"Great location to the railroad station"
The hotel staff was very attentive and friendly. We were able to walk directly to the railroad station the next morning at 5:00 AM within 3 minutes ( no need for a taxi). The hotel is older but very clean. My room had a kitchenette which would have been great if we were staying for an extended timeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Close to the Alaska railroad station, which is very convinience if you are going to take a train. Very kind and helpful staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"convient to the town."

"Located in great tourist friendly neighborhood"
The hotel is beautiful; looks like a 1950's hotel that's been completely remodeled, but still has the charm of that era. The down side of it is right next to the railroad yard and you can hear the trains at various times of the day and night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not your average hotel room"
I enjoyed the "one bedroom apartment" feel instead of a simple room with a bed. It was great having a mini kitchen and a separate bedroom. Didn't care for the $5 charge to use the internet to print a boarding pass etc.Genuine Expedia guest review
"anchorage grand hotel"
near the trainstation, friendly staff, not luxurious. A few blockd to the center of town and restaurants. Reasonably pricedGenuine Expedia guest review
"Just over the hill from downtown"
Nice small place, a few blocks from downtown. Easy walk unless it's really snowing. Quiet place except for the trains on the N. side that insist on blowing their horns even in the middle of the night. Close to the brewhouse and Snow Goose brewery. Continental breakfast is a bag of store-bought stuff - give it a pass. Rooms are big and beds are very […] comfortable, but bathrooms are very small with no counterspace. Good budget hotel close to downtown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Steps away from train station"
It was a large and comfortable room with a kitchen and sitting area. Much more spacious than I expected. The furnishings were practical, nothing lavish, but comfortable. It is the hotel closest to the train station and they help travellers get off for the early train.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Go with the Westmark"
I think this hotel is mainly for big families, or for people who are going to be staying in Anchorage for longer periods of time, and will therefore need a kitchen. The wifi is WEAK, their breakfast is SPARSE, and the have no other real amenities (i.e. there's no hotel bar, there's no coffee in the lobby, there's no fitness center, there's no hot-tub, […] etc). Great place for the money, kitchens are a real plus for longer stays, would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location next to railroad terminal"
This hotel was in an excellent location, next to railroad station. The rooms were huge and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I liked the continental breakfast that was delivered to our door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"comfortable stay; great location"
this was my 2nd stay here (in past 5 yrs). hotel employees were very friendly & helpful; my room/suite was large & very comfortable. I'll stay at here every time I need a room in Anchorage.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient to train depot"
the location is the best. you can walk down the ramp to the train depot or just a few blocks to the coastal trail or downtown. the neighbourhood looked clean and safe. we had a suite with a nice living room and a kitchenette which would be convenient if you plan on staying a few nights and like to cook something simple or just warm up leftovers. The […] continental breakfast include a bowl of instant oatmeal, a granolar bar, and a box of apple juice, all organic and healthy, delivered to your room. You do hear the trains sometimes but it did not bother us at all. We had a good night sleep. will definately stay here again if in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfortable place to stay!"
The room we had was very comfortable and quite large - included a mini kitchen. Very comfortable bed. I think we got a great deal through the internet because we paid a lot less than their standard discount rate (AARP). Only drawback is you can hear the trains coming through. It's within walking distance to many things in Anchorage. If we can get […] as good a deal, we would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the Alaskan Railroad"
The room was very spacious and well furnished. The location being close to the R.R. was excellent, since we were traveling by train to Seward the next morning. We did have to leave the windows open and use the fan provided to cool the room, so that we were able to rest at night. Since the room was rather warm when we arrived is was somewhat uncomfortable […] for quite a while. We would have preferred air-conditioning especially since it was late July. The biggest problem was the noise from the train whistle during the night since we had to leave the windows open. This did effect our being able to rest the night that we were there. Was worried at first, older hotel but has the most comfortable beds and pillows. We slept so good and the gentleman at the desk was so accomodating on giving us directions to restaurants. We were very pleased.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel met all our needs for our short stay in Anchorage. Walked to the train station. Hotel is in good shape despite being older. Surprisingly spacious. Our room was separate from the living space.Continental breakfast delivered to the room early in the morning. We got bagels and oatmeal. It is in a good location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel for the price"
This hotel was the best find we had in Alaska. It was a four room suite with a living room, kitchen (complete with dishwasher), bedroom and full bath. Each morning they would leave a continental breakfast at your door that you could prepare in your own kitchen. We got oatmeal, bagels, juice, and granola bars. Coffee and tea were already in the room. […] Each afternoon you could go to the front desk and get warm cookies. It's within an easy walking distance to downtown and the parking is included in the room fee. It doesn't look like the finest hotel but I would stay there again and again. "all blocks are very short in Anchorage"
It was a lovely hotel, very close to all downtown activities, personable and helpful front desk. 6 blocks takes about 4 minutes to walk. Directed us to the Snow City Cafe for breakfast (a must eat here place)- Thanks for making our stay in Anchorage nice. Close to the big walking trail.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Anchorage Stay"
We arrived before check in, but hotel was glad to keep our luggage until we returned to check in. When we returned our luggage was already in our room. A young lady named Georgia was more than helpful to us. Every requested we made to her was immediately full filled.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very noisy! Next to railroad. Whistles all night. Thermostat did not control room temperature. Our t-stat was in the off position but the heat never shut off. Will not stay there againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay"
This is a really nice place to stay in Anchorage. It has a great location being on the edge of downtown overlooking Ship Creek and the inlet; 5 minutes to trail and heart of downtown. The suites have a kitchenette, bedroom and living room. The bed is firm and very comfortable. "Convenience and home-like ambience"
The Grand is a converted apartment building on the edge of the Anchorage business district. The "room" actually consists of a bedroom, bath, living room and kitchenette. It is an older building, but has been well-renovated. It is in easy walking distance from most downtown businesses and offices. The Alaska Railroad terminal is just down the hill, and […] some people object to the train sounds, but others enjoy them. The only comfort and convenience drawbacks are that the lobby is down a couple of steps with no obvious access for people with mobility issues. Like most hotels in the far north, the Grand is overheated in the winter. If you are used to cooler inside spaces, you will need to turn the heat down a bit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Everything was quite splendid. The entire place was clean and well maintained. The bed was super comfy and very plush. The staff was very nice and helpful, and they even baked cookies for us! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was older, but updated and clean. Only complaint was the freight train running behind the hotel that blew it's whistle several times during the night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great hotel and spacious room!"
