Not pleasant! The bench outside our room sat with bags of garbage for most of the first day we were there. Our tiny and tired room had a constant, loud electrical noise from the air exchange system. Worse was the streetlamp outside the room that lit the entire headboard of the bed all night. Starting the first night and continuing into day 2, I called […] the office 3 times for a room change. Each time I was told a manager would be contacted. Finally, we went to reception, and eventually, the "manager" was able to find us another room. The next room was fine, but by no means luxurious. Overall, we loved the downtown location, but we didn't feel the "resort" except for the additional daily $30 "activities" fee for such amenities as the s'mores that the guests were invited to make one evening. Beautiful and historic old property located in the heart of the old town, just a couple of blocks from the main plaza. Bar and restaurant are perhaps the best in Santa Fe and popular with distinguished artists. As a AAA 4-diamond hotel, I expected La Posada to look a little prettier, but I suppose it goes with the New Mexico aesthetic. I thought my room could've used a new coat of paint. I noticed the cracks in the tile grouting of the bathroom. And it bothered me that the housekeeper didn't vacuum up little pieces of lint. The valets are extremely helpful […] and gracious. There is a complimentary shuttle, up to 2 mile radius. The spa is heavenly. The workout room is small, but has what you need. C.O. Bigelow toiletries. Flat screen tv. HBO is included. Free parking. We loved our brief stay. I have been visiting this hotel for 14 years and it never disappoints. Very peaceful, relaxing and classic Santa Fe sensual. The room was wonderful with a wood burning fireplace, the hot tub under the stars relaxing, the room service first class, the spa superb. What more could you ask for in a hotel?

We have stayed at La Posada many, many times and will continue to do so in the future. We stayed over New Year's and were dismayed to find that the room we had did not contain a fireplace, since we were planning on staying in with a fire and watching bowl games on New Year's Day...which was also my birthday! We talked to the front desk and were shown […] to another room which completely fulfilled all of our requirements. The bellmen moved us and helped us start a fire. I also received a cheese and fruit tray, complete with a bottle of wine and a note wishing me a Happy Birthday. I love the differing rooms at the hotel. The food at the restaurant, as well as room service, is always outstanding. The location is perfect within walking distance to Canyon Road and the Plaza. We parked our car and never used it again until we left for the airport. Since it was snowing and icy, the hotel shuttle took us and picked up up from our dinner reservations. I would highly recommend this hotel and do so to all of my close friends who ask for Santa Fe tips. Read more

This hotel is a historical property and there is a small reminder of Santa fe's past everywhere you look. I have stayed here several times and each room has some unique detail that makes it special. I will begin with the only disappointment we experienced -- we booked a king room and initially were given a room with two queens. This was quickly remedied. Other than that one tiny error, everything, and I do mean everything was superbly handled. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, every single member of the staff was pleasant […] and attentive. This is a beautiful and unique hotel. Lovely hotel, excellent location just a 5 minute walk to the Canyon Road galleries and a 5 minute walk to the Plaza. Outdoor restaurant great for breakfasts. Our two year old son was welcomed and had a great time. Thick stucco walls make the rooms quiet. Bed pillows were worn out and could use replacement. Everything else was perfect.

Had a wonderful stay. Great service, staff and accommodations. The spa and pool are beautiful, and the pool staff is very attentive (always making sure the guests are hydrated!) A series of low rise buildings spread over beautifully manicured grounds, the hotel is well kept, staffed by friendly personnel, and Its restaurant, The Patio, has great outdoor dining with a good menu. This was my third stay here over the last four years. I want to like this place as the grounds are lovely, the location is great and many of the rooms are charming. But the experience fall short of the promise, and the pricing. Staff is inattentive, unconscientious and less than accommodating. When you book a room via an outside agency, as we did, you […] are made to feel second-class, assigned to the worst-located room and then, upon politely asking for a change, assigned to a second worst location. When reassigned, staff failed to re-deliver luggage as promised, and left a fruit-and-cheese tray with a letter to some other guest in the new room even as the fruit had begun to spoil. These seem like small things, but they've been a persistent occurrence on each visit and it's time for us to find a hotel in Santa Fe where service and attitude are in better balance with the aspirations and architecture. Initially, I was impressed with the grounds, the room and certain amenities, such as the hotel shuttle. Within a couple of days, I realized how poor and inefficient the service was, particularly housekeeping. My toiletries, soap, complimentary water, etc., were not replaced until I called the Supervisor to ask for them. My in-room safe needed new batteries […] and after two requests to get them, I gave up. No one ever came and I couldn't use my safe. The staff at the front desk were young and ill-equipped to answer the simplest questions. I was met with a blank stare over and over again and no attempt was made to find an answer for me. The concierge was useless; telling me I could make my own reservations for day trips. The lunch and beverage service advertised for the pool area was non-existent until the last day of my stay. And, the outdoor patio, where breakfast is served was reserved as a whole for a large group of business travelers, leaving the other guests scrambling to get a table at breakfast. I was very frustrated by this issue and resented being treated "less than" the business travelers. If you were lucky enough to get a seat elsewhere (the bar), service was non-existent. Read more
