"Should be called 'Hotel MIN' instead of Hotel MAX!"
Everything about this "historical" hotel is tiny. The bathroom is smaller than the bathroom of the boardroom in a cruise ship. It was definitely uncomfortable, couldn't breathe, enjoy, or relax. It was so stuffy. We have stayed in nicer hotels that pride in their uniqueness and quaintness for better prices...so if you are going to splurge, do not splurge […] here. We booked a room for 3, two parents and an 8-year old child and we were given the Artist King. Where was the child suppose to sleep? However, they did come through on that regard and gave us a two-double bedroom...as soon as we got there, we took a nap and I kept thinking I was smelling like urine...gross! So I couldn't fall asleep and asked my husband if he can smell it. He claimed it was the damp pillow cases and sheets and it smelled like mildew. We called down and they said they'd replace it. The entire family fell asleep in the other bed instead and hours later, we had to go up to the desk to remind them that our linen needs to be replaced. "Oh, ok...thanks for the reminder?" Really?!! Overall, it was a bad experience...for $500 on three nights. A bad way to start our vacation...Now here we are, in the Red Lion Hotel...all inclusive, with amenities, breakfast, free wi-fi, pool, spacious bedroom, two queen beds.....ahhhh...........room to breathe. "Sparkling Clean and Friendly Staff"
When we arrived we were assigned a room and given our keycards. Went upstairs only to find housekeeping had just begun cleaning the room. We went back downstairs and waited a while, no big deal. When the room was ready, we went upstairs again. The room was sparkling clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for showers. But, […] that has to be the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It was tiny. Room was cramped with 2 double beds, a dresser and a nightstand. The shower was about the size of a phone booth. When I washed my hair, my elbows kept bumping the shower walls. For 1 night pre-cruise, it was not a problem. But I would not want to spend a week there. It's just too small. The cleanliness of the entire hotel is better than any hotel I have ever been to. Everywhere I looked, there was somebody cleaning something. That counts for a lot. Overall Hotel Max is a nice place with accommodating staff. The rooms are relatively small, but fairly well kept. With the small rooms, small bathrooms. It just didn't give me a feeling of a great boutique hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, but thin walls and TINY bathroom"
All the reviews say it, and I assure you it's true: thin walls and tiny bathroom. Picture the smallest bathroom you've ever seen, and this one is probably smaller. So if these things bother you, don't stay here. But if you're looking for a comfortable bed in a hotel that is close to everything, book it. You can walk to Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, […] the art museum, and some really great restaurants. Also the record player in the room is a nice touch. "Hotel convenient to everything."
I really like how the staff made me feel like an individual, not just any customer. The staff was always very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, however the bathrooms were on the small side. I would have preferred the bathrooms to be in all one. The showers and toilet/sink were in separate rooms. I would still stay at Hotel Max.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A Good Hotel for the Price and Location"
Hotel Max was a nice experience. The rooms are small, think NY small with little excess space for spreading out. The feel of the hotel is very local however, and you get a sense that your actually at a destination rather than a big national chain, which is the experience we were looking for. The decor is fun and unique, while the rooms are comfortable […] and provide enough space to make home base for someone who plans to spend most of their time outside of the hotel. The bar in the lobby area is nice and has a good selection, while the customer service was very good for us while we were there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old School Chafm"
I visited Seattle for the first time. Thanks to Expedia and a great package deal, I decided to pick Hotel Max for my hotel (I also looked at Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews). It's a great hotel in the heart of downtown. I was always walking distance from the main attractions. In addition, I was only a few blocks away from the monorail and light rail, […] so it was extremely convenient. The hotel room was a bit small, but it was plenty big for me. The room was clean with great amenities (e.g., free wifi, HBO, gym, and an attentive staff) and old school charm (there is a wonderful view of the Space Needle from my room). The staff was fantastic, and I was always greeted by a friendly bellhop. I would definitely recommend it for those who do not need a castle space and likes to roam the city by foot. Thanks for making my first of many stays in Seattle a great one! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Too spendy for what you get"
