"Looks fancy, great service, beds sucked"
The hotel was beautiful inside and out. The lobby, bar, and glass elevator were so cool! We even loved the unique windows looking out from our room into the lobby balcony! The room was spacious and had a great layout. The pillows were nice and comfy -- only complaint is that the beds were so hard and extremely uncomfortable. The fold out couch and two […] beds all left our backs stiff and aching -- comfy beds are the most important to us and they failed miserably. We had a huge red koolade looking stain in the middle of the living room and that was a turn off but really, those beds were just enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth toward the entire embassy suites chain. :( Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice decor throughout"
This was a typical Embassy Suites which is always top-notch. Price was a little hefty but, again, typical. Breakfast was a zoo with too many guests and not enough room to feed everyone or even to sit down. Some gave up and bought their own nearby. Bathroom was SO small and the tub was Super 8 quality. I kind of expect more for the $.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A tale of two rooms."
I stayed at the Embassy Suites Kansas City - Plaza for two nights while in KC for business. I usually stick with Marriott while traveling, but I thought that I would save some of my budget money by using Hotels.com. (I will not make that mistake again.) On the first night, I was placed in a smoking room on the third floor. It was truly awful. The smell […] of smoke mixed with air freshener was an assault on my senses. In addition to the smell, the room also seemed damp, which may or may not have been the cause of the carpet pealing off of the floor. (There were carpet folds throughout the room, which created a tripping hazard.) Finally, there was only one remote control for the two televisions and it didn't work. I called the front desk and pleaded for a new room, but none were available until the second night. The room given to me on the sixth floor for my second night was a huge upgrade. It was clean, dry, and didn't smell like smoke. I would have given this hotel 3.5 stars had it not been for my experience in the smoking room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room had a musty/mold smell. Our room billing was to be adjusted per the manager but front desk told me they couldn't do anything because I went thru a third party (Expedia) No more Expedia for me I had no idea that could ever happen.Genuine Expedia guest review
Unless this is significantly cheaper than other locations on the plaza, stay at one of the other Plaza hotels. I typically enjoy staying at Embassy Suites, but this one is need of a renovation, and also shouldn't be considered "on the Plaza". The location is actually in Westport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The service was good but the hotel is definitely aging. It needs some tlc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good variety for breakfast Buffett, accommodating"
Travel a lot to KC with family. Each time we stay at a different hotel for the main reason we are trying to find that one. We love being by the plaza area and even though this time we did not frequent the plaza as we came for the sporting events, the location is convenient. I would say a 10 minute walk. The rooms are setup nicely and accommodating for […] a family of four. Carpets need cleaned, sofa beds feel like spikes, but two sons did not complain. Ice area is filthy, the worst I have ever seen but good news we steered clear of this area. Buffett has great variety, although lines are hectic and stay seemed to be overwhelmed. I would say compared to other hotels on or close to plaza this one is worth staying at. As we have stayed at them all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was not in good condition, This is a very old hotel and it shows. Room were not really clean. The worst was no airconditioning. Arrived late at night and could not sleep. Checked out next day even though we were scheduled for three days.Genuine Expedia guest review
"OK, Kind of Outdated. Great for families"
I've stayed here three times now. I think it is starting to show some signs of wear. You have to understand that this hotel is serving families. Often it is serving large families, given that it has suites. There are relatively few business travelers here. The free hot buffet breakfast is the draw. There are omelets and plenty of fruit. Still, it tends […] to get jammed with lots of people. The Holiday Inn Express on Westport Road is the best place to pack in twenty-somethings in town for a game or a concert. This is the best place to pack in several generations of family into one or two suites. Downside: wait for the elevator while kids play on it in the upper floors, eat with a herd at breakfast, and sometimes feel like the service isn't too personal. My wake-up call didn't work one day. Upside - GREAT LOCATION. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly service but could use some improvements"
My girlfriends and I take an annual trip to KC and stayed at Embassy Suites two years in a row because of the room size and friendly staff. We have never had a bad experience as far as service goes, everyone from the front desk to the bartenders to the shuttle drivers are great. We also love the free breakfast and happy hour! Our hotel room was comfy […] but there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and the lighting was very dim for showering! Also- some kids on our floor must have had a twinkie fight... there was a smooshed twinkie next to the elevator all night and the entire next day. Kind of gross. Overall, its a good place to stay. "Very good Value, great location!"
