"Great location for Rome and the Vatican"
The room was small, air conditioning did not work, and there were no wash cloths. Bed was not very comfortable and there were no room safes. The location was great, the breakfast was good and the rooftop restaurant had terrific views. Overall I liked it but it was overpriced for what it was.Genuine Expedia guest review
advertised that is has a/c, but doesn't until end of june, this is april. not helpful with tours, don't know the location of anything in the city. charge a fee to exchange money, don't offer food. "A delight for honeymooners."
An almost traditional European style hotel. It's cute and cozy inside. Walking distance to The Vatican and Castel Sant'angelo where you can literally see the St. Michael statue from the entrance of the hotel. Lots of places to eat around the block including a small grocery store just around the corner. The breakfast buffet is pretty good but the view […] is the main reason you should go up there. The hotel can be a bit noisy from the sound of the ambulance or police sirens outside in the early morning but its manageable and you get used to it. Internet and wi-fi could be a little better but its free so I guess it's ok. Walls are kind of thin so don't be too noisy especially if you're in the hall. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Old, dusty hotel, small rooms, good location"
The room is very small and very dusty, last time it was renovated probably in 19th century. Toilet did not work properly, in addition the toilet ventilation goes right into the room. This is the only source of the "fresh" air in the room. No climate control. The location of the hotel is perfect - just a short distance from San Pietro and close to all forms of transportation. The cleanliness of the hotel was perfect. "Ok hotel by European standards"
Not a bad hotel for an older European city (i.e. it was what I was expecting). Rooms are on the small side, but big enough if you are travelling alone or with your spouse (and don't have a ton of luggage). This is not a 4 star hotel as you would find in the states, make sure you understand that going into it and you won't be disappointed. My room had […] a mini-bar but no ironing board, go figure. The hotel has wifi, but you must pay for it and coverage in the lobby/bar-area is suspect (but no issues at all in my room). The safe in my room was broken which was a major inconvenience. The staff is courteous and pleasant. The only issue I had was the free shuttle pickup at the airport. My flight was late and it took an hour to get my luggage and the driver did not wait - the result was that I had to wait at the airport for almost 2 hours for him to come back. While the hotel charges for a shuttle back to the airport, it is cheaper than it would be to take a cab. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"There are better options"
The hotel locations was perfect, but the lack of maintenance in the room we were given was obvious (hair dryer did not work, two burnt light bulbs and the TV set had to be repaired). Besides, there was very limited Internet access and the restaurants were closed most of the time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel was great. The room was a little small by American standards, but that is what I expected. The staff was friendly and always willing to help us with whatever we needed. The hotel was very clean and comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was tiny. Air conditioning did not work. Customer service seemed like an effort. Surrounding neighborhood was lacking.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was nice with a great location just 5 blocks walking from St. Peter' basilica....The breakfast was great and the rooms were clean. The rooms were an ok size considering European standards. There was no bathtub in the bathroom. The beds were VERY HARD and so were the pillows, not 4 star quality! The location was great. A couple of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, while others were rude and seemed inconvenienced by questions. You have to walk up a small flight of stairs […] upon entering the hotel to get to the lobby and it is not stroller/wheelchair friendly. The one elevator in the hotel was small and could barley fit 4 people. You have to pay for internet and the food was sub-par. Breakfast was disappointing, meat, cheese and bread for breakfast? Dry cereal and no milk? Even though the booking said breakfast was not included, it must have been because the one day we ate there, we were not charged. And we were not able to eat at the restaurant for dinner due to lack of communication by the staff. The desk staff said you just need to go up there while the restaurant staff says you need a reservation. Overall, it's in a good location, but I would not stay there again nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone. We were very disappointed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel if the restaurants are open"
Hotel was up to our expectations, the closeness to the Vatican. We were disappointed in the restaurants. This seemed to be their big selling point. When we arrived we were told the restaurant was only open for breakfasts and on Friday nights. Their chef had quit and all we received was a continental breakfast. Their rooftop garden restaurant was not […] only closed but you could not even access it to see the view that they had advertised. Both the male and female bartenders were great and very helpful. "Great hotel for the price and great stay."
Everything was great. Room was cleaned daily and the staff was friendly. Breakfast in the am was good and fueled you until mid day. I would stay there again if I went back especially for the price. My one complaint is the front desk person did not tell us how to get to the airport using public transportation. My guess is they want you to use their shuttle […] service to the airport for 20 Euros per. Dont do it. We took the Metro to the main station (1.50 euro per) then we took a bus to the airport (4 Euros per). Overall the hotel was in a great location and it was perfect for unwinding and sleeping. Good hotel, good location. Nice neighborhood. You can wave to the Pope from there. Staff is average but willing to help. Roof top is NOT open and a bit of a let down. The hotel was in a good location with an excellent little restaurant close by. Bus stops were also minutes away. Overall the hotel was a great value and very clean. "Good hotel if you are on a budget!"
