We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Super 8 Austin University-Downtown. It is located right off the feeder road so it was easy to access. The employees were very courteous, helpful and friendly. Second time to stay here. Decent hotel for the price. Good location - about 3 miles from UT. Room has always been clean and comfortable but I only use it at night. Rooms have a mini fridge and microwave so you can keep some drinks cold or warm something up. Parking is ok but if you get there lte you may not be able to park close to your room. Negatives: the sheets are not that warm or comfortable, the area isn't that nice but its on the highway. Positives: it's cheap, on the highway, close to downtown ($12 taxi). I was pleased. Very polite and helpful host.

Very disapointed in the hotel, the exterior was dirty with damage to the drive thru roof. Bathroom had mold, and walls wewre in need of paint.

We enjoyed our stay while visiting the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center. Seldom heard other guests. Breakfast was great! Price was OK, and last minute reservations were accepted through hotels.com! The mapping directions to the hotel were flawless and necessary for this Austin rookie! THANKS!!!

It's a nice place for a motel. If you stay here try to get a room away from the highway because I got all that noise every night which doesn't bother me but if you're a light sleeper it can be a problem. My only complain with the room was that the outlets by the sink did not work but all the rest did and there were plenty of them. Perfect location to […] jump on the highway. Overall this is a clean hotel a little older but clean. It's in a some what shady part of Austin but had no problems, and they do have a guest laundry room so you can wash clothes. It is close to downtown and easy enough to jump on the north or south 35 which goes right though Austin, also the price is right!

Was woke up both nights to screaming and fighting. And the Austin PD beating on door next to my room and making arrest first night. Left at midnight second night due to screaming again.

Room was clean and comfortable but doors on the room require you to slam them shut which you can hear all through the night from other guest. Other guest seem to carry on loud conversations on the balconies and parking lot.

I chose this hotel after reading previous reviews. While the hotel staff was friendly and the breakfast was pretty decent, the hotel needs total upgrading. The bed comforters were old, had burn marks and holes in them. The blanket was like a thin rubber sheet and had holes in it also. The hotel was full and housekeeping didn't get around to my room until after 3pm. I told them not to bother coming in since I just wanted to get cleaned up and rest some. Wasn't a pleasant stay at all. Hotel hall is dirty. Although they announce at hotels.com website that they would provide a crib, they will not. Rooms are not clean and smells bad. Horrible. Hotel was noisy. Initially given smoking room which reaked. Transferred to non-smoking room after being told that that would be an extra charge. Room 129 was in hall way where all vending machines were kept and with employee/supply rooms on either side. There was gargage all around vending machines (dry leaves and paper). Light from vending […] machines and hall way came in room all night and constant traffic to vending machines and gathering point for young people. Well lit parking lot, elevator, and breakfast were all nice. Was so tired, the highway noise didn't bother us, but it might some. Pretty loud and ongoing. Heading north on I35 was a little hard to figure out the streets to get south on the frontage road, but we found it!

I was looking for a super-cheap option for South by Southwest, since I never spend much time in my hotel room during all the shenanigans. This place fit the bill pretty well. For the price, it was great — not that my expectations or pickiness were very high. I was surprised to find a fridge and microwave in my room, which came in handy (go to the amazing […] Austin Whole Foods and get yourself some fruit to sustain you through SxSW craziness!). There is a pool and hot tub, but they outside and comically close to the interstate. I doubt they get much use — although I was tempted, for the sheer silliness of sitting in a hot tub surrounded by diesel fumes and traffic roar. The only thing worse than one night at this joint is two. Garbage truck pickup at 12:30 am? yup. That was Friday night. Sat night was 2:30 domestic altercations. And this wasn't SXSW weekend (though guy on desk duty thought so). And in terms of Austin traffic, this place is nowhere near downtown. I'd commute from Lubbock before rebooking this one.

On the first night, the remote control to the TV didn't work, which normally isn't a big deal, but there was no button attached to the TV to turn it on and we couldn't access news or weather which we needed to know.
