"Clean , comfortable ,overall very nice experience."
Comfortable bed , quite environment , I would agree with the 3.9 point rating. The restroom is a bite small not much room to move. I like everything else so I would come back again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Okay hotel for the business traveler"
The room was extremely small for the price, particularly in light of the many other hotels within the three block radius. The room I got was on the second floor corner, right above a small parking lot and alley way; at night, it was a bit loud but for the hum of the window a/c unit which helped drown out some noise. With respect to view, this room has […] two windows on two of the corners: one faced an office building (so you get to watch people work as you lie in bed, and I guess they can see you) and the other corner window faced a fire escape and the roof of a smaller building. As you can imagine the room was dark. Not the best choice for a family, for sure. Perhaps they have larger rooms. Nevertheless, the room has a bunch of small flies that bit me in the night--not pleasant. Luckily, I was attending a conference, so I didn't have to spend much time at the hotel. This is not a family friendly place, either. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Max, a Provenance Hotel Hey there JMV, Thanks for staying with us and for taking the time to share your experience on TripAdvisor. I'm sorry to read that you had a less than satisfactory experience. We know our rooms are smaller than other branded hotels in the neighborhood but believe that is what makes us different and interesting. We have a lot of pride in the history of our building and look to offer our guests unique amenities that provide an overall value to their experience. Again, thank you for staying with us! "No hotel parking unless you pay valet $33 day"
No hotel parking, no free parking, valet parking too expensive. There's public parking right across the street that is about 20 dollars per day, cheaper than the hotel small parking lot. Hotel itself is well located and cleanliness was good, hotel is old but has been upgraded, elevator very tiny only 2 people with luggage can fit in. We only stayed […] one night and it was good overall. I can't recommend it for longer stays. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Max, a Provenance Hotel Margie, Thank you so much for staying with us and the kind words about our location and the overall cleanliness. Our Housekeeping team will be so excited to hear the feedback. I'm sorry to read your parking comments. Unfortunately, Seattle's parking costs are on the rise given the recent growth. Please know that we are one of lowest priced hotels in our neighborhood. Again, thank you for staying with us and hope to welcome you back soon. Regards, Kevin Scott General Manager
"Tiny rooms, tinier bathrooms"
Fairly good central location, but the hotel rooms are tiny, and the bathrooms absolutely minuscule—showers are almost impossible to move around in and sinks look like airplane sinks. They have AC, but it's a window unit and quite loud.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Max, a Provenance Hotel Rebeccah, Hello there! Thank you for staying with us and sharing some feedback from your recent Max experience. As an older building we have some really funky room and bathroom layouts. We believe they are what make us stand out from the rest of the hotels in Seattle and we're just fine with that. Please know that we do have larger rooms available so don't hesitate to ask for one next time. Ultimately, we want you to be comfortable and walk away a feeling like a rock star. Regards, Kevin Scott General Manager
Hotel Max was a good choice for our overnight stay in Seattle. Close to Pike Place Market. The room was small, especially the bathroom. Reminded me of European hotels. The concierge was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Hotel Max, a Provenance Hotel Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to share your recent experience with others. We are stoked to hear that you found our Front Desk team to be great. They pride themselves on being local experts! We get compared to European hotels quite a bit. We believe we are more funky but appreciate the compliment. Again, thanks for staying with us and we hope to have you back soon. Regards, Kevin Scott General Manager
Quick little visit, but will be back! The artwork around the entire hotel was really neat and the free pints of local brew in the lobby was a nice touch!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a modern style hotel with the typical accomodations (valet, restaurant on-site, wifi, etc) with staff that was friendly and helpful. The room was a bit tight but it didn't bother us much since we were rarely in our rooms anyways. This hotel was a unique but enjoyable experience overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel, great location."
