"First class hotel"
spent two nights attending my grandson's college graduation. The hotel, room, food was top quality and my son and I were very impressed with all aspects of this hotel. Would gladly recommend to any travelers. The staff was always gracious and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great downtown location"
Very nice hotel. The room's temperature, as in so many hotel rooms, was difficult to control. It was quite warm. The next morning we had an appointment at 9 am. We called for our car and were disappointed to find that because of the Rose Parade it would take 50 minutes to get. Apparently we were supposed to have been informed by the person who checked […] us into the hotel the night before. That didn't occur. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My stay was wonderful., I love the friendlness of everyone who works at the hotel, and I enjoy the restaurant a great deal. Food and service all terrific. Also as a woman alone the people who serve and take care in the dining-room make it a very comfortable experience.I would recommend the otel to anyone looking for comfort and friendliness, and will […] go back whenever I return to Portland. "Fabulous hotel, amazing staff, great location"
The hotel is very conveniently located, in the center of downtown. It has been remodeled to take advantage of the best of the old and the new. The rooms are modern, with complimentary WiFi, lots of outlets, temp control, etc. and the bathrooms are superb with a zen like feel to them. They have wisely kept the 'old' in the common areas; the lounge and […] library, which are wood panelled, meticulously kept and beautiful. The staff could not be more accommodating: we traveled with a three year old; when we asked if we could buy some milk from the bar (we were out of it and it was late) they offered to send up a complimentary pitcher and put it in our mini-bar refrigerator. We had English tea in the lounge area and the staff remembered and delivered on our special needs: one 'regular', one 'pescatorian' and one vegan. Another guest staying here commented to us that they were doing some traveling to other cities, and based on this, will be seeking out Heathman hotels. We concur! "End of May business trip to Portland"
Online booking was simple, I've stayed here on prior visits to Portland, like the service, like the restaurant, the rooms are quite, clean, right around the corner from the train line!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Heathman: be sure of what you'tr getting"
Perfectly decent hotel but a bit overvalued price-wise. Booked deluxe king which has a very nice bed, though a little soft, and little room for anything else. If I stayed there in the future, would get something basic. Staff was ok, restaurant very good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"first class stay in the heart of Portland"
i enjoyed my quick three nit stay here. unfortunately I did not get to take advantage of the wine tasting at happy hour. the staff was pleasant and the car valets were awesome.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location but with trade-offs"
Conveniently located hotel in downtown Portland (SW area). Easy to reach from the airport and close to great restaurants, shops, and public transit for destinations that farther away. We did not need to rent a car at all. The downside of the convenience is that the rooms are not very large. Hotel is a historic building that is well appointed but noise […] is an issue. We can hear every sneeze and cough from the next room. When their alarm clock went off, easily woke us up as well. We literally thought we had set our own alarm by mistake because the sound was so close. In short, good hotel if convenience is important. Not the best place if you are looking to relax and sleep in on your vacation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
enjoyed the quiet, sedate atmosphere. Loved the Piano Bar,Library and history of the hotel and found the room service divine. Had two meals in the restaurant and found the staff and quality of service first class as well as the food prices. The location is perfect for enjoying Pioneer Square and great shopping.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Part of unique character of downtown Portland"
Very enjoyable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Grand old hotel"
A classic in downtown Portland, but with all the up to date amenities. The room was very nicely laid out and appointed, even though it was of modest size. We listened to jazz in the lounge, and enjoyed free wine tasting in the hotel's library of nearly 3000 books, each of which was written by a former guest and most of which were signed. There is a […] fully certified librarian who can tell you all the stories of the authors' stays at the hotel. Truly a delight. The only negatives had to do with how long it took to get served in the lounge and the restaurant, but I believe these were just momentary glitches. We will definitely return to the Heathman on our next trip to Portland. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for all ages."
My sister and I had a great stay at The Heathman Hotel. The restaurant served great food and the service was superb. The only complaint is that the space around the toilet and the door of the bathroom was cramped. We loved the beds!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel for a weekend get-away"
We had a great stay here. We enjoyed the jazz in the bar - it was very relaxing to sit there and read a book with the music in the background. The restaurant is also very good. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly and I appreciated that they didn't hang around for a tip all the time (which of course made me tip more). The only reason I rated […] the comfort of the room lower is that is was very small, but I think that is to be expected when you are right in the middle of a a city and you don't pay the equivalent of a month's worth of mortgage for a night's worth of stay. If I had to mention one specific thing I didn't like, it was that the sliding door to the bathroom was VERY stiff to operate. But the shower was very comfortable and the room had everything we needed and also some nice things that we enjoyed using, like the tea kettle that allowed us to actually boil water to make tea and coffee (which were also provided). Nice touch! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for anyone!"
Great location and friendly staff.......................Genuine Expedia guest review
Everything was great about our stay except in the morning. While we were sleeping housekeeping kept trying to come in (probably tried 3 times between 8am and 10am). We had to keep going to the door and letting them know we were sleeping even when our door was locked and sign up. Otherwise the hotel was beautifl, really convient, and staff was great […] . "The Heathman is fantastic!"
I highly recommend the Heathman. Great staff, luxurious rooms with super comfortable beds. Don't miss the chocolatier/ espresso bar in the corner of the lobby! The sipping chocolate is out of this world and the coffee is top notch. "Great hotel, disappointing breakfast experience."
