Loved the hotel. Easy to get to from the airport. We were able to check in early for a small fee which was very helpful since we had flown all night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Meets basic needs - don't expect much"
I'm a pretty no frills traveler - all I require is "safe and clean". The hotel was safe, but cleanliness is an issue. Mold on the bathroom walls, peeling paint from the ceilings, broken telephone, stained blanket, and a mattress that was stained by something that could have been blood or old coffee (I only discovered this as I was checking out!). The […] heater rattled loudly at night, and there is noise from the street. The walls are thin, and I was woken every night by other guests in the hallway or in their rooms. The hairdryer is for some reason attached to the desk in such a way that the only way to use it is if you are kneeling (clearly, a woman did not design this!). The faucet on the bidet was broken. The hotel is quite a walk to city center (about 20-25 minutes), which can be hard if you are the kind of traveler who likes to put your feet up for part of the day. The property is in massive need of refurbishing. You can tell the hotel was once very lovely (perhaps in the early 90s), but has not been cared for much since then. I would not stay here again. I was not sad to leave. On the neutral side, the bed is quite firm. That's great if you like firm beds. It's not great if you prefer soft beds. On the positive side, I will say the staff was very nice and kind. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ballsbridge Hotel (previously D4 Ballsbridge Inn)"
My husband and I stayed at the Ballbridge Hotel (known at the time of our booking as the D4 Ballsbridge Inn) over St. Patrick's weekend with our friends. Our hotel room was spacious, but left something to be desired. The television was tiny compared to the room and was impossible to watch from the bed. Our room was missing a trash can, so our trash […] ended up on the floor next to the tiny bathroom trash can. There is no information book in the room, so we had to guess how to call the front desk and from room to room. Our bed also had a mattress pad instead of a proper mattress. Also, although the staff were not rude, they did seem indifferent about our comfort or happiness. The hotel has apparently been recently purchased by new owners and renamed, so they could not bring us a new information book and refused to bring us an old one. On the positive side, there was a closet with enough room to store both our bags and hang our clothes and the bathroom and bedroom were large and clean. The hotel is very close to the American and Israeli Embassies and an unfortunately long walk to the city center. The bus system in Dublin is fairly expensive, so it was a 40 minute walk to the Grafton Street area each morning. The hotel breakfast was expensive, so we walked into town to eat each day. All in all the Ballsbridge in is not a bad hotel, but it is certainly not great, and could use some improvement. For the location and price I think we could have gotten a better value hotel elsewhere. I would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"They don't acknowledge the guest."
My phone didn't work and when I mentioned this to the front desk in person they seemed non-plused at best. The heat was down, they didn't change out the glasses or clean them out sometimes and the bathroom smelled of mildew. While mentioned to the staff seemed to go unnoticed. It was too far from the center and their airport information changed with […] the staff. I asked for directions and got no response. Overall, I would have paid more for a better place had I known. "D4 Ballsbridge Inn"
This hotel is conveniently located near the U.S. Embassy and an assortment of museums on the southside of the city. An aircoach stop is located at the main entrance of the hotel, and a bus stops catering to several routes going to the city center is located right across the street. The reception staff were extremely helpful and happy to provide local […] information. I needed to meet a friend nearby and one of the receptionists looked up the address and printed the walking route for me. I really appreciated this kindness! My room was quite shabby in comparison to the modern and tasteful lobby. The wallpaper was peeling, there were several stains on the mattress (I always check a mattress for bedbugs...), the furnishings were dusty, and the curtains didn't close all the way. That said, the linens were clean and the bathroom was pleasant and a decent size. One hope that renovations to the rooms are forthcoming at this location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Really good hotel.Booked it to go to the RDS horse show. Not too far to walk to the show. Aga Khan special dinner was lovely. Breakfast good. Staff friendly and obliging. Only gripe was that the room on the 8th floor was lacking in air and stuffy, caused by the restricted window opening and no air con. The location of the hotel is good. But upon arrival, our room was not clean , dirty carpeting , room Air conditioning was not working and we were told that they could not fix it. The Room Service Quality was very poor, with 2 items not available, food was over cooked and not palatable. The same results when using the restaurant as an option. Have stayed here many times there is always a smell of the shower curtain and bathroom which is a pity as staff etc is excellent. The room was disgusting. I was in the towers - room 845. The carpet was dirty and stained. The couches also torn and stained. The walls were dirty. The bath was dirty from the previous person. The hairdryer that was in the room disappeared day 3 and was replaced by one that didn't work. There was the WORST SMELL in the room. I left the window open all […] week and it still smelled. "Very central but quiet location"
Will certainly be back to the Ballsbridge Hotel. Great location & great value for money. It is a twenty minute walk to central Dublin but it's only a few minutes walk to DART station if you're not feeling that energetic. Parking is an extra €10 per night and after we checked out we were allowed leave our car in the car park until we returned in the […] evening which was great. "Terrible customer service"
The staff in this hotel are completely incompetent. They charged my card twice upon checking in. They claimed to have voided the transaction but 1 week later the money still hasn't appeared back in my account. Be very careful dealing with the staff in this hotel. In addition the reception staff are rude and didn't handle my complaint very well. Even […] when I complained over email I never even got a reply. I would recommend you stay away from this hotel. There are much better hotels in Dublin in this price bracket. The rooms especially the bathrooms are very dated and if you unlucky enough to get one next to the lift then forget about getting a good nights sleep. Avoid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Third year in a row I've staYed in this hotel as I am part of an event run in the conference area. Every year its as disgusting as the last. "Strategic lack of investment leaves guests weary"
