Starting the day with a good breakfast overlooking St. Peter's Basillica is something to remember. The room was not large but adequate, very clean and was serviced daily. The bathroom included a in-bath-jacuzzi which was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel position was ideal: 100yards from the Vatican and the Castel Angelo and only a 3 minute walk to the bus depot and 5 mins to the metro. Best of all Hotels.com offered the hotel at over £200 less per night than some other sites!!!!

On arrival at the Atlante Star we were impressed by the entrance and the service of the staff. Our first impressions of the room were a little disappointing as we had booked a superior double room this seemed a little small and the balcony view was uninspiring. However, the room was very clean and the maid service was excellent. The restaurant , with the fantastic views over the Vatican, more than compensated for the room. The breakfast was of a high quality and again the service was first class. We felt the location was excellent and we were able to get about easily on foot , by bus and using the Metro. The toll of the bell from St. Peter's Basilica soothing us in the early hours, rather than the noise of traffic and loud tourists, made this a very pleasant stay.

While the hotel location was good, the hotel room needed some improvements. The bathroom layout was not very convenient as one could not sit on the toilet since the wash basin was directly in front of it. - One need to sit sideways. - The bath tub floor was not flat at all so one had a choice of either having the feet one in front of the other or have them parallel with the toes and heels creating a U making it quite uncomfortable to take a shower - The room had twin beds and could not be made into a single bed. - The beds moved very easily.

The location of the hotel is exceptional, 5 minute walk to Vatican City, and to many recreations in Rome. The hotel itself is nice cozy, the room was nice, a little bit small though, the bathroom was a reasonable size, but the shower was a pain, the shower head had a lot of pressure. They show a garden roof top that was closed for renovation :(, that would have been a cool feature to see. Another good thing about the hotel is that they offer a one way free pick up service from airport Fiumicino (FCO), then to go the airport you have to pay when you leave, or you can take the train, but I think it's worth paying they way back, which isn't much more than the train.

This is a great Hotel, very clean and tidy. We stayed in a superior room and to be honest it was big enough for the two of us, we had free sky TV, not that we watched it much but good to have on in the background. The rooms decoration was initially a little strange, stripped wallpaper, however once we got used to it, it wasnt a problem at all. The breakfast room was brilliant, it was never busy up there and the view was absolutely brilliant, it overlooks St Peter's just like the photos from their website. The only thing was that the terrace wasnt open, but this didnt affect our trip one bit. The breakfast is simple but ideal for us, a selection of meat, cheese, bread, yoghurts and Eggs... Oh and lovely croissants. Overall this was a great hotel and after reading a few other reviews about how they had bad experiences we definately did not and would stay at this hotel again when we return to Rome. Truly special place!

This was my fourth visit to Rome and I have stayed around the Vatican every other time. Although, technically, this hotel could not be described as being in the Vatican region, by cutting along a few back streets, you arrive in the area to be. Shopping, restaurants and bars of a high quality. The hotel is very easy to find and has a great breakfast room. Through the glass walls, you can see St Peter's and the natural light makes it a very pleasant space in which to start your day. Apart from travelling by Metro, I walk most places in Rome and the Hotel in very near two Metro stations, which makes all the major attractions very accessable. This hotel offers great service and is very good value for money. The staff in Reception and at the bar are very helpful and friendly. One thing though. If you wish to watch any TV whilst on holiday (I usually like to see Sky News . . . why go on holiday and watch TV anyway?) then you have to pay to have TV access. The only non pay per view channel is a local Italian station, which offers very little news content.

This hotel is in a fantastic location. It is peaceful at night time - minutes walk to both bus station and Metro - walking distance to St Peter's and the Vatican. We had a meal in the restaurant on our first night which I have to say was the best meal of the whole week. Please note that the rates on the menu are higher than what you got charged as a resident at the Hotel which I was extremely grateful about! Hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The only thing I felt was sub - standard was the Hotel Room. I paid for a 'Superior Room' and thus my expectation was set. A more appropriate description would, very small, basic room (The bath was half the size of a normal bath!) in need of TLC and had the Hotel been in England then it would have been condemmed on the basis of the electrics which were hanging out of the wall. To cap it all the ventilator cover fell off the wall above the bathroom door missing my head by cms. The Manager was very gracious and did refund me the cost of our meal at the Hotel and there was genuine concern that we were not happy with the room. The Manager has also promised us an upgrade next time we book. This has turned the whole experience into a positive and I would recommend this Hotel to anyone as a result of the way our dissatisfaction was managed.

No room phones & room not being in the hotel itself. It was in an apartment building a few doors down. Which was an inconvenience when you needed bell hop or a question answered you needed to take the elevator down and walk down the block to the hotel. But, they did make it up to us by not charging for the shuttle/van back to airport. I would recommend the hotel. The rooftop terrace which was one of the reasons I booked was closed for renovations. Overall, I would recommend it. The breakfast was OK too.

Paris rooms were larger. I have traveled to Europe many years and this was the smallest room. The morning meal was great, great location, staff very responsive and kind. I would ensure the room size is adequate for a long stay. The free transportation from the airport went fine and the location you can't beat.

This is a "European" four star hotel... not what Americans are used to but reasonable for the price and location for a European hotel room. Their service and restaurant are good (expect a typical European breakfast). The room is very small and hard to navigate. The building is old and may not appear perfectly clean. If you go in with this expectation, you'll be fine. It's still a good hotel and the location is fabulous.

The room with 4 single bed was clean but a bit cramped, and in the heat of August was a little warmer than most U.S. hotels would be. The staff was helpful by providing two oscillating fans which helped. The front desk responded well to our various tourist information requests. We learned after a few days of walking in the vicinity that most restaurants were 4 to 6 blocks north of the hotel. The Vatican was within easy walking distance.

The hotel shuttle is only pick up, and cost about 45 euros to get back. We were late arriving, and our luggage was lost, our driver did not wait on us. We were told by a few other shuttle people, this is not unusual for the atlante hotels. After we called the hotle, another driver was there for us and the next group.
