"A good overnight stay"
I was traveling alone on my way to Prudo Bay. I was looking for overnight lodging that didn't cost an arm and a leg and that had an airport shuttle service. The Guest House filled my needs and with a restaurant just across the street - it was just what I was looking for.Genuine Expedia guest review
Neighborhood is not great. Service isn't great. Beds are uncomfortable. Old decor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hello, This was a miserable experience for me. I came off the north slope oil field in Alaska not having any sleep for 28 hours. Checked in and couldnt rest because of someone playing hop scotch or doing construction above my room. I checked out the next day and didnt stay the remainder of my time. The room had trim falling off in the bathroom and the […] electric heater gaurd was knocked off. What a dump. I expressed my concern to the front desk and they were far from friendly. Location is a dump with homeless people wondering around everywhere. I didnt stay my last two nights and checked out. Please make this right monentary wise Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"sad and sorry"
This hotel is called guesthouse inn and suites but the room I had was a sorry excuse for a suite. It was one one room with two beds, and bed stands, round table in the corner two chairs then everything else was placed wherever they could fit. Example: no closet, only a bar attached to the wall. the bathroom could not fit the wash basin so it was outside […] the bathroom in the same room as the bed. since they did not have a closet there was no place to store your luggage except out in the open The bathtub had chips in the porcelain that were painted over and the floor was dirty. a couch was placed next to the bed stand but did not align to the tv. When we turned down the bed to retire, the bottom sheet had stains on it. We called the front desk and they came up and changed it in the middle of the night. She assured me that that was not a fresh stain, but a permanent stain. I told her you need to get rid of that sheet how do we know when the stain happened. the hall carpet was very dirty with large dark stains from spills, Our key would not work, we had to go down each time we left the room the have the key re freshed. They advertise through Expedia a full breakfast. when I asked what time breakfast was served , they said no we don't have breakfast. They gave us coupons to go across the street to eat. This hotel is very run down! My Air Conditioner was broken & had been broken for a while. The bathroom smelled of mildew. I asked for a room change & got one, while it wasn't much better, it didn't smell as bad. There was a man falling down drunk w/his buddy in front of the hotel when I pulled up. Won't even consider staying there again even if it was […] free! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sleeping on concrete."
The bed was as hard as a rock. Nuff said. The maid was still cleaning at 4pm when we checked in and we had to send her away. Not worth the cost of the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything OK They really went out of there way to help usGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was kind of in the ghetto, parking was through the back alley and around the corner which was very inconvenient with kids, the staff was less than friendly. Room was old but decent, nothing special. Would I stay there again, probably not.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth 200 dollars a night"
Check in process took a lot longer than normal. Desk staff answered several phone calls in the middle of our check-in, even though there was another woman at the desk who could have taken the calls. The only plus side was that the bed had clean sheets and was comfortable, the bathroom was stocked with plenty of clean towels, and it was close to the Sullivan […] Arena (We were in town to see a concert there). Room had a musky moth ball smell, carpet was dirty, stained, and probably needed to be replaced 5 years ago. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Not great, needs new carpet and cleaning smells badGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel is a place to sleep overnight. No one seems to care if you are there or not. It meets minimum requirements in sanitation and convenience. No food and the coffee is not very conspicuous. Discovered it on my own.Genuine Expedia guest review
We have stayed here a few times on our return trip from fishing. The hotel is close downtown and thats one of the reasons we stay here. They also have on on-site freezer to store our fish until we leave the next day. Front desk staff are friendly and efficient. The only down side is sometimes it can get a little loud at night.(outside).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel staff is pleasant. Hotel rooms seem outdated.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was clean, beds very comfortable, bathroom clean. It was what we needed. It's definitely not a 5 star hotel, but it served us ok. Their was a great restaurant across the street with wonderful breakfasts. Otherwise, you pretty much had to go several blocks to the main part of town...it's not in the best area, but we had no problems. Very good […] Mexican restaurant in same block provided a good dinner. We got to Anchorage in wee hours of AM, called for shuttle and it was there quickly and had friendly check-in service. We chose this hotel for its free shuttle from the train (we arrived late from Anc.) and free shuttle to airport. This hotel, though, has no street presence, and the lobby is completely unimpressive. The staff is efficient but not terribly friendly ( do not take their breakfast recommendation! Do some research as excellent and cheaper places are within […] a few blocks). They provided free parking; we always found a spot. I think they have 3 parking areas. Small breakfast area with free coffee and hot water, microwave, and vending machine (no breakfast). Slow elevator and tired hallway carpet and wallpaper. We were seriously questioning our choice until we got inside our room. Despite the older bathroom (stained but clean fixtures), the room gave a much better impression. Excellent wifi, mwo, coffee maker, refrig. Shampoo and soap but no conditioner or lotion. Easy walking distance to Anc Museum and touristy area of 4th Avenue. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient in downtown. Very helpful staff."