A 'victim' of Celtic Tiger lunacy, this hotel was traded like a blue chip Monopoly piece before becoming the mid-tier operation it is today, dedicated to extracting revenue from bleary-eyed tourists and travellers while investing as little as possible back into the property. I stayed three nights. Staff couldn't be nicer, which is lucky as I had lots […] of opportunities to deal with them. My first room was abandoned as heavy rain outside was pouring through the bay window. This was clearly not news to the hotel: the window was riddled with damage from what is clearly a chronic leak. Having moved, it became clear the next day that my second room's air con didn't work, though in fairness it was repaired quickly enough. A damaged shower head hung mournfully off the bathroom wall, reflecting the mood of the place. I was woken at 0700-0730 every morning by guests departing, despite being five or six storey up in the 'nice' bit of the hotel. When this forgivable noise (though soft-closing doors wouldn't go astray!) abated I was on one morning treated to the joys of a vacuum cleaner on the floor above. Just loud enough to keep me awake and totally unnecessary at 0900. I reiterate that the staff are excellent - in particular a cheery South African named Stephan and a happy, helpful Dub named Ciara - but aside from its location (about 10-15 minutes walk from Grafton Street) this hotel has little to recommend it. Spend your money on a good B&B instead. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Deluxe rooms and reception service poor"
Worst hotel stays I have ever had. Two nights booked in a deluxe room. First room the air con was not working. Staff offered a fan. Changed to another room and the carpet outside the bathroom was sodden and the room smelt damp so did the corridor. Complained but could not be moved until next day as fully booked. Told to pack my case in the morning and […] it will be taken to a classic room during the day ready for my return. Arrived at hotel around 6.30 pm and my case was still in my old room. Went to new room and had to wait 45 minutes for my case to arrive. That night about 3.00am someone opened door and walked in. They asked if this was his room!!!. At 7.00am the maid wanted to clean the room. At check out and the receptionist was surprised to find out out the I was in room 847 and not 258 which was still in her records. They had changed me to another room without updating their system. I mentioned my disgust about the who experience at the hotel and in particular the fact that someone had come into my room in the middle of the night. I was told that they have trainee staff. The desk reception manager was apologetic and said she could not give any significant compensation as the room was booked through hotels.com. I was still charged for the deluxe room rate although I had moved to a classic and they reduced the bill by just 50 euro. I would never stay in this hotel again. Bewleys Ballsbridge every time. "Good location but noisy rooms."
Our room was clean and well appointed, but we were unfortunately right next to the elevator, so very noisy with people coming and going, and you could hear the elevator going up and down all night. The hotel is on a main road so also lots of traffic noise. As there was no air conditioner, we had our windows open, so the noise was quite annoying. We […] also had to ask to have our swipe key reset 3 different times as it would not let us into our room. We we ate dinner in the Resturaunt with 6 other friends, but the main fish offering on the menu was not available, even though we had an early sitting and there were only 3 other tables. Also when a call was made to reception for some more milk capsules for tea and a roll of toilet paper, we were told that we would have to wait until housekeeping arrived...it was already 8:00am. I didn't find the staff to be overly helpful, but perhaps they were new. The hotel was full, so this may have been the reason why some standards seemed lacking. Overall we were disappointed with the decor, upkeep and quailty of the hotel. "Ballsbridge in April"
We found our stay at Ballsbridge to be very nice. The staff was great, and the location was nice. "One of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in."
Upon arrival to the hotel (which was over a mile away from centre - was informed it was only 0.2 miles prior to booking as I had arranged a surprise trip for my boyfriend) a room was provided after a lengthy delay. We went up to our room and put our card into the slot, opening the door we were greeted to another guest in his boxers. My boyfriend went […] down to reception to rectify the issue where we were told we had been 'upgraded' as a frequent traveler this was not the upgrade that we had anticipated. The new room (unoccupied this time) looked as if it hadn't been entered in 20 years. Despite our traumatic start we left the room to enjoy our break. After sampling plenty of the finest ales Dublin had to offer we returned back to the room and at approximately 7.30am we were rudely awoken by drilling and banging - we had not requested a wake up call. Now we understand that renovation was happening in the hotel but we did not expect it to be at this hour or when we were feeling as rough as we did. Upon raising the issue with the hotel staff they were unhelpful and unapologetic. Being awake we went to make the most of the day and left the hotel at 9am we returned at approx 5.30pm for a quick change to notice the "room ready for service" door hanger still placed upon the handle. Opening the door we realised that our room had not even been entered. Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't have been that bothered but when your boyfriend gets that drunk on his birthday and wakes up at the age of 25 having wet the bed that's when it becomes an issue. Furthermore upon leaving for a meal we informed the staff our room hadn't been cleaned to which there was no urgency to accommodate us. So again we enjoyed our evening and came back to our room about 11.30pm. Still to a dirty room. We decided to leave it to the morning where we'd address the issue again. 8am came and we were awoken by the drills again. We swiftly got ready and checked out, where I asked the complaints procedure and was Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