i was shocked at how big the room was! i don't know if all rooms are like this (with a kitchenette, separate bedroom, living room)..but i really loved the fact that it felt more "homey" than all the other hotels. bathroom was a bit small..but nothing to complain about. kitchenette had pots/pans/utensils/full fridge and freezer/plates/cups...but no […] dishwashing soap or sponge. my only complaint would have to be the way continental breakfast is served. you check if you would like it or not on a door hanger and leave it outside your door for someone to come by the next morning and drop it in front of the doorstep. they don't have a lobby or an actual room for the breakfast, so they deliver it to you. manageable..but breakfast was lame, consisting of plain bagel, cream cheese, breakfast bar, apple and can of apple juice. the oatmeal was worse of all..just add hot water. besides the breakfast, everything else is great..and it's definitely a short walk from the train station to the hotel (5 mins). "Enjoyed our stay"
Stayed for 2 Nights during Labor day weekend. Room was really comfortable. Carpet in the corridor was bit old and smelly. But otherwise hotel was very good. People in front desk were very helpful. "Anchorage Grand was a good choice"
Anchorage Grand Hotel is not brand new. That said, our stay was perfect. The rates are low. The accommodations included living room, bedroom, fully equipped kitchenette, and full bath. All were clean, clean, clean. Desk clerk was helpful and friendly. "Too close to the train station"
The hotel and room itself completely met our expectations. We were comfortable and thought the location was fine until the train came into the station at 4:30am and blew the whistle several times. While some guests may need to get up early to catch the train for other destinations, we did not and therefore left for our drive to Seward very tired. Only […] because of the train noise would we not stay here again. In every other way, the Anchorage Grand Hotel provided comfortable accommodations. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient to downtown Anchorage, great inside - close to train station (noise)"
Had a great week at the hotel, the suite style room with full kitchen (microwave, stove, refrigerator, dishes, dishwasher) was excellent for our type of trips trying to keep half of the meals done at "home". The hotel is right at the perimeter of downtown Anchorage, parking is free (at a pay parking lot but a pass is given daily for the lot by the hotel) […] which makes visiting downtown sites very easy, many within walking distance. The rooms were clean and furnished comfortably. One word of caution, if you are sensitive to noise this may not be the spot for you. Our room faced out directly towards the Alaska Railroad Depot and there are trains coming and going quite often, the horns were a familiar sound. It wasn't an issue in the middle of the night, but it was still noisy around 11:30pm. I don't mind train noise, but if you're wanting early nights it could be a problem. Otherwise I would fully recommend the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is older and well-maintained with a charming character. The room was more like a suite with a bedroom that had a good-sized closet, a tv, and a queen-sized bed. There was an a separate living area/room with a couch, desk, TV in an armoir. There was a kitchen with a stove/oven, toaster, dishes, dishwasher, fridge. There was another closet […] in the entry way. Everything was in good condition and I think the hotel was a superb value. Staff was competent and friendly. I chose this hotel due to its proximity to the train depot. A taxi from the airport was $20 and then we spent the night at the hotel and had sushi at a nearby restaurant. In the morning we walked to the train station (didn't even have to cross a street) and were on our way. I would definitely stay here again. It would be a good place for a couple or small family to use as a "base camp" to explore anchorage and still be able to cook for themselves and have lots of living space compared to the typical small hotel room. "Free Breakfast Was Pitiful"
My husband and I stayed two nights at this hotel and although we had a comfortable stay, I would not stay again unless I was planning to catch a train. This hotel is not located conveniently for shops and restaurants if you do not have a car. A 15min walk uphill will get you to a few cafes and souvineer shops, however, 5th St Mall is about a half hour […] walk. We arrived at 8pm and could find nowhere nearby to buy food and its quite seedy walking around the deserted streets. The free breakfast was pitiful. Delivered outside your door, it consisted of a stodgy muffin/museuli bar/apple juice popper and oats. Considering we've had complimentary breakfasts at several other hotels during our trip that were delicious, this one was very disappointing. It was a snack - not a breakfast. Location cant be faltered. Rooms out dated the decor but hotel staff lovely. The people cleaning rooms are rubbish didn't make beds properly forgot toilet paper ect. Great location except for the train station behind the hotel. The whistles are loud and start about 12 AM until 3AM. Front rooms would be best. The suite was very spacious and clean, but the noise from rail and road traffic at night was a problem. The continental breakfast was limited. Close location to the railway station was an advantage.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A good comportable clean hotel in a good location. A spacious clean, well appointed, room. The staff did a great job. The hotel was by no means luxurious but was good value for the money we paid. we arrived in the middle of a heatwave. there was no air conditioning as they usually do not need it. there was however a fan which was much appreciated.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was close to everything, it was clean, could do with a bit of an upgrade. The only downfall I have with the hotel is that it was close to the train station and you heard the trains a lot.Genuine Expedia guest review