The Hotel Max staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We got there well before our check-in time and were able to drop off our bags and decide between checking in early into a second floor bedroom, or waiting until our guaranteed check-in. We decided to wait and were given a seventh floor corner room, it was awesome! The staff greet you every […] time you enter, and the free beer hour can't be beat. Also, Mohammed always brought a smile to or face by asking how we're doing and offering to help with anything. Definitely recommend Hotel Max! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tiny Bathroom, Expensive Parking"
Max tries hard to be trendy, and many things work. Decor is urban modern, in an older building. Free beer reception in lobby in afternoon is a nice touch. Staff are very pleasant. Card key controlled access seems to be fairly secure. It is a big city downtown hotel, so a few things come along with that like small rooms, traffic noise. Thin walls allow […] you to get to know the neighbors. Wall fan/air conditioner helps to reduce neighbors' sounds. Fans indicate several speeds, of which apparently only one worked in our room. Beds are comfortable, room sizes sparse. Bathrooms sink/toilet area are the same size as in many jet airplanes. Shower was 26" x 26". Parking really should not cost more than $40 a night on top of room rates. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Max. This is obviously an older hotel that's been updated, so the rooms are small by modern standards, but the décor is dramatic and consistent, comfy bed, plenty of clean towels and hot water. WiFi and etc. Not a fan of the current practice of stocking the room with snack items and water bottles at steeply marked up […] prices, but that seems to be the norm nowadays, so it's to be expected. All in all, a good place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable but shame about front staff"
Very comfortable, fantastic location, great valet guys but oh what a shame it's all let down by ambivalent reception staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good hotel with some drawbacks"
The hotel is in a good location, away from the business of Pikes Place Market, but still within a short walk. The room was very small, and the shower was ridiculous, almost impossible to turn around in. Otherwise, it was a fine place. I'd stay there again, but I'd request a room with a tub.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Research before buying"
Great location but hard on the wallet. Drinks and food should be more reasonable given the price of the rooms!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Downtown Seattle. Close to everything"
Shops, food, and more shops, and more food. ahhhhhhhhhhh. Close to space Needle, EMP Museum, Pike's Market, Science Center, etc. So surprising, Seattle is the friendliest place I have ever been.Genuine Expedia guest review
Rooms are small, no parking, hard to accessGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK to spend a few nights"
Space is small! We had a large step leading into a small bathroom- very dangerous especially in the middle of the night. Not much room to unpack if staying longer than a few days.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Artsy hotel in great location."
Check in was late for us, but free beer happy hour made up for it!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good for a night or two"
The cleaning staff were not quick therefore, even though we were early we couldn't get our room until after the check in time. Also, check in was late at 4, and late check out was not offered so in the end we paid for a day in a hotel and only we're allowed to stay for 20 hours. The room was clean but extremely small.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient, modern hotel in Downtown Seattle"
We had a great time at Hotel Max! This hotel was a great value for the price. It was close walking distance to Pike's Market Place and it was a safe, clean area. The Space Needle was about a 15-20 min walk. The Light Link is below the Nordstroms which is just a block or 2 from the hotel so no need to take a taxi! The hotel staff was very friendly and […] accommodating. The hotel even offered a free beer in the lobby for a few hours which was pretty cool! We were always greeted by the staff when entering and exiting. The room and bathroom were small but I knew to expect this from staying in a city. They even allowed you to fill out a card where you could choose which type of pillow you want (body billow, firm, extra soft, etc.). I thought this was a nice touch. The room was very clean and the bed was comfy. My only real complaint is that the elevators were very slow and small. I'd recommend this hotel to couples or business travelers. It didn't really seem like a family hotel. Overall, I thought Hotel Max was a great hotel and I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location. NIce Style. Small Rooms"
This hotel is at a great location and there are lots of shopping and dining options nearby. Because it's an older building though, the rooms are small -- too cramped for us as we had our 4 year old with us. If you are traveling alone, or as a couple, it's definitely worth a look.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun Hotel, Great Location"
I wanted to start off by first addressing the "small" issues everyone else mentions. These are correct, the bathroom is small and the elevators are small, but I'm not quite sure what everyone is expecting from a hotel built in this time frame? The sizing and setup is exactly how you'd expect it to be, it shouldn't be of any surprise. Either way, the […] hotel renovation looks great, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The local beer happy hour is pretty awesome to say the least. As for location, this hotel seems to put you right in the middle of both Belltown and Capitol Hill, both areas are a walk of about 15 minutes, which isn't bad at all if the weather is decent. Also, there is a ton of shopping nearby, probably less then 5 minute walk and great areas to eat all around. For the price of the hotel, the location, the quality staff, I don't think you could ever beat the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel in Downtown Seattle"