One of the least expensive "nice" hotels that you find in Rome that are in the middle of everywhere. "Atlante Star Hotel - Rome, Italy"
Overall, I thought it was a good place to stay in Rome, Italy. Very close to the Vatican. My two issues are: 1) A plumbing problem in the hotel forced us to move out for one night. "Atlante Star Hotel in Rome--near Vatican"
We stayed here the first few nights in Rome and had a wonderful stay, We loved the neighborhood, 10 minute walk to St Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and great shopping. It was a nice area to walk around at night, and great cafe right down the street on the corner. Many other nice cafes also. Definitely walk over the bridge with the angels by […] St Angelo's Castle and explore the cafes and neighborhood right over the bridge. Rome subway was about 15 minute walk, convenient for us. Hotel provided us a choice with airport pick up or breakfast, and we chose pick up because it was our first time in Rome and did not know our surroundings, Pick up was on time, and convenient, but driver was not very welcoming. Hotel allowed us to check in early, which really helped with the 9 hour overnight flight and 6 hour time difference so we were able to rest. Room was very nice and clean, except seemed to be a bit dusty, likely due to wall paper and curtains, which were a bit dated. Loved the windows and wooden shutters that opened. Crazy traffic in the area, when walking really tried to cross at traffic lights. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Overall the hotel was satisifactory. Hower, the service was excellent. The breakfast (included with the Room) was oKas a standard in Rome. "An Old, Outdated Dump"
We went to Rome 2 days before our cruise and stayed at this place. What a dump! We only chose it because has a "free" shuttle service from Leonardo daVinci Airport (FC0) that we had to wait an hour for. We came to find out that "Free" shuttle service is worked into the price. The "Professional Photos" are completely misleading. You can barely turn around […] in this hotel. The place is old & outdated. The elevator can only hold 4 people max. You open the door to your room & there is the bed. It's just a room built around a bed about 6" from the desk. The walls are about 10" from the bed all around. It had a bidet in the bathroom which is completely gross. Who would use a bidet in a hotel room? The shower curtain had mold on it & I refused to use it. The CLOTH bedspread looked ratty & about 30 years old. Breakfast is almost non-existent. Also, they don't have key cards. They have actual keys on a cheesy tassle that you have to stick in a keyhole so anyone can make a copy of your room key. They also take your passports upon check in & you get it back later which I did not like. Itt's not in a great part of town. Grafitti on buildings everywhere you look. Also, it is apparently on a street that ambulances use to get the hospital so you can listen to sirens going by when in your room esp. trying to sleep @ night. Avoid this place. I feel we overpaid for what we got. I couldn't wait to get out of there. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. It's a 1-2 star hotel at best. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect Vatican Spot"
The hotel is in a great location for visiting the Vatican, you can even see St Peter's from the restaurant. Rome isn't that big of a city and so it's not in a bad location for everywhere else. The longest walk took about 45 minutes to St John Lateran which is at the opposite side of Rome As with most European hotels, the rooms are small compared to […] American ones but they have all of the essentials. The beds were comfortable. The closet in my room was a little small but my sister's room had a larger closet. The TV system had a good selection of English language programs. WiFi was available. The bathroom was a good size with a full size jetted tub. The staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The only negative is that the hotel is a little dated. "Nice little hotel near the Vatican"
Our stay at the Atlante Star was very comfortable and pleasant, though the location was not optimal for what we ended up doing. If you plan to spend your time at the Vatican, then this hotel is absolutely perfect. If, like us, you're most interested in what's on the east side of the river, then only consider the Atlante Star if you want a quiet room […] and/or you don't mind walking a lot. The rooms are small and somewhat cramped, and the hallways are only about 1 person wide -- but that's common in Rome, and the Atlante Star makes good use of the space it has and its location in a quiet neighborhood adds greatly to its charm. If you want more room, stay outside the city center. Besides...this is *Rome*...if you find yourself staying in your hotel room a lot, you're doing it wrong! If you stay here, don't ignore the city block just to the south of the hotel. It's a warren of tight little alleyways with lots of hidden gems: a tea shop (Makasar), one of Rome's rare Chinese restaurants, excellent wine bars and restaurants (check out Nuvolari), and little shops and galleries. If you go too far, you'll find yourself on a street lined with touristy restaurants hawking to the Vatican visitors. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It was a nice hotel. Good location near the buses. The best cafe I found in the city was right outside my Door. Walk out the front door and make a left. Walk to the corner. About a block and a half on the left side across from the supermarket. Got a coffee a sandwich and some pastries every morning before going into the city. Loved it!! Finding your […] way around the streets was tough at first bits and old city and every blockbus a different name. But it gets easier after a day or two. Be careful with cabs. They get expensive fast and the buses dont run that late. Public transit is not that efficient. Our last night before we left we spent in fiumicino at la torre del Moro. A good deal. Good price. Not a pampered place but verry customer friendly and a perfect stop if you want to save a few bucks on a room. The amicimiei da Dino e Anna restaurant near by. A right outside the hotel and on the left is a wonderful family friendly restaurant with great food. One of the nicest meals I had the two weeks I was in Italy. Also the area is great for a nice walk and a few wine bars. Also there are a lot of great looking seafood restaurants but they are a little pricy. The hotel must have used a professional web designer and photographer because the actual hotel does not come close to the pictures. "poorly designed hotel"
The bathroom floor floods when you shower and leaks to the rug outside. You have to sit sideways on the toilet because of the placement of the sink. Also the metro doesn't run after […] 10PM and the shuttle to the hotel stops at 10PM, so inconvenient to reach if your flight arrives after that time. Taxis to hotel cost about 60 euro. The city bus is 4 euro, but it takes a long time to find the hotel when you get off. It was worse than expected. Saw someone won a trip here on a gameshow. Too bad.