I like the concept, as I love its sister hotels Lucia and DeLuxe in Portland. This one was just too dark, cramped and pricey for the room size, which can feel almost closet like. The dresser is covered in sundries that cost an arm and a leg to purchase, instead of providing more space for your stuff. Thankfully there was free wifi, but that's all your […] going to get. Noisy neighbors (out of the hotel's control) didn't make for a fun night either, but the bed was very comfortable. The Red Fin restaurant in the lobby serves an outstanding breakfast. Five stars there. Because the hotel prices its rooms the same as other hotels in the area, I'd probably stay somewhere else next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location, welcoming and well decorated hotel. The bed (King room) was too soft for my liking, and had 2 very obvious grooves from use. Staff were very friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the art deco design and art work throughout the hotel. Bed were good but the rooms were small and the elevator was ridiculously small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The pictures look great but the hotel and rooms were VERY small. I am not a large person by any means (5'2) and I was very cramped in our room. We had a queen of the art room. The toilet was so close to the sink that I had to turn my body sideways in order to use the toilet so my knees wouldn't hit the sink. The shower was also very small. Any way you […] turned you were hitting a wall. Also had issues with our hotel keys and hotel door. Our room keys kept getting deactivated on a daily basis. We would get all the way to our room then have to go back down again because our key cards got deactivated. According to the staff it happens when the cards are put near cellphones? Well, no matter where we had our key cards, near phones or not, they deactivated every day. Our door also kept jamming and I actually got locked in our room at one point. Also, the walls are extremely thin. We heard our neighbors conversations (amongst other things) as if they were standing right next to us. The staff was polite, but I would definitely stay elsewhere next time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very small room and loud A/C unit"
The hotel is in an extremely convenient location in downtown Seattle and is well priced and staffed. The art deco style is unique and interesting but not really an important factor for a desirable hotel stay. The A/C was provided by a window unit whose noise is amplified by its proximity to the bed and the extremely small size of the room. Comfort is […] my only concern in a hotel stay so my overall rating reflects that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Tiny room and so noisy my earplugs and night mask still made it hard to sleep. So tiny my husband and I could hardly move around. More like a ships stateroom with the sink and toilet in one small closet and the shower in another closet. Otherwise hotel lovely and staff wonderful but I would not stay there again nor recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I remember staying here about two years back and felt the hotel was in much better condition than it currently is in. Our drain wouldn't drain and there was hair left in the shower. It's cheap for the area and if you are just stopping through for a night and don't want to spend a lot I would recommend it for the the area. If you are in Seattle for a […] few days and want a spacious room, this is not your hotel. The room was a bit smaller than we expected based on the online photos and the bathroom was horribly tiny, but since we weren't planning to hang around the hotel much it suited our needs just fine. "Small room, but great area"
Location, location, location. We loved our stay at Hotel Max. There were three of us, so the accommodations were a little cramped in a room with two double beds. We ended up stacking our suitcases in the closer, and I had (folded) piles of clothes off to one side of the bed. There weren't any dressers with drawers, but there was a flat screen TV and […] a desk. We didn't spend much time in the hotel, though, because we were so close to Pike Place Market. The monorail to the Seattle Center (Space Needle, EMP, et al.) is a block away. Pike Place Market is a short walk (but you might need to be in okay shape - it's uphill on the way back). We would definitely stay here again - I definitely felt like I got my money's worth. I would guess that a couple traveling together getting a room with a queen bed instead would feel less cramped. Hotel was clean, but super small. I came from NYC and it was pretty small for being in Seattle. I grew up here so I know hotels are ample, unlike this one. Also the bed was like a taco. I had high hopes for this hotel stay. I was sorely dissappointed upon arival. The lobby was small and the staff seemed uppity. When entering the hotel room I felt like I was entering a sardine can. The staff was polite and helpful. I liked the decor, very unique. My only complaints are: the king bed was uncomfortable and our bathroom was so small that my boyfriend's knees touched the opposite wall when he used the toilet (note: he is 6'5"). There was a restaurant attached to the hotel that we didn't end up checking out before having to leave, […] but it looked cool - Japanese fusion? They did have Happy Hour from 10pm-12am that would have been nice to do after a long day of exploring. the main entrance is on Stewart but the vallet parking is on 7th (you can park in open lot across from main entrance for $30-ish, but for only a few bucks more you can get the vallet parking in garage with in/out privelages). Personally, I won't be staying there again because the rooms are just too small for comfort - but if you're a small person, you'd probably really enjoy your stay at Hotel Max... "Great Location and value"
We were happy with this stylish hotel and very friendly/attentive staff. Turned the challenge of the small bathroom into entertainment value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I love the sushi bar in the lobby! The down side to the place is that they charged $33 for overnight parking when many places around the area were charging way less for overnight or a garage would just charge you hourly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good stay but could use some improvments"
The guys at the front door were amazing! Would have liked to of been informed of the $33.00 per night parking. However when car was unavailable due to problem with lift, we were comped 2 nights parking for the inconvenience. "You get what you pay for!"