Great experience. Shuttle rides pick up from merril field and drop off to international airport fast and efficient. The hotel has convenience of a freezer if you have fosh to take home. I had a great experience staying in this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Place to Stay"
Definitely not "high end" but much less expensive than most. Great location for restaurants and night life. Room was spacious and clean. Carpet could be redone but was not that bad. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK hotel if you need a place to crash near downtow"
The lobby was not clean, the stairwells were dingy and the room furniture and fixtures were shabby. On the bright side, the staff was very polite and responsive and our linens were clean. Our room had a view of a junky parking lot but it also framed a beautiful sunset.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good location, ok for overnight"
needed to hop on a train ride to Seward to catch my cruise at 6:45am next day, so stayed in this hotel for overnight. The hotel provided free airport pickup (great!!), but I waited for almost 1 hour when the front desk told only around 20 minutes wait. The first hotel room (1st floor at the corner, room #133 if I remembered correctly) I checked in wasn't […] that great, it's dark with air freshener, sweat and smoke smell (front desk told me it's a non-smoking room, really!?!?!?). The bathroom was kinda nasty, I saw a ring of grease on the hair drier, disgusting!!! Also you will hear all the noise from upstairs. After stayed in that first room for 10 minutes I requested and paid 25 bucks to upgrade to a room on 4th floor (the highest level). The new room was a lot brighter and cleaner, but still got some sweat smell I had to keep the window open until I went to sleep. I guess the extra I paid went to a "deep clean" service, and upgraded to a flat screen TV... The hotel location is pretty good.10-15 mins walk to shops & restaurants. AK railroad is 2-3 mins away by car. needed to catch a 6:45 am train, and hotel provided free shuttle service to train station, cool! Shuttle comes every 1 hr, 5:45 am is the earliest. had a somewhat comfortable overnight stay after switched the room. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel will due in a bind"
We booked this hotel online. The pictures made it look nicer than it actually was. It's in a very shady looking part of town but is a short easy walk to the nicer part of Anchorage. The staff at the hotel are wonderful. I think they try to make up for the hotel's condition with great customer service which is very much appreciated. Shortly after we […] arrived in our room the front desk called to see if we needed anything. Nice touch. The room itself was very dated and the bed sloped down to the center. Sitting on the edge to watch tv was very uncomfortable. Sleeping in it wasn't much better. The room has a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The shower was very nice. The lobby has a computer that is available at no cost and a little vending machine cafe with a tv. The Sizzlin' Cafe is across the street as is the Sheraton which is much nicer. When we first arrived, I thought the hotel would be full of pimps and drug dealers based on the location and some of the shady characters hanging around outside. In actuality, everyone there seemed to be tourists just like us. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Worst hotel ever"
The fotos on the internet are very misleading! This expensive room we stayed in was a dive! It's only redeeming quality was the airport and train station shuttles. This should definetly be a one star hotel. I am 64 years old and have traveled a lot and this was right up there with the worst value for the money!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Downtown"
The room was clean, accessible to downtown. However, there was an issue with drunk people (some who were not even staying at the hotel and homeless people) making a lot of noise at midnight and the front desk refused to do anything, including calling the police. One man was in the lobby, completely drunk, yelling at the top of his lungs. The front desk […] staff refused to even ask him to keep it down. The front desk agent said that he is there every night doing that. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with a family or actually wanting some sleep. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"An okay hotel - not much here"
We chose this hotel because of the price and location. We stayed only one night. The room was prepared in a hurry (we were waiting) and we could tell that the carpet was not vacuumed. The front desk was not very cooperative in giving us a ride to the bus stop although they provide a shuttle to the airport and to the train station. We had to take a taxi […] to the shuttle stop which was one mile away. In this part of town everything closes at 5 pm and you get an eerie feeling walking around. "Decent hotel in downtown Anchorage."
The hotel staff were not really friendly, there was no breakfast service, except reconstituted instant coffee. At the price I paid for 2 rooms, breakfast of some sort should have been offered - 2 rooms x 3 nights = $949.00. The location was in downtown Anchorage, there was plenty of free parking, there was free shuttle to Airport, free Wi-Fi - yay! […] :( My room was tiny w a queen size bed - very little maneuver room, i.e. walking around the room. I didn't feel that the bottom sheet on my bed was clean- it looked too wrinkled! hotel is not in a nice part of town. the breakfast place across the street was over priced, and the food was terrible. and the front desk could not tell me where I could go to buy toiletries. they told me there was a store 3 blocks away so I walked, but it turned out to be 9 blocks. service was rude, and I will definitely not be returning. "GREAT time at the Guesthouse Inn"
The airport shuttle drivers were very friendly and on time. Its also at a great location. Just on the outskirts of all the restaurants and shops of downtown, which makes for a nice quiet stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wasnt as expected."
The hotel was clean for the most part. The issue is out dated appliances and fabrics. For me it's just about $200 a night and it was highly over priced for its condition. The staff was pretty cool and helpful but the building needs a renovation if there prices are similar to the 4 star hotels in the area. Just not worth the money. If it was around $80-$120 […] a night, the. It would be expected. Finally it was advertise that breakfast was available. Not! I was upset considering that was a reason I selected the hotel. "Needs to improve"
I went to the front desk to ask a question and two employees ignored me and just kept talking. There was hair on the blow dryer in the room and also hair on the towels. The A/C was not working in the room and the floor in the bathroom was coming up. When I tried to close the window it was broken and would not shut.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We got to town late and were leaving early, so it was fine. The courtesy van driver from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the train station were great. The front desk staff were wonderful as well. The room was clean. Nothing exceptional, but fine for an overnight stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
We do not recommend this hotel to my friends because the air in the hotel was not fresh and the lobby is too small to be welcomed and the carpet of the room seems too old and stuffy smelly and the window unit aircondition was noisy. GuestHouse Inn & Suites used to be a Days Inn and is definitely on the motel end of the spectrum. The room was clean for the most part. The beds were hard which is actually better than so worn that you get poked with springs. The shower curtain didn't do a great job and thus the bathroom floor got pretty wet. Check in was only one lady assisting a long line of travelers. She had very long fingernails that impeded her typing. I stayed for 2 nights and neither morning was there coffee or snacks/complementary meal provided in the lobby/meal area.On Sunday […] morning (my check out day), housekeeping was knocking on each door on my floor before 9am.
