The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was what we expected, small, but that is very common for Europe. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A very quiet neighborhood, but very close to the action. You could walk to every part of Amsterdam within 20 minutes of the hotel.

If your staying in Amsterdam the best place to stay is near the Leidesplien. That's where all the action starts. This hotel is close to the Square and Leidestraadt, the museums, canal tours, nightlife etc. Hotel room was small but functional.

Stayed here for one night during a business visit. The hotel has a nice quiet location off of Leidse Square, and is a short walk to the tram, and neighboring restaurants and bars. Rooms was good size, bathroom was good, and the location opening up into a courtyard (instead of the street) made it nice and quiet. Service was OK.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the hotel. After staying in Apollo Museum Hotel down the the street and experiencing sewage smell and cold and rude service, I was amazed at everything in this hotel. The service from the front desk staff was outstanding plus the location was perfect, close to tram stops, restaurants, bars, yet quiet enough for a good nights sleep. We bought a two day tram pass and made good use of it, as the weather was quite cold. We would have walked more, but the temps were around 0-2C. 32-36F […] Our room was on the ground floor, with high ceilings and a tall window. It was plenty big for the two of us. We bought the breakfast ahead of time, it was 7.50 euros, if you pay that day, it is 10 euros. Breakfast saw us through the day. Hot bacon, eggs, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, breads, salad. This was a nice hotel...nothing spectacular, but clean and in a good location. Only a short 5 minute walk to Leidse Square. Staff were friendly and helpful. Allowed us to store our luggage once we checked out so we could enjoy a few extra hours touring Amsterdam. Also complimentary internet is offered in the lobby. Staff was courteus and helpful. Problem with flushing the toilet was reported in AM and taken care of on my return that afternoon. There was a spider in my room. the lights besides the bed did not work (I asked them to fix them, but they did not). the shower tube was very, very small. the room was below floor ground (I could see people`s foot on the street). double bed was not provided. Do NOT go there.

The hotel was in a great location. The tram stop was not far from the hotel, and the bus to the airport was easy and only cost 4 euros. It felt like a safe neighborhood. If you have a car, parking is an issue (I think it might be everywhere in Amsterdam though).

The room was clean, and facilities were very adequate for short-term stays. The only complaint is that the rooms do not have air conditioning, so a balcony door had to be opened to cool my room at night. As a result I was bit by mosquitoes a few times. Otherwise the stay was uneventful and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet.

The hotel is going through outside renovations, and it was difficult to find the building. When we enter to the front desk to register we had a big shocker. We were told that there was no doorman, and that we must bring our luggage to the basement ourselves until our rooms were ready. There was only one elevator and we had 7 suitcases plus carry ons. […] It was a struggle to get to the basement and place the luggage there. In addition, there was a big sign that indicated that they were not responsible for our luggage or any items left there. At two oclock when our rooms were ready, we had to bring our own luggage through the only elevator and steps. The room was large considering European standards. Hotel staff was very helpful and was able to resolve a problem we encountered quickly. Shower was small. I suggest that the curtain be cut shorter. The hems were not very clean.

I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED MY STAY! Easy access from the airport. Caught the train out front and it took me 2 blocks from the hotel, [It's right behind the Marriott ]. Van Gogh is an easy walk. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The manager was great. I had no worries about safety or security. Fun little bar in the hotel for a drink in the evening, the bartender is great. Hotel is reasonably well-located near Leidse Square and Vondelpark. Felt safe. Modest hotel but served our purpose as a landing spot each evening. Only major flaw was that we were sent to the basement room when we first checked in (room #6). having just come from a 5 star hotel, it was not as plush...but a far superior location and over $100 a night cheaper! The hotel was very well situated for my interest in Amsterdam, being close to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rembrandthuis. I had a long walk from the Central Station, but that was my fault... I forgot to print a map of the hotel's location! The staff were very friendly and helpful. They had a locked room to store luggage as we got there in the morning, so that was very helpful. The room was plain but fine. It included a tea maker and TV, with movies at an additional rate to rent. The downside was that you could only watch them at certain times. So wasn't really practical. Unfortunately, […] our room was overlooking scaffolding on the hotel, which was not told to us beforehand. So we missed out on the view of the lovely buildings and street, but didn't really ruin anything. This hotel is in a great location if you don't have a rental car and plan to walk for your main mode of transport. It is close to several trolly stops and a lot of the big tourist sites.
