in the room cause I was out all day... I think that the bathroom disgust me the most. It smell like feces. I started to investigate where the aroma was coming from and realized the rim of the base of the toilet had a streak of feces. They send housekeeping to the room to clean it but knowing this completely upset me and made me disgusted with the hotel. For this reason, I do not recommend this hotel. If u don't care for cleanliness and only concern urself with location then this is a good hotel cause of location. Market street is the best location for hotel stay cause all the stores, restaurants and etc are located there plus transportion. You will find the cable car, bus, trolley and other transportation stop on the market st strip leading u all over San Francisco. If you decide to go to Westin wish u a better experience stay there. As for me, no more stays at the westin not at San Francisco or anywhere. This is not my first time staying at a Westin hotel... Didn't like it in Ny and the one in San Francisco. In both hotel found it to be filthy. Courtyard Marriott is cleaner and nicer furniture for less. Don't believe me check them out yourselve and you will see. It's truly ashame...
