My husband and I booked this hotel after reading the reviews; however, not only was the room dirty, falling apart, and smelly, but when we left for a meeting and then came back our door was ajar. "Musty and dirty!"
The stay was absolutely the worst!!!!!!!!Do not stay here..... I booked this hotel because it had a pool, we get there and the receptionist says the pump broke that morning...However, we go out to look at the pool and it was pea soup green, so obviously they lied when the pump broke or if it really did. The receptionist gives us our key card, we slide […] the card into our assigned room...and the room is occupied there is a baby and mom in the room we were so embarrassed, nothing like having your privacy invaded. Then we get assigned another room we open the door and it smells terrible... musty the walls are dirty, remnants from previous quest still in the room, the sheets were stained and the bedspread had holes in it. I realize it is not a 5 star hotel.. However, some basic things you want, is clean sheets and room. I complained to the receptionist and she says they are in the mist of renovation. I said okay fine, and then I said well you should not book people if you are not able to provide some basic needs..by the way I saw no signs that said "please excuse our mess while we are under construction" ...Do not stay here it is a waste of your money and time!!!!!!!!!! I feel bad leaving this bad review as the staff were so pleasant and professional. Good location - close to many shops. Rooms were clean but the one we were first given had a faint smell of mold. "Mold and moisture problems..."
Staff was very friendly and sweet. I had my daughter ask for more towels and the staff, told her to bring the old ones to her and she would give her new towels. I thought that was odd. Cause the towels were so stained, that it looked like they cleaned something with the towels. The hotel needs some renovation done fast. While checking in water was falling […] from the ceiling on the receptionist desk. Was instructed pool was down for cleaning. However its the end of July, pool should have been ready. Water was green and trash and debris was on the side of the building. Walking through the hotel the cove base around the hallways were removed so it looked terrible. Air conditioning registers were sitting on the floor so you can see the duct work. Opening our oom door, it smelled just like mold. The bathroom was nasty. The ceiling tile had water damage and wasn't seated properly. Where it exposed mold. Toilet wasn't cleaned at all and had rust around the bottom of toilet where the screw bolts go from toilet into the floor flange. Also toulwt kept running the whole time. When i checked in at midnight i had to wait a good 20 min because she couldn't find my reservation. Turned out that someone had already checked me in long before. Every 4th of July we come to VA from NY for a family gathering at our familys house in Hampton, Va. It was about 10 min drive. Hotel was pretty clean, private, and staff was friendly. The pool was small but there was never anyone there. So it worked for us. Thank youGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel is in a great location but it is due for remodeling. The paper wall was coming off in the bathroom. The carpet was sticky and nasty in some spots. The shower had mold. "Not Worth the Money You May Save"
The location is ideal: within a short distance of the hotel, there are shops, cafes, and a lovely fountain. That's where the good news stops. The drive into the hotel (parking lot) demonstrates the overall care for this property: rutty at best. I gave the front desk gentlemen my name 5 times -- needed to spell it four. It was as if he wasn't listening […] to me. He wasn't. My room had three of the four lights unplugged. The clock radio was similarly unplugged and looked as if it hadn't been dusted in months. Despite the stuffiness of the room, I had to turn off the air conditioning during the night because it sounded like an aircraft carrier taking off.
