Parking was terrible, it was a Saturday night,we were told to park in the hospital parking lot across the street about a half block up the hill. We drove around the indoor garage and outside parking for 20 min and finally found a place to park. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. The evening reception and breakfast were great.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 30, 2009
Checkin was very smooth. The hotel staff was friendly and courteous. The hotel atrium is spectacular and tastefully decorated. As is usually the case with most hotels in this classificaiton the price of food and extras are about 30-40% too high. The free breakfast is nice however they need to make guests show their room key to eat due to the high traffic and to make sure only legit guests are eating. The elevator situation is brutal starting at about 9:00-checkout. You can easily wait 5-10 minutes to get on an elevator. The biggest plus for this hotel is the proximity to the CCPlaza and Westport. You can park your car (free) and easily walk to these locations. Pool area is nice enough and seems to be kept up fairly well. Pool water was a bit cold though. The biggest problem I can see is that the hotel is showing it's age from years of use. The room we stayed in could have definitely used a little TLC. Overall the hotel is nice enough however it needs some attention to detail in the rooms for sure. When guests are being charged a high rate for a room the hotel mgmt needs to meet their expections for price vs. value.

The room looked very nice, though if you looked behind items you could see the real age of the hotel. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. We thought it was just a lumpy bed but the next morning we figured out that the bed had shifted off the frame but with the bed skirt that wasn't apparent. The views aren't that great, but with recent construction in the area there really is nothing to see. It is set off from the Plaza but is still withing walking distance of the Plaza and Westport. The free breakfast was a nice touch. They serve omeletes and a variety of standard breakfast fare (the morning we were there was pancakes and scrambled eggs).

Reviewed by Matt of NYC on Sep 30, 2009
The biggest drawback is the clueless staff at the front desk. They did not bother to reveal that the parking lot for the adjoining hospital employee lot doubled as the hotel's parking lot. Thus, when all the spots at the hotel were taken, it wasn't apparent that we could park at the hospital, leading us to park in the street. When we went to the front desk to inform him the lot was full, he informed us that we could have parked at the hospital. When we responded that they never told us at check-in, and that the hospital lot has no signage indicating hotel guests could park there, he sarcastically responded that he would train his staff better and laughed. Apart from our experience with him, the stay was pleasant.

This hotel was very nice and clean and comfortable. I usually stay at Marriott hotel chains, but this one was more convenient to where I needed to stay and comparatively priced. The room was bigger and a little nicer than what you expect from Springhill or Courtyard; it was very nice, clean and felt like home. The lobby has a bit of a Spanish flair to it which adds some uniqueness to the hotel, it is very spacious. Breakfast wasn't overly exciting but was good and fresh and as is normal for Embassy was included in the room cost. I will stay here again.

We resently spent two nights at this hotel. Overall it was a good experience. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Plaza. The hotel needs some updating. The A/C stystem was unusually loud and the number of elevators was not sufficient for a hotel of this size. Also the bed in our room at least, nedds to have the mattress replaced. Also, the door to our bathroom stuck very badly. On the plus side, it is a beautiful hotel inside and the staff was extremely courtious and helpful.

Great hotel if you're looking for a place with a lot of people coming to party. People come in from out of town as it is close to Westport which has a lot of bars. Because it's got Suites can pack a lot of people in the room and thus cheap per person. Not a family place at all though. Line for free drinks was quite long. Staff were polite and courteous. Numerous bachelor/bachelorette parties going on when we were there. If that's you're thing then this is your place. Wasn't a bad hotel though and rooms were reasonably clean. If you're young and hip check it out; if you're over the hill it might not be your cup of tea.

The shower curtain liner had mold on it. The bathtub drain stopper was broken. The underground parking & the parking lot were full so we had to park a ways away and walk to the hotel in the rain. One of the employees was complaining about his job to us while we were on the elevator with him. The room was just not what we were expecting by the description. I didn't like that the sink/vanity was right in the bedroom. The shower/toilet room was separate and was very small. The fee of $10 per 24hrs for wireless was too high especially when many places now have wireless for free. We regularly take trips to KC and have stayed in much nicer places. We will not be staying here again. The breakfast was really good though.

The only dislike I had about the hotel was the charged one of our guest for the breakfast, when they shouldn't have. I didn't feel like complaining at the time, maybe they would have reversed the charge. Also the elevator system in the hotel is bad. ESPEACIALLY at check-out time. It took our entire group thrity mintues to get downstairs. We couldn't use the stairs due to all the luggage.

This hotel was awesome! The suites are very large, and have two flat-screen tvs. They also have a fridge, microwave and very good coffee. The breakfast was also very nice, made-to-order omelettes, potatoes, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, cereal, the works. The breakfast and free drinks alone would've added up to more than half the cost of the room had we gotten them at a bar and restaurant. Having to stand in line to get the free drinks is SLIGHTLY demeaning but I assume they just have such a high volume of guests that they have to do it that way. All in all, it was an excellent stay and an excellent value.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites due to its convenience to the KU Medical Center where my daughter had outpatient surgery. Our room was fine but I was very disappointed in the fact that I could not get room service when I needed it. My daughter was not in any condition to be left alone, so I counted on being able to order lunch in our room after leaving the hospital. When I called to order lunch, we hadn't eaten since the night before, the kitchen was closed due to a water problem. The next morning I was unable to leave my daughter to get down to the breakfast buffet, so I tried to at least get toast brought to the room so she wouldn't take her pain medication on any empty stomach. Again, I meet with resistance from the room service staff. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who uses it after a procedure at the KU Med Center. The other criticism of the hotel is that it is very difficult to get in and out of the front door due to no automatic door openers and the steps leading up to the lobby. Not user friendly as at all. I had trouble loading/unloading my daughter and all of our luggage, etc.