We really enjoyed that the hotel was within walking distance of restaurants, bars and shopping. We didn't need our car once we were there. It's a fun location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room next to elevator. Not used to the noise of the elevator. No room cleaning the 1st night. Not a big deal. We r into green so using towels more than once is OK. However, they could leave extra toilet paper somewhere in the room. I got a necessary roll off the maid cart the next am. Front desk very helpful. Also, we r told parking was $10 yet charged […] $11. We told check in personnel and they said 11 was it with no discussion. However, mgr overheard discussion and made it 10. When we check out it went back to 11. The marketing company told us 10. Not a big deal but need to communicate with all vendors. We had a nice time at the hotel . we will come back Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great room, excellent breakfast, little expensive"
The rooms are great, including a very comfortable bed. You cant beat the breakfast either, tons of options including made to order omlettes. The only downside is the price, plus they hit you with an $11 parking charge that is unnecessary.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nothing fancy. Just OK..."
Hotel is ok. It's clean which is the only reason why we stayed and didn't cancel our second night. Not anything to rave about but it really isn't horrible either. The area isn't that great. The beds are very firm. I ended up staying in a nicer hotel, my 3rd night, for a better price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful but short on decent staff"
The hotel was in a great location and was beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were great. It took the cleaning staff until the late afternoon to clean our rooms and then they didn't leave us clean glasses, didn't vacuum the floors, and didn't replace the toiletries when they were used. We had to call several times for them to come and clean. We valet […] parked which was great and they treated us very well. The pool was really nice and very kid friendly. The hotel is across the street so there will be a lot of sirens through the evening but the air-conditioning blocked most of the sound out. The split rooms were great with two separate tvs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great time staying here over the weekend! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The only negative to the hotel stay would be the parking. However, valet parking was reasonably priced and the staff was quite accommodating whenever we needed our vehicle. "Noisy AC fan"
The stay was nice, but the AC fan in the room ran all night. We tried to set the settings, but then it got hot. We decided to let the fan run and shut the door between the two rooms. We had no other complaints.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"July 4th get away"
The location was convenient for us and the check-in and out process was quick and smooth. The employee in the gift shop was cheerful. Valet parking was worth the minimal added expense. The toilet was not working upon our check-in and required a call to the front desk for service. Maintenance did not show up before we left for the evening which was about […] two hours; however. the toilet was working properly upon our return to the room later that evening. Also, there were only two towels in the room upon check in and we had three adults staying in our suite, so another call to the front desk was necessary. The complimentary breakfast and evening drinks and snacks are a nice perk; however, during the Saturday night evening drink session we attended was super busy, the employees seemed overwhelmed, the snack table was a mess and the tables for guest to sit at were not being cleared and cleaned off as quickly as they were needed. Additional staff would have been a welcome addition. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ok hotel staff amazing!"
I had a family reunion in KC. We wanted to stay another day and found this great rate on Expedia. I wish we would have found this hotel sooner! We had a lot of loud noises in our room i.e. AC and fans, but the breakfast was great and the staff just went out of their way to accommodate their guest. It was not the best hotel (needs updating) but CLEAN! […] I would stay and recommend any of my family and friends to stay here because the staff just made the hotel seem like a six star hotel!!!!! Free happy hour more like two / with snacks! Free shuttle service! (Where do you find that anymore!) Free breakfast omelet station, fruit, cereal you name it! Awesome staff! Did I already say that? Within walking distance to The Plaza, parks nearby, right off Broadway. The staff were friendly and helpful, and king size bed and pillows were comfy. The hot breakfast was a great option. Parking was an extra $11 per night, but not bad since it was gated and below the hotel. Biggest drawback was the bathroom. Huge room with huge living space, but […] a closet for a toilet and bathtub. This hotel was fine. The problem is our toilet didn't work and overflowed while we were out of the room. I came back to water all over the floor and quickly called the front desk. Breakfast is very good. Includes oatmeal, cereal, eggs, bacon, muffins, etc. Morning service folks are really nice and fun. Drinks at free cocktail hour are okay, snacks not so much. It's chips, salsa, odd hummus, sometimes raw vegetables and ranch. Rooms fine, clean, a little muggy in hotel. exercise room good. I twice asked for a wake-up call and […] it didn't happen either time. They had the record of my request but couldn't explain why it never happened. FYI Parking is not free. "Overall an okay hotel"
pros: near restaurants (walking distance), easy to find and get in and out easy by car, yummy breakfast choices, nice lobby, fast elevators, great pool for kids with a separation between the 2-3 feet pool and another pool for the 6-7 feet pool. Great for parents that are trying to juggle two non swimmers. great room darkening curtains CONS: beds were […] small, to soft for our liking, some wear and tear in the rooms (carpet pealing up in corner near bathroom and one sitting chair support bar on bottom broken) bathrooms were small but functional Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Terrible parking at $11 day! Didn't clean our room, breakfast line was 30 mins, coffee maker didn't work, and bartenders didn't know how to make drinks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, but facility in need of upgrade."