The hotel was great. It is very sophisticated, yet comfortable. My only problem was our dining experience there. I so looked forward to breakfast in their dining room, because of prior experiences. Unfortunately, this time did not measure up. Our waitress, Kelsey, was more interested in telling us how busy she was instead of just waiting on us. We had […] to ask for coffee refills every time. Our food was barely warm from sitting in the window. We had an hour and 15 minutes till we had to leave and barely made it. We had to flag her down for everything because she was always talking to people about inane things like the busiest days of the year, the difficulty of making her own drinks if the bar is short staffed, she was so annoying and did not give us a good experience at all. Very nice downtown hotel. Great central location. I only tried the restaurant for breakfast but it was very good and I know that the restaurant has a good reputation with the locals. "Beautifully appointed rooms"
Our room was not spacious, but that is the only negative thing we could say about our stay at The Heathman. "Great older style hotel with exceptional service."
This is an especially charming, well kept hotel with fine amenities. Adjoining lounge with jazz in the evening a real plus for relaxation.Genuine Expedia guest review
I am allergic to dustmites so quality of bed and cleanliness of room are important to a goodnight's sleep. This was my third stay with Heathman and it was perfect as always. The French press is also a great touch, but the coffee provided pretty average.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Wish I could stay here all the time!"
I would stay here again in a heart beat. Wonderful amenities such as a french press and cotton balls! Turn down service included a bottle of water, ear plugs and eye mask. We did not need the ear plugs, as the hotel was nice and quiet. Great service in the bar and front desk. "Nice but tight"
This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel, the accomadations are really nice but the rooms are very small, as is the bathroom. If the hotel shifts a 1/4 inch the bathroom door will not close because it will hit the sink. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding is really nice. The location is great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved French Press in room! Had a corner room. Great view.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the main attraction!"
The Heathman was a great pick for me as I attended an event at the Snitzer...right next door. All the staff was great, going the extra mile to answer all my questions. The bed was great...hard, but not too hard...cozy. Everything was clean and neat.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A wonderful boutique hotel."
I've stayed at the Heathman multiple times, and find it to be an exceptional boutique hotel. The rooms, though smaller in size, have wonderful details such as comfortable chairs, excellent coffee you can prepare in a French press, and extremely good beds you can select from a menu. I love going into their bar/lounge in the evening; it's very comfortable […] whether I'm alone or with a companion. My only caution would be to allow extra time for valet car retrieval at times that are likely to be busy for their guests. They were unable to keep their 5-10 minute commitment one Saturday morning when several guests all needed to be across town for the same meeting. Something both I and the Heathman should plan better for next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good location renovated downtown hotel"
Tried this hotel for something new. As a frequent hotel guest (50-75 nights/year at hotels, mostly 4+ stars), I offer the following feedback: great beds, good downtown location and nice evening ambience in the lounge. Nicely renovated historic hotel. Drawbacks: no view (just buildings), no parking (expensive valet), no pool, and smallish rooms. We booked […] 2 nights at this hotel after reviewing its ratings. Apparently, this hotel had some mention in a popular novel, never a great way to pick a hotel.) Online booking stated it included parking but we were charged for 2 nights parking (plus a room upgrade). Took me an hour or more to access my email to prove to the disbelieving manager that the parking was included to get a credit on my bill. Would have expected to be believed (or that hotel would know their own offers), or that I would have received a credit for a room upgrade due to the hassle and time it took me to prove that our rate included parking. Got the credit for the parking, but unfortunately this soured the experience so service gets a lower rating. . Overall, a good hotel, probably best for couples, but traveling with kids, we will stay at the nearby Westin next time where we are Starwood members. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Central location for meeting friends"
We met our friends who flew in from Las Vegas for a quick visit. The hotel is in great physical shape, and all staff people had such pride in their hotel. We booked Renaissance Suite rooms, which have two baths. The rooms were very comfy and well-appointed. The dining room was also excellent and took care in particular of one member who was a vegan […] with no problem. We also enjoyed delicious cups of hot chocolate from CACAO by the fire in the tea room area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the price"
Good thing about this hotel is the location and it has a semi-important landmark situation (I don't understand why). Bad things are: rooms are not clean, some of them smell really bad, rooms are very small, everything looks old (maybe that's the charm) and the bed was super uncomfortable (others might like it but I couldn't sleep most of the night). […] I stayed in another hotel last year in the same neighborhood that is 30-40% cheaper with overall better quality and more comfortable rooms. I would be OK with this room if I paid 50% of what I paid, but for that price level I expect more. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Love staying here."
Have staying before, but in what seemed like a much larger room. Sink in bathroom was almost too small to wash hands!!! BUT overall we were very pleased to stay in Heathman again. Restaurant and hotel might communicate better. We foolishly assumed that guests of hotel could be assured a spot for breakfast - no.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The best part of the stay was meeting the hotel librarian. She hosts a wine tasting for hotel guests. The library showcases books written only by authors who have stayed at the hotel. "Great R&R home away from home"
I visited Portland with my daughter for a few days of R&R from Alaska. I had wanted to stay at the Heathman in city center since it is so easy to access from the airport using the MAX system. Most all you could want is within walking distance or using the MAX. The staff at the Heathman were super friendly and seemed to go out of their way to make sure […] we had everything we needed. The restaurant was wonderful with first class service and out of sight food. I have stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels before but I have to say that this is the best experience I have had to date. I will be back for sure within the next 12 months --- just for th fun of it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Go to Mothers Cafe for breakfast"
The hotel is very nice, however our room, #903, a queen room was very small, with a view of other buildings roofs. The only issue we had was in their restaurant the morning we left. I bought a bloody mary and the bloody mary mix was so harsh tasting that I couldn't even take a sip. It was a cross between Willamette River water and clam juice, it was […] terrible. I also had an omelette that was cold and wet in the middle. How do you mess up an omelette? Other than that it is still a very nice hotel. Next time I may stay across the street at the Hilton.