Hotel staff gave some great recommends for lunch places near by. Started with a fantastic lunch at Lola's. Roamed Pike Place Market which is a pleasant walk from the hotel. Attended the 2nd anniversary party of the Chihuly Garden and Glass House on Friday night. It was fantastic to see the outside garden at night! Highlight of our trip. Took in the […] Miro' exhibit at the Seattle Art museum on Saturday. Great museum if you've never been to it. Then on Sunday went and spent some time in Volunteer Park and took in the Chinese exhibit at the Art Museum there and also the conservatory. All in all a great weekend! "Great location, mostly great staff"
We first stopped at the hotel around noon, just to see if we could drop luggage and the front desk person was less than helpful. Told us we couldn't do anything until 4pm, seemed really put out that we wanted to leave a bag. Luckily, he was the exception, not the rule. We went back about 6pm and everyone we dealt with the rest of our stay was fantastic. […] We got all sorts of information on the neighborhood and the hotel amenities (thanks for nothing, early shift!) and it happened to be during beer hour featuring local craft beers. Awesome. The room was small, but adequate and clean. I would totally stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Noisy and tight"
This is about the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in in Seattle. Our room was next to the outrageously noisy HVAC system and alleyway with at least four garbage/recycling trucks picking up loads all night long. The bed was comfortable and the room was decently clean, but very small with limited room to even walk around. Overall, I'd not recommend for […] anyone to stay here. Response by Hotel Max, a Provenance Hotel Thank you biotraveler for your recent review and for choosing to stay and experience the Max. We are truly sorry to hear that it was a less than satisfactory stay. Please know that you can always call the Front Desk and inquire about seeing another room. Ultimately, your comfort is what is most important to us. Being an older building in a downtown area can bring it's challenges but we've got a number of rooms that I believe would have worked brilliantly. Again, thank you for your time and we do hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back! Cheers, Kevin Scott General Manager
"Nice hotel but very small rooms."
Since we were there for only one night, the small room was not really a problem. I felt the bed was adequate but prefer a firmer mattress. Our view was not a good one as we were on the back side, but that was not a problem.Genuine Expedia guest review

Went to Seattle for a weekend stay and to catch a show at the Triple Door. Cool decor friendly staff, free local beer(5:30-6:30). Walking distance to Pikes Place and plenty of other downtown places. Small room but it was bid enough and we had a view of the Space Needle.Genuine Expedia guest review

Very noisy. Was on 7 floor. Earplugs were provided on bedside table. Tiny room. Tiny shower. Put $75 hold on my VISA for incidentals for 1 night stay. Very nice people. Clean room. Comfy bedGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Max, a Provenance Hotel Hey there! Thanks for the kudos about our team and the job our wonderful Housekeepers do. They work so hard!. On the other hand, I'm sorry to hear that you found our property to be a bit noisy. As a centrally located hotel in downtown Seattle we struggle with providing you the perfect balance. "Convenience and style"
This is our second time to stay at the Hotel Max and we've enjoyed it each time. We were able to walk to Pike St. Market and REI. "Kind of Disappointing but not horrible"
Pros - Staff was nice - Free beers in the lobby - Soft/clean bed - Good flat screen TV at the end of the bed - Cool older building - $20 overnight parking across the street - Good Price Cons - Horribly small bathroom - Ordered a king bed but got a queen bed - Really small hotel room in general - Got charged for chips we didn't eat, just moved out of […] the food basket to the TV stand across the room. The font desk said the charge was for misplaced chips. Annoying to call them and arrange for a refund I wanted to give this hotel a better rating considering the good price and the friendly staff. But the room was just too tiny and the bathroom was pathetic. It's a close call but I think I would stay elsewhere in Seattle the deal breaker being the smallness of the room and bathroom. I enjoyed the hotel, it is near shopping, restaurants and the market, a train ride away from the airport. Rooms are in the small side, but very comfortable and nicely appointed. "The little guys make this place work"
I was most impressed by the valet and housekeepers: quick and friendly valet service (even made a run to the car for an item) and the room felt very clean. Felt snubbed by the front desk workers. They don't answer the phone. When I showed up at the front desk after no answer, I was told to text rather than call. Never heard "welcome" or "thank you." […] I had to ask what the check-out time was. Earplugs are placed on the bedside table. You will need them. "Great hotel in the perfect location"
Prices were great. We arrived in the early morning and expected to jut have to hotel hold our luggage but was told we could check in early which was really great. Rooms were small but most rooms in the city are. But the rooms were very clean and the pillows and bed were super comfortable . Front desk service was above par. Very informative staff, was […] told what to do and see while visiting the city. Also we liked that the hotel was perfect walking distance to the waterfront or to the monorail if you wanted to see the space needle. My stay was nice, bed was comfy, had everything I needed. Everything is just very small; from the elevators to the rooms and bathrooms.