The staff was great. They got us into a better room right at check-in. But even in the better room, the facility is worn and dated. The biggest issue was that the fan for the AC in the room was extremely loud and kept us awake for a significant portion of the night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location - close to the Plaza and Westport"
Hotel amenities were great - shuttle service, breakfast, happy hour, and the pool. The front desk personnel and accommodations were not so great. They had difficulty finding our reservation and were unable to give us the type of room we requested even though we booked 6 months in advance and checked in early.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, but not quite what we thought it would be."
Having never been to Kansas City, I picked our hotel based on price, availablilty, and reviews. The price for our suite was very fair. We had hoped to have 2 bathrooms, or potentially get a 2 bedroom suite, but they did not have those, so we took what they had. It was farther away from the places we had wanted to go than I had realized, but the hotel […] staff was very helpful in getting us where we needed to go. They had directions printed out for pretty much any place I had asked about. The pool was nice, the fitness room was nice, the steam room and sauna were needing some repair work (they looked a bit under standard). WE didn't use the cocktail hour, but ate breakfast each morning. That was wonderful!!! The only negative I could put on that would be the lines are long. Not much you can do about that, though. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would consider staying here again, if I had a downtown need. Would definitely consider Embassy Suites again no matter what. We switched to this hotel after having a poor experience at a different hotel. We found this hotel to be in order with other Emabassy Suites, very well run with an above average staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overall great stay"
Friendly and helpful staff, very close to plaza (shuttle can take you there or walkable)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's not as nice as other Embassy Suites that I've stayed in (in Omaha for example) - the rooms are a little smaller and the facilities feel a little old. But it's still a lovely place and overall a pleasant stay. Staff was very friendly and breakfast was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One of the best star hotels in the downtown area"
We were looking for a good place to stay for the weekend in Kansas City. Embassy suites had everything to offer - swimming pool, restaurant, complimentary breakfast and bar.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Near the Plaza"
very clean nice rooms, however, then beds are extremely soft and mussy. I do not like saggy pillow top bed in the least. Maybe other people do, but I prefer a much more supportive, firmer mattress than these. Also, the breakfast area is a zoo on weekends. Be prepared for long lines and long waits on these day. I was bumped into twice and no one apologized […] or offered to clean up. At least the rooms are quiet. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Outdated and full of obnoxious guests"
Hotel itself was very mediocre. Very outdated decor straight out of the early 90s. Bed was very uncomfortable and had a nice valley, probably because of its age. This is not a quiet hotel. There are kids running up and down the halls in bathing suits and no parents anywhere. Do not expect this to be a couples retreat. The hotel is also extremely humid […] due to the pool and fountains. You will feel hot and sweaty. The breakfast looked good, but we did not want to fight the crowd, mostly misbehaving children. Would not stay here again. At this price point there are far better choices. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"clean but needs update"
decent hotel but I thought it was overpriced for it. We had 4 people in our room and their pull out sofa had no pillows anywhere and the ones we had were tiny. The evening happy hour was ok but all they had to eat was chips and pretzels and carrots and broccoli. Nice breakfast. Only enough towels in room for 2 people. Staff (Taylor) was nice but when […] checking in. But when checking out they did not ask how the stay was. all in all it was average hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