This hotel has wonderful service, and the rooms are really cool, however; they are beyond small. The bathroom is so small you have to sit sideways on the toilet and the shower is smaller than a gym stall shower, but the bed is crazy comfortable and the service impeccable so its a tradeoff and the price is fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"world's smallest shower"
I am not exagerating when I say that the bathroom is the exact same size as the coat closet. The shower is so small that I could not even put up my arms to wash my hair without hitting my elbows. It's a good thing I'm not claustrophobic! The room itself was also tiny. There was literally a small catwalk around the bed and that's it! The price was right […] and the location of the hotel is great, but I would not stay here again. Also, the valet parking is one of the most expensive in Seattle at $33 a night. I've stayed at many Seattle hotels and usually pay around $25, even for the hotels closer to downtown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"It's Red. Think about it."
It's an old building painted in red inside. The lobby was dark and discrete. The elevators small, painted in red, and required your room key card to operate. The paintings on the walls were sexy or suggestive body parts. As soon as we were alone, my brother said, "This is a love hotel." I got a corner room on the top floor. It was quiet, but the bath […] tub and the toilet plus the sink were in two separate room/closets. That was interesting. The tub didn't drain well. I told the staff when I checked out. Hopefully they fixed it. The bed was comfortable. There weren't many power outlets (All were already taken by lamps and the alarm clock.) However, even though internet was not included in the price, when I asked upon check-in, they gave me a password. That was nice. And for that, I'm willing to recommend the staff of this hotel. "Funky, great location, good price!"
I chose this for the great location and price. First, I would ensure that you are not on floor 2. My first night was terrible... lots of people coming and going and LOUD on the floor.... awoken at 12:30 and then at 2:30 - 4:30 am. I called to the front desk and they did come up and say something to at least one of the rooms (and offered to move me right […] then but I didn't want to get dressed, packed and move at 3:00 am. Second night was GREAT! The rooms aren't too big but they have made this older hotel into a funky, fun place. "Great modern hotel with expensive parking"
The hotel and staff were excellent. Everyone I dealt with was very professional and friendly. My room was smaller than i was expecting, but that's not uncommon for hotels in the downtowns of large cities. The location is about a 10-minute walk straight to the marketplace, and about another 5 minutes to the waterfront. The location is fantastic if you […] want to do the tourist stuff. My only problem is the crazy valet parking price. I think it came to about $50 for overnight. I'm not sure if this is the hotel's price or if they have to secure space from someone else, but this adds a significant expense to the price of the room. Keep this in mind when booking. "They should post a size limit of 95 Lbs!"
Of boutique hotels where we've stayed this one is so cramped you can hardly breath. Elevators, the room, the commode room and shower (so tiny they had to be separated) were so small it was insane. There was barely room for a bed, let alone one night's luggage. The only enormous thing offered was the price for parking! Come on owners, really? Not even […] break for overnight guests? There was only one bath towel and one bar of soap to pass between the toilet room and shower room. Valet service was unorganized and very slow for the small number of guests.
